Hi Dina

I lost 25lb  on this plan, but the biggest change for me was----I HAVE KEPT IT OFF:dizzy:-YEY!

I was the worlds best Yo Yo dietor, until I started the FL4I plan. I follow the download menus as my maintenance, but now add a little salad or veg to the meals, and even 1 potatoe once in a while. This works for me because I do not have to really think about it( the maintenance plan looks great but involves- to me- a lot of planning, and I dont want to spend my mental energy doing that.)

I have downloaded 12 menus to date, with totally different choices on them, mainly to suit my moods on food.- This is my life line.

Wishing you all the luck in the world with this plan, stick with it, and you should see great results.:sun::sun:

Do the food choices change up then? I have downloaded two menus and they are very similiar because the foods I had to chose from were the same. Thanks so much, congrats on your loss and most importantly, keeping it off! I am a yo-yo'er as well so I am looking forward to a long-term loss and a new way of eating and learning to eat properly.

Warmly,

Dina

Hi

No, sadly the food choices do not change. You just have to vary what you choose yourself.

I sometimes leave out nuts or eggs. Fish is also something I have to 'fancy' to eat, so I only have one menu with fish on it.

I think the most change for me has been I now eat much smaller portions, even though it is 4 times a day.

I am sure you will have amazing success.

:yum:  Hi, I just started this fat loss 4 idiots diet. I will go shopping today for the food. I cant wait to start. I have about 40 lbs to lost. There is one person that told me, "Is there any diet that you havent tried?" It will blast them when I lose the weight.  What happened to a little faith?  I will do it! The forum readings really help! Thanks, Elisabeth

Good luck Elisabeth!  I've been losing a steady 5lbs. every cycle (including the 1 or 2 lbs. you gain back during the three off days) for 4 cycles now.   That's 20lbs. in 2 months for those of you too lazy to do the math  It's been great!  I've gone from 207lbs. to 187lbs. and this 4th cycle isn't even done yet!

One small recommendation I would make that it took my wife and me a few cycles to figure out is to buy your food one week at a time.  The types of food vary so much from one day to the next, we found that we were wasting food by buying it all at the beginning of the diet.

Stick with it!

Hi Elisabeth,
I'm fairly new too, just one week in. Good tip on the shopping foxpaw. I've got nectarines going bad on my counter because I bought too many  I hope you post often with your thoughts and results because there aren't too many posting anymore and it will be nice to have some one to hang out with.

Hi Zil and Welcome! Congrats on such a great beginning. I haven't had the major weight loss as advertised but am still happy. I like the no-brainer aspect on what to fix for meals. Keep up the good work and come back often.

Hello everyone,
I am new to FatLoss 4 idiots and was at that point when I was fed up with my appearance and had to lose some weight, so I decided to give it a go! Today is my 9th day already and I so far I've lost 4-5 pounds (I went from 168 to 163/164). Doesn't seem like I will lose all 9 pounds in 11 days. I am a bit disappointed, but thinking that maybe it's due to my lack of exercise and inconsistent eating schedule. I tried my best, but sometimes ate only 3 meals or substituted one food for another; I never ate anything exceptionally wrong though. But, after all I did lose weight and I'm hoping to get better results next cycle! That is if I don't go crazy during the 3 days and start inhaling sugary food :))) This forum has been really informative and supportive, so thank you!

I am just getting the hang of this but I figure support is good!!!

I have been on so many weight loss programs my body is worn out.:dizzy:

I bet my metabolizm is null.  I started nursing school in August and have just kept growing:shock:   I am 5 ft 4 and 200lbs.  I would like to lose 50lbs but any weightloss right now would be encouraging.  I am on day 1.  I went shopping for my remaining 10days.

My husband thinks I am crazy to do this during the holidays but I love a challenge:chewing:

Wish me luck

Well that is pretty brave of you but as I was saying to my husband, this morning talking about his Mums birthday dinner tonight. I must stick to plan! There´s always something happening to take us off track! hence I never get to where I want to be so this time round I must say NO.  ( of course its easier when you are going round to a family dinner, bit harder in a restaurant).

Just a little recomendation. Someone recomended a while back, not to do all your shopping in one go and I´d go along with that. ( I have thown so much food away recently its sinfull and I feel really bad about it)

I'm almost convinced that Fat Loss 4 Idiots might work for me.  Being a green personality type I just have to analyze it a little more before committing to the diet.

I've been unsuccessful at losing the weight I've gained since I quit smoking almost 3 years ago on January 2, 2005.  I haven't worked that hard but feel that 2008 is going to be my year for success in many areas of my life.

I'm here now to say hello, find some support, and hopefully meet some new friends with the same goals.

Best wishes for a healthy & happy new year!

Hi Carla :sun:
I'm glad you stopped by to check us out. I hope you read all of the old posts including tips from everyone. This forum is what really convinced me to begin. The forum isn't as 'hopping' as it was but new people are joining and they are all still as helpful here.

To be honest I have not had the dramatic weight loss that the program talks about, but I have read that many have, so I know it can be done. I just like the plan, no calorie counting, food weighing or fat grams to count. I have lost 10 lbs to date and my husband has lost 14. I am going to be on/off the plan until the first of the year and then back on strong.

I believe that 'wanting' a plan to work is half the battle and it sounds like you are really ready to go. Let us know when you start and we'll be here to help you along.

Hi Denise,

Thanks for the post and welcome!  I did spend time reading the old posts and tips today; one of the biggest factors drawing me to this method.  The other being that much of the information contained in the Fat Loss 4 Idiots is very similiar to what I learned from my personal trainer last year.  As I said, I just haven't applied it like I should.

Like you, I will be starting strong the 1st of the year.  Yes, as a resolution and they do work for me when I commit as I did when I quit smoking.  Last year when I went to the personal trainer I had not committed, but now I'm ready!

Look forward to what lies ahead and sharing the success with you!

Hello everyone,

Just started day 1 of the FL4I program and Im quite anxious. I dont plan on weighing myself until I head to the doctor on 2/3. Would love to get some advice from others on the diet program. Would love to hear feedback on how long it really took to see a physical difference and if its okay to take multivitamins while on the program.

Thanks:wink:,

Hi SexyMe and Welcome! Don't be anxious, this can work for you. If you haven't read all of the helpful posts on the 'general discussion' go take a look. that's where we mostly hang out and everyone is very helpful. I think taking a multivitamin is a good idea. You should be able to see a difference within the first cycle, or at least feel a difference. Why wait until the 2nd of Feb. to weigh yourself? Do it after your first cycle and I think you will be pleased. Nice to  have you aboard.

Hi all, i'm new to this forum and the diet. I'm also a mother of two (one is 2 and the other is 8). I went up 10 pounds with each pregnancy and there was a pregnancy between these two in which i went up another 10 lbs. So, that leaves me 40 years old and 30 lbs over my pre-children weight. I'm under 5 feet and so this sits quite heavily on my frame.

My husband is also perennially fit. It is not uncommon for him to complain about putting on 4-5 pounds after a holiday or vacation, but he can adjust his eating for a week and "poof" its gone again. He's supportive of me, but doesn't really get how hard it is.

I just started the FL4I program today and have to say i've been a bit hungry much of the day. I'm not to used to eating just protein, i've always done Weight Watchers and had more control over my choices. But, like some of you all, I'm eager to jump start my metabolism as I feel it has really slowed down as I have gotten older.

I'm quite dreading the fruit day. Any advice?

Hi

I'm a newish member too, do u mind if i join ur group too (i know ther's quite alot of u already). I'm on the 2nd cycle (day 3). I barely lost anything on my 1st 11 day cycle. i think this may be cos i've only got about 4 kg to lose (hope so anyway..cos i more or less followed the diet, although did cheat by eating other veg in salad i.e. mushroom and carrots). I also started on monday, so could have cheat days at weekend. Felt really disheartened at weekend cos if anything put on the few pounds i lost last week!

I haven't weighed myself again, perhaps tom (day 4). this time I've tried to be stricter and follow plan more tightly although sill confused over some things e.g. what veg can u have when it says mixed veg etc any ideas?

Hi nina,

I jumped into this forum because I thought it was active, but the dates I was reading activity were from this time last year!

Anyway, I'm only on day two of my first cycle so don't have any advice yet. Though I'm happy to chat with you about our progress. Have you been doing the walking?

Hi

Just realised the same when i looked through now at the dates! so confusing:smile:

I have been walking a bit more, but i go to the gym regularly so i don't know if this is going to affect the weight loss cos it says moderate exercise and I;m not sure if weights and cardio is okay?

How u getting on so far, I'm finding i'm not actaully hungry but it's more  a case of craving foods that i never thought i would like yogurt for example! i also find it starange eating two bits of food only like chicken and cheese without anything else really. Oh well looking forward to my smoothie tomorrow morning!

Yeah, the whole philosophy is very different from what i have usually tried for weight loss. I am pretty active and usually jog for 45-50 minutes a day or cycle about 20 miles. I used to do weights twice a week as well (with a trainer for the last five years), but I'm working from home for the year and the gym is too far now! I have a stationery bike and a treadmill at home that I use in bad weather (like today).

I decided to try the whole program as is, at least for one full cycle and see if makes any difference. That means I have been walking on my treadmill twice a day for thirty minutes. My heart rate does goes up and I end up sweating, but it doesn't feel like as much of a workout as jogging or cycling does. But their argument is that this is what we need to be doing to burn fat which is what I'm trying to shed, so I'll keep you posted! Getting sweaty twice a day instead of once is a pain, as well as trying to fit it into my schedule, but so far so good (of course it has only been three days!)

As far as how I'm getting along, yesterday was my fruit day and I was surprised that i wasn't hungry! Although, I have to say I enjoyed my sandwich. I know its not good to weigh everyday, but its a habit so I know I've shed a couple pounds. Can't wait to get to the end of the cycle and see how I do. Just have to keep focused.

Keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hi there everyone,

I just signed onto this sight last night and Peter told me I will need to go to another place if I want to get more information.  I knew I would do something wrong as I have never been on anything like this - including the diet!!  I am on my 4th day and that very dreaded fruit day that the oldies talk about was not too bad for me.  I got through the day without too much negative.  At any rate, I just wanted to say hello and hope to learn names and such - just another challenge, right?  Have a wonderful day...talk soon.

There are just a couple of us on this thread right now and I think we are all fairly new to the program. I'm on day three right now, so yesterday was my fruit day and it wasn't too bad, i was surprised! Nina is also on this thread and she said this is her second cycle.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Thanks for the welcome tiamat.  I have to agree with Nina, it's very strange to eat just one thing because most often the 2 items that are listed do NOT go together at all.  Like fish and beef for instance!  What are they thinking!  I guess being you can eat as much as you want without reaching "full/stuffed" is the key.  I know this takes some big changes for me, but in the long run if it works it will be worth the journey.  I have friends that are doing Weight Watchers and doing well - that one never worked for me.  It took me weeks to lose 2-3 lbs but as of day 4 (today) I'm down 5.  I was shocked and reweighed 2x's more just to be sure I was reading it right! LOL

Well, here's to us all - lets raise our glasses (of water) high and give three cheers!!!:grin::grin:

Hi Taximom4two!

I'm also new at this, I'm on day 3.  I like you am looking to lose 20-30 pounds.  I find it amazing the success that everyone has on this diet and how easy it is to follow.  However, I have to admit that yesterday on the fruit day I was really ready for that sandwich that night!!!

I was wondering if you'd be interested in buddying  up.  I could use a buddy.  In reading about you I thought we had some similarities.  I'm a mom---not quite a taxi mom yet, as I have a three year old son.

Please let me know if you are interested.  If you are not no biggie, I completely respect that!

Have a great day!

Hello

I found the first week v. difficult in terms of spacing my meals. I now eat at about 9 or just before, 12.30 to 1.00 ish for lunch then abou 4.30 and 7.30 to 8 for evening meal. this does vary however. I find the mornings difficult as i tend to go to the gym i the morning so would mean eating breakfast at 6.30, which seems far too early for spacing meals. I now eat after my gym session instead. i find tht i'm not that hungry 1st thing aftr i've drank all that water!

Don't know how useful that was, I suppose its all trial and error!

Good evening Nina,

I've had a good day so far and I know it's because I have lost some of that dreadful craving for sweets!  I am a carb freak and it was really hard the first few days, but now on day 5 tomorrow, it has gotten very much easier.

Exercise has not been a fav, but I'm going to try to start working it in before long as I know it will help for sure.  I'm just plain old lazy! LOL  I have a beautiful treadmill just collecting dust, but I'm going to put myself in gear and go for it - maybe this weekend.  One thing for sure I won't be walking outdoors...it's going to be below zero over this weekend and I'm going to stay cozy in the house!

We'll be talking again soon!

Hi Braxy, welcome to this thread. I restarted it a couple of days ago because I thought it was active, but it turned out the posts i was reading were from LAST January! Right now, it seems to be you, me, DeeDee and Nina chatting here.

I'm also on day three and new to the program. I have two kids (girls, age 2 and 8), I live in NC, and I'm trying to lose 25-30 pounds.

Nina - thanks for your note about meal spacing. That is pretty close to what I have been doing, its just that my last meal ends up being not at the same time my family is eating which makes it a little complicated. You're right, it does seem to be a lot of trial and error!

DeeDee - good luck getting back on your treadmill! Every little bit helps!

Hi Tia

With your meal spacing, have you thought of setting the time your family eat their meal to be your last one, then work your times backwards from there.

The rules say you should leave 2.5 hours between meals-- so if you have 2 meals within 2.5/3 hours of each other earlier on, so you then fit with your family- that should work too.

Hi - Everyone.

In regards to the eggs - I usually have one whole egg and then 4-5 egg whites.  I'm also allowed turkey with this, so I drop 3 slices of turkey in it so it ends up being quite a bit to eat but not a lot of calories---something like 200 cal.

I'm just starting day four and I have to admit I weighed myself---I'm down three pounds...that is just unreal.  I have followed this exactly, so maybe that is what helped.

I also hated fruit day, does anyone have any suggestions?

The only think I'm craving and I'm craving it in a HUGE way is my morning coffee---I like it sweet with splenda and some cream---it was a real comfort in the morning.  Anyone else missing their coffee?

Hi All, I am new to this diet as well, i have read many posts and i am very EXCITED to get started.  i have done so many different plans in the past i am sure i can do well at it.  (i have to think positive!)  I am beginning this diet tomorrow.  Since i work in an office environment it is better for me to have this Day -2 fruit diet at home.  Anyone have any advise.....

Hi Everyone. If you're looking for a little more chatter, jump on over to the general discussion board of FL4I. There are a lot of newbies as well as oldies. I'm kind of an old newbie, ha. Everyone is very helpful and fun. See you there!

Hi everyone. Wow! This is the first chat situation I have EVER done! I have just started the diet and am curious about a couple of things so it would be great if you can help. Can we use flash frozen fruit if the fruit is out of season? Does freezing change the dynamic of the...say...the strawberry? Also, my daughter has started this with me but only has 7 pounds to lose. She is really active, track, aerobics, etc. Is that activity level OK? The web site almost discouraged it.  Thanks again for all the info and support I see here. Terrific!:horse:

Sandi...yes..sometimes we eat frozen when we need to but don't eat only frozen..try to get in some fresh fruits especially on fruit day.  Slow excercise burns body fat while very strenuous excercise burns the carbs you eat that day and bloodsugar.  Some do not excercise at all and still lose.  If she follows the diet she should be ok...but track isn't everyday so she could also walk some.  Be sure to go to FL4I discussion part 2 and read some old post for lots of tips and then go to the end and post any questions you have...you'll get alot more responses there.   BTW there is another High school girl on the diet posting there.  Best wishes for a great diet cycle.

Hi everyone:

My friend and I are on day 6 of cycle one of FL4I (I guess you'd call it the "new" menu.)  We'd been doing WeightWatchers with little success.  A group of us (six in all) decided to hold our own WW meetings at our friend's house next door, for a more "personal" touch.  My friend and I stumbled across FL4I seven days ago and got right on it.  Last night was weigh-in night next door.  Instead of my usual .2 or .4 of a lb. loss, I was the "biggest loser" with a 6 lb. loss!  And I haven't been able to work out recently due to my taking a bad fall 2 weeks ago.  My friend lost 4 lbs.  You should have seen everyone poring over the FL4I rules I'd brought over!!

I am so glad to have stumbled across this diet!!  It's absolutely "idiot" proof, and I'm never hungry.  Who'd have ever thought that it would be so easy to lose weight?

Well done thats brilliant.

I started FLFI on Tuesday so I am on day five and I have lost five pounds so I'm really pleased. I definatley think its a diet I can cope with.

Next cycle though I'm going to be a bit smarter about my food choices as I found alot of them repeated day after day and I need to find some better way of cooking my meals so it doesn't get boring.

I was on WW too and found that I wasn't getting very good results so I'm hoping this diet is the answer.

Hi Alleyne,
I guess you got your generator to work  If you haven't already done so, jump on over to the general discussion. That's where most of us hang out and you will find so much support and help along the way.

There is nothing to afraid of and  EVERYTHING to be excited for.

Denise
