Well, I'm here again. I quit posting for the second time at the start of this semester (late August). I got sooo busy and my weight just crept up. I've been working 30-45 hours a week, I'm in my senior year of college, driving home every weekend to see my boyfriend, and I got a new puppy. I don't even know what my weight is now because I'm too scared to weigh myself, but I can really see it when I look in the mirror. I'm still in the same sizes, but they feel different, more snug and my love handles have grown. Now when I look in the mirror I think I just wish I weighed what I did at the beginning of the semester, and it's sad because I was still wanting to lose weight then.

So, my plan is to eat healthy and then once I feel like I've made some progress and fell good I'll weigh myself. I used to focus mostly on just calories, protein, and fiber. I'll still focus on those, but my main target is just more fruits and veggies.

I thought I could manage my weight on my own, but the idea of posting for everyone else to see just helps me mentally somehow. So, I'll start posting the food I eat and calories again, but not my weight (atleast for a while). It was about 140 before, but I'm guessing I've gained 15 lbs. It's funny, I never gained the freshman 15, but I gained the senior 15!

hey!  i remember you! so happy you are back!!!

right now, honestly, focus on school, sleep. and food.  eat stuff that will make you full and won't kill you.  seriously, i just finished that up one year ago... the year prior, i rember eating what i wanted (well, it was excused!  i was on a tough semester!) and seriously, coupled with the stress, you could see it EVERYWHERE.  body, attitiude, SKIN.... EVERYWHERE.  honestly don't sweat the small stuff.  there will be time eventually and when you have that free time, things will be ok.

right now, your focus should be on school and how to best get to where you want to be.  when losing weight or trying to keep wieght off the best things are to remember....

1.  plan your meals when you can.  this helps

2.  working out is a great stress reliever.

3.  if you don't work out, well, keep in mind what you eat but don't let what you consume consume you.

4. TAKE A BREAK!!!!!!!!!!  sereiously.  i remember looking at what had to be done, what my ambitions were and thinking "um, i don't even get to sleep between Sept. and Dec. " you DO have time for a break 9and honestly, a day or two CONSCUTIVELY) can give you that freshness that evades you when staring at that computer screen.  and just forgetting for a day is a beautiful thing.)

just keep track of what goes into your mouth, dont' forget that there is no "venial" (is that how it is spelled?) sin, and just give your head and body a break.  a couple of weeks can really kill you if you let it.  i dunno... just speaking from what i went through.

Hey everyone! I didn't disappear again, I swear. I've been checking out the general discussions area a lot. I've been staying on pretty good track. What I have been doing is trying to cut down on carbs. What helps me do this is to focus on getting in a ton of protein and that makes me feel full.

Does anyone else get headaches or feel dizzy when they eat much less carbs than they're used to?

Some days I've been under 40 grams of carbs, other days I've taken in about as much carbs as I always have.

I am feeling better now and can notice a visual difference.

Another thing that has been helping me is the fact that it's Christmas season. I'm keeping myself very busy cooking, baking, cleaning, running errands, and shopping.

You sound like you can do focused planning when you set your mind to it.

Apply the same regime to your weight loss program. You can do it!

Thanks Nevd!

I'm starting to really try now. I did well today. I looooovvveee those mornings when I wake up and think back to the day before when I finished it off very well and how much thinner I feel and un-bloated. It's a complete contrast from those mornings after I've scarfed an entire pizza! I just keep looking forward to the next morning and focus on how I want it to start off well.

I began that 2008 challenge in the forums. I lost 1 lb. last week but I'm expecting more this week!

Good luck to anyone reading!

mmm... I had that thin feeling again when I woke up this morning! But, I'm sad because my favorite full-length mirror (it's not one of those that make me look fatter or skinner, just shows how I look) BROKE! Oh well. I can't wait to get back down to 135... I know it will happen I just want it to be NOW!

I have a big problem with my kidneys... I was born with 2 uriters from my left kidney and one of them has an issue with getting backed up. So that sends urine back up to my kidney instead of my bladder where it should be (a uriter is the tube that connects the kidney to the bladder). This makes me get kidney infections that spread all throughout my system... actually, some doctors think I pretty much have a constant infection. I also get kidney stones often... and everything you've heard about them is TRUE! They hurt! Anyway, all the doctors tell me to drink plenty of water and cranberry juice and I HATE cranberry juice. So, I compromised with myself that every morning after I go to the bars I drink a full glass of cranberry juice. It adds a lot of calories that I don't want, but I know it's healthier in the long run. I really need to have surgery on it, but I'm just scared, plus I don't want to take the time out of my busy life to do it.

Anyway, good luck everyone!

Wow that is close to home. Both my left and right uriters are not properly attached to my bladder so it takes forever for any liquids to pass through from my kidneys to the bladder (as was recently demonstrated by a study carried out under general anathetic using coloured liquids, even under empty bladder conditions), I am scheduled for an operation in late February that will (amongst other things) re-attach the uriters to the bladder to ensure free-flow, this should improve my kidney health - at the moment they are dilated due to being unable to empty in a timely manner. Oh and the timely bit: my pre-operation appointment is tomorrow

Find a light brand. All the calories are from added sugar - a light brand uses artificial sweetner. In the UK I can buy juice from the NETTO chain of shops that is 9 calories for a 200ml glass. That tells you something!

I just did! It's actually really good. It's light cranberry AND rasberry juice. It tastes amazing and it's only 50 calories for 8 ounces.

Will you let me know how your surgery goes and if it's successful? I've had ongoing issues with my health insurance. They keep dropping me because I'm over 18 but I'm still in school so I'm supposed to still be on it. Then I have to get a transcript and fax it to them and it just takes forever. I really need that surgery though. Everytime I go to the doctors they're like Sara- Get that surgery!!!

I hope it works well for you- I'm happy to hear there's someone else who understands!

Hi, I don't know if you read my diary so I'll mention it here: operation will be 6 months from now. With any luck I'll have internet in hospital and be able to get back to CPH with a report within a day or two. I got some details about what my operation will be like: the average person stays in hospital for 10 days after the operation, there are stents and tubes and things coming out from everywhere (neck, nose, urethra, pubic area, incision area, from both kidneys - did I miss anything?) and you press a button when you want more morphin for pain-relief. It is more involved than I imagined. Self care is intensive in the first week but still non-negligible for the rest of my life.
