 Aren't they horrible Skipper?!  This was my third one; my ob/gyn forced me to go at age 40 LOL.  The first one wasn't bad - which is good or I probably would have never went again. The second one brought tears to my eyes - and left a bruise, too.  They had to do extra films because of some changed areas since the first one; so of course today they did the additional ones also...omg...I can't believe they don't burst under all that pressure:grin:.  And being so hot out...and sticky...and nervous; my body temp was probably boiling.  It was just a real uncomfortable & embarrassing thing.  So I thought a little shopping trip was just what the doctor ordered LOL.

Exercise: a.m. - Turbo Jam Burn + TJ 20 min workouts = 35 min.

p.m. - 30 min bike (one min. intervals)

Calorie Intake: 1709

Today I had extra pep during the TJ workouts and was really able to 'get into' it.  That makes it more enjoyable; the punches are harder, the lunges are deeper, even the jumping rope is more fun.  Of course that made my evening exercise (bike) even more boring...thank goodness for good music!

It's called '10 Best Fitness' and consists of 5 double-sided dvds equaling 12 hours of exercise.  Sounded great to me; contains everything from kickboxing, yoga, step, etc. I had only checked out a couple of the sessions, and it had gotten buried under others that I purchased.  I dusted it off tonight in hopes of getting a little variety - but booooo.   I should have known when something sounds to good...it usually is.  This particular one tonight was on the 'Fat Burners' disc; it was really lame...looked like it was possibly from the 80's by looking at the leotards LOL, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't a fat burner for me.  I think I'll just bury the whole collection again...
:caution:Oh MY GOODNESS!! I JUST read about 10 Best Fitness!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got suckered into that one last year too!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown: They should call it 10 Worst Fitness!!!! LOL

I agree...........I am a critic but come on!!!!! Those DVDs were SOOOO lame!!!! I can't believe I paid 19 for them!! I tried to return them to Circuit City and they wouldnt take them back!! (I dont blame them!!)

OMG! No way! You bought those too?? I'm NOT the only sucker LOL!!!  I thought I hit a gold mine with that set - it seemed to have a bit of everything.  Lame is putting it nicely; the only thing I found watchable was the step aerobics workout - but even that was slow, corny and very repetitive.  THEN, I noticed some of the 'stars' in a couple of the workouts were Shirley Knight (Partridge Family) and Traci Lords...I guess that about sums it up eh?  But the worst thing of all were the outfits!!  I was wondering what decade these were taped in!!:grin:

Exercise: 45 min. full body weights + 30 min bike

Calorie Intake: 1658

Ack...what a difference a day makes.  Yesterday I was so full of pep in my workouts; today it was like pulling teeth...well, not quite that bad .  The weight training went ok even though it's not my favorite thing to do anymore.  I just don't really enjoy it, but I know it's something I have to do.  However, the cardio on the bike felt like it was the longest 30 minutes in history.  Am I done yet?  Ugh.  I sure hope tomorrow's energy & motivation is like yesterdays.

Saturday

Well, another week - another Saturday weigh-in - another one pound loss.  That makes a total of 26 pounds lossed so far.  While I know I should keep optimistic that I am still getting losses, I still would love to get a 2 pound loss here and there just to keep me motivated and psyched up.  I don't know...I cannot cut my calorie intake any lower as I stay pretty much in the lower - mid range as it is; maybe I should up the daily exercise a bit to shake things up.  I try to always vary my workouts day to day, and get in my resistance training a couple days a week; the only thing I can think of is I may need to exercise a bit longer.

Exercise:  Turbo Jam Cardio Party (45 min)

Calorie Intake: 1771

To be updated later on tonight...

Scoobees,

What if you aren't eating ENOUGH calories to support these workouts? Do you feel hungry alot? I dont know. I know how frustrating it is, I am going through similar struggles and I upped my caloric intake and I think things are better. (Just a suggestion. Not sure if it would make a difference to help you lose more.)

:ribbon:Keep your head up! At least you are LOSING and NOT GAINING!

That is great news!  Keep it up!:star:

Thanks OWF - by the way I love your username:grin:!  I was debating the same issue; eating too much? not enough? exercising too little? not enough?  Ugh.  Trial and error can be a frustrating process.

I don't think I'm eating too little...my RMR is 1484 and I've been staying in the 1500 - 1750 range for awhile.  I don't think I would be considered a 'heavy exerciser' whereas I would definitely need more calories.  To me that means a couple hours a day - and I definitely fall way short.

I will try to vary my intake from day to day more consistently; possibly my body is adjusting to realitively the same intake daily.  Who knows:grin:.

Congrats on figuring out your situation - and thanks for the encouragement!

I hope that you don't continue feeling discouraged by your 1 pound per week loss.  In my opinion, a slower loss means that your approach is very do-able in the long term... which means that this will be a permanent change for you!  Yes, I am biased - this happens to be my approach too.  Anyway though, you're doing great!!

I agree with the frustration of a steady 1 pound loss per week. Done this way, though you can be sure you're not losing muscle, just fat. It is hard to stay motivated without a little bump once in awhile, though.
Have you tried varying your calorie content somewhat from day to day? Some days eat 200-300 cal's. over your normal amount:rabbit:, the next day 100-150 under?:turtle: On days where you do a big cardio workout eat the higher calories. On days where you do strength training, try to eat foods with a higher protein content.:dog:

Thanks guys for the encouragement and suggestions...sometimes I guess I just need to whine; even my hubs (who has no interest whatsoever about weight loss but always listens to the things I say about it) said - hello...isn't that what you're supposed to be losing? So that it's safe & permanent?  It's funny when your own words come back to haunt ya.

I'll really try to work on this feeling of discouragement; I don't want to let it get the best of me and just give up the whole enchillada LOL.  :pizza:

I always say I'm going to vary my calories day to day...but on the days I am supposed to be eating the 200-300 extra, I end up feeling either guilty or afraid of regaining and usually chicken out and eat at the low end again.  A lifetime of weight issues can really screw with your mind.  Another thing to work on.

I haven't had a 'bad' slurge eating day in a long time but that came to an end Sunday & Monday.  My hubby and I had a funeral to go to and lack of sleep coupled with eating whatever food was available has worn me out mentally and physically.  No exercise of course...fatty, greasy foods - I can't remember when I've felt so yukky.  My stomach is so sick.  I keep drinking tons of water; I feel so dehydrated by all that #%@&! greasy food.  On the way home today hubs gets the bright idea to stop at Dairy Queen; nothing like ice cream to cheer ya up right?:cone:  Omg, he got me one of those blizzards - - Holy cow was it good...brownie batter blizzard...complete chocolate nirvana.  I mean, I'm not stupid - I knew this wasn't a wise food choice, but I just didn't care.  The funeral is over, I'm sick anyway, let's just add to the misery.  And THEN I looked up the calorie info here.  The blizzard I ate is new so it wasn't listed, but the others range from 530-720 calories for a small one.  I guess that wipes out a couple meals today eh?  Hubs got the large - I don't even wanna know!

I'll keep repeating - tomorrow is a brand new day...

Exercise: 30 min elliptical + 30 min bike

Caloric Intake:  1651

Just as I expected, I was pretty sluggish today after my #%@&! diet the last 2 days.  There was no way I was going to skip exercise; but my intensity was pretty moderate - no intense intervals today!  Eating clean today...downing water like crazy.  Hopefully by tomorrow I will be back to normal...for more turbo jam!

Exercise a.m. - Turbo Sculpt + Ab Jam

Exercise p.m. - 30 min. elliptical

Caloric Intake -  1760

Today I tried the Turbo Sculpt dvd for the first time.  I was actually pleasantly surprised.  As I try to perform a moderate to heavy weight session on a regular basis, I was pretty sure this dvd would be a bit of a joke.  But I was wrong.  Using such light weights with such high repetitions was a real compliment to my regular routine and a total shock to my system.  My shoulders are sore already:grin:.  I can even feel it in my thighs and butt - ya gotta love those squats & lunges!

So far...this is the BEST DAY EVER!!!!  Well, best in a long time anyway.  First, and most importantly, I received the results of last week's mammogram - NORMAL!!  Woohooooooo!  I was really worried as last years mammogram had some changes and I had to go thru additional testing and sonograms, etc.  I was told by others that they've been thru the same readings and it was nothing to be worried about...sure, me not worry...no problem...NOT.  Anyway, what a relief to receive a normal reading!!!:shooting_star:

Second, as I was sweating thru my morning workout my son (who rarely gives compliments) gives me a look and says - Hey you look skinny, did you lose some more weight? :shooting_star:  That was all I needed to kick that workout into turbo gear!  Flew right by!

Ahhh, life is good.  We all need more days like these.

Exercise a.m.:  Turbo Jam Cardio Party 1

Exercise p.m.:  30 min. bike

Caloric Intake:  1633

I haven't been here to post in a few days - oops!  We've been really busy lately and hadn't even turned on the ole 'puter.  In fact, today is the first day I've even exercised since Thursday - yikes!  Friday I cleaned house the entire afternoon until 1:00 in the morning...we were having a family get together Saturday and I wanted everything just right.  I didn't eat much of anything either that day...but really worked up a sweat with all that cleaning!  That has to count for something.

Saturday was spent home with family at the party...and yes - not very healthy eating either.  I was a small party with most of my family to sort of say 'goodbye' and 'good luck' to my son who is leaving Thursday for college.  I am going to miss him so much.

Scoobees, I can't even imagine what it would be like to see my little one leaving for college.  What heartache, yet what a joyous occasion to see him making his way through life by becoming an independent and successful adult.  OMG I have 14 years to go :dizzy: with my son!  Time is going by way too fast.

Thank you for your encouragement and from your (and Skipperdox) posts' I am totally sold on Turbo Jam!  I'm ordering it today!  It sounds like so much fun, yet it's a challenging workout.  Can't wait to try it.  Keep up the great work!!!

Nena:grin:, I joke alot lately to family members about how could he possibly have a life without his mother.  Just can't be lol!  It seems such a short time ago that I was walking him to his Kindergarten classroom (both of us in tears), and here I am moving him into his dorm room.  Wow.  It's like a blink of an eye how fast time flies. He's our only child...I guess I'm glad I have to go thru this only once!  And just like you said, it's heartache but I'm also so darn excited for him; all these new experiences & independence.  He's going to do well, I just know it!

And about Turbo Jam - oh yeah, it's a real blast!  Skipper is our resident Turbo Jam Goddess as I'll bet you've noticed from her diary!:ribbon:  She's got ALL the dvd sets; I'm so jealous - but I'll get there soon!  I like to rotate TJ workouts with my regular elliptical and bike workouts for the sake of variety.  I'm so excited you're ordering too!  I can't wait to hear what you think.

Thanks for your continued encouragement!:sun:

I didn't get enough sleep last night, so Cardio Party was more of a challenge today than usual.  On the whole, I still felt way better about everything after doing it.  It's just those first few minutes...ugh!

I missed my evening workout and probably will again the next couple days; lots of last minute details & shopping before my son's move-in day (Thurs) at college.

I feel for you, Scoobees!   I've seen three of them off to college, and they are now wonderfully responsible, working adults.   Of course, that didn't stop me from bawling my eyes out all the way home with each of them.   I'll be thinking of you on Thursday!

Thank you Hisgal for your thoughtful post.  Congrats to you for making it thru this 3 times!!  I know I will be a sobbing mess all the way home tomorrow.  Hubby keeps joking about making sure there's a huge box of Kleenex in the truck.   Hmmm, I wonder if bawling burns any calories...

I think bawling burns calories when you get to the heaving sobbing phase. I don't  think Peter has it listed in his calculator, though.

Be sure to bring extra water with you...you don't want to end up dehydrated:crying:.

No gusto for exercise today; I did it just to get it over with...but Chalene did make me crack a smile a few times.  I'm sure it'll take a few days (or more) for me to get my head together...I miss my son already.  I am so glad he called tonight...it was worth a million to hear from him.  He said he had just gotten out of the shower - after working out...he's ALREADY found the gym - that's my boy!:shooting_star:

Sunday

What a nice little surprise I discovered today.  Obviously as my username suggests I am a huge Scooby Doo fan.  Over the course of years and years I have collected many Scooby things including gifts from family, friends, co-workers, etc.  Some of these gifts were Scooby T-shirts.  They all were good-intentioned, well-meaning gifts; but clothes are not the best thing to try to buy for a very overweight person - no disrespect intended to the gift-giver.  One is a co-worker who surprises me on every birthday and Christmas (without fail) with something Scooby...3 or 4 of these things were T-shirts and NONE of them fit.  A few I could barely pull over my shoulders!  They were all size L, but sometimes t-shirts fit pretty crazy.  Or if they fit on top, they are sure to be extremely tight around my lower belly.  Ick.  I was too ashamed each time to tell her they didn't fit; I was just thankful we couldn't wear t-shirts at work or she would have been asking about them.  Today on a lark as I got out of the shower and was looking for something to wear, I decided to try one on.  OMG they ALL fit!!!:shooting_star:  I had no clue I made that much of a change!:shooting_star:  So I tried on some that I bought myself and from ebay - they now fit too!:shooting_star:  Looks like I got extra laundry to do today - some have been hung up for ages!  I know they're just t-shirts, but this really gives me a kick in the pants to keep going in high gear.  Talk about a boost to my confidence!!!:sun:

It is so difficult to reach our goals, but once you get there and fit into something that didn't fit awhile back, it makes it all worth it!!  Your washer is :phone:calling!!!

I can't wait until the day I can fit back into my old jeans!! They are just sitting there collecting dust in my closet. One day, though, I will fit back into them!!!

Speaking of old jeans gathering dust - I have lots, too.  Unfortunately they're all size 6's & 8's...and I've only made it back down to a 16 so far:shock: (from 20).  When I fit back into those - you'll REALLY hear it!!!  I'll have a huge smilie-fest!!!:grin:

You're doing wonderful Scoobees!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for posting in my diary. Sometimes, you just have "one of those days" and it helps to talk about it / get it out/ vent/ scream/etc. and hear feedback that others can empathize with and understand. Thank you. I appreciate your empathy and concern. It's weird, we are on this  cybersite and we don't even "know" each other, but somehow we can "be there" for each other. It's nice. Thanks again.:rose:

After that great rush I experienced with fitting into my Scooby shirts (LOL:grin:) there was no grumbling whatsoever about having to exercise today!  The last 10 minutes however were a struggle; I was running outta gas.  I have to be a little more diligent in remembering to have a tiny snack before exercise.

You're totally welcome OWF!  You do the same for me and for others here. It always helps to talk about such things; and not only about weight loss struggles.  Everything in our daily lives effects us and our weight loss.  Vent away!  I start back to work tomorrow; my dairy will be booming with venting soon LOL!!!!

I feel really guilty that I skipped exercise today.:nono:  Especially since I've been doing really well lately and on such an emotional high.  My excuse is that I only got 2 hours of sleep last night.  As I was mustering up some motivation to change into my workout clothes, hubby gives me a call and says he's coming home early - would I like to do something?  Instead of me saying 'well, as soon as I get done exercising...etc.' I say 'let's go shopping!'  I am so bad LOL.  I guess I'd better get to bed early tonight and get some rest so I am not so easily distracted tomorrow!

I just couldn't wait anymore.  I went and did it.  I ordered the rest of the turbo jam videos tonight!  That outta keep me busy for quite awhile.

Congrats on ordering the rest of the Turbo Jam videos. I just opened and viewed Punch Kick & Jam...HOLY COW they upgrade the workout big time. They are sweating in the warm-up and the video is 50 minutes! I think I'm going to try it tonight...I'll need my goddess crown to do it. I can totally see how they burn so many calories!

Hey, shopping is exercise. As long as you didn't hit the food court, you burned more than sitting. I just bought bras over the weekend...now there's exercise. Twisting, turning, tuck this, suck in that, clothes on, clothes off, nope, I need a different size, where is the woman to open the door to the try-on room?:dog:

:shock:Bra shopping can be quite an experience:shock:.  In the 'old' days I didn't mind; I picked up whatever cute lil thing that hit my eye...didn't have to worry about super-sizing (LOL) and major body armor back then:grin:

I am so excited and absolutely cannot wait for the rest of those turbo jam dvds!  The comments Skipper made on the Punch Kick & Jam sound awesome...sweating already in the warm-up and 50 minutes long?!  Major calorie burner there I'll bet!  They said it takes 2-3 weeks for delivery...I would not fork over the additional $15 for faster shipping; my order was already $114!  I thought I would just suck it up and wait.

Now that I will be finished with the beginner TJ schedule tomorrow, I think I am going to just start rotating Cardio Party 1 with Turbo Sculpt & Ab Jam on alternate days with some elliptical or bike thrown in there for variety.  And a good resistance training day maybe on the weekend.  That way when my new videos get here, hopefully I will be really ready for their increased intensity.

:shooting_star:Exercise:  Turbo Sculpt dvd + 30 min bike

 :apple:Calorie Intake:  1810

Good day overall.  I was pretty tired after work and REALLY wanted to take a nap instead of doing turbo jam:grin:.  I had good energy during turbo sculpt, and really wanted to get some additional cardio in today so I hopped on the bike for 30 min.  I thought it would never end.  Either turbo sculpt wore me out more than I thought, or yesterday's low calorie intake really affected me today.  I don't know.  I was wearing my heart rate monitor and felt like I was really working hard, but my heart rate was staying pretty low.  I started peddling really fast...raising the resistance...not much of an effect.  Maybe I just need a break.  Hitting that proverbial wall again.

Anyway, I was just trying to not overdo it calorie-wise and making sure to get my workouts in because we are going to the county fair on Saturday and I just know I will be indulging a bit...maybe quite a bit?  Every year I just have to have the deep fried veggies, the greasy french fries in a cup, some sort of sandwich with a zillion calories...maybe cotton candy... or :cone:LOL...maybe I should just stay home!

:shooting_star:Exercise:  Turbo Jam 20 min w/o & Turbo Sculpt

 :apple:Calorie Intake:  1824

Today was the first time I exercised since Friday.  It felt really good to be back.  Saturday was the fair, ate like a :pig: and had a great time.

I just returned back to work yesterday as school is back in session (I manage an elementary school cafeteria).  It was fantastic having all summer off; especially having the extra time to kick the workouts up a few notches.

The BEST thing about going back to work these past 2 days has been the compliments on my weight loss!:star: It doesn't look THAT dramatic to me, but for people that haven't seen me since the first week of June - I guess it's a lot more obvious!  What a great motivator that was for me to push myself to work even harder today.  I have to keep those compliments comin'!

:shooting_star:Great Scoobees!!!!!!!!:shooting_star: That is such a nice thing to hear that your co-workers really notice your weight loss!! And, its only been 2 months since they've seen you too!! That means you must look AMAZING!! :ribbon:

Sometimes I wish we all had photos and updated ones to see the changes in each other ....but then, I'm like, well, that would DEFEAT the purpose of anonymity on this website, right??

:lightbulb:Maybe you can wear all your newly fitting Scooby shirts to work in the cafeteria? The kids would love it!!!

Scoobees,

Don't those compliments just fire you up and keep you going?

One of the guys at work, whose wife has the same name as me, calls me "Slim".   Well, I know I'm not slim yet, but just hearing that "Hi, Slim" makes me feel good, and like I have to keep working to live up to the nickname.

Way to go!

Thanks OWF & Hisgal!  The compliments really do fire ya up...what a great feeling.   The adjectives 'slim' and 'skinny' are being used a lot - but that's stretching reality a whole lot! But, I get a giggle out of it and it makes me feel like a million bucks.  I told hubs about the compliments I'm getting at work and he just beams .  He's my biggest fan.

I am totally psyched up - my other turbo jam dvds came today!  I loved the beginner set so much that I ordered the rest of the collection = 8 dvds, weighted gloves, resistance band, and resistance tubing! Wow!  Like a kid at Christmas here! I will hopefully have time tomorrow to view the first one - and do it, too.  I was planning to start with the advanced rotation schedule - and it sure looks tough.  This will definitely fire up my workouts!

I was really dragging this evening but I really wanted to give one of my new turbo jam dvds a try.  I think I should have waited till I was a bit more rested.  I gave it a decent try but I didn't get as good of a workout as I was hoping.  Too much starting and stopping as I don't know the moves/sequences yet.  I can tell it's gonna be one heck of a workout once I get the hang of it as I was sweating like a :pig:.

Yay, Christmas. You're so lucky you got the gloves. They recently added them free with the videos. They didn't even carry them for awhile so I couldn't get them. Now I could order them, but they're aroud $16 plus shipping. I'm waiting to see if they offer new TJ videos, then I'll lump them all together. I'm not sure I'm quite ready to try them yet, anyway.

Enjoy your videos, "slim":dog:
