I have just completed my 3rd cycle of fatloss for idiots and for the first time I'm left with concerns. Within the first 2 cycles I lost the promised 18 pounds, 10 the first cycle and 8 the next. I was absolutely ecstatic, and became a walking tape recorder for fat loss for idiots. People thought I was trying to sell it for commission! Upon completing my 3rd cycle, however,  I was only down another  3 pounds in the entire 11 days , and today- the morning after my first cheat day, the 3 pounds is back. I have not lost faith in fat loss for idiots but I can't figure out my pound a day weight loss has come to a screaching holt. I am following the rules and playing fair. Has my metabolisms just slowed down? Do I need to hit the treadmill harder? I started out being 40 pounds overweight and was hoping to solve the problem with this diet. I'm halfway there in 1 month and am still determined to meet my goal.  I was considering taking a week off and jumping back into the next cycle, but with 3 pounds gained over night, I am terrified that I'll gain much of the 18 pounds back. I need HELP! I need SUGGESTIONS. I need some one to restore my FAITH in this diet.

Maybe someone will come along and solve your problem in some FL4I-specific way.

My 0.02 is for you to read the Tutorial, and also use the RMR Calculator on this website to figure out your calorie needs, checking your intake isn't too much or too little. Obviously this means that you might need to record the amounts of food you are eating on FL4I and then figure out how many calories are consumed.

Please be aware that some FL4I followers believe that you shouldn't need to count calories (and that is great, so long as the diet is working for you).

Finally, believe it or not, losing 3 pounds in 11 days is great going, it works out as 2lb per week, great for someone who is only 22lb overweight. Maybe the issue is your cheat days, not your diet days

Cookiecontessa:

Your weight loss is amazing, and more than the average person has achieved on FL4I.

However, one thing I have learned about FL4I is that the weight loss tends to slow down the closer you are to your goal weight.  Secondly, it sounds as if you're spending time exercising, which i great and I highly recommend on any diet.  In addition to using the scale as your measuring tool, I would also suggest that you use a measuring tape.  My reason for suggesting this is that I, too, lost quite a few pounds using FL4I; however, I also lost quite a few inches.  I became very discourage when the weight didn't fall off as expected, but noticed my clothes were much loser than usual.

Also, consider posting any concerns you may have under "FL4I - Diet Concerns & Questions".  You'll get a much more timely response.

Also, the "FL4I - General Discussion" group is a very help group of people.  Someone is always there to assist.

I think you're weight loss is so amazing, please consider posting your success story under "FL4I - Success Stories" to help encourage others that are on the diet.

Hey, Carriebeth:

It's okay that you posted it here, but it would be much better to post it under "FL4I - Meet our Members".  And if you want, feel free to post a picture of yourself, as well.

Hi, all! I will be finishing my 11th day of my first cycle of FL4I tomorrow. I've been bad and weighed myself like every 2 days, which I know I shouldn't do! So far I've lost 7 pounds, which I'm pretty happy with. My goal is to lose 40 pounds and I know, realistically, that I can't expect to lose 7 pounds every 11 day cycle. I won't give my start weight (too embarrassed!), but it was under 195 pounds (BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I WAS IN THE 190s ). I state this weight because I know that the more weight you have to lose, the quicker it comes off, the less weight you have to lose, it comes off more slowly. So - Has anyone who weighed less than 195 pounds when they started FL4I lost at least 40 pounds? If so - how long did it take you? I'm a woman in my 40s and I know men and women lose at different rates, so if I could get some answers from women who've lost the 40 pounds, that'd be great! (Not to leave you guys out, if you want to post an answer, that's fine - it would help other men who may have the same question). Thank you!

You know I never thought thaqt I may possibly be using the scales as the tell all end all for my success. Now that you mention it my clothes are fitting much better although I am not losing many pounds. I'm off to buy some tape! Thank you so much!

HI Guys,
I'm new to FL4I, i'm on my first cycle on Day 4.  I would like to lose about 50lbs.  I haven't cheated at all, but I guess I'm not drinking the suggested water of 8 cups a day.  I also haven't been walking cuz I have had exams all week, and can't seem to take the break and walk. I have been checking the scale pretty religiously, and I know I shouldn't. Last night it said I gained 2 lbs, I was pretty upset and thought about quiting but then this morning I weighed myself and I had not only lost the 2 lbs I gained the previous day but lost 5 more.  I have no idea how sleeping helped me to lose 7lbs, but it did!  For now on I will never way myself anytime but the morning.  Good luck to everyone else!

Welcome Want2BSkinny!

It's a very good idea that you not weigh yourself until the very end of the cycle.  If you read the thread "FL4I - Weighing Yourself", it gives a few recommendations and also suggests measuring yourself at the start of each cycle.  Many people also lose inches on the diet.

I see that you joined our "FL4I - General Discussion" thread which is a good one to be a part of because it's pretty active.

Good luck.

Hi,

I am new too. I am on the 2nd day 1st cycle. Wanting to loose about 77lb (over 5 stone), this is the weight I have gained in the last 4 years (my brother died and I hit rock bottom). I don't have a time of when I would like to really loose this weight for, although I go away end of June and would love just to be a little bit slimmer for then.

I currently weight 13 stone 11lb (193lb) and am 5ft 4

I dream now of being my former self and all my clothes are screaming from the wardrobe deperate to be worn again.

Diane

:cat: Hi everyone!

My name is Wendy.  I just turned the big 4-0.  I am 5'11" and weigh 162#.  I don't have much weight to lose -- been struggling to lose a whopping 7-10 pounds over the last year and a 1/2.  Weight watchers did not work, nor did the recommendations of a nutritionist.  I eat very healthy, although when not dieting, I admit to over-indulging on "bad" carbs (I like my pretzels!)

I just started this diet 5 days ago, have followed the food recommendations of the diet generator without cheating, and I have yet to lose one pound.  I am getting disappointed, but am going to stick with it.  The only thing I do different is that I exercise.  I was lifting weights and spinning before I started the diet, and I don't plan to stop.  Walking doesn't cut it for me alone:  I still walk on top of my exercise regimine.  I only lift / spin 3 days a week.

I could use any encouragement or advice!!

Hi Wendy....since you are close to goal you may lose more slowly....give it an entire cycle and weight first thing on day 12.  Some of us close to goal lose only a pound or so a cycle but we DO consistently lose!!  Are you drinking the recommended water?  Spinning and lifting will not burn fat...great excercise.... but will only burn glycogen because of the intensity....that is why they want very low intensity...walking...but just see how it goes with what you are doing.  Glad to have you join us...and hope you find it goes well for you.
