Sweet - Robert (losinglbs.) is right... since you are on the BC, you should space out your meals every 2 to 2.5 hours (probably 2.5 if you get hungry in the evenings). I was on the DG and ate like this: 9:00, 12:00, 3:00, 6:00. Sometimes I might be 1/2 later on a certain meal but no more. That worked perfect for me. I usually go to bed around 10 or 10:30 at night, and I usually don't get very hungry later in the evening, like some people do. If I do, I just drink tea to hold me over. I usually make one of my Teavana teas that are like dessert and it really does the trick. That is what helped me. So if you like to have something a little later, then just space out your meals accordingly. "They" say it is not good to go to bed until 3 hours after eating. So that is another thing to keep in mind.
Robert - Thanks for your nice comment! I'm touched!
Sweet & Angel - About being inspiration... I love that! Thank you! What better compliment can you ask for? You will find that when you lose your weight, YOU will be someone else's inspiration. You won't have a choice... it will just happen. So many people have said that to me since I lost the weight. And their lives changed, also, when they lost weight.
I am so thankful to have found FL4I, and just as important, this forum! We are all each other's inspiration. We all have different circumstances, different rates of losing, different struggles/weakness, but we come together here to share and encourage (and sometimes whine and cry ). And we all truly care! Sometime it's harder for others in our lives to relate to our dieting, and at times we get opposition. But we always know that when we come here, we have fellow dieters that understand. It really helps the whole process. So hang in there everyone and MAKE IT HAPPEN!

| I have been spacing my meals 2.5 hours apart, However I'm planning for the last 3 meals to only be 2 hours apart so that my last meal will be earlier in the evening. The last meal is the only one I get to eat with my daughter (I work long hours) and 7 is a better time for her.

Hi All,
Just catching up on the 10 days I have been away on vacation. Internet connections are few and far between in the back of beyond in Ireland
Congratulations to all on losing weight since I last popped my head in. I am at the end of the 2nd cycle and have my weigh in on Thursday morning. I found this cycle especially hard as I was away and was tending to eat out quite a bit so trying to stick to BC was tough as most of what they serve up in restaurants has some form of batter or heavy sauces topping all the meals.
It will be interesting to see if I lost anything at all. I probably stuck to the diet 80% of the time. Here's to fingers crossed on Thurdsday morning.

I think you'll be surprised to find you still lost a good portion of weight stephen. I'm surprised you even were able to stick with your diet 80 percent of the time. I try very hard to stick to the diet when I'm eating out but all that bread in front of you is very hard to resist!
Sweet -- I think that works fine! I usually just eat my next meal whenever I feel hungry which ends up being around 2 1/2 to 3 hours after my last meal. I also try to stick to a 9/12/3/6 time frame and it varies depending on when I wake up. I eat a banana or apple or drink crystal lite water at night if I'm hungry.

Thanks for the information about the 3 hours. That fits in perfectly with my new plan to eat my last meal at 7. I don't get hungry in the evenings and if I feel like abacking I find my tea is enough to satisfy me.

Cheers Robert (LOSINGLBS). I was just looking for the post you mentioned on HIT (High intensity training I think it was) I really want to start working out whilst on this BC diet as well and if that means high intensity training 3 times a week then that would be perfect.
Any recommendations on what to look for on this subject would be appreciated as I
know little about it. I think you mentioned a post by someone else in the forum on the same topic.
Thanks.

I have to eat all my meals at the planned times because I get busy and forget to eat, then my blood sugar gets to low and I have to eat something sugary (like juice) fast.

Sweet...I found my low blood sugar cleared up on the DG...the only hard day is fruit day...I can get headachey or shaky but even that has improved. I can now go 4-5 hours between meals if the last meal was protein. I used to have to eat every 2-3 hours! This diet can heal your metabolism if you stay away from refined carbs on choice days. Adding more protein and having only complex carbs is key. I found that my body had to learn to burn protein efficiently...as it was used to burning mostly carbs. I NEVER drink juice now because you will have a blood sugar crash as it comes back down again...so will eating any sugary food on an empty stomach. Even complex carbs can be dicey for you in the beginning without protein eaten with it.
I hope this helps. I am doing amazing now and have gotten off sugar...I use Agave nectar...as it does NOT raise the blood sugar!! GI of 11
I ALWAYS carry those wrapped cheese sticks(like string cheese) or raw almonds with me in my purse. YOU MUST carry these too so you eat before your blood sugar takes a dive...you have to break that up and down cycle so your body can heal...and it can!

Thanks for the info, before this diet I never ate carbs by themselves but right now on BC I don't have any mixed meals. I have veggies alone, protien alone and fruit alone. I'm ok after a protien meal but I can't last much more than 3 hours on a veggie meal. I only drink juice when I'm already low because I don't like juice much. I am hoping the lack of starch will help my hypoglycemia but I think it needs more time. I'm glad yours is better, that gives me hope that mine will improve too. :-)

Big Weigh-In Number 2
Hi All,
I have to admit to being pretty nervous stepping on the scales for my second cycle on the BC. As I said previously in an earlier post I was on vacation with my wife and family for the last 2 weeks. What this meant was massive temptation and eating out regularly. We were invited to BBQs, went to restaurants etc.
I suppose I managed to stay on the BC diet for 80% of the time.
So I hopped on the scales this morning and guess what......
I lost another 7lbs
So in the last 3 weeks I have completed 2 cycles. I started on 245lbs and at the end of Cycle 1, I weighed 231lbs and now weigh in at 224lbs. So overall that's a loss of 21lbs. I ideally want to get down to 195lbs by the end of the year but am hoping to complete that target earlier.
Looking forward to the cheat days today and tomorrow then I will be onto the 3rd
cycle.

Thank you for asking. I've decided to do a modified cycle. Steve from much earlier posting was doing the dg cycle using the BC diet. This allows me to spend my cheat days with my daughter.
The last 2 days the scale showed no movement so yesterday I doubled up on the walking with weights and I actually used the weights when I cleaned my house last night. This morning I made a few threats to the scale and when I got on I was down 4/5ths of a pound, making my total 7.2 lbs. I'm hoping to get up to 8 before my cheat day weekend.

I know I shouldn't be bummed but I came so close to my goal, and fell short. Its ok though I have a new goal. I plan to use my cheat days sensibly enough that I don't gain any back.
I'm donating blood saturday so by next Thursday I should know if this diet has helped my cholesterol.
Something else to look forward too.

I'm so very disappointed. I've lost only 3 pounds and I followed this diet religiously. How could this happen. I didn't cheat at all and I even worked out every day.
I'm so upset. I don't think this dieting thing is for me anymore.

Angel - Congratulations on your 3 lb. loss. I wish you weren't so disappointed. I hope you don't give up and throw in the towel already. Give it a chance. Is the alternative more appealing? Please don't compare your losses with everyone elses. You did lose 3 lbs.! That is great! Sometimes our bodies take a cycle or two to get used to this. And, there could be other reasons... we just don't know exactly right now. If you want to talk about it and try to figure it out, let's see what you did and see if there is another idea. If you really want to lose, we are here to help and encourage you. I think you can do it. I KNOW you can do it. It's up to you if you still want to try. But you CAN lose the weight. So come on... give it another cycle, ok? What have you got to lose, but the weight? Besides, have you measured yourself at all when you started? Some losses show up in inches and not always so much on the scale. SO you have no idea if that is happening to you if you haven't measured.

Angel...I want to give you some "food for thought"
You probably didn't gain this extra weight in one week ...and the rate at which you gained may be the rate at which you lose it. For instance...you may have only gained a pound or two each week. In that case...three pounds in less than two weeks is a very good loss. Many of us here are not fast losers (and probably not fast gainers either...we have resistant metabolisms that want to hold us at our weights...even over weight...the good news is...you probably will not regain fast either if you stay with the principles of these plans) I can speak for many of us (Annie, AGL, Kitty and Cubs and others)....we have lost our extra pounds...BUT...we did not lose as fast as some of the others here. So the million dollar question for you is..."Do you want to be slim and trim and healthy? And are you willing to do it at the pace of your own body...no matter if some weeks are slow and some faster?" If you want a "get slim quick scheme" you may not find one. Slower losers still lose weight...just not as fast as some...no matter what diet they try...I know I have tried so many diets that I have lost track These plans are the best that I have tried. I do think that you should try the DG as that works very well and most of us started there and not the BC. The DG teaches the principles and takes away the choices...it also has fewer meals. Anyway...just wanted to encourage you to rethink this whole thing. The advertisements out there for all plans promise you the moon...but realistically...we just have to keep going no matter what and do the plans until we reach goal. The good news is...if you stick with it...these plans WILL allow you to reach goal without a lot of expensive foods, diet pills or going hungry....and will teach you a way of eating that will keep you slim for life.
Just my 2 cents...I hate to see anyone give up because their body doesn't lose 10 pounds a cycle. Please go to the weight losses per cycle thread and read...many of us posted 2-3 pounds per cycle and still reached goal! It's all in our attitude !! So if you can really celebrate a 1-3 pound loss because any loss is a good loss..LOL...you will arrive at your goal!
Hugs

Good morning everyone - Boy howdy, have I been MIA. Lots of posts to catch up on again.
Angelize - I definitely agree with everything Sunshine said. She knows from experience, as do many of us here, that no diet in and of itself is going to miraculously pull this extra weight off us. It's hard work and it takes a lot of willpower to make such a major change in our lifestyle. The best news is, this crazy FL4I plan is a great blueprint for the way to eat for the rest of your life. I don't know how much weight you want to lose, but I do not think you could find a better plan than this one with which to do it. And did you decide to do the DG this time around? I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the results if you do. I know that I could not have been at all successful with the BC plan had I not done several DG cycles first. It may not have as many food choices, but it lays out what to eat so well that you don't need to think about it - just follow the directions.
Congrats everyone on your excellent losses! I actually lost 2.6 pounds myself this time around. Back down to my lowest weight as of last Thursday. Now I just need to plug along and maybe squeeze just a little bit lower this time. DH and I stopped at a fruit stand on our way back from Rainier National Park yesterday, so I am fully armed for the next three days of - fresh peaches and cherries.
Hugs all around,
Annie

Thanks! I am happy with this loss. To be honest as long as I'm loosing I'm happy, even if its little. I'm 15lbs away from a plateau that derailed my last diet. However I am hope full because I'm doing every thing differently.

Thanks all for the support and encouragement.
After a lot of thinking and rethinking this weekend, I've decided to do the DG again. Today is my first day.
The last time, I was really sick on this diet as I have a history of ovarian cysts, and I think this may have aggravated it to a point that I ended up getting surgery. Apparently the cyst had to have been there for months, but I then did this diet and it seemed to have aggravated and I've been scared to try this diet again. (It probably wasn't the diet, but I think since nothing else had changed over the last several months, and then I did this diet and got really sick, I may have associated it with it.)
Either way, I've decided to try again. Let's see what the next 11 days hold. (Hopefully a loss that is more than the 3 pounds!) LOL.
Have a great day everyone!

That's the spirit Angel!! Good for you Girl!
BUT...don't get back into that frame of mind where you have to lose a certain number of pounds each time to be happy...your unique body knows how fast is healthy for you to lose....so follow the diet closely and then trust that you are losing at the perfect rate for you to be healthy on this plan ! I had many cycles where I only lost 1 or 2 pounds...BUT...the scale was moving in the right direction...AND I was losing sizes and inches faster than pounds...so measure yourself and try on clothes that were snug when you started....don't just go by that mean old scale!!

Thanks for the pep talk sunshine. I really needed to hear that today.
It CAN be frustrating when you follow the diet and only lose 2-3 lbs. But as you said, the scale is moving in the right direction and that is the important thing.
Even though I want to get rid of the extra weight once and for all and stay there, it's hard sometimes to do so good and see such little movement. Words like yours are inspirational to those who get a bit discouraged (including yours truly).
Thanks for all the support here! Don't know if I would be able to stick through it without my girl GerberaDayzee and all of you here!
I hope the DG works for you angel!

Hi Jewel...it is just like walking... ...if you just keep putting one foot in front of the other, you will eventually get to your destination! Some of us are and some are ...but we are all on the weight loss road and we will all be waiting for each other to cheer each other across the finish line !!!! We are all a bunch of losers...heeehee...who are winners! Glad I could make you smile and encourage you...some days are easier than others and some days ...well we all struggle with those.

Angeliize, I just got through typing a heartfelt post to you, and this darned forum threw it out to cyberspace. Ugggh, I am so frustrated right now. Anyways, in a nutshell, I am so happy you are sticking with this plan. One thing I wanted to say to you was that if you give up on this, you will only take longer to get to your goal. I remember many times thinking, "If only I had started this ( a diet) last month, 6 months ago, last year... I would aready be thin". So when I finally got to my emotional breaking point and said "no matter what I am seeing this through!" I did. Like Sunshine said, don't put a loss per cycle number in your head. You are setting yourself up for disappointment. You ARE losing, and you WILL continue to lose if you follow this plan. This IS going to get you to your goal. And where else can you go that you will have such cool cheerleaders like us, rooting you on? We want to see you reach your goal. We are all different, in the rate at which we lose, but we did lose, so trust us... it works! We don't get paid for doing this. The FL4I authors are probably getting rich off us but, I can speak for myself, I am doing this because I am so thankful for what it did for me, that I want to help others get to that same place. I know others on here feel the exact same. We truly care about each other and want everyone to experience this feeling of happiness and health that comes from losing weight. So hang in there GF! You CAN do it!

Wow. You guys have truly been great. It's been a rough day (not because of the DG), and I so wanted to eat something (anything) that was comfort food, but you guys have kept me strong.
I really do appreciate all your encouragement and support. Without you all, I would have quit. It's easy to just say "forget it" when nobody else is watching or cheering you on. With great friends and support like you all, I'd feel like I was letting everyone else down, not just myself.
It's onward and upward (or should I hope downward) from here. It's great to know that I've got my own cheering section to help me get through the rough times.
There are no hug emoticons on here...but hugs to you all for being there and being sooooooooo understanding.

Hi...just wondering something...i'm on Day 2 of the DG (fruit day) and can I have tea with the fat free half and half cream on this diet, or was that only for the BC diet?
Thanks.

Angeliize - That was on the BC. You are allowed any drink that is 10 calories or less on the DG, so as long as it is under 10 calories, I would think that might work. Read the label on how many calories a teaspoon is so you know. You know, I always wondered, what if you had a 10 calorie drink and did that 10 times per day. They don't say how many, just that you can have any drink 10 calories or less. With all your water quota you need to meet, I wouldn't think you wouldn't have that many additional "other" beverages, so maybe that is what they are thinking. Anyways, I would just be on the safe side and keep it to a minimum (with the fat free half and half). Just my two cents.
