Sunday's food was so long ago I can't remember it, so I'm not even gonna try. Monday's food is pretty hard to recall too, and its onlt Tuesday! I think I had nuts for breakfast, an egg mcmuffin no butter and no ham for a mid-morning meal, black bean garlic shrimp with veggies for lunch, some cinnamon graham crackers, 2 small pieces of Halloween candy, 1-2 triscuits, some Sour patch candy (like 300-350 cal worth ), lean cusiene cheese filled manicotti with marinera, 1/2 a slice of pita bread, a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich on light whole wheat, canned mixed fruit, and soy milk with sugar free chocolate syrup. Whew... thats alot!
Today is the Thanksgiving lunch at my daughter's preschool. I will not eat 3 pieces of pie, but that is about all I can promise!

The lunch at my daughter's day care was really nice. Only a few parents and grandparents were able to get away from work to come, but everyone had a good time and the food was fabulous! I hat mashed potatoes-no gravy, sweet potato casserole, corn on the cob, cranberry sauce (I made and it was really yummy!), one roll, a couple bites of mac & cheese, peanut butter chocolate chip cookie, a piece of sweet potato pie and juice to drink. I kept dinner really simple: apple slice with cheese and a large salad with my usual goodies on it. My calories were good and I got to eat some fatty yum-yums!

| Wednesdays' food has been Kashi cereal and soy milk, coffee with soy milk and splenda, Atkins brownie meal bar, a bean burrito "fresco style" from Taco Bell, sweet potato pie (2 slices- we aren't having any tomorrow, so I had to make up for that today!;)), lots of apple slices and some cheese chunks. Dinner will be something simple, maybe another salad or some whey protien mixed in with fat free plain yogert. We shal see...

I just wanted everyone who might happen along this to know that Peter (the moderator) is thinking of stepping down as the moderator and just letting the site go. Not closing it down, but not steadily keeping it going either.
I know we all depend on this site for our daily therapy and dose of nutrition knowledge and for whatever reason this site has been the best one to offer it. Peter has thought about hiring help, but hasn't been able to produce the income needed to allow for this. A great way to help would be to support this site by doing your holiday shopping from links provided through this site. Tell your friends about it, too. The more people that come to the site the more "hits" there are. More hits equals more people seeing the advertisements. This equals more cash for Peter to pay for assistance to keep this site going.
You can read more about Peter's thoughts about this topic in Blushrose's diary.
Take care and Happy Holidays!!

Hi Krystin,
Maybe I shouldn't have posted that. I was replying to her post about being so busy that it made her sad, and just thinking that having more time would be a postive for my life if I did ever give up on my site (because the company run sites are doing so much better than this old man's hobby).
Anyway, what you wrote is true but we're getting ahead of things. It will be a long time before anything happens... and it could all turn around. Too early for discussion really, so I shouldn't have started one! Haha.
Thanks, I do make a tiny percentage from sales from the SHOP link, though so little that I mostly have them there for my family to use. Might as well get a few pennies back to cover my costs.
What really matters is keeping up the number of visitors and having the word spread, so simply telling others about my site is the most important thing.
Next would be helping me with suggestions to improve it. Often when I discover something not working correctly it's something I "broke" months ago and I get upset that no one took the time to let me know. Suggestions are always welcome!
Thanks for your concern,
Peter

This first part is actually to Peter - I work for a fairly large company in Maine, and many of the employees are either on diets, or watching what they eat (might as well be on a diet). I will definitely let them know about this site, what it has to offer, and especially this board. I love this board!
Now for Krystin - unless I'm blind (40+ years old, and heading there pretty quick), I didn't notice any recent mention of exercise. Besides the normal daily routine (which sounds pretty hectic), do you have any free time for exercise? Even a 10-20 minute walk would help. On some days, I make it a point to quickly walk every aisle at our local Super Walmart. I also make sure I park as far away as I can, just for that extra walking distance. It can make a difference...
Good luck!!!

You're right, I don't exercise enough. It'll just sound like an excuse, but between working full time, going to school full time, raising a child and maintaining my home and my relationship, exercise has not been a priority. I do park at the back of the parking lot and I walk whenever I can. I am frequently on my feet at work, as I train adults with severe disabilities on their job. So if they bag groceries at the local supermarket I do it with them. Or if they collect carts for Wal-Mart I do it too. Like I said, I know it sounds like an excuse, but at this point having 1:1 time with my family and some time to sleep out-weigh the need to exercise. I try and get my family active with me, but its not always easy. My daughter will do a yoga video with me or play baseball and my guy always says we're gonna play tennis, but we have yet to test out the courts. I will try and get them moving with me.
Wednesday night I didn't eat the salad that I'd intended. My guy went to Bucca De Beppo's (I think thats the name) and got eggplant parm along with a pizza. I had opne slice of pizza and one slice of eggplant.
I woke up in the middle of the night feeling sick (wednesday night, Thursday morning). I wrote it off to poor food choices On Wednesday, but by Thursday morning I knew it was the flu. Yesterday was spent on the couch dosing off and on. I took some Theraflu and was able to eat a couple bites of green bean casserole and cheesy potatoes. I was also able to help put up the Christmas tree and a few indoor decorations. I didn't do much else though. 3 hours of being awake and slighty active pooped me right out! Around 6 p.m. I was hungry but felt like I was going to vomit at the same time. I got down 2 slices of toast and some water with no incident!!!
Breakfast today has bee one mini wheat bagel (80 cal) and water.

Well, I don't really remember my food from Friday 'til Sunday. Today's food: breakfast was fat free yogert with whey protien and Splenda. My mid-morning meal was an Atkin's peanut butter and chocolate meal bar (I had a sweet tooth and didn't want the unnecessary carbs. At least it has 19 g of protien and 10 g of fiber:)) Lunch was one slice of spinach and ricotta pizza with lots of water. My mid-afternoon meal was an egg salad sandwich. I had to buy it from Circle K 'cause a 1 pm meeting with a consumer ran late and I had to hurry from the north part of town to downtown so I could take another consumer to a job interview. It had 310 cal, lots of fat and no fiber, despite being on wheat bread. It was the best choice they had though. Diet Pepsi rounded out that meal. Dinner will be a salad with fake chicken nuggets. I've had 6 Triscuits for a snack today.
People suck! I am still developing a business mind. Well really just trying to understand those that have one; I never want to think in terms of "What will be good for business?" I am having a difficult time getting employers to let me in their establishments to tell them about the wonderful people I work with and all of the services that come with the employee if they will hire them (after a fair interview, OF COURSE! No one is looking for a handout here...). It is rather frustrating!! Most people say they are good and believe they are good. They will even give you examples of what they believe is good and try and tell you how they fit into these examples. But when it comes to brass tax few of them follow through on what they said they would do in the examples. I'm gonna go live on a commune!!!!

#%@&! people!!!
I'm up early trying to finish putting together a Power-Point pressentation for Thursday's class. It is like the final for this class, so it needs to be well put together. Next week I start a communications class. I'm glad time goes by quickly! I will have 6 credits by the end of Dec '05 and 36 by Dec '06. Add in my previous 20 credits from AZ and I'm halfway to my degree. If I can test out of a few classes then I will be able finish my degree in 2 years vs. the 3 1/2-4 it would take at any other university if I went full time. And if I went part time it would take me 8 years to get my degree!!!
Breakfast today was fat free plain yogert with whey protien and Splenda, 1/4 cup raw almonds, and coffee with soy milk and more Splenda.

I make this ymmy dessert made with riccotta cheese, cocoa powder and Splenda (South Beach Diet gave me the origional recipe, but mine tastes better:)) so when I was out of yogert to make my mroning protien mix I decided that cottage cheese isn't too far off from riccotta and that vanilla whey protien couldn't be too bad in place of cocoa powder so long as I included the Splenda. WRONG!!! EWWW! I threw out yesterday's breakfast and had a handful of alomds instead. Much better! My mid-morning meal was an egg with cheese and a side salad from Chick-Fil-A while visiting a consumer.
I got a call from my guy who had just gotten back from a doctor's appointment. He hadn't been to a doctor in years and finally got a physical. His blood work was horrible! His cholesteral was soomething like 360 and his triglicerides were off the chart. In fact, his cholesterol was so high they weren't able to read the last liver function. I felt so bad for him when he said that so I went home for an early lunch (just after my mid-morning meal:)). He sounds like he is ready to make some changes in his diet and lifestyle, which is a good thing for our whole family!
While home I ate some Barilla pasta, the wheat one with extra protien and omega-3's, a 1/2 cup of marinera to go with it and some iced tea. Later I had a snack of Only 8 frozen yogert (fat and cholestrol free, low sugar, super yummy, I've mentioned it before). My late afternoon meal was a tuna fish sandwich on wheat from the vending machine at work, plus a Diet Coke. Dinner was popcorn and Goobers and Diet Pepsi at the movies. I drank lots of water throughout the day, but was still thristy. Probably due to all the soda I had today.
I picked up my veggies from the lady I share a farm membership with becuase I missed Sunday's trip. Lots of yummies and no excuses to not eat my veggies! I like veggies, in fact I'm always the one bringing veggie trays to parties. But some of the stuff I get from the farm is scary! I have no idea what it is, what it tastes like, how to cook it... Thats where my guy comes in. He is always willing to taste it first and decide how it would best be prepared. True love !

Yesterdays food consisted of lots of PMS goodies. I mean LOTS! Breakfast was a smoothie made with soy milk, frozen fruit, whey protien and a splash of Splenda. Then I ate lots of almonds, raw as usual. My mid-morning meal was more almonds. Then I had 3 peanut butter chocotale chip cookie for a total of 315 calories. Lunch was a frozen veggie lasagna, 350 cal and 30 g of protien so that was good. I also had a bag of Orville Redenbackers 94% fat free popcorn. Not the mini bag, but the whole big bag! On my way to school I stopped at a Wendy's where one of my consumer's works and ate a small frosty. Dinner was a cup of coffee with cream and Splenda. I guess it really wasn't all that bad, except for the cookies and frosty. But I felt grose after all that!
Breakfast today has been a smoothie with the same goodies as yesterday, plus vitamins. I don't have any idea what the rest of todays meals will be like, but I think I'd Like some salmon nd a side salad from Mimi's Cafe. It is Friday and payday and I'm feeling a little festive! Funny how a good dose of chocolate can do that for you!
My presentation went well yesterday. I have had to give in-class presentations 2-3 times per class for the last 5 weeks and it has never been a big deal. Last night I was really nervous! My voice even started cracking! I still think we did really well and compared to the other presentations ours was much more polished and well put together. My next class starts on Thursday next week and is essentially an English class. Lots of reading and essay writting. I already have all of my English credits from AZ, but for some reason they make everyone take this class. I suppose that is a good thing since I could use some brushing up on my grammar and spelling in my writting.
Have a great day!

On Friday I did have the meal at Mimi's. I also had a Hershey's dark chocolate bar... the whole thing! A whopping 510 calories! But it was worth it! Saturday and Sunday were free for all days. My guy has been put on a 1500 cal per day, almost no cholesterol, low-fat diet and he picked his start date for Monday (today). So this weekend we endulged in many of our guilty pleasures: I had a chimichanga (veggie of course), with rice and beans, guacamole, and sour cream, ice cream topped with chocolate sauce, fried tortilla things topped with sugar and cinnamon, and other goodies like peanut butter chocotae chip cookies. I ate less than what I would have on any other day 3 years ago, but I felt like i totally engorged myself!
Today was a different story. Breakfast was my guys famous eggs made low-fat style (all egg wgites, no cheese, etc.) He can make anything taste good! I also had a wheat biscuit, vitamins and water. I snacked on some raw almonds. Lunch was P.F. Chang's: coconut curry-veggie-tofu-peanut dish with brown rice. I ate all of the rice and about 1/3 of the lunch sized protion of the dish. Lots of water to drink. I also ate 2 veggie dumplings (they are mini pasta squares the size of a half-dollar and are filled with veggies, like a ravioli). I had a fruit cup for a snack. Dinner will be eitherSauted lentils with couscous and mango or barley and black bean salad with yogert and grapes (edites recipes). Depends on which takes longer to cook. I think I'm gonna have a snack of a couple Trscuit while I prepare dinner.
OHHH! I almost forgot. I packed my workout clothes and used my center's on-site gym for an hour workout after finishing up for the day!

Dinner ended up being the bean and barley salad. I made the slad and then let it chill, as was recommended. So while I was waiting I ate the yogert and grapes that I was supposed to have with it, plus a few triscuits that were suppsed to be part of a snack earlier in the day. By the time I ate thosE things I was full! My giy ate the salad when he woke up and I had a few bites with him. It wasn't too bad for being low-fat, low-cal, etc.
Breakfast this mroning was cheese and tomato toast with orange juice and 12 almonds. I was only supposed to have 2 slices of toast, but I had 3 since they were on low cal bread (60 cal per slcie vs. 100-110 per slcie for most wheat breads.) It was really yummy and easy. I think you'd like it Valerie (if you're reading this). Just slice some tomato (I used Roma), put the slices on on the bread, sprinkle with cheese (I used 2% Kraft mozzerella) and put in the oven under the broiler until the cheese melts. I add seasonings like garlic pepper and Itallian blend (oregano, parsley, etc.).
I just had a snack of grapes (they were supposed to be part of breakfast and lunch, but I like to munch all day so I'm eatin' then for a snack instead). Lunch will be cheese asparagus frittata with toast and salad (2 cups greens, tomato slices, 2 tbs olive oil vinegrette), I'll have a snack of "healthy" egg salad on crackers, and dinner will be marinated chickpeas (chickpeas, olive oil, red wine vinegar, garlic, celery, red bell pepper, fresh basil, oregano) with spinach salad (spinach and mixed greens, olive oil vinegrette, salt and pepper), an apple, and a few more almonds.
My guy and I took our "Before" pictures last night. My belly fat hung over my unmentionables! We are gonna take pics every Monday to chart our progress. It is amazing how much belly fat I have. When I was in the gym at work I was the only one there. I lifted up my shirt a tad and could see my fat not just jiggle, but roll in waves! I carry my weight fairly well (trim legs and decent arms make that not too hard), but I have to be careful 'cause lately sitting is not so comfortable with all the rolls trying to pop out from my size 12 jeans (I really should be wearing a 14, but refuse to go up a size). Having my guy start his make-over has given me the motivation to get past the 166-170 lb fluctuations, make time for exercise, and actually cook the meals I plan. It is so much easier when your family goes along for the ride. I don't feel like making the "healthy" stuff is putting my family on an unwanted diet (or forcing me to cook for just myslef) anymore.

I didn't have the marinated bean salad 'cause i didn't read the recipe very well and it takes 8 hours to marinate! I also had to work until 7 p.m. trying to get files ready for an audit we have this morning. They didn't tell us who would be audited until 4 pm so I had 3 hours to get 3 files in tip-top shape, which is hard when you have to drive all over town to get signatures on consent forms that expired 3 days earlier. I understand why they do it though... what is the point of an audit if you have a weeks notice We should always have our files up to date, but that is just not reality. :)
So back to food intake: I did eat my frittatta and my egg salad. I also ate Twizzlers, but they were within my calorie range. I wasn't able to work out because the cleaning crew came early (6 p.m. instead of 8 p.m.) and they are the ones that set the alarm (I have no idea how to do it or what the codes are). So they were done cleaning by 7 p.m. and I had to rush out at the same time as them. Luckily I had just barely finished my last file that is being audited. When I got home my guy had made mango poppyseed tillapia for me. He also had a salad ready and some couscous that he seasoned up with curry. He is my HERO! So although I didn't exercise I ate pretty well and I gave my guy about 25-30 minutes worth of a back and foot massage. That counts for something, right? ;)
I was up by 5:30 a.m., layed in bed 'til 6 then worked out for 25 minutes on my elliptical. Before working out I ate 4 almonds and 1 tbs of couscous. Afterwards I had 6 oz of Stoneyfield Farms fat free peach yogert (120 cal). I also made a mediteranian style pizza with a tortilla brushed with olive oil, seasoned with Itallina herbs, some pepper, some salt, topped with tomato slices and 2 % mozzerella. Broiled that 'til the cheese melted and was slightly browned on the edges (300 cal). I also had about 75 cal of rasins. Lots of water and vitmains, too.

It sounds like you are doing great Krystin. Keep up the good work!!
It does make it so much easier when your family is eating healthy with you. My husband goes through phases where he wants to eat healthy all the time then he will go through a phase where he just wants to eat junk. His weight usually fluctuates up and down over the same 10 pounds depending on what phase he is in. Once he sees his weight go up 10 pounds (which is still skinny for him) he has the willpower to get it back down quickly. My biggest temptations come when he is in his junk food stage, but things are so much easier on me when he is in his healthy phase.
Taking the before and after pictures is a good idea. I think I will try that too.
Good luck on your audit!!! I know how pesky auditors can be (I am one ;)).

Thanks Aryn! I think the audit went well... a.k.a. I didn't get called in for an interview to explain anything.:D
Lunch yesterday was Pizza Hut while visiting a consumer (medium thin crust cheese- 3 slices, salad - lots of it, dessert pizza - 1 small slice of apple cinn cobbler). It was the first pizza I had in about 2 weeks, a definate improvement over twice a week. Dinner was at Harry's. It is a chain that is new to Tampa and is supposed to be New Orleans style. I had pecan crusted catfish and a garden salad with a feta dressing. I ate 2 small pieces of bread with hered butter. So yesterdays food were a little higher calorie and not quite as nutritious as I'd like, but still weren't horrible either.
Breakfast today was 3 egg whites with one egg yolk, red bell pepper, onion, and lots of seasonings. I also had some Trscuits, almonds, and berries that I blended with soy milk to make a shake. That was alot of food and was eaten over a period of several hours. Lunch was healthy tostadas (2 corn torillas, fat-free refried beans with extra flavorings and salsa, 2% cheese) and a roma tomato with salt and pepper and a little oil vinagrette dressing. That was also eaten over the course of a couple hours. I just had a snack of Rece's Pieces (like 50 cal worth), 1 graham cracker (65 cal) and 5 or 6 more almonds. I am full and satisfied and will not eat again until right before class tonight. I am planning to have a salad that amounts to about 125 cal. At school I will have a coffee and some 94% fat free popcorn.

I didn't eat again until before class, but I also didn't eat my salad. I had some grapes and a can of flavored tuna that came with some crackers (250 cal). I ate some of a classmate's banana bread, just 2 bites.
Class was great. My instructor is very passionate about what she does, so much so that parts of her instruction got me teary eyed during class. I'm not much of a crier so that is really saying something. My classmates have a hard time putting together a complete sentence or constructing a well thought out paragraph. I suppose people are coming to this class to learn more about how to create and present quality written communication, but I thought that many things were standard knowledge that was passed along in elementary school.
Breakfast today was Kashi cereal with soy milk. My mid morning meal was a mulitgrain bagel with egg and cheese and a side salad from Chick-Fil-A. I'm off to pick up my daughter from day care, as she is not feeling well. I'm not sure what the rest of today's meals will be, but I will make healthy choices.

Yesterday I ended up eating some 94% fat free Orville Redenbacher popcorn and a banana with peanut butter for lunch. I had a snack of cinnamon graham crackers. Dinner was Red Lobster: tilapia in a bag (half size) with a garden salad that was topped with a touch of balsamic vinegrette, and water to drink. I ate one cheddar bay biscuit, too. I used to eat 3 before the meal even came!
Breakfast today has been Kashi Go Lean cereal (without the sweet Crunch!), soy milk, and more soy milk to wash down my vitamins. I have my learning team meeting this morning. I was supposed to write a narrative essay and have my team review it. They are supposed to write 3 positive comment and 3 comments about how to improve it, but I don't even have the narrative done. My guess is that no one else has it done either. We can just email them to one another, I suppose.
I am having a horrible time with my daughter's day care. I've always had a problem with them, but they seemed to have gotten some things under control. At lest that is what I thought. I wrote an email requesting to meet with the director and she never bothered to even write back. The preschool teacher called and wrote back, but there is nothing that she can do because all of the policies are dictated by the director. UGH!

That's how bureaucracies (on however small a scale) get away with things..
They give you a moving target.
Ask to see their written policy on the timescale for replying to communications. If they don't have one, that tells you a lot.

I have spent so much time trying to find a learning center that will allow me to work and my daughter to get an education in a nurturing environment. After extended research I think I found the greatest facility in town. It is affordable (only 25 more per week than my daughter's current day care), it is a nationally acredited private school; not a day care. They have extended hours, catered meals, low ratios, seperate classrooms for each age group ( 3's and 4's aren't mixed). I'm taking a tour tomorrow. I hope it is as good as it sounds!
FOOD! I don't really know how I've done because I haven't been writting it down. :D I had 2 donuts on Saturday, a South Beach meal bar (it was really good, too!), grown up beverages, and I don't remember what else. Not a good day overall though. Sunday's food was yogert, eggs, avacado and water for breakfast. Plus a few Triscuits. Lunch was "healthy" tostadas. Dinner was something or another. I had a couple beverages (Diet DP & rum, as usual) and a snack of toasted tortillas with roasted red peppers and hummus.
Breakfast otday (Monday) was a trip to the Brunchery. I had a mini chocolate chip muffin, yogert filled crepes that were topped with more yogert and strwberries with bananas. Water to drink. Lunch was Boston Market: cesear side salad, mac & cheese, and steamed veggies. Dinner was a pb&j on low cal whole wheat with soy milk. Triscuits for a snack. Today was much better than the weekend!

The tour went well. My daughter will start on Monday! One issue resolved, 10 to go :)
I don't feel very motivated to write down my meals anymore; I'm eating well for the most part. This comes and goes in waves so next week I'll probably be all about writing down every little morsel that enters my mouth. For now its just about making the best choice each time I decide to eat. Im working on fewer carbs, particularly of the bread persuasion. Veggies and fruit are grand, but the crackers have to go!
I have to finish up some school stuff before meeting tonight. Until next time...

| I'm glad you've found a better school for your daughter. Hopefully now you can focus more on reaching your personal goals. I've found that the only periods that I can lose weight is when I really want it - and am holding myself accountable. I am to the point now where I make healthy enough choices that I will maintain my weight when I'm not dieting or "watching what I eat". If you aren't feeling particularily inspired or have the great need to lose - then you won't. Have you been maintaining your weight? I am down to 151 now :) and have a bigtime goal of getting to 149 by new year's - getting past the 150s will be a huge accomplishment for me. I still read your journal - so keep me updated.

Hey Collegstudent! Its good to hear from you. I have been maintaining 166-168. This week is 166. For 5'10" that is a normal weight, but I've got lots of belly flab and want to be at 150 by the end of May. I don't think food is the issue; exercise is the issue! I've established some great excuses, too! But, in the end I just need to get off my rump and do something. I am inspired to loose, but I'm just not inspired to jot down every almond or banana that crossed my lips. How is school going for you?
Disclaimer: I am not particularly skilled in correctly writing the English language. Now heres the issue: my classmates don't know what a verb is. Defining the word verb should be like knowing a period ends a statement. As I said, I am not an English major and I will punctuate sentences wrong, spell words wrong, and forget definitions of compound complex sentences, but I know what a verb is! How do you get to college and not have a basic understanding of English principles. Enough of my ramblings. It shouldn't be a big deal, but I am bothered by it.
My carbs for the day have come from Kashi Go Lean! cereal. The rest of the day will be veggies and protien.

Friday was a Christmas banquet for all of the consumers I work with. I stayed away from the main course (mashed potatoes, gravy, turkey, etc.) and instead ate 2 starter salads, a side of steamed veggies, 2 wheat rolls and dessert. I should have skipped the dessert. I have minimal desire to skip it is the problem. What would life be without a piece of chocolate something-or-another at the end of a meal from time to time. I sure don't want to find out!;) That was the only carb heavy junk I ate. I had a South Beach Bar for my mid-morning meal and tilapia with broccoli and cauliflower for a late lunch/mid-afternoon meal.
Saturday was Mimi's for breakfast (spinach and feta omelet, minus the muffin and fried potatoes, plus coffee and water). Lunch was P.F. Chang's Ma Po Tofu. It was 750 cal for the whole plate, of which I had 1/3. I'm not sure how much the brown rice was that came with it. Dinner was another 1/3 of the meal with more brown rice. (The last 1/3 was dished up between my guy and our daughter.) I had a handful of almonds for a snack. Rum and diet DP rounded out the day.
Sunday's breakfast was Kashi Go Lean. I have no idea what the rest of the days meals will be. I'm sure that it won't include eating out after yesterday's $50 blown down the drain (or down the esophagus).

Sunday's lunch was a South Beach bar and almonds. Dinner was a trip to the Mellow Mushroom where I ate a 'Lil Greek salad. I ordered a tempeh sandwich, too, but it had chicken on it by mistake and I was full so that went in the trash. Rum and diet DP in the evening.
Breakfast today was a South Beach bar. They are really good. Think granola bar meets meal replacement bar meets chocolate and peanut butter. YUM!:P I had coffee with cream while grocery shopping very early this morning. Lunch was a side of veggies and a veggie roll from a Chinese joint in the mall. I took one of my consumer's there to celebrate the fact that she successfully landed a job at Starbucks just an hour earlier! I have no idea what food will be for the rest of the day.
My daughter started her new school today. I stopped by at 11 am just to see how she was doing and she seems to be doing really well. I am so greatful for that. There is no worse feeling than thinking that you caused your child harm (in this instance by potentilly choosing a horrible school for her to attend). I met with my enrollment counselor at U of Phx to review my resume. He gave me some great pointers. I hope that I am able to find a job I really love, am good at, and will make a bit more money. In Tampa's job market that can be alot to ask for! On a more positive note, one of my consumer's starts a new job Jan. 2nd at Starbucks and I'm pretty proud of her and myslef for landing that job!
I have to review school work before meeting with my Learning Team this evening.

I ate well the rest of Monday. I don't remember what I ate, but I remember that I wasn't disappointed in myself at the end of the day.
Tuesday I had Kashi with soy milk for breakfast. My mid-morning meal was a banana with peanut butter. Lunch was Sweet Tomatoes and I only had a salad with veggies and beans topped with raspberry flavored vinegar and water to drink. Dinner was Pizza Hut. One of my consumer's works there and the manager invited me to bring my daughter for a Christmas party with Santa. I ate a personal pan veggie lover's (even though it was pan it was better than getting a medium thin crust veggie lovers because I would have eaten the whole thing; a personal pan has built in portion control) with a salad and diet Pepsi to drink.
Today I haven't done too badly, but I haven't done very well wither. Breakfast was Kashi cereal with soy milk (around 350 cal due to larger than recommended portion). My mid morning meal was a spicy Boca chicken patty (160 cal) on wheat bread (100 cal for 2 slices) with 2 slices of reduced fat swiss cheese (60 cal per slice for a total of 120 cal), several leaves of romaine lettuce (5 cal), and spicy 3 pepper mustard with sun dried tomato/basil hummus for moistness and flavor(30 cal). I had 2 can of sugar free juice flavored stuff (20 cal total). I had 3 (:chew:) of those cookies I used to always get from the organic bakery because I had an awful sweet tooth and wanted to make a healthier choice than an entire box of specialty chocolates. I didn't mean to eat 3 of them though & (200 cal/10 grams fiber/.3 grams of fat each for a total of 600 cal/30 g fiber/ 1 g fat). That is an estimated 1385 cal by 3 p.m. Dinner was another sandwich for another 385 calories. That is a total of 1770. I'm supposed to eat around 1800 cal a day (there are some advantages to being tall :)) so I'm right on track even though I could have gone without the cookies and added more salad/veggies.

I forgot that I had some Hershey's Kisses today, too. I don't remember how many, maybe a serving size worth? That adds another 200 cal or so. I will have to exercise as soon as my dinner settles.
My daughter is really enjoying her new school. They are really big on positive reinforcement and she comes home with a treat every day as a reward for good behavior. Monday was a candy cain, Tuseday was a party favor blower thing, and today was a plastic whistle. She is excited to start the dance classes that they offer there, too. AND, it turns out that they only cost $16 more per week than the other day care! It is one of those things that is too good to be true, but so far I haven't discovered the downside.
I finished all of my Christmas shopping today, along with alot of my wrapping. Every year my guy and I say, "We're not going to buy our daughter a ton of stuff because the rest of the family will. Just one big Santa gift and some clothes." But, every year we limit ourselves and every year she still gets too much stuff! Our tree has a skirt of pressents and Santa hasn't even come yet. Instead of worrying that our daughter will end up a spoiled little girl we will be greatful that she is very loved .

Wow!! It has been quite some time since I have been to this site. For awhile I was getting obsessed about logging info and reading other people's logs. It was to the point that I wasn't able to do a workout because I was online so much! It is good to be back! :)
I recently registered to participate in the Susan G. Koman 3 Day walk to raise funds for breast cancer. The walk is 60 miles over 3 days and I am dedicated and motivated. I have requested for financial assistance from the YMCA to pay for a membership to their facilities and I am already logging lots of miles for my pre-training. The REAL training starts in a couple weeks, at which point I will walk a minimum of 12 miles per week, but up to 40 or so for special trainings.
I have guaranteed my intent to participate by paying a $90 fee to register. If I want to participate in the event I need to raise $2,200 by October 13th, the day of the Tampa Bay event. As of this entry I have raised $25, but I only registered 3 days ago so I don't think I'm off to a bad start!! ;) If you would like to support me please go to my personal fund raising web page at http://www.the3day.org/TampaBay06/kbarrett096

I applied for a discounted membership to the YMCA so that I can train for the event. I will need to do "road training" for the most part, but I also need a place that offers free child care and weight training plus other cross training machines so I don't get injured. Keep your fingers crossed that it gets approved! :) For now I have a temporary pass and will be going there tonight to workout. Afterwards I'll take my daughter for a dip in the heated pool!
So far I have gotten off to a great start. I had a complete physical yesterday including an EKG and blood work. I need a hip x-ray because I've been having some pain there. Doc says it is probably just my body getting used to a regular workout routine again, but wants to be on the safe side.
Have a great day! ~Krystin

Suenos: THANKS!!!!! :) :)
I busted by booty at they gym today! This upcoming week I am going to walk 5 miles on three days (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) and I am going to do a strength training routine 2 days (Tuesday and Thursday). The other 2 days will be "Do whatever you want so long as you are active" days.
Exercise was a big fat bummer until I had a reason to do it. Sure, heart health and bone density matter, but who thinks, "Man, I gotta do 10 more squats or 25 years from now I could experience a fracture,"? Yeah, I didn't think anyone else thought that either. :D

As of today I have raised $75 officially, with another $175 on it's way either via snail mail or payments. "THANK YOU" to everyone that has offered their support!!! If you would like to contribute please see my March 2, 2006 posting.
So what is it about adulthood that allows you to actually appreciate the quotes on signs outside of local shops? "Love life and life will love you back," and all that jazz.
Saturday was not an official workout day and I spent it in Sarasota (an hours drive south of Tampa/St. Pete) doin' the "tourist in your own town" thing: touring aquariums, taking over-priced boat rides, applying sunscreen more often than necessary. Sunday was spent walking throughout the town, eating lunch on the beach, and once home walking an additional 2.5 miles. GOOD TIMES!!

Krystin!
I've missed your posts! I'm so glad your back! It seems like a lot of people "disappeared" after the holidays. I had lost a lot of motivation over the winter but now I've got a new journal titled "Our Self Challenge." I'm sharing it w/ another girl and we are challenging ourselves to lose our last 10 pounds by the end of May.
I'm happy to hear that you're participating in the Susan G. Koman 3 Day walk! It sounds like a lot of fun and hard work, but definitely well worth it. Keep up the great work!

Hi Corina! It was good to hear from you again! I'd wish you luck on your goals, but I know that you have amazing strength and are very persistent. Who needs luck when you have that going for you? ;)
This has been an odd week. I was busy, busy, busy all of last week until a car accident slowed me down. :( The car was totaled, but I am safe and healthy, aside from a few sore muscles and a couple bruises. Needless to say my training has stalled a bit and I will need to pick up where I left off SOON! (A.K.A. WITH A QUICKNESS!!;))
This morning my guy and I went for a bike ride on a trail that is nearby. SO MUCH FUN! I forgot how much I like to ride a bike. It doesn't even feel llike exercise!
Wishing everyone a wonderful day! ~Krystin

The "Y" is ! I did my 1st of 3 free sessions with a trainer. Turns out that I have to sweat to loose weight, who knew But seriously, he helped me find discover what it feels like to be at my target heart rate while working out, plus we set some great goals for the next 2 weeks.
Update: I have raised a total do $400.00 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3 Day! (My web page says $315.00, but checks are in the mail!) I have $1,800.00 to go! I love the class I'm taking at University of Phoenix. Its all 'bout teams; how to form 'em, build 'em, make 'em stronger, and so on. I'll be a world class manager when I'm done!
Tonight I'm goin' to a yoga class at the Y, but before that I'll do about an hour of cardio and leg strength training. I was contemplating waiting around for the Publishers Clearing House Prize Patrol to come by and suprise me with their $10,000,000.00 Super Prize, but they missed my place last month and ended up in San Diego instead. Might as well work on defining my curves and centering my Chi :).

Hi Aryn! How was your race? I need to catch up on some reading, as you can see ;). How is the baby? Thanks for your encouragement!
Friday was super busy. I ended up getting off of work late, picking up my daughter 10 minutes late (earning me a $10 late charge at the preschool), and about 3 other things didn't go my way or fit into my plan for the day. I was gonna call it a night, go home, re-heat leftovers, and veg in front of the TV, but my daughter was dedicated to going to the "Y", so that it what we did. Turns out the buddy system is pretty effective when it comes to getting motivated to go to the gym (even though my partner is only 4 :D). I missed the yoga class, but I did a 5 minute warm up on the treadmill, followed by 30 minutes walking at a 4.0 miles/hour pace, another 15 minutes jogging at a 5.0 pace, and another 10 minutes of walking at a 3.5 pace. I cooled down for 5 and stretched for 10. Needless to say, I was pretty proud of my self!
Saturday and Sunday were rest days and I spent them shopping, b-b-q-ing, and lounging. Today (Monday) I went for a 6.5 mile bike ride with my guy.
