Omayra - I was so excited when I read your post for your last cycle losses!  That HAD to be some great incentive for you.  You were probably under a lot of stress leading up to the time your DH deployed, so that didn't help.  But, as you see, you jumped right back on the wagon and had GREAT results! WOOHOO! You go girl!!

Thanks webfairy! I lost just under 3 lbs out of the 4 i gained back over the weekend. I'm going to try not to weigh in till Friday morning at this point. Looks like I just might drop below 170 again this cyle:smile:

It's already been 2 weeks since my husband left and so far, it hasn't been all bad. I feel pretty productive.

Well, today I deviated because I had to meet with a friend at IHOP. I had an apple-stuffed french toast. Since I chose to ordered, I decided to have it minus the bacon, eggs and hashbrowns that usually come with it. My friend ordered this banana cheesecake crepe dessert and it was so big, I had a few spoonfuls.

I feel satisfied enough to just call it a day as far as food.

I'm definitely not weighing in till no earlier than Friday morning.

Hi ladies,

I am on day 3 of the DG this round. I was suppose to weigh in last Friday after I completed BC cycle but still have not stepped on the scale. My clothes are getting loser day by day and that's good enough for me. I have decided not to weigh in but instead measure myself every cycle.

So, hopefully i will be a size 32 soon, currently I am wearing size 36. I will definately keep you updated om my progress.

nkateko,

i think you should step on the scale. when you follow the plan closely, that's usually the best part of the cycle. i understand if you deviated though.

great job on the inch loss though

After my deviation last night at a church potluck, I'm not weighing in till the end of my cycle. I'm also going to be deviating on Tuesday morning because I just became a Mary Kay consultant and I'll be throwing my first party at the local IHOP. At least it'll be breakfast. I'll try to see if I can have them hold the pancakes and hashbrowns but if not, whatever I eat, I know can be burned off throughout the day.

Hi everyone!!  Been away for awhile.  I hope everyone is doing great!!!  I am on my 7th cycle of BC.  The previous 2 cycles I have lost nothing and the cycle b4 the last 2 I lost 3.8lbs.  So in three cycles(30days) I have lost 3.8lbs.  I feel that even the inches have stopped coming off.  Getting discouraged.  right now I am fluctuating between 239 and 241.  I take one day off between cycles, but pretty much stick to food on the plan because I tend to feel sickly(bloated, lethargic) when I deviate.  I seem to be maintaining what I have lost, but I don't want to maintain at 241, I want to get more off!!!!  Any suggestions???

Ibelieve - Hi there! Glad to see you back! PM me your email address and I will send you an article on stalls and plateaus.  Read it and see if anything there helps.  What about trying one cycle on the DG and then going back to BC, to see if that shakes things up a bit?  I know some people need to eat 6 small meals a day like the BC, but the DG could get you going again.  It's only 11 days and worth a try. It's up to you.

There are many things that can cause the stalls, like medications you are taking, and food intolerences (like wheat, gluten, dairy, etc), not enough exercise, not enough water:bottle_water:. We are all different, and carbs effect some of us worse than others.  There can be hidden carbs you are taking in that add up, and do effect you, if you are carb sensitive (like me).  Are you drinking diet sodas at all?  Aspartame and caffeine, in excess, can inhibit weight loss, although most people don't realize it.  Another thing you might check out is your thyroid.  Ask your doc to give you a thyroid test. It is a simple blood test and can make a world of difference.  So many people have hypothyroidism and don't know it.  I was gaining and couldn't lose and finally found out I had hypothyroidism. Once I got on thyroid meds, this diet helped me lose all the weight I packed on over the last couple years, and they went pretty fast.  Also, are you sure you are eating 1/2 the amount of a meal you would normally eat when you eat your six meals?  Some people eat more than they should which won't work for weight loss, of course.  There are many things to check out, and more than likely at least one of them are going to pertain to your issue.  Hopefully you can narrow it down and get on track.  Let us know if we can help.

Hi Webfairy!  Thanks for your reply.  I have totally cut out breads, rice, potatoes, don't eat chips, chocolate, cookies or cakes.  I think i get the bulk of my carbs from my veggies now.  I was totally addicted to pepsi about 6 months ago, but do not drink any soda at all now, only water and decaf earl grey tea.  I had my thyroid checked last month as I have been having some memory problems, and it came back fine.  But...I have been having severe problems with my menstral cycle.  Am going to Cuba in November and would have been enduring TOM when I am on vacation.  I would not have been able to leave the hotel room if this happened, so dr. put me on the pill to change that course.  That is the only thing I can think of.  Is it possible that this is stalling me??  I would like to IM you my e-mail to get that info, but I do not know how to do that lol.  Can u tell me?

I am tired, frustrated and don't want to play this game with my body anymore.  I don't think I am eating too much or more then 1/2 of what I would normally eat.  I was a straight up meat, potatoe and veggie person and pretty much everything else I wanted besides.  If my meal is 2 proteins,  I usually will have 2-3 slices of deli meat and a nappy bowl of cottage cheese or 4-5 slices of block cheese for example.  Does that seem like too much?  I am going to try to hang in there until I can get off this birthcontrol pill and see what happens then.  Hopefully that is all it is.

Just venting.  Not directed at anyone in particular, except maybe my body lol.  Thanks

ibelieve, Realistically, I know I can't eat small meals every 2 hours, especially when I start school. I suggest you eat the foods listed on the menu each day, but make breakfast and lunch your largest meals, and in the evening, eat smaller meals. I managed to lose weight that way and I dont have to obsess over the schedule because I'm satisfied during the day.

Hey there all the BCers

I've done a short intro on myself in the New Members forum, will just repost it here to save the trouble
"Hi all
I'm from South East Asia, and am currently on Beyond Calories plan. Thought i'd drop by to say hi.... =)
I'm 5'4 and weigh 156 lb. I'm getting married March 2010 and need to achieve 125 lb!
After following some of the discussions, i know it can be done, and it's just a matter of time till i get there.
I'm doing Day 7 now.... so anxious to know how much i've lost. I definitely feel better...but is this a placebo effect? :dizzy:"

I think this plan is great. I think it improves your digestive system, encourages increase in water, fruits and vege intake. In the long run, it actually changes your lifestyle.

Some things i'd like to ask:
1) I'm taking most of my protein intake from Ham/Sausages and Baked Beans. Would the fact that these are "preserved food" affect the weight loss? Anyone else doing this as well?
2) Is low fat yogurt allowed?

Well color me red!!!  My whining must have triggered something in my body cuz I woke up this morning and was down 4lbs.  I have not been able to get below 239 for the past three cycles.  Yesterday morning I was 240 and this morning I woke up to 236.  The sun is shining again:cool:

Cuddles - Yogurt is not on the list, other than frozen yogurt, so if you want to follow the diet exactly, I would say no.  You can sub, if you want, as long as you realize it could mess with your results.  I had sausages on all my cycles, and ate pinto beans whenever possible, (although I did make my own in the crockpot).  The sausages were chicken sausages (although they had cheese and apples in them), and didn't have any negative effect on my losses.  I did well, even.  I would try to add some other items in to your diet (as allowed), though, as you could have better results.  Fish, even shrimp if your don't like any kind of fish, is really good, high protein and low fat.  You can have ANY fish, not just what is listed.  I try to stay away from canned and boxed foods as they aren't healthy.

Ibelieve - YAY!  Great news! I am happy for you!

Thanks Webfairy!!  Btw, how did you make your pinto beans in the crock pot?  Is there a recipe that you follow?  Chicken sausage sounds interesting.  Not a big fan of the link farmers sausage.  Do you think Italian sausage would be ok.  I eat a lot of fish, but would like to try something different.  Getting a little bored.  Thanks

ibelieve -  I put dry pinto beans I have soaked overnight in the crock pot with water (just to cover), and add cumin, chili powder, oregano, canned tomatoes (you can get the ones with the mexican or italian spices if you like), and I saute onions and garlic and add that to the pot.  Then I cook on low overnight and freeze batches in ziplock bags so I can take some out everytime I get them on my menu or for veggie day.  I am sure I missed a couple spices, but you can add what you like... basil, etc.  You can even do low sodium, fat free (chicken) broth instead of/or with the water.

Any sausage is ok, so Italian is fine.  Personally, I love the Amy's sausages.  There are so many yummy combos.  My fav is the chicken apple, gouda, but they have others that are fantastic.  Besides, I liked the fact they are chicken, not pork, as it feels healthier.  There are also other similar brands in the meat section like Aidells, that sell their versions.  I ate them every single cycle, probably 7 out of the 11 days on cycle and I lost great.  I eat a lot of shrimp, too, which I think helps, as opposed to beef.  I have never really been much of a red meat eater my whole life, so I normally opt for chicken and fish type foods.

I hope someone can help me with a question.  I know the diet says it's OK to have ketchup and bbq sauce.  Does that mean any ketchup and bbq sauce?  They both have a lot of sugar in them.  Has anyone else had a problem with these?

Thanks

sorry webfairy, i don't want to keep bugging you.  I keep forgetting that you are doing DG and I am doing BC.  Would that pinto bean recipe be acceptable on BC.  I have been in the recipe room and find that all of the recipes contain things not on the BC food list.  Am I being to stringent?

ibelieve - You aren't bugging me, silly. Oh, I forgot we are talking about BC.  It is a little different as condiments aren't allowed, and I guess the tomatoes would be out, too.  But I don't see why you cannot make them still with spices, like the cumin, chili powder, etc.

llynn - Hi there.  Ketchup & BBQ sauce are allowed on DG, but not BC, and it says mustard and seasoning salts are allowed on the deli meats, but no other condiments are allowed.  I am looking at a copy of the BC since I am not as familiar with it as the DG, and that is what it says on my copy.  Are you talking about the DG? When buying condiments and dressings, I look at the nutrition information on the labels to make my choices, and try to opt for ones that have the least amount of sugar.  But even so, you want to use condiments in moderation, so as long as you are doing that, it is fine (on the DG).

Hi Webfairy, thanks for answering so quick.  I am on the DG so it's OK to use the ketchup and the bbq sauce.  My husband is on it with me, and I think part of the reason that he doesn't lose so much is he is a ketchup freak.  He will use about a 1/2 cup of ketchup at 1 sitting.  Also on the bbq sauce I think you right that I should look for one that is very low in sugar or sugar free.

Thanks

Thanks WebFairy for the reply...so i'm on the right track...this diet is easier said than done. I thought i'd have no problems taking 2L of water and eating 6 times a day. I was going very well until these last 2 days when it was so busy at work i keep forgetting my meals (even then i manage to at least get 5 in) and i felt i over-ate during lunch time :nono:

Some days i only manage to get 1L of water in....

On the bright side I've always been exercising (3 times a week) which includes 3 cycling classes. Also managed 2 days of brisk walking last week 30mins per session. . so i hope that would help speed up the weight loss.

Cuddles - I know it's tough when we are at work and get busy, but an idea would be to have some nuts in a snack size baggie and that could be a quick meal in a pinch, so you don't miss a meal. That at least will keep you on track with all your meals.  The reason I mention nuts is that it is listed on the allowed foods and it is easy to keep (no refrigeration required).  It's just an idea.  I keep a baggie of nuts in my desk at all times, as skipping a meal isn't a good thing to do for weight loss.  Keep us posted!

LLyynn - Ketchup doesn't say it has to be low sugar or sugar free.  Actually some sugar free products are worse than sugar, as they replace the sugar with worse (like aspartame). But there are some that are ok, so just read the label. As long as you do your condiments in moderation, you shouldn't have a problem with the regular. But your DH might have to tone down his amounts.  1/2 cup?  Is he having a little food with his ketchup? :tongue:hehehe  I used to be big on dousing my food in dressings, sauces, etc. and this diet has taught me to really cut way back.  It has saved me tons of calories and helped keep the weight off. I never realized how many extra calories I was eating everyday just in salad dressings alone!  And here I thought I was being "good" eating salads, but still not losing!  I have learned a lot from this diet and I am way more conscious of what goes in my body.

Hi Webfairy!!  It's me again:dizzy: lol.  Another question for you.  I am getting tired of making salads when I have a 4 from veggie column, so I was thinking a stirfry.  I bought some Becel Oil.  100% canola and sunflower Oils.  It's 80 cals for 2 tsps with 9grams of fat.  Do you think I could use this to do a stirfry?  Does any1 else us a little oil?

ibelieve - Oils are really not allowed overall. Some might use a tiny bit, but the calories and carbs add up.  I have used PAM lightly and it works fine. You know how we can have under 10 calorie drinks?  You can use low fat/fat free broth that is under 10 calories, and stir fry in that, and you will be completely safe.  That is probably your best bet.

Thanks webfairly.  I decided to play it safe and just used a squirt of pam and cooked with a lid to steam the veggies.  I did use some bean sprouts tho which are not on the list, so hopefully that will not affect my progress.  We will c 2morrow lol

Hi WebFairy
I do bring around nuts with me at work or going out...it's becoming like my purse or phone...just have to bring it around with me. The problem at work is not that i don't have anything to eat ( i plan ahead, so if it's time for fruit i'd have a fruit cut up and kept in a container ) the problem is that i forget to eat.. until my stomach rumbles and i realise it's 4 hours since my last meal! I'm trying hard though....

Thanks for being so helpful and friendly....u're like the angel of this forum

It looks like today will be one of those cycles where I have a small loss. That won't be too bad as long as I'm losing. I was at 170.8 last weigh in.

I had some plans this week but they got canceled and that's kind of a blessing in disguise cause I would've deviated.

Tomorrow is weigh in day. It was supposed to be today but I repeated day one so I can have a 3 day cheat weekend. I'm pretty much done eating for today. I didn't drink much water so I hope it doesn't affect my results tomorrow morning.

Finished my 10 day cycle yesterday. Weighed myself yesterday morning instead as I had a work related dinner yesterday that i couldn't get out of. I lost approximately 4 pounds (my manual scale isn't too accurate) Not too bad yeah?

Considering I deviated from the plan for a few nights, and took protein at times when i was supposed to take all veggies. :chewing:

Having said that, i did stick to the food list as much as possible (95%!) and stayed away from complex carbs (rice/pasta etc)

Will be having an audit the week after next, so it's super stressed and busy at work, so i've decided to drop the meal plans, but still keep to the food list and try to eat 4-6 times a day. Hopefully it will keep the weight off, if not more losses??!

Hope everyone else is doing well...

I weighed in this morning, and I'm down to 169.8 from 172.4. Wish I could've lost more but I'm below 170 again.

Not bad considering that I deviated one day.

Good Morning all.  Finished my cycle on Friday and ended the 10 days at 235.2.  Slowing down a bit so I thought I would give myself a break and take Saturday and Sunday off.

Still ate foods off the food plan, but in no particular combination or hours apart.  Did go out Saturday night and had chicken wings but with not sauce, just dusted with spices.  Got up this morning to start another cycle and am down to 233.  Am leaving for Cuba on November 4th and my goal is to be able to get the seat belt done up without having to ask for an extender.  Went to Calgary in July and had to ask for one as it was about three inches too small.  Slow but steady wins the race right?  Hope everyone has a good week!!!!!

ibelieve - yes slow and steady it is....I was thinking myself, if i lost 4 pounds on average everytime i did one cycle of BC, i'd reach my goal in 80 days  (not including cheat days)

How many lbs does it take till people notice you've lost weight?

I'm up just over 5 lbs since last cycle. Hopefully I'll still have a good net loss this coming cycle. Today is my first day back.

I just started selling Mary Kay products, and my director always meets at IHOP. I was there this morning, and today I was good. I had the 2 egg breakfast with 2 bacon strips and I asked them to hold the toast and hash browns.

I just had my mixed meal for lunch. I had some cream cheese with Splenda and cocoa powder, which was suggested by Annie. I used to be reluctant to try real cocoa powder but I was really craving chocolate. I've lost weight in the last 2 cycles so it hasn't affected my losses. I only recommend minor deviations like this after 2 or 3 cycles though. I had that cream cheese mixture with cherries.

Today I had a minor deviation. I had some of those Welch's dried cherries. My lunch was as handful of macadamias because I was on the road practically all day. On the way back I had to stop at a grocery store and I saw a bag of those dried cherries and had them with 2 slim jims for my mixed meal. I thought the dried cherries and slim jims would be a better choice over a bag of chips or stopping at Burger King for a burger and fries.

I'm not eating anything else for tonight since it's getting late.

This cycle has just been bad. I deviated on Sunday afternoon by having dinner at a local diner where there is a small but very delicious variety of food. I had a burger and fries with a small strawberry shake. Today was a stressful day and I had a medium oreo sundae shake at Burger King. I dare not weigh on until Friday morning when I officially start my cheat weekend. I'm switching over to the DG next Monday since I miss BBQ sauce on my meats and frozen yogurt as a treat.

Today is day 10th. Depending on how I feel tomorrow morning, I might thrown an extra 11th day but if by the time I'm ready to eat breakfast, I'm tired of the diet food, I might start my cheat weekend. This really hasn't been a good cycle or good 10 days for that matter.

UGH! I'm up 3 lbs! I'm not completely surprised though... I'm switching to the DG next cycle.

hello all! waves

I am actually new to here but glad to see many other people doing Beyond calories diet here. I just finished 7th day of BC and lost about 5 lbs so far. I have been strictly eating 6 meals a day, at least 2 hours apart (most of the time it was 2:30 hrs) I was hoping I would lose about 10 lbs, but i guess that is a bit impossible. But I am quite satisfied atm. losing 5 lbs per 10 days sound very incredible anyway. The reason that I haven't lost as much as i expected is because I was using too much canola oil for my food. I find all the vegetables and meats taste better when I use some canola oil. I actually stopped using it yesterday because my friend suggested 0 calories oil spray (you can get this from walmart)

I still have 3 more days to go so i am hoping to lose more~ woot!

oh great thank you for your warm welcome! ;)

It is unfortunate to say that my 8th day was totally ruined because my friend's mother brought me some delicious JapChae (this is a Korean traditional food basically made from sweet potatoe) and I was eating that too much at once. Moreover, my friend invited me for a pizza party so I had to eat pizza as well. I guess i will tell my friends that they need to help me lose weight and not to make any tempting offer.

I was stressed for 7 days actually that i needed some emtional support. I think I need to learn how to deal with the disappointment that comes from "fail to follow the diet plan" because this will happen to me anytime.

I would love to hear more stories from other people, especially how they deal with rejecting such delicious tempting offer (such as "we are having a pizza party come over and join us!) and how to emotionally deal with stress that comes from the weight loss. any tips will be appreciated.

Here is 4 things I am going to do now:

1. I am going to resume my 9th day diet and will finish this 10 complete diet anyway.

2. I will understand that few extra ruin day will not make me feel like a loser and will try to do it better next cycle.

3. When I am stressed, I will just let it go and eat the food i want and won't be feeling miserable.

4. I will try hard to eat little at once when I am eating other food

I have used FL4I for 3 cycles already
and it is torture. It is the same foods
all the time and I don't cheat and only
lost 4 pounds because i think i got sick
of it and never really ate so i somehow
gained it all back? But yes it is rly hard for me
and i wanted beyond calories but i don't want to
pay 55 dollars for it AGAIN.. Can someone help me with how
i can get it without paying for the whole thing again? THANKS

for those of you who want BC trying going to ebay, you might find it there much cheaper.
