Plan begun September 13, 2010
Journal all food in notebook, report here, try not to eat over 1600 calories.
Walk 1 hour, do standing calisthenics, six days per week.
Thursday: juice, milk, Arby's jr, veg soup, salad, dressing, salmon, peanut butter, bread, milk, cereal
Total 1525
Note: Volumetrics' principle of a big salad or a big bowl of soup before meals is really helping with the hunger.
Mantra: There will be more food.

Hope you made it through your day, Terabyte!
Monday weight; 189 (down 3lbs) Not a whole lot for week one but that's okay as long as I continue to lose something. Calorie average was 1466.
If I can lose 15 lbs between now and Christmas, that will take me from obese to overweight according to the BMI scale. Boy, I sure would love to be overweight.

Looks like you're doing really good again this week! And 3 pounds in a week is GREAT!

You're doing great Sylphide. The longer you keep at it, the easier it gets. And I agree, 3 lbs is a lot even for the first week.

Thanks Terabyte and Nancy!
Sunday:juice milk; fish sandwich; mac& cheese, white palace burger, brussel sprouts, apple.
Total:1230
Weeks average:1304
Monday weight 188, 1 pound loss.
I had been hoping for more. I used to lose 2 or 3 pounds per week during the first month or two of dieting and then would settle to one or one and a half pounds for the rest of the year. A few nights last week, I had trouble sleeping because I was so hungry so lowering the calorie total doesn't seem like an option right now. We'll see.

Frustrated by the small weight loss, I told Hubs he could pick any place he wanted for lunch yesterday so, of course, he picked his favorite, the Chinese buffet.
Monday: juice, milk, salad, Waldorf salad, pineapple, cantaloupe, spinach, garlic bread, rice, buttered chicken, sesame chicken, eggroll, doughnut, ice cream.
Total calories: Unknown
I just can't handle buffets and tomorrow it's off to the surgeon's in Columbus, so that will be an out of control day, too, I imagine. Restart next week.

April 1, 2011, 200 lbs. Started low cholesterol, no sugar diet per Zocor site. Cholesterol 270.
Recovering from leg surgery to remove hardware with a view to probablly having a knee replacement soon.
I haven't weighed since April1, although I've stuck to the plan. My fear is that I will be too discouraged by the slow loss to continue. Looking back to my last diet in October it was the 1 pound per week loss that caused me to give up.
Oh well. I'm hungry 24/7 so maybe that means some fat is being burned.

Sorry, Nancy, I was late getting back.
I've been eating about 1000 calories per day. I have a prefigured five day plan, with weekends being a little more spontaneous (and harder. ) This past week I've been on vacation from the diet as a reward for sticking to it between doc visits. He started me on something for a sluggish thyroid and Zocor for cholesterol five months ago. Last week's blood tests showed that my cholesterol had gone from 270 to 143 and my thyroid had actually gotten a little fast so he took me right off the synthroid. So yes. I improved and lost 34 pounds but I still need to lose at least 20 more pounds. Tomorow I weigh and see how much damage the vacation has done and start again.
Sample day:
Monday
Breakfast
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup skim milk in coffee (Same breakfast every day, 100 calories)
Lunch
Subway turkey on whole wheat with veggies (lunch always 400 calories, usually fast food like Burger King's broiled chicken sand)
Dinner
salad with low fat dressing
1 cup pasta
1/4 cup mozarella cheese
1/2 cup pasta sauce
(dinner is always 500 calories)
Tuesday dinner is burritos, Wednesday dinner is salmon, steamed veg and rice, etc.
It helps me a lot not to have to make too many decisions and, fortunately my family doesn't mind having a routine. They just get bigger portions.
Frankly I'm a little scared about getting back on the plan after loosening my grip on the feast beast.

It's always interesting, if rather depressing, to come back and read this diary. I started it 6 years ago and have gained and lost four or five times since then. I seem to top out at around 200 pounds, lose between 30 and 40 pounds. Stop. Regain.
Today I weigh 199 lbs. I see here, that ten months ago I weighed about the same, lost 34 lbs, regained. I wonder, if I hadn't dieted at all, if I would still be around 200 lbs. Is that my new "set weight?" I doubt it. I think, if I hadn't dieted at all last year, I would have gained at least ten pounds.
I don't have a new plan at the moment, I'm just checking in since it's been almost six months.
I'm always heartened and inspired to see some of the same people, still here, still fighting the good fight. God bless all of you!
