I am so glad to see some posts...sometimes it seems like this forum is very quiet!

I am on Day 3 of the new diet.  So far, it's going OK.  I didn't weigh myself before starting this cycle, because I went so crazy at the end of the last one that I thought it would just be depressing.

I weighed myself this morning, and I am unfortunately up 1+ lbs from before I started the first cycle (of the old diet).  This is FL4I's last chance for me; if I end up going crazy again, or don't lose weight, I'll know that, for whatever reason, this is not the WOE for me.

How many cycles have you done?  When I first started (last November) I lost a chunk of weight and then things started to even out.  Bottom line, the scale was going in the right direction so, even though the weight wasn't melting off, it was still coming off.  Here I am almost a year later and although I've put a few of the 27 lbs. I've lost back on again, this plan seemed to revive my metabolism which gives me hope to lose the weight that I re-gained and lose more on top of that!

Hi Shamrock and Frankie,

I have to agree with Shamrock: this seems to work for me IF I STICK WITH IT!! I haven't dieted for about 3 weeks and now am on Day 4. Things are going great. Frankie, I too didn't weigh in before because I didn't want to be depressed about numbers. I'm still less than my original weight when I discovered this diet in March 2006. I'll weigh in at the end of this cycle and report in!

My hardest time is from Day 7-11. Aargh.

The weather is changing here in the Midwest today. It is going to freeze tonight...much work to get done before sundown!:horse::cow::dog::apple:

hang in there everyone!!!

Hi Cowgirl and Shamrock,

This is only my 2nd cycle.  I was doing ok on the first one; lost about 4 lbs. But then, on the 10th day, I just lost control and totally pigged out. So I started my 3 cheat days early, then started another cycle.  During the cheat/binge days, I seem to have gained back almost 5 lbs, possibly more, since I didn't weigh myself until after 2 days on this new cycle.

I had problems on the first cycle because I felt hungry all the time, plus I'm sure I ate too many nuts and didn't drink enough water.  So this time, I didn't select nuts and I'm trying harder to drink the water (I just don't enjoy drinking water, plus I'm always afraid I'll get stuck in the car with nowhere to pee!).  I thought the old version might work better for me because there's more portion control.  For example, if you make and eat a sandwich, that's it! You can't just keep on eating the sandwich.  My first cycle, I'd just keep on eating lunchmeat.  Also the bread in the sandwiches seems to help me not feel so hungry.

I am not totally sure I'm even going to finish this whole cycle.  I feel I've been sticking fairly stringently to the diet, so if after another day or so, the scale isn't budging, I'll try something else.  I REALLY want to lose weight and I feel motivated, but I just need to find something I can live with.  Too much deprivation is not going to work for me.

Keep me posted on your progress!

Hey Cowgirl!  Nice to hear from you!

Frankie, don't get discouraged.  First, it's not likely like you gained 5lbs. of "real" weight -- maybe you had a lot of salt and are retaining water or something like that.   That type of weight usually comes off quickly. Secondly, I find that the weight comes off in 3 or 4 day chunks.  For example, I started Day 1 today, but even if I stick diligently to the plan, I probably won't see the scale move for about 4-5 days.  A big part of this plan is drinking the water -- if you don't like plain water, add lemon or that Crystal Light stuff they've been advertising lately.  Are you walking?  Last but not least, if you don't have that much weight to lose, it probably will come off slower but that's okay, the key is to keep the momentum going in the right direction!

You shouldn't feel that hungry while on this plan.  Maybe you have to up your portions a bit.  I like the "old" plan better than the new one and on the old plan there are certain things you can have at every meal -- like salsa.  What is salsa but tomatoes, onions and peppers.  The way I look at it, if the plan says for me to have "chicken" I'll have it with a salad or veggies  -- that way it's more of a "complete" meal and fills me up.

Also, something I keep on hand which helps me stay on track is sugar-free jello.  If you have a bowl of that with a dollop of cool whip, it really takes the edge off and makes you feel like you're cheating even though the jello and whipped cream combined is only about 30 calories!

This morning, the morning of Day 4, I was down 1 lb.  I drank plenty of water yesterday.  I am having better success with the new diet (in terms of not feeling hungry); the only day I'm worried about is the fruit and veggie day.  I found that to be extremely difficult for the last cycle.  However, last time, I had only raw veggies; this time, I'll have them only cooked, which I think is more satisfying.

Thanks for your suggestions, Cowgirl.

I'm on Day 6 and have done well except for Saturday night, I had a steak and cheese sub with fries.....long story!  Anyway, got "right back on the horse" Sunday morning.  Today is fruit and veggie day (I actually like this day) and so far, so good....

Hi Shamrock

Guessing there might be some Irish connection there!!

I'm on day 3 now and still not feeling like a mad binge - the fruit day was tough as I had my sandwich in the middle of the day and had to eat a big bowl of fruit when the family were eating 'proper' food last night.

Drinking the water is not a problem for me as I don't really like tea or coffee and tend to drink all through the day anyway. The exercise is a bit more of a chore - will really have to discipline myself. Barry (on a different thread) says you need to be disciplined and of course that is something we all know. All diets work if you really stick rigidly to the plan but the loss can be painstakingly slow - that's when I tend to give up and binge eat. How come it can take 3 weeks to lose 4lbs on a calorie controlled diet and one night of sweets/chocs/pringles to put them all on again? It is soul destroying.

I am hoping this WLP will show results much quicker which I hope, in turn, will keep me motivated and determined to succeed. I have around 70lb to lose and would love to have this off by next spring - I know it won't be easy but I have a huge roll of fat around my middle that is so unhealthy and I think that my health is now starting to concern me - not just my non-existent figure.

I find this board very therapeutic - knowing there are others out there trying the same program and facing the same problems, obstacles etc is helpful. I work online most of the day and keep checking in for posts from time to time - I wish there were more current posts, even if it is just someone waffling on (like me!)

Will post again soon.

Hi Flutterby (your name reminds me of people saying fam damily!)

I hope you have success on this plan.  I started about a year ago (last November) when I thought I had about 30lbs to lose (now I think it's more like 35-40).  Between November and April I lost 27lbs (lost a lot the first cycle, a little less the next cycle, etc. -- which is to be expected) and with really "enjoying" the holidays midway.  Anyway, I lost my mojo somewhere in there and strayed....I had an upper weight in my mind which I swore I would never go over.  Well, I got to that weight and started back on this plan again last week.  Today I'm on day 8 and have done pretty well with the plan, have been drinking the water, but haven't been great in the exercise department.  I'll weigh myself over the weekend and see the results.  I only gained about 6 lbs. but I want to get that plus some off before this holiday season kicks in.

I'll keep you posted on my results.

well lost 5 pounds in the first two days and nothing since.  I find I need to excercise for at least 1 - 2 hours a day to lose.  Oh for the days when I could lose weight so quickly.

Allergy question

Hello all. I'm new and have been reading one of your Fat Loss 4 Dummies threads. I have some concerns about the food items that I've been seeing throughout the posts. I am allergic to poultry, eggs and most fish. Is this diet doable with those restrictions? I get protine from dairy, beans, pork and beef mostly. I was going to purchase this diet, but I don't want to spend thirty dollars only to download an egg and poultry menu.

If anyone has any information about this menu could you please let me know whether or not it is doable for me?

Thanks!

Regardless - Hello and welcome!  These are my thoughts... You can pick only the items that are dairy, like milk, cheese, cottage cheese, frozen yogurt and then you could have roast beef, bacon, sausage (beef or pork), pastrami, ham, nuts, beans, fruits and veggies and that should give you some decent choices for menus.  You won't have as much variety, maybe, but it is still worth it.  If you come to the general discussion forum you can get some more ideas for your meals.  Please check your PM also.  Btw, I used to live in Golden Colorado (twice, actually).  I love it there.

Thanks Webfairy. This is good. I think I'm going to give it a go. (Thanks for the PM... good idea ) It sounds like a lot of people are having success, maybe I'll be one of them.

I used to live in California myself! (Southern) In-N-Out burger... Mmmm

Hello,

I am planing on going on this diet as i see lots of people taking it up with great results. Still, i am a little skeptical about paying for this until i can be totally certain i can commit to it. see, the problem is that i have an reflux esophagitis and gastritis and most diets i tried i had to stop after a couple of days due to stomach pain and acid. So, before i spend money on this diet i want to know if this is something i can actually stick to.

First off i would like to ask if anybody with stomach and acid problems tried this? Is there any way i could go through the fruit and vegetable days with my problems?

Second of all, somebody that already has access to the diet plan generator, do you think you could help me with a sample of a week's or so plan, so i can try and see if i can take it?

Please, if anybody can help me with this i would be really grateful since i have at least 15 pounds to lose until my wedding day and i can't seem to succeed no matter what!

MeC...come over to the fl4i discussion....that is where we talk about these issues...and yes, many have overcome reflux after a few cycles on this plan and have been able to go off their meds.  Overeating, overfilling the stomach and fried/fatty eating are big contributors to starting a vicious reflux cycle that then occurs at most meals....this way of eating can help the body heal.  It may take afew cycles to get there, but many are very happy with the reduction  or end of  reflux problems. Most reflux suffers are very skeptical and afraid but they have been happy with this plan.
The diet allows you to choose your proteins and carbs(fruits, veggies, oatmeal, beans, frozen yogurt and smoothies) so you can start with things that you handle well...for protein there is cheese, eggs, milk, beef, turkey, chicken, ham, bacon, sausage and fish(and vegetarian protein choices as well).
Also some have tried using organic apple cider vinegar in water to help reflux...so ask about that too.

I know about the fried and fat stuff, and indeed i avoid them as possible. But my
concern is more about fresh fruits and vegetables that i do not seem to tolerate well.

Anyway, I thought since this thread deals with health issues this is where i was supposed to post. Thank you, sunshine, for the heads up. I will post in the general discussion topic.

Hi there,

I would like to know if I can continue with this diet while being pregnant. I want to keep my weight and not gain too much (as I normally do...).

Let me know your thoughts please.

Hi Esther.  This really is a question for your obstetrician.  We don't know your health history or anything, and when you have a child growing inside you, there are needs that must be met that this diet may fall short on.  Please ask your doctor first and see what he/she thinks.  That is really the best advice I can give.  Congratulations on your pregnancy!
