I am actually allowed cheese with quite a few things on my menu yet with a lot of the different menus that are going around a lot of you seem to have 2 things for a meal where as I usually only get one weird stuff

sorry, but raisins are dehydrated and the stuff that stays from the grapes ist the SUGAR. Grapes have a lot of sugar ( potassium) to begin with, so be careful with the raisins.

There are sweetners made by splenda with vanilla and hazlenut flavor. They taste pretty good if you mix them with the cottage cheese or use them in your coffee.

On the fruit day I puree cooked carrots and add a little pack of splenda- looks like bayfood and it tastes really good. I think it is easier to watch the Splenda with the little individual bags.

FL4I - VEGGIE DAY

When using the Diet Generator, you will encounter Veggie Day. This typically occurs around the 7th or 8th day of the diet, and your only allowed to have veggies that are listed on your menu.

In addition to veggies, you are also allowed 1 oz Grated Cheese (OR) Salad Dressing with each meal, but you cannot have both in the same meal.


As with Fruit Day, Veggie Day has also proven to be very challenging, especially if you don't like veggies.  For those who do enjoy veggies and those who can be very creative with them (see FL4I - Recipes for suggestions), this day is pretty much a breeze.

The reason for Veggie Day on the FL4I diet is not clearly known, but it is assumed that there is a reason, as with Fruit Day.

To put to rest some of the misconceptions about Veggie Day, you are only allowed to eat the veggies that are listed on your generated menu.  If it says squash, this doesn't mean green beans.  If it says green beans, this doesn't mean squash!

As mention above, there are also very specific instructions on what condiments can be used  with your veggies.  Keep in mind, these condiments are over and above what is allowed on your FL4I condiments list.

It is suggested that you adhere to the diet's guidelines as any deviation can slow the weight loss process.

Please use this thread to post encouragement, assistance or any questions you may have pertaining to Veggie Day.

Pinto beans are listed on my veggie day.  Does this mean that I can have hummus?  It's made primarily from pinto beans.  Does anyone eat this on veggie day?

Hummus is made from Chickpea (garbanzo) -- not Pinto Beans.

If the diet says to eat Pinto Beans, that would be my recommendation.

You'll be eating 4 meals (just like other days), but you must choose foods from the below list only:

·  Spinach
·  Broccoli
·  Zucchini
·  Squash
·  Peppers

Not to sound cynical or anything, but we eat veggies! LOL

If you read some of the diet trends on the internet, they say that you don't have to eat a traditional breakfast for breakfast.  You can eat anything with nutritional value. 

Many of us are just used to the traditional breakfast (cereal, bacon, eggs, toast, pancakes, etc., etc.) because this is what we're accustomed to eating.

Veggie Day provides little creativity and manipulation so it's not like you can switch Meal 1 with Meal 3.  Unfortunately, it's the same veggies throughout the day.

You are allowed a little Parmasean cheese.  Maybe some fried tomatoes or Zuchinni with a little Parmasean cheese might provide some normalcy for breakfast.

I just make chilli and eat it all day.  Out of pinto beans too, which is different but it's still good.

Tomorrow is my all veggie day and since rhubarb is technically a vegetable I am thinking of fixing it for my breakfast meal,stewing it with sweetener and cinnamon:yum: and since it can be either red or green is it "legal" ??

What do you all think ???

Im afraid you can only have 3 tblspoon of low calorie salad dressing in every meal!

Hey guys, tomorrow is my vege day and I think I will have like caesar salad for breakfast and lunch then lupper and supper a bowl of minestrone soup!! I love this @ Olive garden, they put potatoes I know we can't use them so I researched and foudn a great recipe. I will share with you guys under the recipes section.

Interesting that you only get one item.
My menus give me 2 and 3 items for each meal. The combinations are sometimes horrifiying :shock:, but I stick to it to the letter.

Vegetable day is/was the most difficult for me. Until I started getting a little more creative.
So, I now cut carrots, some parsnips (for flavor) onion, loveage (sp?) and whatever vegetable I find that's not starchy with some salt and Mrs. Dash and cook that until I can cut the vegetables with a fork. Put all of that with some liquid from the pot in the blender adding a cut up, uncooked tomato and whirr it around a few times. Still chunky, I serve that with some grated Parmesan, which is allowed on vegetable day. When you close your eyes, it could almost be Minestrone :cool: I could eat that soup all day long and not get bored. My vegetable days are easy now.

if some of you still lose weight with the starch, here's a good idea.  bean dip with baked tortilla chips :-) yum.  You can even get "fat free" bean dip as well.  And then you can add cheese to it since it's veggie day.

I know some don't lose weight with the beans, but I love beans.  I think I would be tempted to eat the baked tortilla chips on cheat days, but it could be a hinderance in losing weight on diet days.  You could, however, mash your own beans for veggie day, and make a sort of hummus type dip that you could also use with vegetables like carrots, etc.  I think vegie day is my favorite over fruit day, hands down.  But when it comes to losing weight, the fruit day seems to be more effective for most.

This is a veggie day I posted on the recipes forum, I thought it would be helpful here too:

1 package of tofu burger crumbles (optional)

1 can of pinto beans, rinsed and drained

1 8oz bottle of taco sauce (any brand, I prefer Taco Bell)

1 8oz can of tomato sauce (preferably mexican style)

1 can of mild, hot or regular Rotel (diced tomatoes with green chiles)

Olive oil flavored cooking spray

Crushed garlic to taste

1 diced onion

Chili powder to taste

Ground cumin to taste

Kraft Taco Shredded Cheese Blend or your favorite, (optional) 


Instructions:

Spray the pot with the cooking spray,

Sautee the onion and garlic on a 4 qt pot, until the onion is tender

Cobine remaining ingredients and stir.

Simmer for 30 minutes.

If using a crock pot, set in on high for 4 hours or on low for 6 to 8 hours or overnight.

You can eat this throughout the day on veggie day. Sprinkle with an ounce of cheese if desired.

 

I personally eat this chili on veggie day with the tofu crumbles because I don't like meatless chili and the crumbles come close to that. I've still lost weight regardless but it's up to you.

can you eat lentils on your veggie day?  I found some progresso lentil soup and since pinto beans are allowed I thought maybe lentils would be.  Also, what about pork and beans in a can?  It doesn't actually have pork in it just pinto beans and sauce.
