Web- Good luck on your surgery tomorrow! thank you so much for the inspiration! I have tried so many different things and have not grown to absolutely love any of them. I  entered for that house as well... my only worry about winning is sales tax and property tax i could only imagine how outrageous they would be.

On that note, just in case anyone was wondering. Although its a contest and you win it, whether it be a house or a car, you must still pay the sales and property tax. I had a friend who was unaware of this and had their house foreclosed by the town because although they did not have a mortgage on the house they were unable to afford the property tax. I also have seen people win cars in raffles, go to sell them before titling/registering them and be dumbfounded when theyre told they need to pay sales tax on the vehicle. I would hate that to happen to anyone. Everyone has given so much insight to so many different things, with Web's reference to winning the hgtv house I thought I could finally put my 2 cents in about something I know a very little about.

PS. I am soooo sorry if none of that made sense, Ive had a couple glasses of wine. he he he:wink::devil:

Thanks, everyone!  I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers!  I just received a call that they have moved my surgery up to first slot in the morning... 6:45 a.m. Yikes!  I have to get my head ready!  So I am going to take it easy the rest of the night and get some good sleep.  I will be talking to you all in a couple of days or so, hopefully.  It's tough to keep me down, so it shouldn't be long!  Kitty, I am taking the surgery prayer you sent me with me.  :rose:Thanks for your thoughts!  :heart:Hugs to you all, and take good care of each other! :moon: Nightie night!

Webfairy's motto until she gets back from the surgery will be a simple sign.

"REV_2:25"

'...Hold fast until I return...'

I know I'm late in saying this, but best wishes for you and your surgery tomorrow. =) Get back here soon so I can throw more annoying wit your way!!

Time for me to vent... I HATE credit cards, once all of mine are paid off thats it i'm done, i will have one in case of emergencies and that is it!

One of my cards sent me checks to transfer balances with a lower apr than what i was paying on some of my other cards. I decided to transfer the balances on 3 of my cards. All of the checks supposdly went through. 2 weeks later on one of the cards that i transerred the balance is back up to what it was along with a cancelled check fee... apparently the card that i transferred sent out checks to me with my old account number on it... I reported my old card stolen over 3 weeks ago. arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg so now i have to go through this whole ridiculous process again except over the phone.

things happen in 3's supposedly (im still waiting for the 3rd)... well my bf called me about an hour ago to tell me that his cousin tried to kill herself... she apparently had also od'ed on coke...  my bf's family is sooooo close and i am closer to them than my own family.  He is trying to decide whether or not to drive the 3 hours to be with his family.. I see both sides of it,  one part of me says that he should go support his family but the other part of me says that 3 hours is too far too travel just to find out that she's fine and his mother exagerated it. Did that sound really heartless?

As I read over the posts every day, I find a common thread among all of them.  We are all connected to this thread by taking care of each other, being there for one another, whether it be
  • A suggestion for food substitutions
  • A recipe to share
  • A congrats on weight loss
  • A pick-me-up when someone is down.

We all have that one thread to bring us all together.  Amazingly, we have three separate Forums we connect:  Nonfat Chat, Beyond Calories and General Discussions- we are always somewhere helping each other.  And so it goes, another…

 STORY O' THE DAY

The Bear and the Two Travelers
Author: Unknown

Two men were traveling together, when a Bear suddenly met them on their path. One of them climbed up quickly into a tree and concealed himself in the branches. The other, seeing that he must be attacked, fell flat on the ground, and when the Bear came up and felt him with his snout, and smelt him all over, he held his breath, and feigned the appearance of death as much as he could. The Bear soon left him, for it is said he will not touch a dead body. When he was quite gone, the other Traveler descended from the tree, and jocularly inquired of his friend what it was the Bear had whispered in his ear. "He gave me this advice," his companion replied. "Never travel with a friend who deserts you at the approach of danger."

HI Y'ALL!

Now listen up y'all!  The STORY O' THE DAY is a little different today.  It's actually a hilarious poem that I can soooooooooooo relate to.  I certainly hope no one gets offended by this- it is meant strictly for your laughs, to put smiles on your faces.  I, personally, can relate COMPLETELY to it because that is EXACTLY how I got myself into this mess!!!  Cleaning out the cupboards!  If we can't laugh at ourselves, what else is there!

Marge on a Midnight Raid

Half a loaf, half a loaf,
Half a loaf onward.
All in the belly at once,
Toasted and buttered.
"Downward the raisin bread,
Charge past the gums!" she said.
Into the belly, the crunch
Echoed and sputtered.

"Forward the Midnight Raid!
Slather the marmalade!"
(Not tho' the sleeper knew
Someone had plundered.)

Ice cream and pizza pie,
Hers not to pass 'em by.
Choc'late chip by the batch,
Scavenged and down the hatch.

Mirror to right of her
Mirror to left of her
Mirror behind her,
Back to the cupboard.
"Diet begins at dawn,
After the food's all gone,"
Humbly she blubbered.

I HOPE Y'ALL ENJOYED THAT AS MUCH AS I DID!  HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

LOVE YA'

Good thing I have better judgement than that now! Lol....Love it!

Hello all my friends.  I am just popping in to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.  As you can see, they worked!  I am pretty sore today, and just taking it easy.  Yesterday I pretty much slept all day.  I told the doc I felt ok and did not see any reason to stay in the hospital.  So he let me go home after I got out of recovery, with a promise to come back, if necessary.  I think that is one of the reasons I feel so much better than I expected (coming home and sleeping in my own bed).  I was pretty out of it and don't remember a whole lot, but my BF said the surgeon was "impressed with the results".  Today I feel worse than yesterday, I think as all the anesthesia wore off finally, and now I am taking pain meds.  But I am being very conservative with the meds so trying to sleep off the pain.  It's not that bad, really, just mostly sore, and some pain here and there.  I'm not a baby, but I do want to rest and take it easy as I have a tendancy to think I am Wonder Woman and invincible at times!   I forget I am not in my 20's anymore!  I just have to take it a teeny bit slower, that's all.  I get to take the bandages off on Tuesday and can't wait to see my "results". I have my follow up appointment on Thursday.  So everything looks good!

I haven't been able to read all your posts just yet, as I am not feeling too comfortable sitting at my computer for long.  But maybe by the end of the weekend I can catch up on what I missed.  Thank you all again.  I appreciate every one of you.  Bailey, I will PM you soon about what happened.  Thanks for all your experienced information.  I really appreciate it!  The worst about this whole thing (besides the soreness) is that I can't lift things just yet and feel kind of helpless.  I do not like that, but if that is the worst of it, then I have no business complaining!

Thanks sooooo much for everything!  You're all the best!  Hugs (but not tight hugs... hehehe).

Margo~thanks for the post. I hate not knowing how you are and having to "wait". Sunshine did hear from you BF and let us all know you were home. So thanks for that.
Now, the mom in my is going to speak...do not, do not be conservative with your pain meds...if you need them... take them. they may have benefits like reduce the inflamation, which will promote healing. Okay, i've said my piece. Glad you could pop in and let us know how you are doing.

Web- I think once all the pain and swelling are gone, you will be so pleased. I know two people that had the exact same surgery and they both say now that it is the best thing they have ever done.  The recovery wasn't easy but they look and feel great now. Both were having some serious back and neck issues and now all of that is gone too. Good Luck and I am so excited for you!! There is one other big plus to it as well...but I won't post it here!! LOL.

So I thought I'd see this morning, and not only am I up, I am a pound up from when I started this cycle! Like 4 pounds? The last 2 days I havent stuck exsactly with a cheat or 2, but last cycle, this didn't happen. I lost more eating lucky charms and pancakes! Help!!! I have fro-yo on the menu today, amd you'd better believe I'm going to eat it!

Ok I don't normally do this BUT I have to share this link. It is from a BBC show called Let's Dance for Comic Relief. It has celebrities reenacting famous dance sequence all to raise money for charity. But that's not why I'm sharing this.

Watched this last night with my flatmate and genuinely had sore checks from laughing. I have rewatched it numerous on Youtube and laugh each time . But that's not why I'm sharing it.

The reason I am sharing it is because this person (a comedian  not a dancer) has taken a risk and achieved something incredible. They have set out to do something, put it all on the line and has done it was flair, style and not an ounce of self-consciousness. Its how I want to lead my life, just not in those leotards.

Joanne what is the name of the film clip on Youtube...it didn't link me directly to the film...just the general site.  Says we can not get it in the USA...but if I know that name perhaps I can find it or another film of it.

Here are a couple of different links -

They may be blocked because its a English show, which would be gutting cause dancing like this needs to be shared .

Hello my friends!  I am so happy  today!  Yesterday was a rough day, and I lie around on the couch watching old movies and feeling awful.  But today I got up with  a new attitude.  I got to take a shower, wash my hair, finally take off all the bandages off, put makeup on, and I feel like an actual human being instead of a zombie!  This is the best I have felt so far, and I feel like it is all downhill from here.   I get my tubes out Thursday, the last remnant of the surgery, and I feel like will be a new person.  I already feel like that, actually, I just want the tubes outta here! My neighbor came by to check up on me and said she would never have known I just had surgery by looking at me.  Yay!  I am feeling fantastic!  I really believe your mental attitude has so much to do with recovery... and everything!  So I should be around and available for whatever is needed.  Thanks to everyone for the well wishes and prayers of a speedy recovery!  It worked!  You guys are awesome!

StillaKiwi - Flashdance is one of my favorite movies.  I own it, actually.  But watching Robert Webb do that for Comic Relief was great!  Thanks for sharing that link!  And Nir, thanks for sharing who Robert Webb is, as I had no idea it was that guy.

Margo - I feel I must apologise. I was reading the messages this morning (before 6am) and I started from the bottom up. I kind of confused the comments about you being able to shower with you loving Flashdance and created a mental image of you reenacting the famous "shower" scene in Flashdance .

Which reminds me - each of the dancer had a joking behind the scenes segment (ala Dancing with the Stars). Robert Webb's was how Flashdance is actual the story of a woman who is forced to turn dancing to fund her welding.

I received an email from a friend this morning and I HAD to share this.  At first I thought, "who the heck is Matt, and why do I want to watch him dance badly?!"  But I decided to click the link and watch the You Tube video.  I sat there, at first, wondering why the heck I was wasting my time with this, but as I sat there and watched, something came over me and I became glued to the screen.  By the end of the video I was smiling ear to ear and I felt GREAT!  It is such a simple thing, but it had such a positive effect.

Here is the link to the video itself... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWUrj22pRD0

And so you understand it all... this is WHAT/HOW/WHY... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ue1GZ4IUFiU&feature=related

Watch both links.  :grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin: :grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:

I have been so good at sticking to the diet but it was my husbands
birthday last night and we went to a famous polish restaurant...and I
stayed clear of the bread and the tapanade but had a hard time with
the yummy cream sauce  that came on my salmon not to mention garlic
mashed potatoes........

Web.....I have seen that matt dancing tape many times in the past year and
think its a real inspiration to world peace......we should all dance!

Web, I watched the video, and teared up...ok, a totally dumb video, and I'm starting to cry! It's gotta be the hormones.....sheesh! I think that may explain the need to watch Steel Magnolias and Fried Green Tomatos today! Snord mentioned she needs to get out of the 180's, and I'm trying to get in!!! I was excited when I told my father in law I was 5 pounds away from 50 pounds lost...he said when I hit 50, he'd buy me the sunglasses I've been wanting! Of course, I am up, and it's more like 8 pounds now....but it's incentive to stay on track this next cycle....I thought I was doing pretty good, and am not quite sure what I did wrong to gain 5+ pounds in the middle of the cycle....Oh well....Keep on going...I know I keep saying that....but come on, really.....it's gotta happen! I've been totally enjoying myself too, today...just so I could relax....I'm trying soooo hard!!!

Zeva- Hang in there, you have done great!! You have lost so much weight. I am trying to get out of the 180's....but I am only 5'0" tall so 180 on me is more like 200 or more on someone that is taller than a grasshopper. LOL. I weigh today what I ended my 1st cycle at...and I am on cycle 4. That is just crazy. I lost 8.5 pounds after 11 days and have just went up and down since.

Snord, I'm 5'8" and almost feel happy with my weight...I know I'll never be a size 4, but if I could just buy clothes in a regular store I would be soooooo happy! I am there....sorta. If I can be in a 14 for everything I buy, in any store.....an 11/12??? Oh that would be awsome!!!! I think being 32, "I'm too young to young to be old, and too old to be young" I forget where I am in life and that scares me sometimes! I'm not a teenager, and dont need to be anymore. We are wives, mothers, sisters, friends, nieces, daughters......those are all things of honor....be the best we can be, at any age! You will reach your goal...and I will too. I just need to get out of this funk.....I think maybe a Snow Roll will help! Hehehehe.....oh how I love Sushi! Sorry, wandered off there for a sec! We can do it!!!! Hang in there!!

I love sushi too....especially with that shrimp sauce they serve with it. YUM!! See, you are much taller than me which means you are thinner than me. It is weird that I said that about the 180's because I got on the scale and I was 179.2 this morning. I have been in a funk too lately. I am hoping that the scale will keep moving since I am just barely out of the 180's now. I had a birthday party to go to today at Chuck E Cheeses...I didn't have pizza or cake. I had garden salad and ham combo on the menu today so I had that. It probably wasn't 100% on plan since I added light ranch. No sure if we are supposed to have the creamy dressings...but it was light.

Snord....good job at Chuck E Cheese! I do have to say, you weren't missing much with the worst pizza on the planet...the cake...well, that would have gotten me. Lo-cal dressing is whats in the rules...I think you did fine under the circumstances. Well done!!! And get out of that FUNK!!! That goes for me too!!

Snordstrom   You did really well. And it is true i was at a hundred Chuckee E Cheese birthday parties when my kids were little, really bad pizza. See you weren't missing anything and stuck to the plan. Good for you!!!! And i third that sushi, that is the one thing I crave the most now on cheat weekend. I have a sauce called sweet miso sauce it is so good, try it sometime you too Zeva. Can't wait til next weekend for sushi (at least I'm not craving cake and candy).

xoxo

When I went out for sushi this last time, I ordered a HOT roll...it is spicy tuna, cream cheese, avacado, and jalapeno.....and then fried! Talk about heaven in every bite! I also got what was called a snow roll, which had an onion/ cream cheese mix inside and was wrapped with halibut....it melted in my mouth! I have been pretty boring with my usual choices up until now.....now it's a whole new ball game!!!

Thanks for your follow up with my BC question Bailey. I will keep the meals very small to start, and see how that goes...I'd rather eat too little, than too much, and adjust from there! Have a good night!!!

Hugs~Zeva

I am a chicken when it comes to the sushi. I pretty much stick with the Philly Roll. The shrimp sauce I like is orange...don't know if that is the same as what you are referring to Bailey. I like mixed in my sticky rice too. :)

I am a seasoned sushi lover....I  don't go for rolls
except hamachi maki(salmon) maguro(tuna)....real sushi is
to be eaten in its raw form(ordering sashimi is somewhat sticking to the diet.....however that hot roll that Zeva was
discribing sounded yummy!  Here in LA on the westside we
are fortunate to have a large Japanese community so our
suschi bars are outstanding....Noshi Sushi(Beverly and Western)
and Hide(pronounced He da) are the most authenic and so crowded you have to wait 40 or 50 minites to be seated.  People
here get very loyal to their sushi bar.....since I have been on this
diet I have really missed going to raman houses and all those
wonderful soups with noodles.........rice, noodles, pasta, potatoes, bagels, baggettes,TEMPURA(yum)  .....adios

Zeva...Hide Sushi...2040 Sawtelle...LA 90025 310 477-7242
closed Monday......I have been going there for 20 + yrs and
the owner was the student once of Mr Noshi(Noshi Sushi)
The pieces are gigantic....they only except cash.

I am very particular about this because if a place isn't the best
quality the fish could be a day old and it has to be eaten the
same day that they buy it from the docks.....Both these places
are very authentic and meticulous.  Apparently Gardena is another
big Japanese Community...

If you go to Hide....check out the Japanese Grocery Store next door.

Waaaaa! :crying: I am normally not a baby at all... I usually put my "big girl panties on" and suck it up.  But I have been having a difficult time the last couple days.  They told me that the first time you get your TOM after this surgery, it would hurt, and I got mine Sunday... oh boy! They weren't kidding.  Only 10 days after the surgery, just when things were beginning to mellow out, and I get my TOM. My breasts are swollen like there is no tomorrow, and they hurt non stop.  I think that is what is bugging me so badly.. they have been hurting so long, that I am worn out. I just had to complain to someone. Sorry!   I gotta keep in mind that this is all worth it in the end!

Speaking of sushi... my sister got me hooked on it years ago, and her and I used to go to a little sushi place in Santa Monica all the time.  I don't even remember the name... I will have to ask her.  This was back in the early 90's.  I got so bad a few years ago that we were going a couple times a week.  I always open with the seaweed salad and had them add strips of squid.  Then I would have a spicy scallop handroll, followed by some sashimi, and then my roll of choice, usually unagi (eel).  I have to say unagi is my absolute favorite.  A few years ago I got freaked out about parasites so I quit eating raw fish.  At least I still get my unagi.  And miso yaki is one of my fav fish meals at Japanese restaurants.  I am lucky to live not far from Japantown in San Jose, so I have close easy access to some really good restaurants.  And I love to shop at the Japanese grocery store.  That is where I buy my sake.  I love the unfiltered sake, but you have to get a decent one to drink cold.  Otherwise, I like hot sake.  There is something special to me about going to a nice, cozy sushi place, and just relax, sipping on miso soup, eating, and drinking hot sake on a cold rainy night.  I just love it!

Web, I feel so bad for you my friend! Maybe a couple bags of frozen peas??? Have some tea, and try to relax if you can....I hope you're up and back to yourself soon.

Oh, enough sushi talk.....although I'm not hungry after just eating...a HOT roll, would just be delish! Shhhhh, almost through day one on BC!
