My "fit" friend said to me one day--"I do not understand why people who want to lost weight CAN'T lose weight--it is so easy--you just eat healthy and workout". Well, I grappled with this statement trying to figure out why so many of us literally just find it so hard to "eat healthy and workout".
Yeah, I could sit here and tell you I have tried to lose weight, eat healthy, but as soon as the stress rolls in--I find myself eating nothing but candy and fattening foods to "cope" with my stress--but I am not going to bore you with that. I am going to tell you how I CHANGED all that.
I am 5'9, 180lbs, and 25 years old. I am in my second year of teaching and have gained almost 25 pounds in the last 3 years. I realized recently that change needs to happen. I have decided to do the following:
I am going to follow the 6 day detox from Monday to Saturday which includes eating six times a day for six days--the food that is on this plan--tuna, chicken, turkey, lettuce, berries, and mixed veggies, were all really cheap--so it was not expensive.
I am also doing TurboJam everyday. I tried TJ before but fell off the wagon during the summer when I went outside more to work out. So, now I want to get back on my routine doing Cardio Party1 and Turbosculpt throughout the week.
Honestly, I am so afraid that I am going to cheat this week. When I am at school there is always candy, food, donuts etc. that my students bring in every week. It is so tempting. But, then i think of that quote my friend gave me. She made it sound so easy. So, I need to "think" that it is going to be easy.
If anyone has any input that would be great. I am really hoping the combination of this online diary and my will--I can actually go back to what I looked like before I turned 21!!!!

I've joined a gym 3 years ago and I have had a blast taking classes every day and my peer group has changed to people in the gym who are healthy minded rather than all the obese people that I work with. This makes my life style change so simple as it is reinforced by my peer group.
I don't know how people can keep up with exercising in their homes or on machines at the gym. That sounds so boring to me and I think it might be one reason people "fall off the wagon". If you find an activity that you love to do, then you eagerly rush to do it every day as a treat. One of the classes I take is a turbo kickboxing class and it is much more fun than doing it at home. I bought Turbo Jam months ago thinking I'd us it at lunch time at home for a second workout but I have only watched 10 minutes of it as I am spoiled by the real thing and thought the video was boring in comparison.
I would highly suggest joining a gym that has a large variety of classes. You would have so much fun and at your age would develop a whole network of gym friends.

Be realistic and don't set unrealistic targets. It's okay to lapse occasionally if it's planned. That way you get to enjoy the anticipation while you're being good.
Best of luck with your efforts.

Well, today went well but I felt the temptation getting really hard this evening. I usually watch tv and eat/snack and with this six day diet I can't really eat anything. So, I am trying to keep myself busy so I do not want to eat.
I did the Turbo Jam Cardioparty today for 40 minutes. It was pretty fun! I liked the idea of possibly joining the gym but it is really expensive! I found out the one by my gym is over 300$ a year.
How many calories can I lose walking? It seems like I walk forever and I do not burn any calories. I figured the Turbo Jam would be better because I would lose more calories.
I am trying to lose weight fast but I know that is not realistic. I know I should expect 1-2 lbs. per week but...we'll see.
