Well, hello there!   It's time to get serious about losing weight and getting in shape.   To help with that, I've decided to post my goals and daily activity in a public forum.  Can you think of anything that would make you stick to the program more?   I can't . . . there's something about public humiliation that works for me. :P   Maybe someday I'll get brave enough to post my weight . . . don't hold your breath!

This week's goals: 1.  Keep my average daily consumption between 1200 and 1400 calories.  2.  Drink at least 8 8oz glasses of water per day.  3.  Get in at least 6 30+ minute cardio workouts in this week.  4.  At least three strength training workouts.

Let's see how I've done this week so far:

Sunday:  Water - 10, Cardio (c)

The exercise consited of 30 minutes of yoga and an hour of walking on the treadmill.   Some cardio and no strength training today.   Guess that's it for today.  Hope your day was a success! :D

Today has been a pretty easy day to stick with the program.   Been at work all day without much temptation.  Last night was tough . . . was disappointed by someone and wanted to eat my anger/frustration away.  Instead I jumped on the treadmill until I was too tired to care.  In my silly little world, that was a win!

Exercise was 60 minutes of kickboxing with weights and 35 minutes of yoga.  Yippee!  That means I made my goals of 6 30+ minute cardio workouts and at least 3 strength training workouts this week.   In fact, I met all four goals for the week!  Woo hoo!

Yesterday was a bust!  Tax season is kicking my backside . . . I was at work from 7am - 9pm.  By the time I got home from work, all I wanted was to sleep so I skipped excercising.  Not a good habit but sometimes that's the way it goes.  :(   I had been craving KFC for about a week and I finally caved and had a drumstick, coleslaw and half a biscuit.   Talk about an upset stomach.  Ugh!   Here's my food log:

You went to KFC and still stayed under 1200 calories.  I think this is a victory in and of itself.  I was expecting a big blow to your daily calories but it didn't happen.  Congratulations.

Sometimes the body AND mind need a break from exercise.  Don't be too hard on yourself.  What resource are you using the input your calories again?  I like the format.:yumm:

Thank you . . . it was weird, I REALLY wanted KFC and after I had some I wasn't hungry until I got home around 9:30 so I didn't eat much more.

So, today was actually pretty good.  Couldn't sleep so I started the day off with 30 minutes of kickboxing . . . shocked me, too!   Even got in to the office early.   Ate on plan all day and got 12 glasses of water in.  I've struggled a bit with staying out of the skittles, Easter candy and cookies (tax season office treats) but so far I'm 100% on plan - considering it is 7:20, I'm still at the office and I have a yummy snack to look forward to at 8:41 I think I'll be able to pull it off.   It's a matter of pride now.   How'd you do?

How can you say you had a bad day of eating.  I'm sitting here wondering how you can eat so few calories.  If I were able to eat less than 1300 calories, I'd be so excited!

I guess from a calorie standpoint it was good.  I did have a cup of sugar-free jello before bed so we can add 16 calories to my total.  But from an actual health perspective it sucked.   I had fried rice, sweet and sour (fried) chicken and a coke.    The only the thing that saved me was that I barely had time to eat the delivered lunch that I split with mom or to notice I was hungry any other time of the day.    Once I sat down and figured the calories I'd had I decided not to have dinner.    I'm trying to do the three small meals and two snacks a day thing.    Today is off to a better start . . .

I've decided to post activity the morning after rather than the day so that I'm certain to record everything (like the other night's jello).    Yesterday was stressful to say the least.  I did ok but not great.  There was no exercise and dinner had absolutely no thought to it - just quick and easy since it was so late and I was beat.   I also didn't get the water in.  I've started drinking sodas which are totally my stress fallback.  I've got to stop that.   I gave up Starbucks for Lent and have been eagerly awaiting today so I could grab a SF NF latte.  I checked out the calories per hour calorie calculator and found a grande has 160 calories.  Not sure the little bugger is worth it anymore. :(   Anyway, here's yesteday's food consumption.  Happy Easter.

Ok, so I'm posting yesterday's activity.  It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be.  YAY!  Things at work are mellowing out so I'm looking forward to focusing on me for a while.  Woohoo!    I still haven't gotten all my water in - yesterday was 6 of 8 glasses.  I did an hour of kickboxing (it's the closest thing burn wise to your running) with handweights and half an hour of pilates.   Can't wait to get back into my sessions with the reformer.    Can you tell I'm having a good day?  :D

How are you able to keep your calories down so low.  Is this the pre-packaged food?  I'm all over the place and not doing well (in the eating department).  What advice can you provide?

Yes, most of the food is prepackaged - part of that weight loss plan.    There is a plan to follow so it is a matter of pick one from column A, two from column B, one from . . .  The yogurt is Lucerne (Safeway brand) sugar-free fat free so it ranges from 100-120 calories with no fat and 8 grams of protein per 8 oz serving (most other brands have the same or more calories and less protein for a 6oz serving).  The cottage cheese is from a tub but I measure out 1/4 or 1/2 cup servings into mini gladware bowls when I bring it home.   The fruits are canned 'carb smart' which I think means packed in water or juice with splenda instead of sugar added.    I make the jello in old 1 cup yogurt containers.  I HAVE to do the portion control thing or I would graze and sabotage myself.   Having to write everything down and share it with you has also helped with the mindless eating.   Besides, this time I'm really motivated to make the change . . .

Well, I haven't posted my activity since Monday which was Sunday's log so this one will be a bit long.  Monday was a crazy busy day with not much eaten until the celebration dinner . . . shot that days average but thoroughly enjoyed the dinner at Morton's, the Ketel One martini and three glasses of Opus One.   Tuesday I was running around town and ended up eating fast/restaurant food.  Not one of my better days either but I satisfied a long standing craving for sushi (on the 8th I had promised myself that I could have sashimi on Tuesday the 18 and I waited until Tuesday to have it - consider that a success).  C'est la vie.  Crazy thing though . . . this morning I jumped on the scale and had lost two pounds.  Go figure.  Today I'm back on track.

Long time no post.  Been staying at my parents' house since they are out of town.  Whenever I'm there I fall into my old habits of eating #%@&! food.  This time is no exception.   It's been a few days of nothing more than sleeping and recovering from tax season. Today is the first day back (I'm forcing myself to get back on track) and the goals are to stay under 1200 calories, do an hour of kickboxing and drink at least 8 glasses of water.  I've had a really tough time with the water lately.

I was hungry for ethnic foods today . . . so I ate them!  I split a burrito with a friend instead of eating the entire thing.  However, I ate about 2/3 of an order of house special chow mein for dinner.   Got in 10 glasses of water but no exercise.   Guess that leaves something to strive for today. :D

I  was going to give you today and then ask you about not posting tomorrow night.  ;)  Remember, it isn't about being perfect just about being aware - I don't care what or how much you eat that's your thing because you know what you need and/or are dealing with.   I just appreciate knowing that you read my posts.  It really helps me when I'm standing in front of the open fridge fighting the urge to graze . . .

Today is going to be more difficult.  I'm getting together for dinner with a friend and the restaurant she's chosed has a very limited menu.  Good thing I know now and can plan ahead . . .

I didn't track Saturday's activity and honestly can't tell you what I ate.  I didn't leave the house (lots of housework to catch up on) and I stuck to the eating plan (there isn't any off plan stuff in my house:D) but that's all I remember.    Yesterday was completely off plan.  It started off great but then took a left turn.   I did get in all the water, had an hour private tennis lesson and played an hour of tennis.

Ok, so I've been MIA for awhile but it is time to recommit to the accountability deal.   Are you game?  Between July and early November, I've got four weddings to attend and I want to feel comfortable in my clothes and body.  Being single at a wedding is uncomfortable enough don't need to add the 'I feel fat' factor  to it, too.   I'll post today's food log and calorie expenditure detail tomorrow morning.  Catch ya tomorrow.

I hear you.  Not sure that I can be so diligent as to do the food calendar but can be better than in the past.  I can be better when I'm back at work and at my computer all day in July.

Well, we're back on track partner (when you can between now and July) - thanks again for doing this.   While it isn't easy to give up the treats, it sure feels good to make it work. :D   Yesterday was a successful day because I was busy but not chaotic.   Had a tennis lesson and then stayed at the gym for some time with my buddy elliptical.   Tonight I have dinner plans with a 'foodie' friend.   I was trying to figure out how to stay under 1200 calories while going out for Chinese and I've decided to cut myself some slack.   If I skip breakfast, lunch and snack to keep it under 1200, when we get to the restaurant I'll totally over do it.   So, I'm aiming for 1500 calories and will get in a more intense workout.    The plan is an hour of kickboxing (about 700 calories) and an hour of Pilates or yoga (about 200 calories) which should compensate for the additional calories.    What do you think?

Here's yesterday's log:

Saturday was a complete and total cluster&#(%!   It was a dear friend's bachelorette party and try as I might it turned into a grazefest.  We spent all day wine tasting and eating.  Ugh!  Well, at least it isn't a daily thing. :yumm:   More amazing . . .  I recognized that I had overdone it.  In the past, that would have been a normal day.   My how things have changed!  Today is 100% back on track - food, exercise and water.   Yippee!!!

Sounds like you are on the right track in keeping your calories down while planning for a night out.  It is never a good idea to skip meals to compensate for one large one.  That is a good way to knock your metabolism off track and mess everything up.

Just remember....portions!  portions! portions.  Try to keep them small.

I haven't been as good as I'd like on the calorie counts - the goal was 1200 but I've been really hungry lately so I have decided to allow myself up to 1500 as long as my exercise level is above 500.  The extra 300 per day slow my loss by about 2/3 a pound per week but I think the trade off for sticking to it/not bingeing is worth the delay.  This is Tuesday's log which included 1 1/2 hours of tennis and an hour of Salsa dancing.  Also was able to get 11 glasses of water in . . . needed it after all that sweating.

Forgot to include Friday . . . how much wine is in a pour of the glasses at your house?  I had a martini at the function and the wine below was at your house.   Do I need to add more?   No exercise on Friday and the calories were up but that's the way the cookie crumbles.   Didn't track Saturday and Sunday (no internet at home) but was on plan for both days.

Great job!  I agree with you.  If you are hungry and water doesn't have satiate you.  You need to eat a small healthy snack.

I can take some time to provide an update.  I haven't been that great on the eating.  I'm trying to cut out the carbs but nothing else sounds appetizing.  I'm incorporating more fruits and veggies at least.

Last week was the hormonal week which brought on sittings with lots of chocolate and snacking.  I got in 16 miles last week and have completed 12 so far this week.  The scale says that I"m losing a few pounds here and there but the mid section is still quite flabby!  Shopping the other day was very discouraging as well.  Guess I'll just keep at it.

Way to go on the fruits and veggies!  I know what you mean about the carbs sounding good . . . if I didn't get a baked potato and ice cream last night someone was going to die.   Not pretty!    That pint of Dulce de Leche finally won the battle . . . six month old ice cream is really kind of nasty so tossing the leftover half wasn't too hard.

You amaze me!  16 miles is fabulous!  Give the midsection time.  After all it has had a tough two years. :P

Not too bad yesterday . . . got in 10 glasses of water and some kickboxing.  I've lost over 10 (almost 15 actually) pounds since starting this accountability thing which is a nice reward.   This weekend should be good.  I have an exercise date with a friend, a whole bunch of household chores to do (can't wait to get my house in living order again) and a tennis match on Sunday night.  That's the highlight - sure hope this guy doesn't kick my butt too badly.   It's really weird that all the people I get matched with are men.   Maybe I'll get in some practice time with the ball machine tomorrow after spin class.   Next week I start a group lesson on Mondays in addition to my private lesson on Tuesdays.    I'm looking forward to meeting some women that play at my level.    The coach says they often stay after to play a set . . . sure hope they'll include me. :D

Enough rambling!  Here's yesterday's log:

Woke up Sunday morning and decided that I need to track even over the weekend so here's Sunday's info . . . got in 10 glasses of water, did well on the calorie count and played a set of tennis.  I HAVE to learn to return those super fast hard guy serves.  I completely out played him on the rally's but when one of his serves was good it was more than I could handle.   Guess I know what this week's lesson will focus on, eh?
