Hi Buttons
I split my meals frequently, but try to stick to the 2.5 hours rule- works for me, especially on 'hungry' days & fruit days
Also, eggs are eggs, if the menu says scambled, but you want to take them to work( say because they are more filling than nuts), then just boil them, and have them cold, ar whatever time you can eat.-- I have mine with my home made salsa( allowed accompanyment) so they dont taste a little dry.

Yeah - I've noticed on a few of the diets I've generated, one meal will be scrambled eggs and hard-boiled eggs. Or two different kinds of nuts, or something silly like that. It's weird how the diet generator doesn't seem to know what foods are what....this morning, I had macadamia nuts and milk for breakfast.

Good idea Jules, do you have a recipe for the salsa was not sure what to add and not add.
TeeniBikini-your breakfast sounded delicious, almost as good as my cheese slices and strawberries, lol.

HI Buttons
Its a Jamie oliver recipe that I picked up on, basically-
using a long cutting knife( I used my meat carver) and 6 large Vine tomatoes,6 spring onions, tablespoon of chopped fresh mint, loads of rough chopped corriander( celantro for the USA) one fresh lime and half fresh lemon.
On a large chopping board, dice toms quite small, chop onions( again as small as you want)add to the tomatoes, add mint and corriander on top of them ( all on the chopping board) them mix together with your knife and roughly chop through all the ingredients and then mix again.
put into a sealable container, squeeze the whole lime and half lemon over the top of the mix, stir, seal and put in the fridge for at least an hour before using.
Scoop out as much as you want with each meal.-- The above make me enough to last just under 1 week, I usually make a batch on a Sunday night to start my 11 days on the Monday.
Let me know what you think.

Hello,
Hi my name is Marissa Im on here because of course I am concerned about what to do on the Fat Loss 4 Idiots program. I am a student and I cant find the time to eat in between classes without being on scheduale with the meals and I really want to follow the diet to a tee. So i thought I could do the same thing vice versa at night by going to class in the daytime not eating anything and eating my meals at night on scheduale. My question is that is it okay to not eat in the daytime and do the diet in the nightime or will I fail if I do so?.... Also Im kind of confused on the diet Ive tried a day on the diet anf i noticed I was full of course and on the menu they tell you to eat untiol your "satisfied" But if your already full from the last meal how do yo eat to satisfy yourself again? What I didn was just eat something but not that much but I felt that was the wrong th9ing to do... SO PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER MY QUESTION BECAUSE I REALLY WNAT TO SUCCED ON THIS DIET... o yeah and success stories from you guys and what you did would be nice too....

First of all...Welcome Marissa!!
Let me encourage you to post on the discussion...lots more people there to help. The diet rules say wait "ATLEAST" 2 1/2 hours...it can be much longer. Do eat your first meal in the morning as it will raise your metabolism. It is not hard to carry meals....many here pack up all their meals the night before and then carry them in a insulated lunch carrier to work or classes. It is important to develop new eating habits while you lose weight...night eating is not the way to go....you can save one meal for at night. This diet takes away alot of the cravings and hunger so you may just have to just space your meals out well and eat them at a set time...your body will adjust. I eat mine on a schedule and do not wait for hunger and just stop when I'm satisfied...I have been successful doing this.
I hope this helps!
SS
Good lunch ideas:
deli meat and cheese rolled up with mustard...you can even roll in a lettuce leaf
deviled eggs made with mayo and mustard
cheese sticks
sausages rolled in a cheese slice
salad( for salad or mixed veggies)
coleslaw for veggies
tuna salad
stuffed tomato(with tuna)
chicken salad in a lettuce leaf
veggies and bean dip
pintos or ff refries in a lettuce leaf roll with salsa
use your menu and get creative

I think you need to get in touch with your hunger signals ....most people shouldn't go more than 4-5 hours between meals...but I think many here eat more often than that...when do you leave for your first class? Many of the ideas I gave you can be easily "scarfed down" between classes...so set up a schedule...I often use this format: 7- 8, 12, 5:30, 8....but it varies. some days I need a meal at 3:oo. Spacing meals out will keep the metabolism going and be sure to drink the water all day...NOT at one sitting. I don't know if I answered your question...hope so!

| Well this is what ive been doing for the past two days just to test it out I dont eat till about 10:45-50 on the mornings because im just too busy in the morning and I can NEVER get a break then I eat again at about 12:45-55 going on one oclock and then I eat again at about 3 going on 4 olcok and then again around 6.... I did it yesterday and found it successful and I tried the actual diet today and as of right now i just finished meal 3 at 4 oclock....Also I found mysle fnot hungry but not full and I just ate ehat I packed and I knew not to pack too much or too little and I guess I got lucky and felt pretty good all day... So am I doing the diet the right way? And if its about me being hungry those 4 hrs before I eat i really dont feel hunger because I guess im so busy....

Hi everyone,
my name is Dana and I am thinking about buying the FL4I. I heard great things about it but since I am a strict vegetarian I am a bit concerned whether it would be appropriate for me. I couldn't do Atkins because of the overwhelming amount of meat. Would you recommend this diet to a vegetarian?
Thanks,
Dana

Hi Dana - Once you purchase the plan you can choose the vegetarian option when you generate a new menu for each of your 11 day cycles. I would advise you to post in the General Discussion section of this forum. It is the most active and I think there are other vegetarians who use the plan who could answer any questions you might have.

Hello everybody...
... and especially hello to the UK people on this board
I'm not sure my questions belong to this specific group so my apologies if I should have used the 'General' one, but here is where I saw Jules' and buttons' posts and I thought I'd get more chance of a reply here
I joined FL4I last night and had a hard time trying to figure out the food items on the generator. Having lived in the UK for over 15 years, I thought I'd mastered the English language pretty well... until I met the diet generator! ;-)
I would be really grateful if someone could tell me if the following items are available in the UK and/or if they go under a different name:
Orange Roughy
Broiled Flounder
Macadamia Nuts
Pinto Beans
Molly McButter
Frozen Yogurt Dessert
Sausage Links (are they a special type of sausages?)
Fruit Salad Dessert (I mean, is this different from a plain 'Fruit salad'?)
Delicious Shrimp (as opposed to lousy-tasting shrimp? ;) Is this a brand or something?)
And how are 'Green and Red Vegetables' different from 'Mixed vegetables'?
Sorry for the deluge of questions of many thanks in advance!

Hi Francoise and welcome!
Orange Roughy is fish
Broiled Flounder flounder is fish, some have sub halibut for it
Macadamia Nuts, these are nuts from Hawaii
Pinto Beans, if you can't find them try kidney or small white beans
Molly McButter is a dry butter substitute that comes in a shaker container, you can usually find it in the spice aisle
Frozen Yogurt Dessert, you'll find it in the ice cream section taste just like ice cream
Sausage Links (are they a special type of sausages?) depends on who you ask! some use regular pork sausage, some kielbasa, some even bratwurst
Fruit Salad Dessert (I mean, is this different from a plain 'Fruit salad'?) basically NO but you only use the listed fruits, some sub the cool whip with other toppings,
Delicious Shrimp (as opposed to lousy-tasting shrimp? ;) Is this a brand or something?)I think it's just a play on words! Shrimp is Shrimp as long as it's not breaded
And how are 'Green and Red Vegetables' different from 'Mixed vegetables'? Good question!! I always just choose mixed vegetable, I think you have more flexibility, I mean really there aren't that many "red" veggies to choose from. Also when it says mixed vegetables lots of times I have a veg soup. I make a big batch for veggie day and then freeze leftover portions for another time.
Hope this helps......... keep asking questions that is what this board is for
Good luck, Val

Hi Kaosbeach!! I was just wondering if you have had any success with the diet? I was reading the first couple of pages but it goes on and on and on lol. I am on the new plan too and I was wondering if it worked for you, if you have had any problems, did you walk every day? I am on the 11 day regular diet not vegetarian and Im not just using the rules. Im using the duet generator. Do I still need to walk? Does it help to walk everyday? Also I did fine on Day 1 and Day 2 was hard it was nothing but fruit all day, so by day 3 I was eating a steak and a salad w/RANCH yesssss RANCH lol...so I havent done too good. I do want to loose this weight tho I was just wondering for EVERYONE on this diet. Have you ever cheated? Did you go back to the diet like that day didnt exist or do I need to start all over again? Please help!!

Hi Sunshine! I was just wondering about some of your lunch ideas??? What do you put in your tuna? This is how I would prefer to put it in. Tuna in water, boiled eggs-sliced, pickle, light mayo, and onions. Then when it says turkey slices and low fat milk? EWWW But I can eat either or right so If i want to drink milk til im satisfied or turkey til im satisfied this is okay?
Substitutions: Can I substitue proteins for other proteins on my list? Like instead of hard boiled eggs, cashews, and fresh strawberries. Can I have baked chicken, peanuts and a peach? Are cashews the same as peanuts? I like to eat peanuts but the cashews are not that good.
Cheat days: Do you still drink the 10 glasses of water? Do you still walk? Can I drink Alcohol??
Thanks. I am so confused. I just cheated yesterday and now I am picking it back up. (I don't know if I was suppose to, but I didnt know. Do I have to start back at day 1 or can I pick back up from day 3? Also I have heard about people walking with this diet but mine doesnt say that I HAVE to walk. Does it help to walk? Do you loose more weight??? What do I do!!!!

Wiley...I'll give you my two cents
The diet allows for lowfat mayo or mustard, lettuce and tomato. I personally add the lowfat mayo, onion or celery and sometimes diced dill pickle...sweet pickle is not ok....carbs and sugar. I put it in a lettuce leaf or two as a wrap. If you generate several menus you will find that tuna will be paired with egg...so add the egg.
The lowfat milk and turkey mean just that you can eat both...you don't have to combine them into a recipe...ewwww If you drink coffee...warm the milk and make a latte with turkey rolled up with mustard or mayo on it. You could even wrap it in a lettuce leaf(though this is not part of the plan...I don't find it hurts me) You could also make a cold milk and coffee and ice frappucino in the blender or just milk, vanilla sweetener and ice....get creative.
Some people do substitute BUT most don't do it until they have completed a strict cycle to see how well they lose following the plan to the letter...then you can see if the subs slow your losses. As far as the nuts...they are all about the same so I would just go ahead and sub the peanuts for the bad cashews. When you must sub...always sub like for like...nut for nut...protein for protein etc. But not all proteins and fruits and veggies are the same GI or calories....so it could change things.
We do drink the water and and eat smaller meals only until satisfied of all our favs on choice days.

Thanks Sunshine
That helps me alot. Umm so I havent followed a full cycle to the tee yet. Should I try that first then start changing around things. The way im going right now I would have to start all over alot. I cant stick to it. Im gonna buy some flaxseed oil that I heard about its suppose to help with cravings. I also want a b-12 vitamin to help with energy. We will see how this cycle goes.

MSW....the best way to get the appetite to behave is to cut out the carbs...so if you cheat...have some cheese, meat or nuts. Some people keep cheating with sugar and flour items and then feel hungry all the time. Just try to follow next cycle more closely...have hot tea, broth, coffee, lemonade or iced tea with sweetener between meals to help hold you and do drink all your water as it really makes a difference...split a meal into two if you need an extra meal or just have some fruit before bed...you will adjust....just hang in there....your body is in shock saying where did all that sugar and bread and pasta go??? but it will adjust once it knows you are serious and not giving in!LOL

Hello !!
I am from India and would like to know if I can substitue baked beans and pinto beans with anything other kind of beans. I am vegeterian and still thinking whether I should buy this diet. I am really motivated after reading all the discussion and support system on this forum.
Also can I use Indian style panner for cottage cheese ?
Thanks in advance.

Mogra, I don't know enough about your question to answer but I am sure that on general discussions, someone will have some helpful answer for you!
And Funny, also don't know about the substitution for cottage cheese, but as far as beans go, I think it is ok to sub some different beans like kidney instead of pintos.
Wish I had more answers for you both!

Hey Sunshine~
I just wanted to say thanks. I took your advice on not snacking on the carbs, when I feel the urge, I just eat fruit. It has helped. I am seeing changes slowly. Now about the tea before bed thing..I'm not a big hot tea person..so if i just have to eat i can continue to eat the fruit and I should be fine right? I will say that I feel better , I have alot more energy , I don't have any soda cravings , and the only "junk" food I AM craving is french fries . Getting out of the soda drinking habit is HUGE for me. I can't believe it. Now I will say that I have drank soda it wasn't diet tho its called coca cola zero it taste great!! I love it with cherry and it has 0 calories, 0 fat, and 0 sugar. So that is my new best friend. it's Sooo Yummy!
UPDATE: I have good news! So far I have lost 7 pounds !!!! Isn't that great!!!! I feel excellent, just the motivation I needed to get me through the my next days.

MsWiley...AWESOME GIRLFRIEND!!!!...that is a terrific loss!!! You are really doing great on this plan! Please DO measure yourself...very important....as some cycles you will lose inches more than scale pounds in this fat burning process! Also choose a too tight pair of jeans and a top to try on after each cycle ...it is fun to finally be able to zip and then find one day they are too big!! Yay!!
The plan says that if you are still hungry in the evenings....have fruit. If you sign up for frozen yogurt...it is nice to save that meal for evening.
Just keep going and drink that water...it really does help speed up the metabolism and helps wash all that melted fat residue out of the body!
Congrats to you!!

Mogra- Actually subbing soy chick/beef with plain silken tofu is much better as it is much better protein and less carb... I am veggie too and I regularly sub tofu and seitan/tempeh for any protein. I also find that if you use tofu and seitan/tempeh, you can also use non-veggie version of plan and just sub whatever meat/fish you get from plan with the tofu and seitan/tempeh (and sometimes grocery store soy burgers). I actually find non -veggie plans to have better options/combos and I think I am doing great on the plan!! So you might wanna try it !!
Good luck,

Hi Funnymoody:
I am veggie too and here's what I think...
I definitely sub baked beans with other beans as baked beans contain unnecessary sugar that I dont like. Pinto, kidney, black beans, mong beans all have pretty much same nutritional profile and dieters here sub one protein for another and one carb for another with successful results... so go ahead with beans subbing
Also, cottage cheese and paneer have the same nutritional profile if you make paneer with skim or 1% milk...and if you are located in india and can find soy paneer, which is same as tofu here in USA, you can also use that.
Hope this helps
Slim

Sunshine~ Hey girlie, I love your tips I will try them and I'll let you know what my finish weight was after my 11 day cycle!! I'm looking forward to my cheat days tho. I want pizza and alcohol they have been on my mind alot here lately. I know i will have to watch my intake, but I'm definetly gonna eat it!
What day are you on by the way and how many cycles have you tried?
I'm on day 7 of my first cycle and so far so good. I am very impressed. I have not been faithful to FL4I, and it is still treating me well. I love this diet! I thought of quitting, but I just think I need to change my food choices around so I have more meals instead of snacks lol..i find myself eating alot of peanuts and hard boiled eggs soo gross together. I just pick either or when I see them together now. Keep in touch!! Talk with you soon.

Hi SlimNeel,
thanks a lot. That helps :). Yes one day just out of curiosity I looked at nonveg menu generation. Yes it has lot more options and one of my favourit one is yogurt. I would rather like to have a cup of plain non-fat yogurt instead of milk.
Hoping to start my second cycle soon. I started it on this monday and on tuesday evening I had leave it half way. I dont know what went wrong I now have stomach flu :(
Once again thanks alot.

Chicken Salad vs. Tuna Salad
How many people choose chicken salad over tuna salad and what is the difference in calories?
Exercise
How many individuals on this diet actually exercise?
Alcohol
I know it says one glass of wine is fine each day, but what about 1/2 cup of rum (bacardi)? Every now and then on the diet?
Thanks for all you help.

Hi there...
My question is about the calorie restriction... I have been running under 1000 calories everyday...
I eat short of being full... I only eat one item... I never combine fruit with anything else because I have always been told that it ferments and causes gas... But I do love my banana shakes...
The shrimp has been AWESOME... I got the frozen HUGE shrimp from trader joes... 6 shrimp fill me up perfectly... That's 90 calories right there... So basically that's all I'm eating for that meal...
Same with turkey and eggs meal... a serving is 70 calories, I'll eat it with one whole egg... there's another 70 calories... I'll maybe add some more egg whites... That will be 50 calories for 1/2 cup... Total 190 calories for that meal...
You see... =\ I'm kinda confused...
Do you think the BC diet would be better for me???
I wonder... I know I have a tendency to gain if I loud up on nuts and bunches of fruit... the sugar! Plus when i eat sugar, it makes me want sweets =(
Please help!
Here is my calories for the last 5 days.
Tue ~Total cals: 888
Wed ~ Total cals: 516
Thu ~ Total cals: 659
Fri ~ Total cals: 872
Sat ~ Total cals: 1,258
I cheated today... My period is due and I broke down and had some Purely Decadent Frozen Yogart... And DID indulge in Sahale Gourmet Pecans... My fav!
Another question... Should I start all over again... Which I am TOTALLY fine with doing... Or should I continue on my day 6 tomorrow.
Not sure what I should do...
Please advise... I really appreciate any and all input ;)

Hi foxykat! Sorry this post is so late. Hopefully you did not start all over and kept on going on this cycle. I cannot advise you about the BC as I am only familiar with the DG, but one question I have for you is... why are you counting calories? You don't need to count calories on FL4I diet. What you should do is follow the diet and don't worry about counting calories. That is why it is called Fat Loss 4 Idiots, it doesn't require that much analyzing. The diet works. Give it a try for the first 11 days and see what your results are. I think you will be surprised.
I have read conflicting reports about the fruit and digestion. Some say it lays on top of the other food you eat and takes longer to digest. I have read other reports saying this is not true. Fruit is easily digested in about 30 minutes compared to hours and hours for meat, etc.
If you have any more questions, come on over to the General Discussion thread of FL4I where you will have a lot more people who can comment on your post. Hope to see you over there!
