Hi all,

I decided to do an online diary. I did however, start a food journal today, just to see exactly how many calories I was consuming. Today, from breakfast through dinner, I consumed 1744.8 calories. I was 375 and 5'6" when I started this diet and it said that I was consuming @ 3300 calories a day to maintain that. Now someone posted earlier that I was not eating enough. Okay, here is the problem. I struggled to eat all the food I did today (and have been) so how do I incorporate more food? I am stuffed! But I also don't want to send my body any messages that I am starving it, because in my stomach I am not! I am still waiting on my book (ETL). The other question I have is....The stomach is a muscle. Correct? With that being said wouldn't I want it to shrink, and in doing so, wouldn't I continue to eat less? Any info would be greatly welcome. Hope everyone is having a great day!

So long as you aren't going long periods of time without eating and you feel satisfied I think you are doing quite well! I'm not a doctor or a scientist, but from the research I've done, so long as your body knows its getting another meal soon you'll be okay. Dr. Fuhrman (ETL) says to eat 3 meals per day, and have maybe 1 snack between bfast and lunch and another between lunch and dinner if you are having a hard time keeping your blood sugar stable or are experiencing stong hunger. Best wishes on your journey! -Krystin

First i will say WELCOME!! its great to have you here! everyone here is extremely helpful and supportive! you will hear from Peter im sure very shortly. Peter runs this place and is the best with Mama Bear a very close second!

Next i will comment a bit on your journey... i like the use of the word journey... because it truly is exactly that... you will see others on a similar journey all using different ways of change to get were we all want to be.

Ok first thing... your stomach is an organ... yes it uses muscles to help break down your food but the size of it is usually directly proportional to your body size. shrinking your stomach can be done in two ways... neither are highly recommended...

first you can starve yourself. this causes the stomach to shrink but also causes your body to go into starvation mode, where it will hold onto all the excess fat in your body as a survival tactic.

next you can get surgery. this i do not know alot about but from what i understand it can help very much but there are risks and more surgeries to come after that, ie. tummy tuck, breast lift, lipo.

ok last thing... if you want to lose weight and do it right, surf on this site and take notes if need be... you will learn alot and it will help you view food differently...

remember this is a wild journey and we are all here to help you! if you keep up this diary will will do our best to keep helping you!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi Jewelianna!

I'm new to the site, and I'm far from an expert at 330 lbs myself, but the one thing I've learned in my years of dieting and research is you have to eat to lose.  For me, I could go a whole day of starving myself and not lose a pound.  All it does is shut down my metabolism.

What I've found to work for me is to eat small meals every two to three hours....small being 2 ounces of grilled tuna and 1 cup of raw baby spinach.  For lunch and dinner, I add some rice or a sweet potato.  When I get tired of spinach, or need something sweet, I'll substitute some strawberries, or a half banana, or grapefruit for the spinach.  Sometimes it's hard for me to eat that often, but I know that that's the only way I'm going to take this weight off.

Good luck.....you deserve to be happy and healthy! :rose:

Hi all!!!!!!

Guess what Monday was??!!! It was my one month mark!!! However, I didnt weigh until today, and the results are in.....................................350!!!! I lost 25 lbs! I know,  i know....most of it was fluid, but the way I look at it...fluid or not, I was still carrying it around on me, and now it is gone! Next goal ---325. Will post again soon, finally think I got my diet down for now. I have been sick, so not doing much of anything. Good Luck and continued success to all!

Hi all,

Been awhile since I posted, so here it goes. I fell off the wagon last week, but I guess I have been on my journey just long enough, to WANT to jump back on. I told myself, that I am only human, and that I will make mistakes, and I just have to leave my pity pot and get back on the wagon. So here I am. I worked out yesterday for the first time and I have to say, it felt great. I didn't overdo it though, as I want to be able to WANT to do it again at least every other day for now. Fortunately, I only gained about a half a pound with my fast food excursion, and am back on track now. I ate about 1600 calories yesterday, all within my realm of food, drank all my water, AND exercised lightly for about an hour. So.....yay me. Thanks for being here and will post again soon.

Good for you, to get back to what you need to be doing.  It is so easy for us to "mess up" and then continue to make excuses for our unhealthy eating.  I know I was just saying that I have been eating not so good.  So I am also picking up and jumping back on the wagon.  We can both do this.  I know I am not giving up on myself and it sounds like you are not either.  So, good luck and keep us updated!

:thumbsup:Hi all!

Been a long time. Just wanted to pop in and and say I am now down to 339 for a total of 36 pounds lost!! I think I finally have my food comsumption down, my water intake up and I have started walking. I do about half a mile a day, and have another day or two before i increase to a full mile. 340 was a goal that I have now achieved. My big goal right now is to get below 300, however, my small goals are 10 pound increments. So I am off to see 300. Hope all are doing well and moving forward to bigger.......greater and better things!!!

Jewelianna!

Congratulations.  Just stick with your plan and before you know it you will be at your next goal.  It is so much easier when you set little goals instead of looking to the ultimate goal.  I know for me it helps me stay motivated and feel more succesful when I am able to reach my small goals.  Keep up the good work. :)

Hi All,
I fell off the wagon for the holidays, but now they are over. So I have until Thanksgiving and Christmas 2006 to lose lose lose!!!! I am proud to say though that I only gained 2 pounds through the whole deal and am eager to jump back on the wagon!!! Just needed to reconnect with people that understand. Happy New Year!!!
