Hey Sunny Sunshine,
You and the Gang are always always welcome ...how fun our tea party would be . Actually from our tea party, we can go to Zeva's place to have some homemade Jam/Jellies and pickles and then raid Kitty's Cakes and loot down some of Web's tea treasures....and from there..........heehheeee
But honestly, I did miss my buddies a lot.....while studying like crazy for months. Exams did go well , results will be late august, keeping my fingers crossed.... And lucky me, DH was nice enough to take care of our boy (will turn 3 in august) while I was studying in the library for hours ...
So....how you doin..... (you know....joey style )

Fingers crossed on your test

| I just purchased the FL41 and the beyond calories last week, but then I caught the flu, just now getting over it. I kinda started the bc diet yesterday then fell off of it. I need to motivate myself more. I'll start again tomorrow. I see alot of people have had good results with this diet.

Hey everyone! Just popping in to say I am still hanging in there. The scale has not moved at all! I am on day 5 & followed pretty strictly ~ not sure what to think.I do feel slimmer so maybe the scale will catch up soon.
Sounds like everyone is doing well ~ cheers.

Day 6 for me so far. I had my choice meal for breakfast. I thought I'd burn more calories if my heaviest meal was my first meal. I had cheddar cheese scrambled eggs, cheddar smokied, and my custard topped with strawberry puree. I mixed the remaining strawberry puree into some diet 7up. It was really yummy.
I have 4 PP meals and 1 VVVV meal. For my VVVV mealn I'm making the modified tortilla soup again but this time, I'm using bottled salsa. I looked up the calories, and it's only 10. The seasonings only add a trivial amount and overall it's just tomatoes, onions, garlic and jalapenos. It's just more convenient that way.

For my VVVVV meal I had the modified Tortilla soup and salad of baby lettuces with some WF calorie free raspberry vinaigrette. Technically, the soup would've been enough had I not omitted the celery but I don't think celery belongs on a Mexican inspired dish. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I had the recipe for tomato soup I posted rescelently for about 2 days. After following it to the letter, it tasted great, and even better the next day. The leftovers for the tomato basil soup actually taste better after 2 days.

Hey everyone!
Hope your cycles are going great! I am still kinda in a rut this cycle, have dropped a pound finally!! It just might be one of those cycles for me ~ had this happen once before. Oh well.. I am really watching my meals more closely just to make sure I am not overeatting.
I think I will just stay on plan thru the weekend & not have any cd's then I always have next cycle to get things moving better. I aso was thinking of throwing a fruit day in there..actually that might help. What do you think?

P-Rose,
So far, I've only lost the weight I gained back on my cheat weekend. I've been in a rut for 2 cycles. I lost 2 inches and I haven't gained them back though.
You got me thinking about throwing in a fruit day too.

This cycle I haven't been craving chocolate that much. My T-O-M cravings this time around salty crunchy things so I've been munching on the cheese crisps that Annie mentioned on the recipe section. As far as sweets, I've only been craving key lime pie and I found an alternative. I sprinkled some True Lime powder to my cream cheese, splenda/vanilla base and it hit the spot.
Annie; I tried the Neufchatel cheese and there's not much difference in flavor from cream cheese. I liked it but Costco only sells cream cheese in bulk.

Hi BCer's!
Well my cycle was a wash. I admit I was not tottaly focused or motivated at times. So to kick start next cycle I am doing a fruit day today & possibly a veggie day prior to Monday. I did have one other cycle like this previously so not terribly worried. I am confident the fruit & veggie day will help as a body cleansing.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi PR...I know it can be hard to get refocused on doing a cycle after reaching goal and and maintaining...it is like you can lose the plot and fool around and get nowhere. I find that if the scale creeps up enough I get a shock and do a strict cycle that really gets me back on track of eating right and stopping the careless habits that start to creep in. I feel so much better when I am on this WOE...the bloat of poor choices is soooo not worth it
We're all cheering you on for a good cycle once your fruit and veggie days do their magic..heehee

Hi guys,
I'm new to this site and am going to start the diet on Monday with hubby. I have a question that I hope someone can help me with.
It's regarding coffee. I think it's OK to use artificial sweetners, but what sort of cream (powdered, liquid) can I use that is allowed.
Thanks

Llynn,
Any creamer is allowed. They're not specific. Just try your favorite creamer and if it affects your losses, try something else.
P-Rose,
Today I was supposed to start my cheat weekend but I decided to make it a fruit day today, after reading your posts and have the rest of the weekend free. I didn't even bother weighing in but I measured myself and I'm down 2.5 inches on the waist. Tomorow I'm weighing in. This is the first time I do a fruit day with no sandwich.

Omayra,
Thanks for the info. That always seems to be a big problem on most diets. Like I said I'm going to start the diet on Monday and I hope I get the sort of results everyone here is getting.
I had back surgery a year ago and since then I've put on about 50 lbs. and I keep trying different diets and the only result I get is that I wind up heavier when I stop the diet. So when I read about this plan I thought it sounded great and easy to do.
How long have you been doing the diet and how much have you lost?

LLynn, I tried the DG first and in 4 months I lost 24 lbs, reaching my goal weigh. However, I was off the diet for one month due to an out of state move and I gained back 14 lbs. I just got back on the DG about 3 months ago and this was my second BC cycle. On my very first BC cycle, I lost 5 lbs on the first day. This last cycle I lost 3 lbs on the first day. The lighter you are on this diet, the slower the weight loss. When I started the DG I weighed 178 so in 4 months I dropped to 154. Right now I weigh 166.4 and and I've plateaued a bit. I've lost inches though.
Bottom line, you gotta try to stick with it as close as possible because the minute you get off a diet for more than a couple of days, you will gain the weight back.
At least all the FL4I plans give you something to look forward to. If all diet plans had cheat days, the plans will be more successful.

Sounds like you did pretty good on the diet. We are starting it tomorrow, so I have to go to the store and get all the goodies.
By the way, What are BC and DG?

Hi Lynn and Welcome!
Not Omayra, but I'm on the BC plan as well. BC stands for Beyond Calories and DG for Diet Generator, which you access online for every 11 day cycle on the original FL4I diet. Whereas with BC you plan your own meals for 10 days, using the menu guide to choose appropriate foods from the allowed foods list. Did you purchase the additional Beyond Calories plan, or are you planning on doing the original 11 day plan?
Be sure to check in at the General Discussion thread as well. That's the one everyone reads pretty much on a daily basis. Be sure to check out the tips and guidelines thread as well - excellent info there. And don't be afraid to ask questions - We've all been new once! This plan really does work.

Hi Annie,
Thanks for writing. I'm figuring some of this stuff out. I actually started the diet today and I'm doing the BC. I still have 2 more meals to eat and I'm sooooo stuffed. I looked for the discussion thread you told me about, but there are sooo many rooms there, are you talking about a specific room that I should check?

Lynn - Here are some links to get you started. You should try to bookmark the first one. That is the index that lists all the threads. Beyond Calories and General Discussion are usually the top ones. Pick the last page of any thread that lists more than one page, unless you want to read some of the older posts, which can be very helpful also.

As far as the being 'stuffed' feeling is concerned, you'll get used to eating smaller portions as you go along. Sometimes for a meal all I eat is a handful of nuts and a small piece of cheese (like a one ounce wedge of Laughing Cow Light) or one small piece of fruit or a glass of V8 (for a multiple veg meal). That helps me get in a meal when I really don't feel like one. Then other meals, like at dinnertime, I eat larger portions. You'll find out what works for you after you get used to the plan. And then I predict you'll love it like I do!
Have a great night!

Hey BCer's! I am back on board for a perfect cycle!! I did the fruit day then the veggie day afew days later. Today went great, actually got busy outside & not have one more fruit meal to squeeze in. I will probably just pop afew strawberries later.
Hope everyone had a great holiday & is off to a good start (fff) or a good end (sv) to their cycle!
I hope to loose 4-5 pounds!
Cheers~

Hi PRose and welcome back! I'm here again after goofing off for over a week - company and car show. Now 3 pounds have got to go before I can make any headway on a new low. I got down just under 140 last cycle and want to get back there soon so I can work on another 5 pounds.
First day went pretty well - stuffed myself with cantaloupe, pineapple and berries. And just finished some leftover grilled beef tenderloin with grilled brussel sprouts, tomatoes, and green onions - yum! One more meal - PA - to go.
Hugs!

I'm going to weigh in at the beginning and end of every cycle but I'm not going to obsess over my weight that much anymore. I've accepted it's going to take a lot longer for me to get out of this plateau.
I'm doing another BC cycle. I just finished day 1. If I don't drop below 165 by day 10, I'll throw in a fruit day. That really helped last cycle.

Hi Omayra - Well, that was one of those accidental meals that turned out fabulous!
We were given a frozen whole beef tenderloin in cryovac. I'm talking about a piece of meat at least 1 1/2 feet long and big around as a large grapefruit. I've been waiting for someone to take a power saw to it and cut it into manageable sized chunks. Well, in lieu of that, DH said, "Why don't you just cook the whole darned thing?" So, I salted and peppered it only, and put it (frozen solid) in my Traeger pellet grill using mesquite pellets. Took about 1 1/2 hours at 375 degrees to cook to 122 degrees (which raised to 140 after resting 10 minutes) - just right for rare. Served with horseradish, it was delicious. And Lots of leftovers! Surprise me that I could cook it frozen and it didn't dry out - very juicy.
So, the vegetables - I have a pan for the grill that has holes in it - perfect for grilling vegs, fish, shrimp, etc. I tossed a bag of frozen brussel sprouts (the steam in bag type), a couple handfuls of grape tomatoes, and a large bunch of green onions cut in 1-inch lengths with some olive oil, s&p, and a shake of red pepper flakes. Put that in the little pan and into the grill for only about 15-20 minutes. They were done just right, with a slight smoky taste to them. You can do that in the oven as well, and you can also add cauliflower florets, zucchini, yellow squash, chunks of bell pepper, any veg you like. I usually do them in the oven for a little longer, depending on what temp I'm cooking them at.
Sorry, not really much of a recipe, more of a 'thrown together' thing. But hey - sometimes those turn out the best.
Sorry for the long post - careful what you ask(sic) for!
Hugs,
Annie
PS - You know, the extra fruit day might be just what you need to rev things up a bit again. Sorry you are experiencing such a long stall. Have you tried any supplements? I've been taking Vit. D3, Vit. A, Zinc, and Kelp - and I think it's helping me. I only lose a fraction of a pound each cycle, but it's better than I was doing.

Annie, I guess I'll have to see what I can cook up with a lean cut of beef and some veggies. :)
As for my stall, I've been using supplements. On my cheat weekend I used that fat burner I was talking about, and once a week I use a skin applicator from that same company, it's called "It Works!" The burner helped when I had a large PP meal on Monday but on my cheat weekend it didn't work. It makes sense because I know diet supplements aren't meant to work when you snack mindlessly LOL. I don't use the fat burner every day though. The applicator help me lose 2.5 inches and I gained .5 inch back over the cheat weekend. Just google Ultimate Applicator. I have not read a single bad review on it.
You're right, a couple of fruit days might be just what I need. When I was about 49 lbs heavier, I broke the stall by eating 900 calories a day max for a month (with a cheat weekend). I know that was not wise and I'm not proud of it. I think having a couple of fruit days will be healthier.......

Omayra...you might want to alternate pure protein/fat days with your pure fruit days to challenge your body.....or do fruit until noon and then only protein and fat(no sweet carbs like bbq sauce ketchup...strictly PF and low low glycemic veggies...like salad or zucchini etc) until bed. I know this can work to break a stall. If you do too many days the same your body will lose but it will also adjust and lower your metabolism. Changes challenge the body so it does not settle into a specific rate.
Just a thought to consider.

Sunshine,
That sounds like a plan. I think I'll try it the other way around though since veggies/protein make for heavier meals and one loses weight faster when they eat lighter meals in the evening.
I don't always do that but I'll see how this works to break this stall.

Well, I deviated big time yesterday. I pigged out on baked goods atg yesterday's church breakfast. I had no intention of going but my DH wanted to.
I know my losses won't be significant this cycle so for the next 5 days, I'm going to have some fruit and veggie days to cleanse my system and hopefully jump start my weight loss.
I've had enough of going through all these cycles with no significant results.

Hi All! I'm on day 6 of BC and haven't weighed myself yet...want to wait till the day after day 10 to get the full effect. I'm also big on surprises so anything that will keep me going..right? I'm starting at 152 (ugh!) at 5'4...I am really wanting to get this weight off...it has been a long process...in high school (which was 5 yrs ago) I was at my highest...around 190....and over the past couple of years have tried everything and anything to lose weight....so hopefully BC will be my last life style change....which i feel it is....i feel I can maintain this kind of life style forever. So anways, i'm glad to be on this journey and the gifts that it will bring me.

Welcome Baxter - and good luck to you! Sounds like you are doing okay - to be on Day 6 you must have already mastered the 6 smaller meals/day. If you have any questions, feel free to ask - we're all here to help and we learn something new all the time. Be sure to introduce yourself in General Discussion - that's where everyone checks daily - lots of good advice there, as well as the Diet Tips and Guidelines thread if you haven't checked it already.
Omayra - Don't feel bad. I wasn't a good girl this weekend, either. I tried. We went out of town and I bagged up some almonds, packed a wheel of Laughing Cow Light, and found veggie chips at the health food store to keep me away from the bad stuff on the road. But once we got into our hotel Friday night and found a restaurant I had a moment of weakness and ordered pasta for dinner. Then Saturday we were on the run all day without easy access to water or my little bags of legal munchies. So, no 6 meals/day and no 84 ounces of water. I just decided to do Sunday's menu all over today and wind up on Day 10 Thursday instead of Wednesday. I'm up 2 pounds since Friday a.m. and a little over 3 pounds from my last lowest weight last cycle. So, got some catching up to do. I'm thinking about a DG cycle next time around, unless things start looking up by Friday. Good luck with your fruit and veg days. If that's what works best for you, it should help. For me, the lean protein works better. I guess we're all different.

Hi Everyone,
I've been looking through a lot of posts and recipes as well, and I didn't see any recipes for fruit day so I wonder if what I'm doing is legal or not.
I cut up different fruits that are allowed and put some splenda on it and poured some diet sparkling raspberry kiwi tea on it and baked it in the oven till it was all soft, about 30 to 45 minutes.......yummooooo
Also....I have a dehydrator and I'm going to buy a bunch of apples and make apple chips so for my next fruit day I'll have lots of crunchy chips.
Hope this is OK, and does anyone have any recipes or ideas for fruit day?

There are recipes for fruit day in the recipe section but it takes a while to browse through all of them. What you're doing souds great. I'm tempted to buy a dehydrator.
Lately, I've been pureeing strawberries and mixing them into some sprite for a yummy fruit drink.

Llyynn - Look at the Goochi Apples recipe I posted on Page 3 of the Recipes thread: http://www.caloriesperhour.com/forums/forum3/528-3.html - it's about 1/4 of the way down. It sounds similar to what you made, (which sounds really good, btw!). Omayra also makes a sangria with wine and different fruits and diet lemon-lime soda or gingerale. I've done that and it's really good as well.
Omayra - I bought some veggie chips at the health food store for this weekend and they were really good, but they were fried in canola oil. I would definitely like to have a dehydrater as well - as much for the veggies as for the fruit.
Cheers!

Hey Gals...just remember dried fruit is super condensed and can really pack a calorie and sugar wallop...that is why they say "fresh" fruit. It is really easy for me to eat a half dozen dehydrated apples...but no way I could eat that many fresh. Just really watch your portions if you go that route and drink tons of water to fill up.
My 3 cents

Hey Llyynn, I've been making my own fruit smoothie..and it is yummy....i use pineapple and frozen strawberries.......you'll need some of the pineapple juice to help blend it all together but turns out great and is a nice sweet treat. I add splenda as well because I need it to be a little bit sweet but that is a personal choice.. you can also use different types of fruits but I find that pineapple blends well with a lot of fruit. Also, i've used a little bit of diet sprite/7-up (any citrus flavored soda) to give it a little bit of a zing! Hope this helps.

So true, SS. I made the huge mistake of buying some dried cantaloupe last weekend. I knew better, but dang! it was good.

Burges, I recommend buying a butternut squash, microwave it, bake it, or boil it; whatever works best. Once it's tender, peel it and puree it in a food processor and sprinkle some splenda and pumpkin pie spice. It's a nice pumpkin pie alternative and I think it's a good breakfast option for this awkwards situation.

| I found many recipes for sorbet. I can easily substitute the sugar for spenda but I'm wondering if they can be done without an ice cream maker. Has anyone tried to on fruit day or for BC when you get fruit?

Omayra...I sometimes freeze fruit and then puree it in the blender...sorbet style...you can then put it into cups and freeze with a popsicle stick or refreeze and then reblend if too hard.
I bought a Donvier handcrank icecream maker used/cheap. It works great for freezing fruit or yogurt.

Thanks sunshine, I'll try that until I can get an ice cream maker.
I know I can't go more than one day living on just fruits and non-starchy veggies. Today my day consisted of apples, strawberries and veggie soups (homemade tomato soup and homemade french onion soup). Do you think it would help to alternate between fruit/veggie days and all protein days (one fruit/veggie day, one all protein day) to break this stall? Right now alternating between BC and DG is just plain not working. I'm only losing the weight I gain back over cheat weekends. I'd think what I'm doing now is shifting. This is what I plan to do until I see a considerable loss again, then I'll get back into the cycles as I normally do.

How much has everyone lost on BC? or DG? Since this is my first cycle of BC...I hope to lose 5 lbs....whether that is reasonable for me or not....we'll find out...I've definitely noticed getting down to a lighter weight means I lose weight slower but I'm in this for the long haul.
Also, a question about cooking. I've been using tiny amounts Extra Virgin Olive Oil to use for cooking frozen spinach and other veggies in a pan or coating veggies to put on the grill. I know in the past I've heard EVOO is a good natural fat but I've also heard that whole wheat bread was better for you so...i'm at a loss. Any thoughts?

Today my day consisted of apples, strawberries and veggie soups (homemade tomato soup and homemade french onion soup). Do you think it would help to alternate between fruit/veggie days and all protein days (one fruit/veggie day, one all protein day) to break this stall? Right now alternating between BC and DG is just plain not working. I'm only losing the weight I gain back over cheat weekends. I'd think what I'm doing now is shifting. This is what I plan to do until I see a considerable loss again, then I'll get back into the cycles as I normally do.
Omayra - I just did a google search on "stall weight loss" and this is the first link I came up with:
http://www.lowcarb.ca/tips/tips008.html
Admittedly, it's directed toward low carb dieters which we are not, but there are some interesting points that may help. I was particularly interested in the comments about eating protein vs. carbs, especially at night. See Point #5 under "Helpful Suggestions" as well as other spots in the article where it talks about needing protein disbursed throughout the day to promote weight loss. We're all different, but I do know that I almost always weigh more for at least one and sometimes 3 days after eating mostly fruits or vegs. Others find just the opposite.
I'm not promoting this for you by any means. Just thought you might like to see a different slant on what works for some.
Hugs,
Annie

Welcome Baxter...the losses per cycle vary for each individual. Go to the thread that posts the weight losses for everyone each cycle and you can see the variation. If you have more to lose... you often lose more than a smaller person per cycle. I have lost all my weight...but I am petite and 56 so it took me longer than some. The one thing I can tell you is...these plans do work no matter your age, size or gender. I also use EVO in small amounts.
I hope this helps.

Baxter04 wrote: How much has everyone lost on BC?
Hi Baxter - I'm not the Queen of Weight Loss by any means. But I think I'm considerably older than you are and I don't expect to lose like I could when younger. I feel very fortunate to have continually lost at least 1/2 pound each cycle. But I guess my average is still just under 2 pounds per month, with more at the beginning and less now that I've been at it for over 4 months. I don't see why you can't expect to lose 5 pounds. I guess you'll just have to see how the first cycle works out, and then you might have a better idea.
I also use small amounts of EVOO or organic coconut oil when cooking eggs and veggies. (Some may say that's why I'm not losing as fast as others.) To follow the FL4I plan strictly would be to limit or exclude these fats altogether, but I don't feel that's healthy for me.
Good luck to you - Where there's a will, there's a way!

| Thanks for that link Annie! I was browsing through the Atkins site yesterday and I was tempted to try an induction phase for 2 weeks then get back on the BC/DG cycles. I've already tried everything else.

Good Morning (well for me anyways!!)
Got thru day 1 of BC. The choices were so much easier (so far) Supper was the BEST . I put a roast in the oven and then took turnip and cauliflower, mashed them together with some garlic and onion powder and a little EVOO and TADA mashed potaotes!!! and then I got to enjoy BEETS I love beets!!! There are sooo many more veggie and fruit choices. I will miss the milk and the oatmeal and the frozen yogurt
I only got 5 meals in though but I got a late morning start. Do you still eat about every 2-1/2 hrs apart like on DG??

Welcome to BC, Snowbird! I agree - the variety of choices is so much better. And I love beets, too!
I try to eat every 2 hours, starting between 8 and 9 am., with my 5th meal being dinner with DH between 5 and 6 pm. That leaves me with a snack meal around 8-ish. Sometimes if my times get screwed up or I'm not really hungry, I'll have just a little "meal", like a chunk of cucumber and a few grape tomatoes, or a glass of V8 for a meal full of vegs - and that could be even just 1 to 1 1/2 hours after or before another meal. But I'm not always able to get all 6 meals in, either.
