Vacation over!

So today was the last day of my vacation, which means that I had to bring my lovely boyfriend to the airport (a 3 hour bus ride), and see him off. Everytime we do this, there is always a waterworks show, mostly on my part, but he does tear up too. This time, though, since we know that we'll be seeing each other in only a few short months (in June), it wasn't so hard to say goodbye. I didn't cry when I saw him off, but on the bus ride home it hit me. It's just so sad! I miss him already. Sigh.:sad:

As for my eating it was okay. I didn't count like I have been doing, I did watch what I ate, though a couple slices of pizza and a bit of chocolate did get in my hands. Overall I think I did okay considering that I could have let myself go on several occasions. I didn't exercise....[...] per say .  Also! Ohhhhhh the scale didn't even tempt me all week! So I decided that I won't report a mid weigh in afterall! I can tough it out. Tomorrow I'll post my measurements results for week 2.

Back to school tomorrow. All by my lonesome self  Hope everyones vacation went well!

Day 15: PROTEIN!

Today I bought some Whey protein powder to hopefully help me get more grams of protein in everyday. School was okay, although waking up this morning was lonely. I still had the reflex to wake up and wrap my arm around my hunny...but he wasn't there.:tongue:

Day 1                               End of week 1          End of week 2     Loss in a week

So end of week 2 and I have lost another 4.5 inches which also makes a total of 17 inches loss in 2 weeks! Wow!!!!

Day 16: WORK WORK WORK!

Lots of work this week. Yesterday, today, Friday and Sunday. Yay. But this also means that I can't get to the gym this week. I have a project due Friday so I have to take Thursday to do that. Hopefully I will have time next week.  I hope that this rise in protein is doing me some good. My pants feel a little tighter today then yesterday, however it might be due to some bloating

Looking at my numbers lately, I haven't been getting in much fruits and Veggies. Although today I could have opted for a fruit instead of my crackers....but I was craving them and made room

I don't really feel like doing Turbo Jam right now, but if I find time after work, if I'm not too stiff or tired I shall Turbo Jam away. It seems lately that all the walking + work gets me really stiff at the end of the night. Though in the morning I feel fine. Must mean my muscles are getting a work out. With the extra protein coming in, I'm positive that they are being fed enough. This Whey should last me two weeks, so with that I will see the results and consider if it's a wise investment or not. It does give me 37 grams of protein with a very low cost of carbs (3 grams) I think it's a good source to grab extra protein. I can't wait till weigh in  Or even next weeks measurements results.

The weather is getting nicer, so that means I will be able to start walking the stairs and the trail! Dad likes to do this as well so I believe that we will be joining each other.

Day 17: UNIVERSITY

Today I accepted Ottawa University as the university that I will be attending come the fall. I'm very excited. My dorm is picked out. All that is left to do is....get a loan. BLAH! 1 year is about 18 grand. I have about 1/4 of that in savings. Parents are paying the tuition part, that's another 1/4. I have about 1/4 of that in scholarships. So I'm left with 1/4 to pay, which isn't bad. But I want to use the 1/4 I have saved up to by a laptop and all the things I may need (some clothes and such). So I will have to take out a loan for 1/2 of the 18000 or rather most likely just 10 grand. Blah!

I'm going into medicine to become a pediatrician and hopefully open my own practice one day. I know if I make it that the loan debt won't be a problem to pay off as I will be making big $$. But that's not what it's about for me. I love kids! They're so awesome!

What's stressing me out is just the fact that everything isn't organized yet. That's all. I wanna get my loan set up and all that stuff so that it's off my mind...until I have to pay it off...haha! Not funny. Blah!:grin: But yeah, yay me for getting into university. I'm proud. My average isn't as swell as it should be, I average about 88% So I guess it's okay.

Today was good, I got more fruits in, but #%@&! those suckers they cost me a lot in carbs . Work again tomorrow. Meh. Hope everyones having a good day! Pants feel looser today!

Congratulations on getting your university lined up.  That sounds very organized to me!  I think it's great you want to be a pediatrician.  So many kids need a good doctor!  Sounds like your routine is giving you good energy!

Day 18: CAFETERIA FOOD!

Today there was a special at my cafeteria for lunch: Chicken Caesar salad. I thought, what the heck, how unhealthy can it be. Boy was I wrong. Once I got home I checked it's nutrition values and ick...I'm sick from just looking at them! Well that's how I learn my lesson, never eat out!:shock::tongue:

I did manage to fit it into my daily calorie allowance, so that doesn't make it half bad!
Today I got off the city bus at the usual stop, I walk 20 minutes home from it, on my way home there are those stairs I talked about before! Well the weather was really nice today. Since I only had on a sweater and my bag I decided to take em today. I managed to go all the way up without stopping! There are about 350 stairs. The last time I did them I had to stop at every platform for about 3 minutes, but not this time! I am so proud. I had time to do 10 minutes worth. It's a good start I think.

Day 19: GROCERY SHOPPING WITH MOM!

Since I wasn't working today I got to go grocery shopping with mom, which is really fantastic. This way I can get her to buy the good stuff: Yogurt with only 50 calories, no fat, low carbs and good protein; more fiber rye; Better bread with more fiber; My fiber cereal; Lots of fruits and veggies; we bought some sprouts (alfalfa) mmmm; and lots lots more. Ugh. Mom bought some junk food, chocolate m&m's....now she didn't buy one pack...no no...she bought like 7! And these are the big big big packs, like 250g. They were on sale for 1$ from original price of 3$. I did nibble on some, but did only take one portion size of 16.  I opted for the chocolate covered peanut ones since they were the best pick health wise out of all of em and I figured since the protein was a little high from the peanuts it was okay. I managed to fit it into my daily calories, so it's not to to bad. This year I told my mom I did not want an easter basket, because, seriously, who needs the milk chocolate pound bunny + a million other calories? Not me, that's for sure :grin:

Holy, I did turbo jam around 9pm tonight and I was jumping all over the place! Usually I do the low impact routine, but tonight I really got into it. I was sweating more then I do when I'm on the elliptical machine for an hour...and this was only 20 minutes worth. Crazy!

I can really feel my muscles in my thighs and calves being sore from my jog up the stairs yesterday. I absolutely love the feeling, it's incredible!! I'm getting soooo into the exercise, I love that I WANT to do it! I tried to find time to do the stairs again today, but alas I did not. I might wake up early tomorrow and do them before work, we'll see how I feel!

Today we went clothes shopping too, I grabbed a pair of 13 & 14 sized pants. Now I  used to be a 22 back when I was 243 pounds. The 14 pair fit nicely, I tried on the size 13 for kicks and they FIT! A little snug, but still....I was ecstatic! That is 8-9 sizes smaller! Incredible. And the tops that I tried were all XL, I no longer have to shop in the PLUS section! I'm so...I can't describe it! I'm really really anxious for my big weigh in next week and I'm excited to see my measurement results Tuesday!

I hope everyone is doing really well with their programs, I cannot believe it has already been 19 days! I can't believe that I have stuck it out for this long and I'm actually very pleased with it!

Day 20: WALK ON THE BEACH!

Today, me, mom and dad all went for a walk on the pathway of the beach. The whole pathway is about 3 years old. It runs from one city to the next which is around 50km. Today we walked 4.2km (2.1km going and the same coming back) in exactly 45 minutes! It was fun, I used to do this last summer, but now we walked even faster and were able to maintain the same paste the whole time. I'm going to be joining them everyday for these walks when I don't have work

Oh and yesterday at the dentist my hygienist noticed that I lost alot of weight since the last time she had seen me (6 months ago), So I guess I'm looking better

DAY 21: THREE WEEKS!

I can't believe it's already been 3 weeks! Time has flown by! I can't believe that there is 7 days left till my big weigh in. I'm feeling really nervous....I don't know if I've lost enough to get below the 200 mark. I'd be really disappointed if I wasn't below 205. Ugh! I'm frustrated now! The inches are coming off, I hope the weight is too!

Maybe I just feel bloated lately because my carbs have been high. I'm going to try and bring them down to 200 tomorrow and bring the good fat up. So it's peanut time!

I went on a huge walk today. Went to the bank to get a money order for the university (10 minute walk); walked over to the post office to mail the letter (5 minute walk); Walked to the stairs (10 minutes); Walked the stairs (10 minutes); Walked the trail (20 minutes); Walked home (10 minutes). For a grand total of 1 hour walk + 10 minutes on the stairs. Woohhooo.

I have a question to ask: If you look at my past 21 days of activity do you think that my activity is light i.e 1-3 times a week or do you think it's more of a 3-5 times a week. I want to make sure that I'm eating the right amount of calories so I keep losing.

Here are the measurements for week 3!

Day 1                           End of week 1    End of week 2   End of week 3    Loss
Chest 45 inches              43 inches           43 inches              42 inches         1 inch
Waist: 36 inches             34 inches            34 inches             33 inches         1 inch
Belly button: 42 inches   39 inches            37 inches             36 inches         1 inch
Hips: 44 inches               42 inches            41 inches             40 inches         1 inch
Thighs: 27 inches            25 inches            24 inches             24 inches            -
calves: 18 inches            16.5 inches          16 inches             16 inches            -
Total                                                                                                  4inches

So far I have lost 21 INCHES in 3 weeks!   Wooo!

Blah!

Don't worry Ella! It's not as bad as it sounds. I go to Washington State University and our expected amount of attending for one year is about 18,500... probably the same as yours. That 18,500 takes into account things like clothes, hygeine products, car payment, insurance, books, all that stuff. The dorms can get quite expensive... here they're about 5,000 a year! But tuition and dorms are the only things you absolutely have to pay... the rest goes into your pocket for your own budgeting. Also... I understand wanting to by a laptop... I think they're worth it. I bought mine about a year ago... so I went a year and a half of college not having one. It's do-able... but it definitely helps having one! I ordered one from dell and got it financed through them. I splurged a bit... got the perfect computer and printer, so I ended up spending 2000 and my payments are only 60/ mo. You don't have to spend that much if you don't want to though. College is very exciting... don't go crazy your first year though!!! I got lucky b/c I met my boyfriend right away and he kept me out of trouble because I spend all my time with him rather than partying too much... but I've seen a lot of my friends go too crazy and put themselves in danger. Universities really can be dangerous... but there are ways of lowering your risks... just be smart. Also, I think being in college helped me lose weight (as long as you lay off the  bongs and drunk munchies ). You walk around all day to get to your classes and you'll be really busy. I'm excited for you! Have fun!!! Oh yeah... and you're right... I don't think loans are too terrible to pay back. Most give you 6 mo- 1 yr. after you graduate to start paying back and the payments are pretty do-able.

DAY 22: INTERNING

Haha, today I stayed at school after lunch to help my chemistry teacher organize chemicals and files and such. it was very fun, I guess I sort of got a little perspective of how school might be next year. Fun!

Today I did a low carb high fat day to see if I might be carb sensitive (see if my bloating goes away) This way I'll know to eat peanuts and eliminate some of the refined carbs from my regime.

Not much exercise added to my regular routine of walking. It was a lazy day today! :apple:

It makes it all worthwhile, doesn't it?    Like today when I was at Curves, I watched one lady, who is probably about the size I was before I started losing weight.   She had to stop, on the recovery stations, and catch her breath!    That's where I was 2 yrs ago when I joined Curves (and I'd already lost 60 lbs at that point).....now I jog along on my little square, swinging my arms, and not at all winded.

Or today when I was on the walking path at the park, doing 2 miles.   All of a sudden I thought back to when I started working for the company I am now.   They participate in these "Challenge Games" against other businesses in town.    The easiest points for the team are acheived by walking a pre-designated circuit.    When I first started here, I literally could barely make the walk.   I was sore for days afterwards, and had blisters and leg cramps.   It is the equivalent of 2-3 times around the walking path at the park.........now I could go almost unendingly.

ISN'T IT THE GREATEST FEELING, ELLA?

We all need to remember that feeling, when we are tempted to indulge unendingly...........or go on a binge.   We've come a long way, and I never want to go back to being that obese person!
