Nir, thanks for that encouraging reminder!   I'm only human, and I get impatient when I think I am doing things right, and don't see the results.   I thought Venuto said this would work for even those who had the hardest time losing weight!

These diaries help..........I look at Skipper, Scoobs, Zenobia, and OWF and get encouraged there too.   They did it the right way, slow and steady, and hit goal or are very close..........just like others on this site.   I just have to tamper down my impatient human nature and do it the right way.

Actually, I was down a little on the scale this weekend, but I'm going to wait for my regular Tuesday weigh in before I get too excited.

I see I have a lot of catching up to do!   I'll just post totals for the past few days.   I've got the details in my notebook, if I need to look something up.

FRIDAY, Jan 26- calories-1611, prot-136.7 gr (33.9%), fat-24.65 gr (13.8%), carbs-52.3%, fiber-27.3 grams

SATURDAY, Jan. 27-calories-1511, prot-95 gr (25.1%), fat-44.7 gr (26.6%), carbs-48.3%, fiber-27.8 gr.

SUNDAY, Jan. 28- calories-2162, prot-107.35 (19.9%), fat-40.75 gr (16.9%), carbs-63.2%, fiber-42.15 gr.

Saturday was suppose to be my above maintenance day..........but I hit 9:00 p.m. that night, with no 5th meal made yet (4th meal was a pita with hummus) and the 3rd meal was eaten at 12:00 noon.   I just couldn't eat that many calories.........so I made the executive decision to make Sunday my maintenance day.   Besides, with my grand-daughter's baptism on Sunday.....lots of food, cake and ice cream.......it wouldn't be hard to eat maintenance.

Actually it worked out pretty good this weekend, considering we were hardly home.   The fundraiser breakfast at Applebee's went well....I gave my hubby one sausage link, one pancake, and I took his eggs.   I used minimum butter and syrup and drank water.

The funeral lunch was next........I took one half-slice (3 oz.) of lean ham, skipped the cheesy potatoes, loaded up some raw veggies and lettuce salad, put about 1 Tbsp of dressing on my plate and dipped my fork in it, thus barely using any drsg.  I took about 1/4 c. corn and skipped the cake....drank coffee and water.

The 90th birthday party came next........I visited with all my hubby's relatives and didn't even go to see what food was offered.   That's why I was starved when I got home, but just ate a quick meal of 1/2 whole grain pita with 1 Tbsp of hummus before I started decorating my grand-daughter's cake.   I started washing clothes, while I cleaned the fruits I was bringing on Sunday, did some picking up, and then cut my hubby's hair.   At this point it was late, (9:00 p.m.) but I had a lot of calories to consume just to hit 25 % below maint., so that wasn't my high calorie day.   I moved it back to Sunday.  Venuto says not to go more than 3 days low, but I figured I'm not losing it anyway........so why not?   Sunday was a better day to do it anyway.:chewing:

Sunday's lunch at my daughter's was a Subway party sub.....I ate one slice, no mayo, no cheese...just mustard, baked Cheetos (do you know that you can have about 34 of those for 1 oz or 130 cal.?), 14 shrimp with minimum cocktail sauce, and 1 c. of mixed fresh fruit.   While they had cake and  ice cream, I had 1/2 c. light vanilla ice cream and a protein/granola bar.

I was beat that night, so I made grilled cheese sandwiches and soup.....made tomato soup with water, not milk.........and I made the sandwiches out of 45 cal per slice bread, with fat free Promise and a slice of 2% cheese.   Even that didn't get me to my high calorie range, so I topped the night off with a banana, a mini bag of popcorn and a trail mix bar.   I felt like I ate a ton of food, but came in at 2162 calories.   My high day can be at an upper limit of 2175 calories. :tongue::tongue:

So, tomorrow (Tuesday) is weigh in day.   I (scale junkie that I am) did get on it over the weekend and it was down a little bit.   Didn't want to get on today, right after a high calorie day:shock:   Will report in tomorrow, good or bad:devil:

Sounds like you did excellent in spite of a very busy weekend! :ribbon:

I also have problems at times with eating enough on my maintenance day.  It would be a breeze with empty junk food calories - but that would obviously defeat our purpose huh?   I try to throw in a protein shake after my workout (approx 200 - 275 cals depending on the ingredients) or an extra handful of almonds (150 cals) which I l.o.v.e. LOL and possibly some soy chips, etc.  There are times when I just plain run out of time too...who wants to be stuffed at bedtime?

Good luck with tomorrow's weigh in - it sounds like you already know it's good news!!  Woohooo!!!

And thank you so very much for your prayers in my diary.  You'll never know how much I appreciate them. :rose:

Grrrrrrrrr:angry:    I left my notebook at home, so I can't get my totals down tonight.

Well, Tuesday morning's weigh-in was disappointing.   My scale said 172.0, which was the same as the previous Tuesday.   It has been down a little to 171.2 the last two mornings.   I am being so good, and I was hoping for more.   I really need to find time for that cardio in the morning........I'm sure that would make a difference!   Anyway, 3 times to Curves so far this week, and I plan on going tomorrow.

Today is maintenance day, and I'd really like to know how far along I am with calories.   I am writing down what I've eaten, but so many of my figures are in that notebook.    I feel like I've had a lot of grain carbs today........

I bought a can of soup the other day, that I am trying with my tuna salad sandwich tonight.    It's Progresso's "vegetable classics" Lentil.....it's not too bad, it kind of grows on you.

I guess that the good news is that even though the scale isn't making big changes, there is definitely more room in my pants.   I could tell it in the last 3 pair I've worn.   A non-scale result, for all those NSV's I've had.   I haven't eaten this clean for several months and it feels good.....I just want more scale results:grin:

I am going to veer off track a little this weekend.....today is a maintenance day, so the next one should be Monday....but we are having my grandson's birthday party on Sunday, and it's Super Bowl Sunday too.   I'd like to make that my maintenance day, instead of just giving in and blowing the day away.   And that way, I'd also not have a higher calorie day(Mon) the day before weigh in.

Whoa!   I'm not sure where to start.......it's been so long since I posted anything about food.

MONDAY:  calories-1619, protein-124.45 (30.7%), fat-29.05 (16.1%), carbs-53.2% fiber-45 gr

TUESDAY:  calories-1651, protein-109.55 (26.5%), fat-25.25 (13.8%), carbs-59.7%  fiber-38.3 gr

WEDNESDAY:  calories-1767, protein-108.9 (24.7%), fat-29.5g. (15%), carbs-60.3%, fiber-27.9%

THURSDAYMAINTENANCE DAY   calories-2107, protein-149.95 (28.5%), fat-34.9 (14.9%), carbs-56.6%,  fiber-65.4 gr

FRIDAY:  calories-1590, protein-106.55 (26.8%), fat-21.6 (12.2%), carbs-61%, fiber-37.9 gr.

SATURDAY:  calories-1965, protein-113.25 (23.1%), fat-60.6 (27.8%), carbs-49.1%, fiber-39 gr.

SUNDAY:    Super Bowl Sunday.....what do you think?

I think I did really well this week, until Sunday.........we had my grandson's birthday party, and then the Super Bowl after that.    I lost it with the fruit pizza:shock:    My daughter was serving pizza (I offered to bring a Papa Murphy's De-Lite Veggie), and I also made a cold veggie pizza appetizer (used reduced fat crescent rolls, fat-free cream cheese and fat-free mayo, and a little bit of 2% cheddar cheese).   I also brought along an nice assortment of raw veggies and fat-free dip.    I skipped the birthday cake and ice cream, in favor of a (140 cal.-10 gr. protein) granola bar.   I drank light lemonade and water.   But, like I said, I ate way too many pieces of my daughter-in-law-to-be's fruit pizza.   It is just the best recipe I've even eaten.

When we got home to watch the Super Bowl, we had a ham/turkey sub (the church Youth Group was selling them as a fundraiser).   I added lots of veggies, mustard and fat-free mayo to mine, but it was white bread.   I had a bowl of baked Doritoes, and some shrimp with cocktail sauce during the game.   I drank a light lemonade and a Smirnoff Black Ice:angry: and lots of water.   Oh, I also had a handful of baked Cheetos at the birthday party.

So, I don't think it was a total disaster.....but I wasn't as controlled as I'd hoped to be.    I still ate a lot of food, even if most of it was smarter choices.

Another thing I did over the weekend, was to average out my totals for the last few weeks.......I started writing things down again on Monday, January 15, 2007

Monday Jan. 15-Friday Jan. 19 (5 days)  calories-1847, protein-125.9 (27.3%), fat-37.2gr. (18.1%), carbs-54.6%, and fiber-40.2 gr.

Saturday, Jan. 20-Friday, Jan. 26-calories-1677, protein-133.9 (31.9%), fat-29.2gr (15.7%), carbs-52.4%, and fiber-39.5 gr.

Saturday, Jan. 27-Friday, Feb. 2:  calories-1772, protein-114.5 gr (25.9%), fat-32.25 gr (16.4%), carbs-57.7%, and fiber-40.6 gr.

Well, tomorrow morning is my weigh in day.   My scale looked good to me on Saturday morning..........will see what it looks like after my splurge yesterday.   Saturday was a little higher than I wanted too, as we decided to go out to dinner that evening:sad:

Here's to a good number on the scale tomorrow morning!:martini::beer::martini::beer::martini::beer::martini::beer::devil:

Exactly!  Boy, did I slip.  I think we're in the majority, though.

I lost it with the fruit pizza:shock:

Ok...that intrigues me totally!  I don't think I've ever heard of fruit pizza before.  What's on that pizza?  (I'm drooling already lol!)

I wish you good luck on your weigh in, Hisgal!:clover:

Scoobs..........you've never had fruit pizza????   I should get the recipe from my future daughter-in-law and give it to you.   I have a recipe, but hers is much better:yum:

It is basically a crust (sweet), with a cream cheese mixture on top, topped with any pieces of fruit you'd like (you can get real carried away with designs and colors), and a fruit glaze on top.   The one on Sunday was a jelly roll pan size (10 X 15) and she thought she'd have leftovers to take to a Super Bowl party...........yah, right!   Not a piece left!   It's a great thing to have on a splurge or treat day, it's so yummy:yum:

The weight in this morning didn't go well :angry::nono::sad::angry::nono:   I was at 172.0 last Tuesday and at 172.4 this morning:angry::angry::angry:    I was at 170.0 on Saturday morning and was flying high!   Must be water weight, as my pants are looser than ever, and even the sweater I'm wearing is looser around the hips and sides.    I'm doing this the right way, so it will show on the scale eventually.  I have to believe that.

It's still frustrating to think that one day of eating can set me back weeks!!!!!  That is so not fair.   I am very careful day after day, and I decide to take a break one day and the scale jumps up:angry::angry::angry:    It's not even like I had really good food!   Other than the fruit pizza and the Smirnoff Ice, every thing else was a low fat or fat free version or else legal food.     Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

That fruit pizza sounds soooo good, Hisgal! I've never had it eaither.

Don't sweat that gain. You are doing it right. The way clothes are fitting is a SUCH better indicator than stupid numbers. You didn't honestly gain two pounds just from Super Bowl Sunday, no way.

Thanks for the encouraging words, CG:grin:    I know I didn't gain 2 pounds since Saturday, but it is so discouraging to see it on the scale:angry:    I guess that's why it's not good to be a scale junkie:smile::smile:

However, on the other hand, being I am a scale junkie.......I had to step on this morning.......and instead of saying 172.4 like yesterday...........it said 169.8

Yessssssssssssssss!   The 160's again!   Finally!    Thanks for all the encouragement everyone.......I know I'm doing this the right way, I just have to stick with it.   And really, it's not hard, because I am eating lots of food, and it seems like it's always time for the next meal.   I guess I just like to be rewarded with some progress:tongue:

I see I haven't posted my totals since last Saturday..........yikes!   Where does time go?

SUNDAY-Super Bowl......no way did I keep track of calories:shock:

MONDAY:  calories-1624, protein-131.2 (32.3%), fat-30.5gr (16.9%), carbs-50.8% and fiber-33.9 gr.

TUESDAY:  calories-1559, protein-123.25 (31.6%), fat-23.45gr (13.5%), carbs-54.9% and fiber-25 gr.

WEDNESDAY:  calories-1640, protein-124.7 (30.4%), fat-31.7gr (17.4%), carbs-52.2% and fiber-43.35 gr.

THURSDAY:  Maintenance Day-not finished with today yet....was a good day to have maintenance!   My boss is back from 6 weeks in AZ and had lunch delivered to the office so we could have staff meeting and catch her up on what's going on.   Had chicken dumpling soup and shredded beef on a wheat bun:yum:..........passed on the yummy cookies  (actually, I took one and put it in a sandwich bag to bring home to the hubby-I noticed his cookie containers were all empty this morning:tongue:)   I am at 1686 calories and should be at 1994-2071 for maintenance day or if I want to go 5% over maintenance calories, I could eat as much as 2094-2175 calories.   But I have Women's Bible Study at church tonight, so being I won't get home until around 9:00 p.m., I will shoot for the lesser amount.

Scoobees, I tried Yogo Booty Ballet for the first time this morning.   Finally got home from work at a more decent time the last 2 nights, so I got my lunch prepared at night and had some time in the morning.   I think I will like it once I get the hang of it......sure felt like a fool doing it the first time.    Good thing the hubs wasn't there....he'd have had a good laugh:tongue:    Do you think Turbo Jam is any easier to learn?

:star::star::star::star: Yay Hisgal!!!  Congrats on your weigh in!! :star::star::star::star:

I am so happy you've seen wonderful progress once again!!!  I know how frustrating it is to know you're doing everything the RIGHT way and not see it on the scale for a bit.

Ok...how do I admit this? Hmmm...well...I STILL haven't tried my YBB!!!  Of course I'm laughing hysterically right now.  It's still in the box on the entertainment center...heeeheee.  But in my defense...I did OPEN it once and even WATCHED a couple of the workouts (and dozed off oops) LOL!  I'm so glad you've tried it though!  What did ya think?  I know what you mean about feeling like a fool; I saw the infomercial on TV for a second today and I feel foolish just watching them!  I don't mind hubs watching me turbo jam but I don't think I could bear his laughter at this!   I am so hoping it's a better workout than it appears to be.  I was sorta counting on this to be a good lower impact workout for me as I am getting older and don't recover so quickly from these higher impact ones.  It just looked really silly at first glance anyway...I'm used to more structured and less dancey stuff.  I have good intentions on trying it though ... tomorrow will be a week since my medical stuff, so I am chomping at the bit to do something physical...maybe it should be YBB since I doubt I'll be able to follow along decent enough to work up a huge sweat LOL.

Sorry I couldn't answer your question...as soon as I give it a try I'll let you know what I think, too.

Thanks for the message on my diary Hisgal! I've been reading yours, I started way back on the 1st page, then skipped to the 6th, then to this one. You seem to eat so well! I guess I should also keep track of fat% and not just calories. Your fiber intake is really high too! I'm proud of myself when I get 30-40 grams, and you get 60 on some days! I know what you mean when it's exciting to get down into the lower 10's than you have been. I got so excited to see the 70's then 60, 50 and so on. Everytime I'd get into the lower half of the ten I'd be anxious for the next. It's nice that someone else plays the number game like that. Oh yeah, and I love digital scales too. I don't have one at home b/c I'm too cheap, but my gym has one, and I always round it down . Anyway, good luck to you. People like you who have been working at this for so long really inspire me to keep going and not give up too. I'm rooting for you!

Thanks for your comments, Sara, I'm rooting for you too:thumbsup:    I appreciate it when people write their food in their diaries, because sometimes it gives me new ideas of things to eat.    I don't always write my food, I go in spurts.........but I hope it will give others some ideas.   If nothing else....maybe it will show them how easy it is to get fiber into your diet.    If you are getting 30-40 gr. a day, you are doing really well.   I saw a book promo last week on a morning news show....they were saying that women need at least 20 grams of fiber a day for heart health.    That seems so low to me.........if I don't have at least 30 gr. a day, my first thought is that I didn't have enough fruits and veggies:shock:

Scoobees...........I was sure you would have done YBB already!   You seem to have so much energy and are exercising all the time, compared to me:smile:   Of course, don't push it right now, until you know you are healed from your tests.   I tried it again this morning,(we need an icon with a full belly laugh) and I can't remember the name of it, but I did the same one as yesterday.   It would still have been hilarious to watch me..........but I felt a little more coordinated.   One of the others that I'd watched when I first got the DVD, looked like more of a cardio workout than this one.   I might try that one tomorrow.    Some of the moves I don't do, just because I don't want the knee and hip to start hurting again.........so I just continue doing the last thing they were working on, until they move on to something I feel I can do.    The only difference is when they shimmy their booty, it doesn't jiggle like mine does.   Jiggle...........that doesn't seem like the right word.........is there a word for large amounts of fat and flesh bouncing up and down?

Meal 2:  chicken dumpling soup, hot shredded beef on wheat bun (office lunch)

TOTALS:   calories-2053, protein-132.55 gr.(25.8%), fat-42.2 gr (18.5%), carbs-55.7% and fiber-45.2 grams

Thursday was a strange day.........because of the lunch at the office, Bible Study at night (so I worked late-until I left for church), and then having to many calories to use up for my last meal at night.   I got home at 9:00, and didn't make the food I'd mentally planned for dinner....too tired.:dizzy:   But, the totals ended up coming out OK, I just didn't seem to have any veggies for the day.

And yeah, I would have thought I'd already have done it, too.  I procrastinate alot.  I was happy with my rotation of turbo jam with the elliptical/bike and wasn't ready for a change, I guess.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it LOL.  I really think I'll try it tomorrow.  I have a good portion of the afternoon free...Hmmmm...

Hey Pat - I've been reading thru your posts and find it very inspiring that you are hanging in there.  I am soooo glad I found this Forum.  My only problem now will be to pace myself and not spend too much time here !  I didn't read all the way thru all your posts - but, it looks like you started out on the ETL plan and now you are using the BFFM - am I correct?  I bought the ETL book a long time ago - but, honestly after looking at it - I just don't see it as something I could do long term.  I just like my meat too much.  But, in keeping with what the ETL book suggests - I have really increased my fruits and veggies.  Main thing is that you can eat sooo much of them for so little calories!  And, Lordy, don't ya know I loves to eat!  Well, that stands to reason - or I wouldn't have the weight problem or even be here- now would I?  Keep on Keeping on!

Scoobs, wouldn't you know it........I get up early this morning to tackle YBB again....and the hubs decides to get up early too:shock:   Well I had the DVD in already, so I continued on.    He stayed through the whole thing and didn't even laugh at me or make any comments when I didn't do everything, but skipped the things I knew  would put something out of adjustment:devil:   I think he was just watching the good looking women on the tape:smile:    So, I am proud to say, I've done that DVD 3 days in a row:thumbsup:    I sure never thought I'd do that!   You must be contagious, Scoobees:lightbulb:   Now if I could just do something about all this extra skin!!   I swear that after 50, it has no elasticity left.    I'd love to be able to just cut it off!

Hootmom, you are right....I was on Eat to Live when I joined this forum.   I never thought I could give up so much meat either, but it wasn't nearly as hard as I thouight it would be.    I am following the BFFM plan for zig-zagging right now, in an effort to just get this weight off.   However, I am a bit worried about what it is doing to my cholesterol and triglyceride numbers.:sad::sad:   I like eating 5 meals a day, and it makes sense to me to try to keep them each around 300 calories, so your body can burn each meal off.   However, I do still try to push the fruits and veggies.   My usual lunch is a huge salad, loaded with a good variety of other veggies, and either black beans or chickpeas.   But, when I did follow Eat to Live, I only ate about 12  oz. of animal products a week.   I got used to it, and it was no problem.    The book had a lot of good info in it though!  You know what surprised me???   I had switched back to 1% milk, as I usually kept it in the house for when my son or grandsons were home.   But I picked up some soy milk again about 2 weeks ago, not using it for a week........but I found that I really enjoyed the taste of it again!   And I did love my homemade veggie pizzas.........whole grain pitas, tomato sauce and seasonings, veggies and soy cheese (mozzarella flavored).   I really like the food I'm eating now..........will be nice if I can drop the weight while eating it.    I just love this forum, and the friends I've made here.   It is what has kept me going.....despite my ups and downs.   I'm sure you will too:tongue:

Hisgal---I hear you about extra skin---I have not taken off enough to notice yet, but I fear that it is unavoidable---If I lose all 200 extra lbs I just know it is going to be there---I read something about "brushing" the skin---It is easy and cheep---You take a natural bristle brush and "brush" you skin when it is dry.  If nothing else, it feels nice---Just a thought---Luckily the doctors can cut it off:chewing:.  Keep up the good work--

By the way, did you ever think that your husband was watching you when you were exercising and not the girl on the tape??? I am sure you are looking hot!!

OK, got to report my food totals:

FRIDAY:  Calories-1594, protein-131.2gr (32.9%), fat-28.1gr (15.9%), carbs-51.2% and fiber-30.6 gr.

SATURDAY:  calories-1619, protein-117.2 (30%), fat-35.75gr (19.9%), carbs-50.1% and fiber-36.1 gr.

I ate a big lunch on Saturday (high calories), so really had to cut the other 3 meals I had left.   Was hoping to have some low fat microwave popcorn tonight, but I had 2 pieces of salmon for dinner, so no popcorn.:crying::sad::crying:

I am trying to figure something out......Monday and Friday should be my maintenance days.   But, I'd like to splurge a little on Valentine's Day, and again on Thursday, when the office is going out after work to my favorite Mexican restaurant, and then next Sunday, we are taking the kids and families out to celebrate my son's and daughter's birthdays.   They chose the Roadhouse Grill...........anybody else familiar with this?    Hubs and I were there a few years ago.    Well, I pulled their nutritional info off the internet....:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:    A slab of babyback ribs is 1610 calories and 123 grams of fat!!!   I think it's safe to say I won't be having that.    But, 6 of their salad entrees have over 100 grams of total fat each:shock:    I am going to have to do some serious studying of the nutrition info and plan ahead and stick to it........or it will be sticking to me:tongue:

Congrats on doing that dvd 3 days in a row!  I need to get on a roll like you.  Isn't it hard to do the workout when you know hubs is watching?  Mine has never laughed at me...yet...but did make fun of my 'wimpy' uppercut punches that one time...  Booger.

However, today I actually waited for him to leave before I put in my YBB dvd.  Yes, you heard right - I finally tried one!!!!:grin:  I knew I'd be embarrassed enough so I waited till he went to work.  You know what?  I LIKED it alot!!  I thought I'd be really let down, but was pleasantly surprised.

I'm one of those people who always read the directions, do thing by the book, etc. so I started with the recommended Day 1 dvd which is Total Toning Basics.  The warm up went fine...the ballet section proved once again that I have NO balance and am as graceful as an elephant  but was fun, the yoga part blew my mind however.  I can't believe how weak I am now, and how much core strength I am lacking.  Wow.  My upper body is sore ALREADY.  If I had to do one more downward dog or beetle squat - Ugh.  The cardio/weights part was easy and a tad boring but what can you expect.  I was grateful the abs portion was quick...but all in all I think I did pretty good...and the 45 min went fast.

I skimmed through the rest of the workouts and I am really intimidated with the booty shakin' and stuff LOL.  I've noticed that the rest of the workouts all have a portion of cardio mixed with portions of ballet, yoga, and abs.  I guess it's like a one stop shop for everything.  I'm used to more cardio, so I don't know how this will all work with weight loss.  After the first week maybe I'll add some on my own.

Oops...sorry Hisgal for going on and on!  I guess I should have put all this in my own diary LOL!!!  I was just so excited to tell you that I actually dusted off my YBB!  Hurray!!!

Scoobs,

I can't believe I did it 3 days in a row either!   I gave myself Sunday off, and this morning I dug out an old "Sweatin' to the oldies" tape.   I think when I bought it, I was so overweight and out of shape, that I never did do an entire session.    Let me tell you I was sweatin'!   I liked it!   My heartrate for a 10-second count was about 4-5 beats higher than I get it at Curves, but then that is mostly resistance machines.   If mine gets too high there, I just take it a little easier on the recovery stations.   They really stress keeping your heartrate in the right range, so you actually burn fat.

Glad to hear you liked YBB........I should go back and do the first DVD.   I watched it a couple of times, but that was when my knee and hip were really hurting.   They are much better now.

You reminded me of my Sweatin' to the Oldies2 tape I have!  I think I'll get it out and try it as well!!!!  It was really fun - and I liked the music!  I don't know if I'll be able to get through the whole thing or not - it's 55 minutes!  I have been looking for some other work out videos.  I'd like to find some that last only about 20 to 30 minutes.  Seems like everything I have right now last close to an hour. :rabbit: After getting up and starting work at 6 AM - coming home - and fixing supper - it's a challenge to dedicate more than 30 minutes a day to my workout.  Tell me some more about the YBB dvd you and Scoobees are talking about!
Guess what!?  I have made it 24 hours without getting on the scales!  Baby steps...so tempting....:bear:

Hootmom, YBB is Yoga Booty Ballet.   I saw it on an infomercial and ordered it from Amazon.com.   I think Scoobees got hers at Sam's Club?   It's a combination of the three things in the title.   Some of the yoga "talk" is really weird to me, but I've liked the workout.   If I get to something I can't do, I just continue doing the last thing that I could do.   I've watched some, but the only one I've actually done is Cardio Cabaret (about 30 minutes).   I think it's actually kind of fun, and I do work up a sweat.....which is what I'm going for.   My ballet skills and core strength are zero!  But each time through, I get a little stronger and better at it.   I need to try out the other 2 DVD's that came with it.   I'll let you know what I think after I try those.

I loved the music on my Sweatin to the Oldies.   And I was thinking mine lasted about 45 minutes.   It was a good workout......got me sweatin' and the heart pumping:smile:

Congrats on holding out with the scale.   Was wishing I hadn't gotten on mine this morning:shock:   I feel like I'm doing things right, but the scale is being so stubborn.   I go to Curves most every weekday, and now have added morning, fasted cardio also.   I keep a detailed food dairy, tracking protein, fat, carbs and fiber.     I was expecting great things this morning.............I was up 1.2 lbs.   But, later this morning I realized why............TTOM again!   Here's hoping next Tuesday goes better!

Do you keep track of your Body Fat % in any way? I know the electro method isn't that accurate (seems highly dependent on hydration) but would be interesting to know if that is improving.

No, JM, I don't.   I have been seriously considering ordering a calipers to check it.....but have been working so much lately, that I just haven't taken time to do it.   But, this was a good reminder.   Thanks!

Whoa!   Better get my totals down..........I've been keeping track:grin:

SUNDAY, FEB 11:  calories-1532, protein-122.55 (32%), fat-28.1 (16.5%), carbs-51.5% and fiber 39.2 gr

MONDAY, FEB 12Maintenance Day:tongue:: calories-2063, protein-144.2 (28%), fat-36.9 (16.1%), carbs-55.9%, and fiber 44.8 gr

TUESDAY, FEB 13:  calories-1654, protein-137 (33.1%), fat-31.7 (17.2%), carbs-49.7% and fiber 43.5 gr

WEDNESDAY, FEB 14:  calories-1508, protein-129.75 (34.4%), fat-31 (18.5%), carbs-47.1% and fiber 40.4 gr.

Tuesday, 2/13 was weigh in day...................171.2 lbs

previous Tuesday, 2/6 was at 172.4 lbs.    This appears to be progress, but I know that most days in between, I weighed in at 169.  I know it's water weight-TTOM

My original plan, when I started zig-zagging, was to do this until Lent started.   If I wasn't making good progress..........I was going to go back to a strict Eat to Live.   I know I can drop weigh on that plan.   However, to do that, I need to drop most all breads, rice, pastas.   I have really been enjoying my light bread, whole grain pitas and flat wraps and brown rice.....also baked yams.    I like what I am eating now, and have a good variety of foods to choose from.

I read on a BFFM for Women forum, that most people don't do the zig-zagging correctly.   She said you need to keep the carbs at 30% for 3 days, and high for 1 day, etc.   But, what I am doing now, seems to be like the Wendie plan and that works for others.   Am I just so sensitive to carbs that I can't lose weight on a regular basis while eating them?????????   I LOVE THEM DEARLY!!!   Lent starts next Wednesday...............I've got some serious thinking and analyzing to do:angry:

It looks like you've been doing well though. If you weigh 169 lbs., that's 3.4 lbs. lost in a week while eatting carbs! It seems to be like you're doing great! Plus, even if the other diet makes you drop weight faster, if it's going to be #%@&! for you not being able to eat carbs, then is it worth it? I know I would rather drop weight at a slower pace and have fun doing it than lose weight quickly while dying for a piece of bread. I guess it's different for every person though. Good luck with which ever one you choose

Thanks for the input......you guys are right.   It's just that I started this on Jan. 2 at 176.8, and had a goal of 2 lbs per week, so I could be at goal weight by my son's wedding in June.   So far it's at 5.6 lbs. in 6 weeks.   I was hoping for more than that.    Maybe if I cut back on some of the breads?   It's so good to have others to point out the obvious to you sometimes:tongue:   Thanks to both of you:thumbsup:

I know how you feel.  I started out thinking - I'll be glad to lose 2 lbs a week - now, that's a healthy, do-able goal.  Well, when that didn't work, then I decided - If I could only see 1 lb a week - then - it may take longer - but, I could live with that.  Then I figured - well - 1/2 lb a week - if only.  So - I have a little bit of the "envy" when I see people achieve even a little bit of weight loss!  BUT - even at 1 pound a week or so, you'll still be a lot thinner (and healthier) for your son's wedding - and he'll still be just as proud of you!  (Plus, you don't want to "steal the show" - with all that weight loss!)  LOL -JustKidding:grin:

I almost forgot.........I had a big NSV

I went out to dinner and drinks last night with the office crew (hubs couldn't make it, as he had a meeting to go to)..........and we went to my favorite Mexican restaurant, and............................I nibbled on NO chips and salsa, I ordered the veggie burrito and only ate half of it, and I drank water and 1 glass of cabernet:martini:!   When I got home, I still had 100 calories left to hit my unadjusted RMR!:thumbsup::thumbsup:   :ribbon:

That's it exactly, Hootmom!  I had such high hopes.....and they are slowly coming down.   Thanks for reminding me of my progress so far...........I keep thinking about the fact that I was at 160 at the beginning of Nov...........let myself put these pounds back on over the holidays.............and I WANT THEM OFF..........YESTERDAY!

I also need to remind myself of how far I've come........a couple of years ago, I was at 247 lbs.   And now I am complaining about 169-171?   What am I thinking of?   I have many blessings to count!

Well, I know that I'll survive..........with the help of all my :cph: friends:bug::bug::bug::bug:

Thanks, everyone!

Yay Hisgal!  That's a huge NSV!  The chips & salsa get me every single time.  I would munch mindlessly on them until they're gone...and unfortunately refilled once again LOL.

Definitely remind yourself often of how far you've come.  To think you've come all the way from 247 pounds is mind-blowing!  But I know exactly how you feel when you check the scale and it's not going down as fast as you'd like...are we done yet??  I want it yesterday, too.  And I also forget how far I've come and the need to celebrate that one pound loss when it comes.  In my case lately, sometimes the 1/2 pound even!  I was way too focused on the end result for most of my journey and missed celebrating those smaller victories along the way.

And now I am complaining about 169-171?   What am I thinking of?   I have many blessings to count!

Exactly!!!! You go girl!  We will get there...no doubt in my mind whatsoever!!!

You got it Patchers!  It stands for Non-Scale Victory.  One of our members here, Skipperdox brought it to us from one of her Weight Watchers meetings and it totally stuck with us.  It really opened up my eyes to 'other victories' besides just what the ole scale says...whether it's a pair of pants that suddenly gets loose, resisting a to-die-for treat, a fabulous compliment, etc..anything that confirms we are on that road to wellness.  Kinda neat, ya know?

Yesterday was a maintenance day..........after keeping the calories low for 3 days, these days seem like an abundance of calories.........almost more than I can eat.   I'd been eating my usual for the day, and the hubs asked if I would bring a pizza home.   Well, I checked the Papa Murphy's site, and found I could 1/2 of a Hawaiian De-Lite for 700 calories.   I usually keep each meal lower than that, calorie-wise, but pizza sounded so good:devil:..........and I had been so good.   So, I brought it home and it was very satisfying.   I actually had quite a few calories left after that, so I had an apple with fat free vanilla yogurt for a dip, a mini-popcorn bag and some peanuts too.   However, I got carried away on the peanuts and ended up about 60 calories over my maintenance calories:sad:   However, if I'd eaten all those foods a couple of years ago, I would never would have been at 2200 calories for the day:thumbsup:.......I'd have kept going on the peanuts, eaten a regular pizza loaded with greasy meat, etc. and ended up with 4-5000 calories for the day.

One of my new favorite mealsa turkey wrap (whole grain flat wrap, spread with 2 Tbsp. fat free cream cheese, 2 slices lean turkey sandwich meat, 1 Tbsp 2% cheddar shreds and roll it up....serve with 2 Tbsp salsa) with a salad of cole slaw mix, 1/2 c. pineapple, 1/8 c.
