Well, yesterday I replaced the peanuts with almonds and stayed away from cheese and lost that 1/2 pound I put back on, so I think that's what I'm going to do from now on.  Today is my veggie day, so I expect to lose some today and this weekend I'll be away with my husband in FL.  When we get back we are both going to try this for the full 11 days and hopefully my next round will give better results.  Thanks for the info and the help!

Hello everyone - today is my 4th day on DG...I'm struggling as do all the other newbies but I think this is what I am looking for to help me get rid of these last 20 lbs.

Where is the best place to post/read for tips on how to work this plan?

I posted on the Gen Disc thread earlier and nobody replied to me so I wondered if I was in the right spot?

I have my frozen yogurt/banana shake listed the same day on the same meal!  What do you do about that?

I would have much preferred them seperately, of course!

I also would like to know how you are able to eat pancakes?  One girl mentioned she uses almond flour and egg - what if egg isn't part of that particular meal combo?

Thanks again!

Hi Proud and welcome! The gen disc thread is where most of us post. I know there are alot of people so it sometimes takes awhile to get a reply.
When I have two choices for a meal, I only eat one but the rules states that you can have both items is you want. About the pancakes and the other recipes, I dont use any of them. This diet program needs to be followed to the "T" to get the most results. I have lost 27 lbs since Feb 20th of this year following the DG plan so I know it can be done.
Check back to the gen disc group, you'll find alot of tips and support to keep you motivated
Again welcome!

I have to agree with Hiker that it's all about what works best for you.

Personally, DG has worked better for me, but I know of others that were more successful using BC.

Yesterday, I was into my 7th day of BC.  I STOPPED and switched to DG as of this morning.  When I got on the scale this morning, suprisingly I did lose 3 lbs, so I'm now down 21 lbs since 2/28/08.  But, the most weight was lost on one cycle of DG, while the other 4 were BC.

I have only 16 more days to get comfortable in my bridesmaid dress, so I'm hoping DG will do the trick, along with my daily 2 mile walks and workouts.

But, anyone new to FL4I, I would highly suggest starting with DG only to become acclimated to eating 4 meals/day.  After all, the majority of us never eat that often.  So, you will need to train your body.  Once accustomed to 4 meals, then try BC which requires 6 meals per day.

Good luck, all!!

Hi,

You don't have to have both the frozen yogurt and the banana shake.  If you don't want them together, then drop one of them.  But, if you decide to have both, they have to be taken at the same meal.

Pancakes are not allowed.  Nothing is allowed if it isn't on the menu or on the condiment list.

Good luck and hang in there.

P2baL....I often eat just one item if it seems more appealing or I eat one and then after it settles... the other soon after.  You can eat all or one...what ever you choose...eat until just satisfied.  Ignore meal suggestions that are not specified on the diet menu and you will have the best success.  This diet is meant to be very simple and give a variety of fresh raw and prepared foods....it is important to eat the fresh things raw...like fruits and salads as the enzymes, mineral and vitamins contribute to a healthy diet and digestion.  I hope this works well for you!!
All the best

Hi and welcome P2ba-loser.

Follow the plan to a T and re-read your plan several times that is what I did proir to starting then I went and bought the foods and wrote and organised in my diary what times I would eat it etc.  With the beyond calories I did the same only I selected the foods on a daily basis to fit in with my day and recorded everything.  Remember to drink your water that is a very important part of this diet.

Welcome and goodluck.

About 65% of your body weight is water. It is very normal to have small variations in weight from day to day because of water so you can't measure your exact weight each day. Some people jump to the conclusion they have lost .5 pounds on monday, gained 2 pounds on tuesday, and lost 1.5 pounds on wednesday but it doesn't work that way.

Plus some people eat a lot more on weekends and the scale weight goes up a couple of pounds but during the week it will go back down a couple of pounds.

Many people weigh themselves once a week and at the same time in the morning to get a more accurate idea of how much weight they have lost but after 2,3 or 4 weeks you'll have a very good idea of how much weight you are losing on average each week.

Here's an experiment to try, get on and off your scale 5 times in a row and see how much your weight varies. Most digital scales can vary plus or minus .5 pounds doing this experiment. A mechanical scale may vary by 2 pounds.

Yellow poop is not a bad thing. This program is helping to detox your body as well as adding extra fiber into your diet. The reason poop is sometimes yellow is because your body has taken too long to digest the food and has created a mucus build up. That mucus translates into yellow poop. If your have ever seen green poop, that sometimes has to do with what you ate, bot other times it is fermentation of the food in your system. These colors usually are seen when one uses laxatives or high fiber. Its better to be outside your body than in. The cleaner your digestive system, the faster you will digest and burn weight.

A great place to start is by joining the "FL4I General Discussion" group.  Just introduce yourself.  You'll receive a warm welcome and very helpful information.

As far as achieving a 15 kg (33 lb) loss, it's possible.

Everyone has different results using FL4I.

If you're attending a prom, I assume you are around 17-18 y/o.  For this reason, you may have a greater chance of achieving that goal than many.   The older one becomes, the more difficult it is to drop weight.

I'm sure you'll find much guidance on the General Discussion forum.  It's the very first link on the FL4I home page.  Just go to the very last page which is where the most current discussions take place.

I guess any comments at all would be really helpful...

Hello and welcome to the forums. Sorry this is a week late!

Starvation mode will slow down weight loss, but it won't stop it. If you are eating less than the amount required to maintain your weight, over time you will lose weight.

I hope you will take time to read the tutorial on this site. A diet like FL4I might be a help to you, but for long term you need to learn a little about nutrition, too.

You can read the story of my eating disorder if you like. It's the first post in the Eating Disorders forum. My life was threatened, and the answer wasn't in a diet but in getting the help I needed. And with that I could follow a healthy diet.

Best wishes,

Peter:monkey:

Hello ClematisLover & JanieM:

Congratulations for taking the first step to lose weight.

CPH offers a wonderful forum for "Fat Loss for Idiots" also known as FL4I.

Please be sure to stop by the "FL4I - General Discussion" (go to the last page) and introduce yourself.  You will find a very warm welcome, all the ideas and help you need, along with great recipes, encouragement, and everyday entertainment.

Also, when watching the forum, keep in mind that there are 3 FL4I diets.  The first is the 10-Rule diet, the second is using the online Diet Generator, and the 3rd is using Beyond Calories.  You will find the later two referred to as DG and BC, respectively.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Hi, This is my first day as well. I have tried every pill known to man and I lost alot of weight on some then once I went off I gained back plus more.  I finally decided that I could not do the pill thing anymore it's just not healthy. I am 31 and have somethings going on with my heart due to the pharmacy living inside me:shock: Anyway I am looking forward to seeing results as good as I have read. I know that with the extra weight gone that will help with my heart. I have a daughter and I really want to set a good example for her so I have to do this. I am hoping to drop at least 25 lbs by mid May then another 25 lbs by July. I need all of the support that I can get and I am happy to give some in return. Good luck to everyone.

I'm new to this site, and 3 days into my first FL4I - it's going well I think.  I feel lucky to have found this site...everyone seems so supportive!

I've got a question.  I'm finding that with each meal, I get the almost full feeling only after the first few bites:chewing:.  If I make myself eat more so that I won't be hungry in an hour, I feel stuffed (I've never been a light eater either!).  From a nutrition/health standpoint I want to make sure I eat enough, but I'm also trying to follow the rules too.  Maybe this is just temporary?

I'd appreciate your opinions or suggestions or tips for this.  It's just this is such a foreign thing for me, eating so little!!  I'm not complaining but am just curious.  Thank you!!  I love these smiley things...:cat:  Looking forward to your replies.

Hey, JanieM:

Welcome aboard.  It's possible to drop 25 lbs probably closer to the end of May providing you adhere to the rules of the diet.  I started 2/28 and have lost 21 lbs, but then again I haven't been a very good girl the entire time.

Also, diet pills are bad.  I once took PhenPhen.  The heart palpitations freightened me so much I refuse to ever take another diet pill.  Plus, no one really knows the long-term effects and you almost always gain the weight back.

When you have a chance, go to the "FL4I - General Discussion" thread (last page) and introduce yourself.  You'll get a warm welcome and lots of help.

iggy...when you purchase the FL4I at their web site ( not sure if we can put web sites on here). It is called diet generator and you choose the foods you like, before you do that there is an option to choose vegeterian or not. I have looked at that menu and it has veggie, fruit, nuts, soy, things like that. There are options for cheese and eggs but you do not have to choose them. If your vegan, I am assuming you do not eat milk products and eggs correct? let me know if I can help anymore, sorry if this does not answer your questions.

Its not really a download.  You're just going to a website.  So you should be able to access it from any computer you want.

Hi, CD1974:

If you go to dietaccess.com, you can access the diet generator as often as you want.

If you plan to start the diet, please be sure to join us in the "FL4I - General Discussion" thread.  You get a lot of advice and help, and some pretty good entertainment too.

Hey, Iggy:

Rainbow is correct.  We're limited with the website addresses that can be listed, but I think this will be okay.

Go to dietaccess.com.  You can access this as many times as you like.

Like Rainbow said, there is a link on the site for veggie menu.

Hi
I wanted to know the following?
  1. When it says cheese slices - what kind of cheese can it be?
  2. Baked beans - which ones? any brand of canned ones will work?
  3. When I make a salad, can I use olive oil and lemon?
  4. Idea for good tasting approved salad dressings?
  5. When it says pinto beans, can I eat the ones from "el pollo loco"?
I'm trying to prepare everything before I start dieting.
Thanks

I forgot to mention, I'm starting with the beyond calories.

Rather than creating a new thread for your questions, there are many existing threads that can probably answer any question you may have, e.g., The "FL4I - General Discussion".  Or, post your questions under FL4I - Diet Concerns" and someone will respond.

The "FL4I - Welcome Center" is also a good place to start which shows the different threads that are helpful.

Meanwhile, here are the answers to your questions....

  1. When it says cheese slices - what kind of cheese can it be? This means slices of ANY type of cheese, both full-fat or low-fat is allowed
  2. Baked beans - which ones? any brand of canned ones will work? This has been a question often asked by many because the FL4I instructions aren't clear.  I typically choose the Bush's Baked Beans in a can. I've used both the "Original" and "Maple Flavored"
  3. When I make a salad, can I use olive oil and lemon? 3 tablespoons of Low-Calorie Salad Dressing.  Although it unsaturated, Olive Oil still contains about 14g of fat.
  4. Idea for good tasting approved salad dressings? I used the Wish Bone Salad spritzers.  Usually it's only 10 calories for 10 sprays.
  5. When it says pinto beans, can I eat the ones from "el pollo loco"?  I would imagine so.  I used any type of canned pinto beans, and have bought several different brands.  Providing it says "Pinto Beans" you're safe.
Also, once you generate your menu using the Diet Generator, if you check almost at the bottom of the page, it outlines how to prepare the meals and what you can/cannot have.

Hope this helps.

Hi Anyar
Thank you !!!
I'm not going to use the diet generator, I think I'm just going to make my own menu, it seems easier because I can choose my own food.
What do you think?
Also , the nuts can can be eaten have to be the plain, because it says it can be salted but those normally seem to be more "greasy"

I hope to do well with this diet.
I will be in touch with everybody, I already read a lot of the postings and enjoyed them

Hi, CD1974:

Not sure what you mean by create your own diet???

The rules to FL4I "Diet Generator" and "Beyond Calories" are pretty strict.  Any deviation from it will result in a much slower weight loss.

Now, if you're referring to the FL4I "10-Rule" diet, this would be okay.

When you have a chance, check out the thread "FL4I - Diet Guidelines" it explains how each diet works.

Many of the people that start FL4I and lose weight slowly, you'll find they are not adhering to the rules of the diet.  I'm a very good example of that with my midnight PB & Jelly sandwhiches.

Hope this helps.

Hi Anyar
I decided to do the diet generator from Monday, I do have some questions that maybe you can answer for me:
  1. When I have the milk, can I drink it with instant coffee?
  2. Can I use sweetner like Splenda?
  3. Thew cool whip has to be nonfat?
  4. Tuna has to be in water?
I'm sorry I'm asking so many questions but I really want this to work.
Thanks

Cathy

Hey, CD1974:

You and I seem to have the same problem with coffee -- gotta have it with cream or milk!!

This has been one of my biggest challenges because I need coffee, and I must drink it with cream.  So, I have my daily coffee and I used 2 tbs of Carnation fat-free creamer (20 cal/2tbls).  This might be slowing my weight loss down, but I'd rather slow it down then not have my coffee. :nono:

So, to answer your questions...

  1. When I have the milk, can I drink it with instant coffee?  Yes.  Coffee is allowed using both DG and BC.  If you're allowed milk that day, it absolutely would be no problem to have coffee with milk.

  2. Can I use sweetner like Splenda?  Yes.  Artificial Sweetners are allowed on both DG and BC.

  3. Thew cool whip has to be nonfat? The fruit salad desert that you're allowed to have, the diet rules state: "You can prepare this Fruit Salad Dessert by mixing up the following ingredients: Cool Whip Topping, Kiwi Fruit, Watermelon ,Cantaloupe, Pineapples, Apples, Pears, Strawberries, Grapes, Peaches, Bananas, Plums".  It doesn't state that you must use nonfat or lowfat.  However, I typically choose the lite cool whip for mine.

  4. Tuna has to be in water?  The diets rules state:  "You may prepare your Tuna Salad with any of the following: low fat mayo, mustard, lettuce, onions, or tomatoes".  It doesn't state the type of tuna (water/oil) that must be used.  It does, however, state that you must use lowfat mayo.  Now, because I typically choose going the healthier way, I always buy tuna packed in water.
I hope this answers your questions.

One suggestion I have, whenever you generate your menu, if you look closer to the bottom of the last page, it explains how to prepare your meals and whether you need lowfat or fatfree versions.  If it doesn't state, then assume you can use the regular version.  But, it's always a good idea to go the healthier route and make wise choices.

Hi Iggy...actually the fl4i  offers three diets in one package: Diet Generator with either a vegetarian menu or meat eaters menu, 10 rules diet and Beyond Calories(this is sometimes an additon..but many of us use and like it as a change form DG)
The DG vegetarian version has soy meat/ cheese, beans and nuts choices which will work for you...plus veggies and fruits....no grains I think...perhaps oatmeal??...(the regular version allows one sandwich per cycle...which is not on the veggie)  There is NO vegan version....so you will have to choose only vegan items...and leave off eggs and dairy in your menu choices .
Yes, the site you posted is the diet I bought...it seems to be sold on many different sites so you may want to check to see if all the prices and inclusions are identical.

Sunshine did a wonderful job of answering your questions, but may I also suggest that you look at the threads at the top of the forum that begin with "FL4I".  You might find them helpful.

Also, the "FL4I - Diet Guidelines" has a wealth of information as well.

Pamela:

No, there aren't any recipes on the fatloss4idiots.com site; however, there are a few on this site under "FL4I - Recipes".

This site is the best I've seen on the net for FL4I support.  However, this site is not in anyway associated with the owners or creators of "Fat Loss 4 Idiots".

I would suggest going to the site above and read everything.  When done, it gives you an option to purchase the diet.  Unfortunately, the cost seems to change from time to time.  At one point, they were offering a 50% discount.  Unsure if that's still the case.

When you purchase it, you may also want to consider buying Beyond Calories.

My recommendation is check out our "FL4I - Diet Guidelines" thread which gives you all the info you need on the three FL4I diets that are available.

Hope that helps.
