Well ...  time to get my butt in gear (pun intended) and get these extra pounds off.  My pants are approaching unzippable  :pig:... and frankly ... i just feel uncomfortable.

So ... as I have considered my options I have decided that I get ample exercise.  Granted I don't run marathons ... but, I am faithful to my daily hour long walks.

So ... it's the diet that needs vast improvement.  After much consideration, and reading and web browsing, I have come to the conclusion, that food is my friend.  And that in order to be drop a few pounds and keep them off (oy ... the hard part) I need to incorporate more fruits, veggies and whole grains.  I also need to eat less processed foods, less fat and sugar.  Sounds simple.

Well ... time will tell.

Starting weight this week: 153

If you read the posts in the Help Me I'm Stuck! forum, you'll see a lot of advice about not eating so little that it slows down your metabolism. I find that eating highly nutritious, low calorie foods I can eat all I want.

Congrats on getting started and I don't mean to lecture, but I couldn't help noticing how light your lunch was.

You'll find what works best for you... we're all different!

Ah, except when it comes to your (user) namesake. ;)

Day 2 - Thanks Peter for the advise ... I will admit lunch was a little light yesterday, but I was eating out of the grocery bags in the back of the car.  No time to stop for a proper lunch.

Breakfast - 1/2 whole wheat bagel, bottle of V8 juice, handful of Craisins

Lunch - 1/2 PBJ sandwich (2 small pieces whole grain bread, 1 T. peanutbutter, 2t blackberry jam) 1c. lo-fat milk

Dinner - 4 oz. pork loin, 1c. cornbread stuffing, bottle of V8

Snack - cup of hot cocoa, 1/2 banana

Small victory for me last night:
Went to a meeting after dinner and after the meeting was over, we had "refreshments".  Blueberry crisp, homemade chocolate chip cookies (they smelled soooo good), chips and salsa, and assorted fruits with some oooy-gooey cream cheese dip.  It was so hard as the meeting moved around the goodies.  I found myself falling into the mind games ... "I don't have to weigh in for a few days", "I have done well for a few days, a few goodies won't hurt me".  But, I grabbed a caffeine free diet coke, put it on ice and moved away from the goodies and tried to engage in conversation instead.  As I was driving home, I was so thankful that I had chosen well (something I don't normally do).  There was definately a feeling a victory ... which felt way better than the momentary pleasure of a chocolate chip cookie!!

Day 3 - I had a bit of trouble just before dinner ... fighting the urge to binge ... lots of high fat foods were calling my name :?... so I sat down and at my dinner salad early ... it seemed to help.  So all in all ... I managed to make good choices.

Breakfast-  1/2 whole wheat bagel w/ 1 T. lite cream cheese, orange, coffee

Lunch - handful of baby carrots, about 10 cherry tomatoes, and an orange.  Lots of water

Dinner - 2 chicken fajitas (w.corn tortillas, chicken, onion and hot sauce), small serving of cornbread casserole and dinner salad (about 1 T. Italian drsg).

Having a hard time finding ways to get 3 servings of milk every day.  In fact, having a hard time getting any milk products at all ... any suggestions?

MAS,  Try a low calorie - yogurt.  I buy the ones that are 45 c in 4 oz., cottage cheese is also good.   Congrats on staying away from the refreshments at the meeting.  This is always going to be a challenge in our society.   Going to socials at work where your expected to mingle and meet people and NOT eat the goodies is an act of treason in some circles -- but just do your best and don't let those other people dictate your desires.  Bless your heart
