I'm in the same boat as you were here.... on my 5th day of beyond calories... this is my first time doing it, i have not lost a pound.... I'm drinking as much water as i can, which is close to if not more than 3L a day (that is hard... i feel like i have my water bottle attached to my hand all day! lol) and to boot i'm not cheating!

I jsut found out about fat loss 4 idiots, thought i would try the beyond calorie one and now i'm thinking maybe i should have started with the diet generator.... any suggestions?
when did you start to loose weight? which one is better?

this place is awsome hope i can get the support needed to loose the 10 lbs i've gained though the winter in time for May 30 2008 (MY WEDDING!!!!!)

Newmum:  Send me a private message and I explain to you about Beyond Calories.

Starley:  Actually, you should have started with the DG because it disciplines you to eat 4 meals/day, which most of us are not accustomed to eating.  When jumping directly into BC, your body is switching from normal eating habits directly into eating 6 meals/day.  Personally, this didn't work to well with me.  Also, you will find that you will not lose weight if you don't reduce the amount per meal.  That's very important.  Determine half of what you would normally eat, then reduce it by half.

Now, there may be some people that differ in this opinion and went directly to BC. Unfortunately, I can't testify to their weight loss success.

Personally, I have lost most of my weight using DG.

Good luck.

Starley, although I am a huge fan of the BC diet compared to the DG one I would agree with Anyar. It might be best to do a full cycle of DG then if you're still interested in switching over you might want to try it. I did the DG for 2.5 cycles and lost about 7 lbs, then I did a cycle of BC and lost 8 lbs in one cycle. For me the BC is working better and I like the food choices a lot better but we are all different. I know for some the 6 meals is just not doable but for me it is a life saver. That being said the "meals" at least 5 of them are very small and usually I only have one choice except at the 6th meal when I try to have protein and vegetables. Anyway if this doesn't seem to be working it wouldn't hurt to switch to DG and see if that is better for you.

Thanks Rainbow, Raynar and Sunshine

I am still not ready to jump on that bandwagon that I am always preaching about.

It is actually my 40th birthday on Friday and one of my goals was to lose and reach my ideal weight range for this, so I am a little disappointed that I was unable to do this.  But I have decided not to stress.....I know I will lose it and like I said I have lost the majority of my weight it was just battling with those last lbs.  Anyway today I had my hair done cut, styled and coloured...greys gone for awhile so i am feeling pretty good about myself. My mantra should be "think positive" and " don't stress".
Thanks again ladies, like I've said before I appreciate your support immensley.

Happy April Fools Day:tongue: it's my older brothers Birthday today, I've always felt sorry for him being born on this day.

Cheers

Hi, I just started Beyond Calories today.  I was curious if you went through the entire 10 days and how much weight you lost.  I was planning on following Beyond Calories today-thursday, have a 3 day cheat period friday-sunday and doing the 11 day Fat Loss For Idiots program starting Monday.

Dira, Apartian and Audree, there is a thread already started for those of us on the BC you might want to check it out for some details it was started by Anyar and is pretty active.

I have done both the DG and the BC and I have much better results with BC. I lost 8 lbs on the first cycle. On DG I only lost 7 lbs on 2 1/2 cycles. Some people find one better than the other, it is really just a matter of which one suits your needs best, for me it's hands down BC.

Hello everyone.....I have just started BC yesterday and I love the program so far, I worl 12 hr shifts so its no problem for me to eat 6 meals a day. But I had a MAJOR ooops today when I got home from work and my husband was home and it was time for dinner. We have not seen one another for a few days and it was nice to have a meal together and talk about the day. All I had was barbeque chicken with  a baked potatoe which I know is not that bad, but now I will have to start all over again tomorrow. I'm just glad that I am only on day 2, I am just really mad at myself for giving in, I was doing so well yesterday an today eating all my meals at the right times and feeling great after because I was not at all hungry. And for once today I turned own chocolate covered popcorn from a co-worker and I was sooooo proud of myself.  Now I am scared I wont be able to do this, I soooo desperatly want to shed 30lbs...do you think this program is right for me or should I try the regular plan??

Katie, not to worry about a baked potato, I wouldn't even give it a second thought, after all it was a celebratory potato, not just any potato. Honestly I would just continue on with the program. Why are you worried you can't do it....you are doing it. Turned down chocolate covered popcorn....way to go! If you sticking with the program and have a little slip, like the potato I say just go on, we all slip and we get up and keep going, you're doing great!

I agree, the occasional oops happens to us all :)  and that nighttime meal is the hardest, I find preparing a meal for my toddler really hard as Im so used to tasting it or having a bite of her leftovers- but still managed to loose on this program ( and Im a big skeptic of these things).

If its any help I found the first 3-4 days hard then after that it was actually pretty easy, in fact I got to the days off and didn't actually want to take them as my body ahd adjusted to this way of eating so hang in there.

Hi everyone, here is my take between DG and BC.  I did DG the first cycle and lost a little over 5 pounds.  On the 3 days off I lost 1.2 pounds.  I am doing my second cycle on BC and at the end of day 4.

DG - I think if you want to lose weight fast or have a lot of weight to lose, this is the way to go first and maybe all the way through until you hit close to where you want to be.  Because you only usually have 1 food at a time (at least that is how I ate most of it) you will only eat so much of it and you will definitely stop.  You dont have to think about what to eat, it is there for you.  No guessing and a little bit easier not to stray from as when you are picking your own food and adding things that maybe should not be in it.  If you stick with it, you can lose inches fast so you can then see the progress you are making (not the scale but actual inches so your clothes feel better.)

BC - To me this should almost be used as a maintenance program once you hit your goal or are close.  Because you are eating more than 1 food at a sitting, it can be very easy to eat too much.  Eating 6 times for me is too much.  I think if you had a lot of weight to lose, at first you might do okay with this but if you did not learn how to tell when you are full, it could be deceiving.  I think this program would be good after DG so that you can start adding foods into your daily diet and see what works and how much you can actually eat without gaining any weight and to be comfortable.  This would then be a teaching tool for a WOE.

I also think maybe alternating between DG and BC may work just to break up the boredom, 1-2 DG then 1 BC then DG and so on.  Again, I guess it comes down to how much weight you really have to lose or how much of a hurry you are in to lose it.

For me, I have not stepped on the scale this cycle yet. I do not feel that I have gained anything, but not sure if I lost anything either, but Thursday morning I will step on it to see cause I think I am going to back on DG to lose my last 5 pounds.  I am just going to add 1 serving of veggies at my dinner.  I did not change anything the first time around, stuck to it like glue, but missed my veggies so I will just add 1 serving.  As long as there is no sugar in them, they should not be a problem.

So that is my take on these programs.

HI all, I posted this on the general site but thought it should go here too.

I just wanted to add to Autumns post, I think the difference between the two is really a matter of what works for you. My experience has been the complete opposite of Autumn's, I am losing more and faster on BC than I did on DG. I just couldn't deal with the food combos on DG and eating just one food was not pleasant for me at all. That being said I eat one food for most of my meals but I really enjoy having protein and vegetables at supper. I am pretty good at getting in the 6 meas a day, my daily calorie intake is usually right around 1,000., so obviously those meals are small. Again,as Autumn suggested,  I think it's a good idea to try them both and see what works for you. They both have there pros and cons.

Well it is coming to the end of my 40th Birthday....hubby is taking me out.  You will never guess what I have a chosen:shock:for my dinner outing???? He wanted to take me to a swanky dress up place but I have opted for a Burger place (Gourmet I should state) and the movies.  I am not in the mood for getting too dressed up and this fornight has been so full on with School and outside School activites and I am just exhausted.  I have got some lovely and unexpected:gift: gifts...but I got teary reading the cards it is so nice to be thought of in such a positive.  My youngest son is wanting to know where the birthday:birthday_cake: cake is?  Tomorrow I said we will do the family thing with a bbq and cake.

I went for lunch with some friends yesterday and actually walked away from there feeling quiet ill and so did my friend which I only found out today though. And today I was feeling a bit better got shouted breakfast and afternoon tea today but nothing too large I stuck to small portions due to feeling still a bit queasy from yesterdays lunch.

Rainbow you look lovely the way you are.  We are our own worst enemies when it comes to looks...aren't we?  I have to admit I am pretty slack with my hair I wear it longish and pull it up and throw a cap on.  Today I wore it down and i got a few surprised looks:shock: in a good way though...I hope:tongue:.

So I am into a new decade of my life:wink: it goes so fast doesn't it?  So I had better make the most of it, because before I know it I will be 50:shock::tongue:...Lol.

Enjoy the weekend all.  Our Schools are closed now for a weeks break and I am so looking forward to it and hopefully getting refocused to lose.

We are getting a kitten to add to our family unit next week so i will probably be busy with this.

Cheers

Happy Birthday, Will68!:birthday_cake:,

You will lose those last few pounds--presents often arrive late in the mail:wink:. I had to write, b/c I turned 40 last June and had the same mindset as you, that I needed to start 40 with a new and improved me.

However...as you might guess, the new and improved me did not really spring into action until the end of January this year, so...with any luck by 41, the first week of June this year, I'll be the "hot mama" of my dreams:tongue:

You are WAY ahead of that curve!

Have fun with the kitty:cat:!

Again, happy birthday!

P.S. Hope you had a great birthday dinner; a gourmet burger sounds like an excellent choice:smile:

I always love turning a new decade....when people ask you how old you are just say"I'm in my forties" ...they will say "You look so young for forty!"....doesn't work as well when you hit 49...but then you get to look young for your fifties.... again!!
Have fun with:cat:

Thank you eveyone:grin::grin::grin::grin:!!!!!!!!!

I have had a very indulgent 40th filled with lots of happiness, so unlike my 30th which I spent on my own and hubby was working overseas.  I am so much more postitive about my 40's and I feel good about myself.

For my Birthday dinner I had a yummy burger and some fries:tongue: and then hubby took me own a scenic walk  and I had heels on:dizzy:.  But do you know what the best part of my birthday was? coming home and going to bed:tongue:.  I hope I am not sounding too old already:tongue::tongue:.

Thanks again everyone, you are all very special:grin:.

Thanks Rainbow.

Maybe your turning 40 only became a realisation to you when you turned 41 and maybe those dreaded menopausal happenings were occurring unbeknownst to you aswell.  My sister is nearly 50 and it feels like she's been going through the change forever.

Well once again thanks for your good wishes and support.

Its funny you all come and check on me even though I am not following any type of diet at the moment......I feel a bit of a fraud:crying:.  But you are all so nice I can't tear myself away from this forum....it's like a drug.

I know I will need to pull my head in again soon and get back into losing mode.  I fear I have left it too long:sad: though.

I had better get moving...I have been in and out all day with the kids and today my os broke a vase with his soccer ball:angry::angry:....I was that upset and angry i had steam coming out my head  and i am sure the whole nieghbourhood heard my yelling.  I was upset with them prior due to misbehaving when out and then to top it all off this happens.  Talk about repetition with parenting he had only been told a million times not to play with the ball in the house, but for some reason they choose to not listen until something like this happens:sad:.

take care everyone.

Hey, Will:

Just checking in to see how things are going.  I know that you're not following any diet right now, but I sure hope you stay on with us.  Maybe we can get you motivated to start back up.  It's especially hard when you have children.

I also understand about kids breaking things.

I think that's why I never wanted kids.  I keep an immaculate home, and had an interior decorator come in last year.  My daughter thinks I'm crazy, but neither her or her friends are allowed in my living room, or on my couch because I paid entirely too much for it.  Their place is the basement or in her bedroom.  She's also required to take "shoes off at the door".

Am I a mean Mommy or what?

Hi, Beatlesrule:

Welcome to the site.

The rules say to eat until your satisfied but don't stuff yourself.  So this means about 1/2 to 3/4 of what you would normally eat.

One reason that you feel full is because you're eating high satiety foods.  I, too, experienced the same problem where I just didn't want to eat at all.  Then when the next meal came around, I was still somewhat full.  You can also try spacing your meals a little farther apart if need be.

May I ask which FL4I diet your using?  There are actually three.  The 10-Rule diet, the Diet Generator and Beyond Calories.

Also, if you want a lot of help and to get to know many FL4I members, drop a post in the "FL4I - General Discussion" thread (the 1st one listed).  Introduce yourself, and you'll meet many wonderful people willing to help out and answer your questions.

It's also pretty entertaining with lots of smileys.

Hello Will,

I feel your pain with the inside ball playing! On Christmas eve just past, my sons and their cousins broke a lamp play soccer inside:angry:, but it was Christmas...I couldn't yell as much as I would've liked:grin:. Lucky for them!

Rayna, you aren't a mean mommy...my kids are very well trained to take their shoes off right away...or then again, maybe we're both mean mommies:devil:!

Anyway, Will, when you're ready and/or need to diet, you will!

Take care!

Hey Losingwt, Rayna, SS, Rainbow and everyone who make time for my diary.

Rayna received your PM's:wink:

The boys holidays are coming to a close they go back to School Tuesday..they have a pupil free day on Monday where only the teachers go back.  And I am off to my sisters tonight for a girls weekend sans boys (well my boys) she has a 20yo and he works and does he own thing.  So we will be shopping at the Gold Coast (have you heard of this place) it is a tourist destination in the state of Queensland.  It's about a 50 minute drive from where I live but my sister lives in the hinterlands about 15 minutes from the Coast...it is gorgeous and very cold at the moment.  We are entering winter soon and the weather has been unusually cool at this time of year.

With regards to getting back onto the DG and BC I have to admit I am getting abit disheartened  with it all.  I find alot of contradictions with what some are doing and saying and I am feeling out of my depth a bit.  When I did the BC last year I lost over the 2 cycles and then it slowed and I lost the plot and then I went back on it this year after the xmas holiday where I had gained 5kg (11lbs) and I managed to lose this doing 2 cycles again but then it got slower and slower and then I tried the DG and I couldn't even make it through the half way mark.

Now my other admission is that I have actually been reading through the general forum here and have been researching other dietry programs and CpH actually advocates certain diets and reviews them in their Products link and Nir and Peter have been great in advising me on certain issues that i have been struggling with....basically I find I am always on a diet struggling to lose and then whether for hormonal reasons or stress I fall off the wagon and then I gain then I lose and the cycle is a vicious  one...and it becomes a never ending treadwheel ride.  I turned 40 a week ago today and i am tired of going down this same path time after time, I feel tired and I am not eating well at all, I am also not exercising and this all combined makes for a very grumpy and unhappy person.  So at the moment I am checking out another plan and I hope it will be one that I can see through and hopefully "maintain" at the end which is always the hardest part for me.  Dieting as we all know is very individual and what works for one person doesn't neccessarily work for another, so we basically have to follow the path we think is right for us.  For me I get lazy once i have finished with something and then I need to be stimulated by something different and i am hoping this will eventaully bring me to something that I know works for me and i can sustain for life.

I hope you all don't mind me hanging around here though.....I really enjoy your company and that is the main reason I have stuck around and also I get a buzz that I have internet buddies from the other side of the Globe.

Hey

I was a regular postie several months back when I was on the diet generator but I couldnt even survive the first cycle! how bad is that.....I was on the vegetarian plan and just found the foods way to repetative and boring eating hardboiled eggs and beans everyday became tirsome!

The funny thing is I  know the diet worked I lost like 6 lbs during the time I was on it but I hate not having a choice of food and I get bored easily just eating the same thing so I am a failure in that regard.

Ever since my weight has not budge (in the downward direction) and I am getting really frustration I have tried sweating it out at the gym but the foods I eat just allow me to maintain  I really want to try the BC plan as I think it could fit into my life much easier and I like to be in control. Do you guys know if I can purchase the plan serperatly without having to buy the 'package'  I dont really want to buy th DG again!

Thanks x

Hi FFG

I checked out the FL4I web and it has 2 packages and package 2 comes with the BC the DG and diet book. They are not sold seperately, I think they used to be though from what I have read on this forum.  Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

I prefer the BC to the DG but it very individual as you can tell if you read through the forum.

You could also ask in the main forum somebody might know something different or try ebay.

Take care

I haven't been on this board for awhile so I thought I'd check in. I am starting my 4th cycle of BC and I still prefer it to DG. I am not having huge weight losses, I am averaging about 2 lbs a week on BC but I find the food choices so much better that at least so far I think this is the better plan for me. I can live on this one where I really couldn't on DG but again, we are all different. Is there anyone else out there on BC?

Thanks Sunshine

I really like this forum and the postitvity here is addictive, so I will be hanging around here for awhile.  I am currently battling the flu and I was taking up a weightloss challenge through my other forum but I have had to let that go to the way side for the time being.  Frustrating to say the least.

By the way I will be going back on the BC but I was going to do the challenge first and when I platued I was turning to the DG or BC.

So that is my exciting update:tongue:.

Hi Hiker

Glad to see someone is still here!  I introduced myself on the FL4I general discussion board yesterday, and I did three days of that 11 day DG program, but I can't do it anymore, eating 4 times a day doesn't work for me, I was already used to eating 6 times - I'm still breastfeeding (I know, it's a little risky to diet while you're nursing but he gets most of his food from solids now as he's 16 months old, he really only nurses for a minute or two here and there) but anyway, I got very used to eating small meals often throughout the day to keep my energy up when he nursed exclusively.  Plus, I REALLY like how many more veggies I can eat on BC!  Is it still working well for you?

Hi All

My first day of beyond calories today.  I am using this instead of DG as I have lots of allergies and intolerances and this diet gives me more control.

I hope you all don't mid but I want post what I eat each day to help me be accountable!!  Once I am in the swing of it I am sure I will be fine.

I weighed in today at 140lbs 33.5%body fat.  I am measuring my body fat because I want to ensure that the weight loss is fat and not lean tissue. Obviously some will be water.

Here is todays meals

8am Meal1: Pineapple and apple
10am Meal2: baked beans and goats cheese (grated on - yummy, comfort food!)
12pm Meal 3: Chicken and apple
2pm Meal4: blueberries grapes
4pm Meal5 : pepper,cucumber , tomatoes and smoked salmon
6pm Meal 6: blueberries grapes

See you tomorrow

Hi, Clairey:

Glad you're jumping aboard the FL4I train!!

Since you've decided to use the FL4I Beyond Calories, just make sure you eat a minimum of 4 meals per day, but preferably six.  Also, make sure you you eat only until you feel satisfied at each meal, or you will find yourself being full when the next meal comes around.

Now, as far as posting your daily journal, I would highly recommend that you not do so using the FL4I threads.  You can easily create a daily journal on our site by going to http://www.caloriesperhour.com/forums/forum31/.

Hope this helps you out.

Greetings!

I'm thinking of joining FL4I and I've enjoyed reading through your forum.  I'd love to participate.  My question is: when I went to purchase the program, I see there is an option to buy Package #2 which includes something called "Add-on Beyond Calories."  I haven't seen this mentioned here and was wondering if it's worthwhile.  Any feedback would be appreciated - Thanks

I am surprised you didn't see the topics about it listed under Fat Loss 4 Idiots (FL4I) in particular FL4I - Diet Guidelines (INFORMATIONAL ONLY)

Nir,

I finally found the main page and got all the information I needed.  I wasn't navigating my way around the site thoroughly.  Thanks for the response, though

I guess this question has been asked many times but...where on the FL4I website is this diet? I don't see it? I recently purchased WL4I, am on day 4, and wonder if BC is part of the 39$ package plan I purchased? I searched the website, my diet handbook, etc. and found nothing. Am a bit confused. :dizzy:

Thanks if anyone can help. I'm just curious.

To answer your question, the "Calories Per Hour" site is totally unrelated to the "Fat Loss 4 Idiots" site.  When purchasing the "Fat Loss 4 Idiots" diet on their site for $39, that only gives you access to the diet generator.  If you want the "Beyond Calories" diet, that is an additional cost.  At the time of purchasing the "FL4I" diet, they will ask if you want to purchase "Beyond Calories".

Unfortunately, once you purchase and download the "FL4I" diet, you no longer have the option to purchase "Beyond Calories".  If you want to purchase it, you will have to pay the entire amount again plus the additional cost for purchasing "Beyond Calories".

Hope that helps.

It's your preference.  I'm starting BC again tomorrow.

To be able to eat 6 meals/day, I'm going to reduce the choices I eat per meal unless; however, it says eat 3 items from Group3, in which case that will be a salad for me (lettuce, tomotoe, cucumber).

If you chose a salad, I found that the new Salad Spritzers are really good because you can evenly spray the salad without having to use suggested 2tbls limit.  With the spray, you don't need 2tbls.

Hiker, also, if you have MS Excel or MS Works, I created a really nice spreadsheet that breaksdown everything.

Tab1 is the tracking sheet that allows you to lay your menu out for the 10-day period, and track everything you eat.  It also allows you to track your water and your daily exercise.

Tab2 is the Food Group menu that you can choose from.

Tab3 are the rules of the diet.

Tab4 is a weight tracking schedule over 55 days.

If interested, let me know and I'll send it to you.

Rayna

iM INTERESTED IN YOUR SPREADSHEET

Just send me a private message with your email address and I'll forward you the MS Excel spreadsheet that I created.  I have one for both the Diet Generator as well as Beyond Calories.

Hi there!
Everyone on diet break or....???

Anyway.  I am new here and on my 4th day of BC.
Doing ok but not much of a loss yet.
When did the wheel start spinning with you guys? From day 1 or...?

This diet is not very easy for me since I do not eat meat or fish so I have to gorge on nuts, eggs, cheese and beans when group 2 and 4 are in question.

Looking forward to see the final result, if good I will continue after the 3 day break :cow:

Have a nice day!

Hi, Aladdin:

Welcome to the board.  I'm currently doing Beyond Calories vs. the Diet Generator.  I lost 30 pounds on the diet from 2/28 to 4/19 but this was with a combination of BC and DG.  I didn't have as much success on BC likely because I can't get used to eating 6 meals per day.

Also, because I don't think anyone is on the BC diet right now except for you and me, consider joining the "FL4I - General Discussion" thread.  This is the most active thread.

Good luck and let us know how you're doing on the diet.

Thanx Anyar I'll probably join that thread ;)
On my 5th day, still have not lost more than one pound
I have followed the diet plan completely :nono: no cheats!

Hope the weightloss starts soon.

Hi Anyar!

I was looking into the BC and I know that my husband would like to switch to this (he is used to eating 6x/day).  I saw that you have spreadsheets for both the BC and the DG as well (I think I'll stick with DG through the 11th day and then consider switching over to BC).  Can I send you a PM with my email and get those spreadsheets?? :) I love to be abe to chart my progress, plan things out, etc.  Thanks!

Absoutely.  Anyone wanting a copy of the spreadsheets is more than welcome.

Just remember, these are simply spreadsheets that help you to lay out your meal plan over the 10 or 11 day period.  Some people think that it includes the DG or BC diet but it doesn't.

Send me a private PM and I'll be happy to send you the spreadsheets.
