:shooting_star:Exercise:  Turbo Jam Punch Kick & Jam dvd

 :apple:Calorie Intake:  1770

All I can say is WOW.  That dvd kicked my butt literally.  So far, I think this is my favorite (besides Cardio Party 1).  I liked the somewhat repetitiveness of the sequences; it makes it a bit easier for a newbie to follow along. Not so many fancy moves, too.  It says to do Ab Jam also today, but I chose not to...I had so much sweat dripping there was no way I was gonna pop another dvd in .  That 'turbo' session was awesome!

Tomorrow's dvd is Fat Blaster; I haven't previewed it yet...but will later.  Since it's only 30 min long, Chalene must have some tricks up her sleeve.

:shock:Ok I watched that dvd...4 turbo sessions -yikes!  No wonder it's only 30 minutes; looks really fun though...can't wait to try it tomorrow.

The fat blaster was awesome. The 4 turbos fly by. You look at the clock and can't believe you're almost through. The second time I did it, I was bracing for the last Turbo and she went into her cooldown. We had already done 4 turbos!:dog:

No exercise...WAY too many calories to count... but I had a great time.  Our son was home from college (since Fri nite) and we grilled outdoors today and I totally overate...and ended the evening with a chocolate bar (the WHOLE thing)...what was I thinking???  I guess part of it was simply because it was great to finally all be together for a meal and I'm sure the chocolate bar was due to the fact that I'm depressed he is leaving again...LOL...just rationalizing.  It's way too easy to fall back on those bad habits.  I won't beat myself up too bad...I'll just have to fit in more exercise this week in repayment.  It kinda ticks me off though; I've had another good week and saw good results with the scale...getting super close to that 30 pound loss mark...and then I go and do something stupid like this.  They say live and learn; but apparently I never learn.  I guess I'll just have to be ok with having a big screw-up day every now and then!

Ok...tomorrow I will be doing the Fat Blaster dvd...maybe I should hit 'play' a couple times...:grin::grin::grin:

Scoobees....seriously. Don't beat yourself  up at all. Like we said before, sometimes (maybe once a week or so) it is actually GOOD for your mental and physical self to "be bad" or switch up the old routine. Your body adjusts way too easily if you dont. So..its a good thing you ate all your calories and indulged a bit tonight. Now, you will get back to the routine and not feel like you need a "break"...I feel  like its just the same when you go away on vacation, it helps cause you can get back into the routine without feeling "deprived" or whatever. You know what I mean??

Don't worry too much about the high cal. eating over the weekend, Scoobees. I've been doing that essentially every weekend since I started this "new me" program. Sometimes a few high cal. days trigger a big bump in metabolism and encourage your body to burn more fat. Enjoy fat blaster!

Get back on the wagon, start eating smart again, you'll keep losin'.:dog:

Thanks OWF & Skipper; I totally agree with you guys...and I know you're right...but I really didn't want to get THAT carried away LOL.  A long time ago I used to do just that - pick one day (usually Fri, Sat, or Sun) to eat whatever...a 'cheat day' to not feel guilty about.  And it worked really well for me; and weight loss continued.  However, in recent years my cheat DAY turned into DAYS - sometimes the whole weekend and into Monday and of course I stopped losing weight.  I guess I have a hard time learning to trust myself again.  I don't want to blow all my progess to heck again!  One good side effect - I'm not hungry at all today!:grin:  Gotta have a sense of humor.

Time to get into my workout clothes and start Turbo Jammin'.

Sunday I had a huge cheat day...cinnamon rolls for breakfast, burrito for lunch, ice cream for supper...went to the movies and thought "wow, I don't even want a candy bar" well duh! Cause you've been eating all day!

 :apple:Calorie Intake:  1725

I was a little sluggish during my workout today...I wonder if it was due to the gazillion calories I ate yesterday?? D'oh!!  Loved the dvd!  It was over before I realized...I was able to keep up pretty well; I wasn't able to do all 4 turbos in high impact fashion - but most of the time at least!  Tomorrow is cardio party 2 - I can't wait to check it out!!  Maybe I'll be out of my food coma by then.

Hello, Scoobees
I just wanted to let you know, I did 3T last night and I think you're right, it was almost too easy. I've seen stronger resistance bands on e-Bay. I'm thinking of buying a set that has 5 different resistance levels. I think many bands are color coded based upon different tension levels. I'll let you know if I try them. The live booty sculpt is a really good sculpting video. She's got some amazing students in her class. The woman with 7 children has probably the best six-pack abs I've ever seen! I've got too many stretch marks to ever get her abs. Mine are shaping up pretty well, though. They're about the best I've ever had, and that's after two children.

On another note...I can't choose a favorite Turbo Jam DVD. It's like choosing between my own children. LOL. They all have parts I absolutely love. Most of them have a part that I just can't seem to nail...or where I'm less than graceful. I now select based on time constraints and whether I'm doing cardio or sculpting. Cardio party 1 is my old standby. It's my default setting when I can't decide. Not too long, not too short, not too clumsy. Cardio party 3 is my gung-ho goddess workout. Punch, Kick, & Jam is very similar to 3. I've only done it once, though.:dog:

Great idea Skipper about the stronger resistance bands; let me know if you find a decent set.  I would much rather invest in varying resistance bands than using multiple sets of dumbells.  It's much simpler to use the tubing than constantly switching dumbells.  And then I leave 'em laying around...here...there....  But as it is, 3T was a bit too easy with those bands.

:shooting_star:Exercise:  Turbo Jam Cardio Party 2

 :apple:Calorie Intake:  1766

Well, I should have known better...LOL.  I got a bit cocky yesterday with the Fat Blaster dvd and even though it was my first time doing it - I tried to do everything high impact.  When will I ever learn (obviously never lol!) that just because you CAN do it doesn't mean you SHOULD do it.  A little over a DECADE ago it wasn't such an issue.  The gym I belonged to back then offered all sorts of hi-lo classes, step, kickboxing, etc and I did everything high impact...I was an animal LOL.  They asked me several times to get my certification to teach...and at about the same time I starting experiencing all the dreaded knee/feet/ankle problems.  Apparently I got too carried away huh? LOL

So, I promised myself before I started Turbo Jam that I would use my head and take it down a few notches.  But, of course once you start getting into these dvds and having fun - common sense flies out the window.  Like last night.  My back is pretty sore from all that jumping around...the knees a bit swollen...feet hurt.  :horse: Jacka*s me.

I probably should have taken the night off exercise but I really wanted to checkout cardio party 2.  I don't know if it was my mood, or the aches & pains, but I didn't really enjoy this one as much as the others.  It almost seemed too easy.  Probably because I wasn't jumping around as much!

Tomorrow I am trying out Booty Sculpt with Cardio Party Remix.  :shooting_star:

Oh, and can I just say one more thing?? If I read another post by 'Ball' I will vomit.

ANYWAY..sorry you're all sore  Take it easy  Thanks, your diary is a great read.

I replied to him three times today and he is sneaky and changed some of my words around to make it look like I said something I didn't. I do wish Peter would do something because Ball has NOTHING nice to say. He actually said (and this is kinda funny, given my situation) that I am a fat cow on a scooter driving through Walmart drooling over the food!!! HAHAHAHA Isn't that funny??? He OBVIOUSLY has NEVER read a word I have written in my diary or others! How stupid is he? I feel sorry for him.  He also said he knows how I am...I am "one of those FAT HENS picking on the thin girl who wont eat the #%@&! I bring in to work".....could he BE more mixed up???

I am sending the following PM to Ball:

Ball,

You have replied to all posts to you that I have noticed except one by me where I wrote about your calling people fatties:

I don' think it will matter what you call them. I don't think they will stay around to listen to you. I am very impressed with your viewpoints on the causes of obesity, but I don't see you helping many people.

Having you as a member of our forums has been very tiring for me. Reading all your rude and argumentative posts, the often times rude and argumentative replies, and answering the e-mails asking me to do something about you.

As I have written before, I think that you have some very good ideas to share. But I am afraid the messenger is killing the message or whatever that old saying is.

I am disappointed that some of our forum members have stooped to your tactics and become rude and argumentative themselves, but I never saw this side of them until you appeared. So I feel that without question you are the instigator.

Well, you know this. It is the tactic you use to make people aware that they are the cause of their being overweight. Or fat as you would say.

I suggest you start your own website where you can practice as you wish. I don't have the energy for it any longer. If any forum member can point to an example of your being rude beginning September 7, I will terminate your forum membership.

I have taken so long to make this decision because you do have some great points. And because others have become rude and argumentative too. And mostly because I don't want to start choosing who can and can't be a forum member.

But I don't have the time and energy to continue with your tactics. So please change them, or go elsewhere.

Sincerely,

Peter:monkey:

Scoobees,
I agree with you about Ball. Could he be Pudgypoodle's ex-husband? That might explain a lot.
I responded to him once and allowed myself to be baited. Not again. Since he told me I could have dieted by eating sensibly as he recommends for two years and still be a future fatty because I'd still be a glutton at heart, I gave up. What an a*s.

On a more pleasant note, I really appreciate having you on this forum. You're my Turbo Jam buddy! I did punch, kick & Jam again last night. I forgot it had toning in it. I didn't want to overdo the toning because I had done much of it the night before. I think that's why I like Cardio Party 3 for the pure raw cardio.

About Ball,

Ball wrote me a very nice note explaining once again how he believes he can help people by shocking them into believing the truth about their weight problem. I believe he has some very good ideas, and is very sincere.

He said that he would start one new topic for discussion of his viewpoints, and stop badgering others in other topics.

(These are my words, I am not quoting him.)

Well, he did, and though it was not directed at anyone in particular or anyone in general, his post contained a disgusting phrase. That did it for me.

I deleted the post and terminated his membership in the forum.

I do not want the practice of picking who can and can't be a member to become commonplace. I want the forums to be very open to all. But I think I have learned a lot about how to handle such people in the forum and hope to do better in the future.

Lastly, I am exhausted from this experience and hope that there will not be too much follow-up discussion. I think everyone has pretty much expressed their feelings already.

I've noticed that almost all your posts include your TJ workout for the day.  You're so excited about it, that I'm almost tempted to buy the DVDs despite my complete lack of living room floor-space!!  You're an unstoppable TJ force!!

First, thanks Peter for handling the 'Ball' business.  I'm just mad at myself for being baited so easily.  If he would have just listened to someone's reply just ONCE.  :dizzy: On a good note - he made my jabs & kicks just a bit more forceful during last night's workout.

I am still giggling about Skipper's comment about Ball being Pudgy's ex:grin::grin:!  That really would explain a LOT of things!!!  I haven't been around here very long, but I sure hope we don't get too many more like these characters.  Next time I will NOT allow myself to get sucked into an argument.

Skipper - I LOVE both of those - Cardio Party 3 & PK&J!!  I can't wait to become a little more proficient in CP3...that was one heck of a cardio w/o.  It's great to have a TJ buddy to bounce ideas off of!  I've only got 3 more dvds to go...tonight is the booty sculpt & cardio party remix...and I'm not sure when lower body jam fits in.  And that will be it!  Hopefully Chalene will get the next set out before these become too easy!  Yeah, like THAT will ever happen!  And then there's the weighted gloves to add...

Trimblebe - It's hard not to be excited about turbo jam...it's the only workout that I can honestly say I've enjoyed!  Before these last two sets came in the mail, I was mixing up the workouts to include some bike or elliptical work.  But now with all these new dvds - I haven't done anything else lately LOL.  I'm sure I'll go back to mixing it up again in the near future - I don't want to burn out on TJ or get overuse injuries.  You mentioned not having a lot of living room space - same here.  My living room is skinny but long so I have to move the coffee table out of the way every day or there's not enough room to move to the side LOL.  Or else I can't see the tv!!!

Ok, time for me to zip it up - and work it out!!!

:shooting_star:Exercise:  Turbo Jam Booty Sculpt dvd (30 min.) & Cardio Party Remix dvd (30 min)

 :apple:Calorie Intake:  Updated Later

Excellent workout tonight - feel like I've burned some serious calories...well, hopefully anyway:grin:.  First time for the booty sculpt w/o and I loved it.  My thighs were screaming!  I paired it with the live cardio party remix w/o (CPR - LOL!) and it was great also.  It may have been only 30 min but that was some serious sweat.  Since it was made up of her favorite sequences from some of the other videos, it was not hard to follow.  And two turbo drills in a row! Whew!

Tomorrow's rotation calls for a day of semi-rest...just to do 10 min of Ab Jam.  But since I'm a day behind anyway (didn't workout Monday) I'll probably do something more.

Hey Skipper - I think you'll enjoy the cardio party remix dvd...being only 30 min you could use it on one of your more time-challenged days.  And since it's a remix of sequences from other dvds it's more user friendly LOL.

Scoobees, Thanks for the kind words in my diary. You are definitely my Turbo Jam buddy and you keep me Jammin'. I was thinking the same thing about kicking and punching most effectively after reading a few of Ball's posts. Maybe he did more good than we realized:devil:. I still clench my teeth when I think about him, though:angry:.

I sent my  older daughter off to first grade today. I thought about you and your teary drop  off of your son at college. They sure grow up fast, don't they? I took some nice photos. She is SOO thrilled to be at the big elementary school! She's reading everything now. So much for hubby and I spelling secrets...:dog:

Thanks Skipper - YOU keep me jammin' too!  It feels fantastic to bounce opinions & ideas off of someone who is basically doing a lot of the same things.  Your posts in the turbo jam drawer helped me make my decision to finally order the darn package LOL!  Even though you're miles ahead of me towards your goal weight, I'll keep jammin' along behind ya!

Last night (Friday) I didn't exercise at all.  That soreness I got the other day (from doing too much high-impact turbo jam) got even worse during work yesterday.  It's really sore on the back of my leg (behind the knee) and now it's going down to the side of my calf.  I really must have pulled or torn something a bit.  I got a good nights sleep and was hoping it would just disappear (yeah, right...) but it does feel a bit better today.  My head is telling me to take a decent break from exercise and heal; my heart is saying NOOOO.

So, I disregarded my head and listened to my heart LOL.  I thought I would do some beginner turbo jam stuff and take it down a couple notches to see how the leg feels.  I also decided to add the weighted gloves to make the workout harder without having to do the high impact moves.  WOW!  It's incredible how much the weighted gloves raised the level of the workout!  My punches felt so strong; powerful.  This is the first time in a long time that I wore my heart rate monitor; I really wanted to see what would happen by doing these very simple workouts using the gloves.  During the first workout (a very basic 15 min one that demonstrates the moves) my heart rate rose nicely into my zone.  During the second one (a beginner 20 min workout) my heart rate rose to the very high end of my limit!  I was really excited...I didn't think the gloves would have that much of an effect.  This just may be my ticket to continuing on...lower impact but using the gloves for intensity.  I guess I'll have to wait and see how the leg feels...

I'm going to use them again tonight with the Burn & 20 min workouts and see how the intensity is this time.  I hope I get the same results...I'm a little wary of doing any of the other harder, longer workouts right now.

:shooting_star:Exercise:  Turbo Jam Cardio Party 1 w/weighted gloves

 :apple:Calorie Intake:  1611

Ok, I lied.   Instead of doing the easier & shorter workout; I changed my mind and did cardio party 1.  It's been awhile - I missed it LOL.  I decided to use the weighted gloves and 'tried' not to do many of the high impact moves.  Key word is 'tried'.  It's so hard to keep it low.  I hope I didn't do any more damage to my leg.  I will do my best to stay away from turbo jam tomorrow and opt for the bike for a change.  I think I need a 12-step program. 'I promise to give up turbo jam for one day'.

Anyway, the workout was not one of my best.  I was pretty exhausted from lack of sleep.  My son came home from college for the weekend and didn't leave until 1:30 am this morning.  I got to bed by 2:00 am and unfortunately I have to be up by 5:45 am.  Not a great rest to say the least.  I was half way through my workout before my heart rate was registering in my higher zone.  Apparently I was even more beat than I realized.  But, I'm still happy I got the w/o in...I'm sure I still burned SOME calories!

Isn't it amazing how addicting Turbo Jam is? And I hear ya' on the difficulty holding back. I couldn't believe how much I missed it over the weekend. It was like I needed my fix. I tried to do some of the moves from memory, but it wasn't the same. I needed the crew!:dog:

Addicting - YES! I start hearing assorted songs from TJ in my head every now and then if I go too long without my fix.  I burst out every now and then with a line from one of them...at work...at home...wherever.  Hubs even knows some of them now just from hearing my outbursts LOL.  "LLLadies...FFFfellas" or "I'm gonna knock you out" or "It's time to party"...etc. Very catchy songs.

Ok - so I lied again.  I promised I would give turbo jam a rest - at least a day - to ease my leg.  But after the bike I was still pretty up for exercise so I popped in one of TJ's toning dvds...at least it wasn't a cardio one LOL.  Felt great.  Still need stronger resistance tubing for that w/o but haven't checked at the sporting goods store yet.

Ick. I woke up with a terrible sore throat this morning...and I'm starting to sniffle, too.  NO!  I don't wanna get sick.  I had a rough time making it thru the workday so I didn't even try to exercise.  I even took a nap when I got home.  I feel so yukky.  Hopefully this will be a quick bug so I can get back to my exercise routine.

Oops...my diary is almost at the bottom.  I've been too busy and still feeling yukky.  Thanks OWF for your suggestion - I'm posting a couple questions in your diary.

As far as exercise goes...none for the past couple days.  I am still feverish, coughing, sniffling and my sinuses are clogged.  I've been staying on the low end for calorie intake as I don't wanna see that scale go up :up_arrow:

I forgot to weigh myself last Saturday -  my usual weigh-in day, but I snuck a peek the other day and I know it went down a couple pounds!  I'll wait till tomorrow to make sure it's official.

Holy :cow:!  A couple of pounds down?  Try FOUR!!!:star::star::star::star::shooting_star::shooting_star::shooting_star::shooting_star:

I got back on the scale three times just to be sure. I didn't weigh myself last Saturday so the 4 pound loss is for the last 2 weeks.  This is huge for me as I am that consistent one pound loss a week girl.  Could my new turbo jam dvds be THAT effective???

**Jumping up & down, doing the happy dance, the cabbage patch, the macarena, the electric slide...Ugh...I don't know dance moves!!!:grin::grin::grin:**

Scoobees- You Rock!!! That's awesome! I'm doing a little happy dance for you!
My hubby is starting into the mild fever/sniffling thing. He was pretty wiped out today. So far I'm not showing symptoms. Maybe all this healthy eating, vitamins, veggies, fruit, balanced diet thing is helping me avoid the illness thing. I certainly hope so. We shall see.

Get better so you can TJ again!:dog:

Thanks Zenobia & Skipper for your wonderful words!  I am STILL dancing after that weigh-in!

I think I am getting over this bug; a little coughing, a little sniffling, nothing major now.  I absolutely would not miss another day of exercise.  I actually made it through pretty well, and it just felt so good to do it!!

I hope you don't catch it from your hubs Skipper.  I have contact with kids everyday at the school which makes me a prime candidate for whatever is going around.  The last few years it seems I've been getting better...my resistance must be getting higher or something.

A funny thing happened today at the supermarket - really.   After exercising, I showered and threw on some clothes and dashed to the store early - not really looking at my appearance in the mirror before I left.  As I was cruising down one of the aisles I noticed my jeans felt really weird.  I looked down and almost laughed my butt off when I realized the weird feeling was due to excess material hanging down my butt and thighs!  OMG...part of me was embarrassed - the other part was cheering.  I looked like I was wearing clown pants or something!  I haven't worn them for a couple weeks...I knew they were getting loser - but not hanging LOL.  Is it still in fashion to wear saggy pants?  Needless to say, I finished my shopping in record time to get outta there!!!!

That must have been such a super feeling!!

And shopping for new pants is always fun. I think we are going to go to the mall over spring break here in about a month, and I am definitely getting new clothes.

Keep it up!

:grin:Thanks Hisgal & Clarinetgurl!  Shopping woohoooo!  It's definitely time - I am down to two pairs of pants that I can be seen in public in.  Of course my hubby is still teasing me about the baggy pants episode - 'hey did you check your pants today?' Someone not 'in' on the joke may think something TOTALLY different!!  He's such a goofball.

:shooting_star:Exercise:  turbo jam Punch, Kick, and Jam dvd

 :apple:Calorie Intake:  1641

I was super tired all day at work...for some reason when I went to bed last night I started coughing...and through most of the nite.  I was feeling so much better I thought I was out of the woods.  Anyway, I came home and was able to catch a quick nap for about 30 min and felt like a new woman.  I knew company was coming over this evening so I snuck in my workout early...only hubs happened to pop in about 10 min into my workout.  I don't know about anyone else, but I don't like anyone watching when I'm doing a dvd that I've only attempted once LOL.  I feel kinda silly.  But it sure makes you try harder!  My heart rate was soaring so high that I had to take off my weighted gloves after only 20 min into this one.  But I love, love, love this dvd.  I look forward to doing this one again.  Hubs does too...

:shooting_star:Exercise:  turbo jam Booty Sculpt & Cardio Party Remix dvds

 :apple:Calorie Intake:  1621

Felt much, much better today; not as much coughing thank goodness.  I started my workout way too late tonight; now it's almost 9:30pm and I haven't had dinner. I hate when I do that.

I really got into the booty sculpt video tonight; I honestly cannot believe how many squats are in that workout - that booty better get sculpted!!  The very short segment using the band makes my booty & thighs scream - I love it!

I wasn't quite as much into the cardio party remix dvd tonight; my knee is really sore and it's still hard for me to take it down a few notches...so I don't. I know I'll never learn.  Overall, I kicked butt tonight...literally...and I'm going to shut up now and eat!!!:chewing:

I didn't exercise at all yesterday (Wednesday).  My knee was way too inflammed so I used it as a rest day and even took my calories up a bit for a change.

It was feeling quite a bit better today and I probably should have rode the bike to play it safe but turbo jam was calling to me again.  I took it a bit easier than usual and wore the weighted gloves to get some intensity.

:shooting_star:Exercise:  turbo jam Lower Body Jam dvd + 60 min. elliptical

 :apple:Calorie Intake:  1728

All in all, it was a good day.  A little higher on the calories than I wanted, but I've been staying a bit too low anyway.

I haven't been on the ellptical trainer for quite awhile and I was pleasantly surprised to find it incredibly easier tonight!  I really had to crank up the intensity higher than usual to get a good sweat going.  Apparently all that turbo jamming really did some good LOL.

I was pretty wiped out afterwards...even fell asleep watching that Chicken Little movie!:chicken:

Saturday

Ok...really hard to not throw in the towel.  Today was my weigh in and I only lost 1/2 pound.  And after all those times I was bummed about only losing a pound...now just .5!  And I cannot say the ole 'at least I didn't gain' line...c'mon!  I kept my calories in check and only rested one day from exercise.  I can't say that it's 'that time of the month' because that's next week.  I can't say that it's because I'm closer to my goal therefore making continued weight loss harder...I'm still 43 pounds away!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving up...I've lost 33 pounds and that's alot.  But don't you just get so frustrated sometimes when you feel like you're giving 110% and getting such minimal results in return?

I guess I've just got to remind myself of the good things that's been coming my way.  The compliments, the change in pants sizes, the ability to work out with such great intensity, the feeling of accomplishment, the ability to look in the mirror at my body and see wonderful changes, the smile on my hubby's face when he 'checks me out', and last but not least - fitting into my Scooby shirts!  Ok...just sorta kidding there.

I think I'm feeling a bit better.  I think every now and then we need to refect on the positive things that we experience on our journey.  I am too stuck on the ultimate goal sometimes that I forget to enjoy things on the road there...
