Hi there-

I was glad to see more postings since I last looked. It seems like the postings are slow-coming. Well, I didn't start the diet yet. I thought I'd get through the holidays before beginning. Get all the temptations out of the way. So, tomorrow will be the beginning of yet another weightloss attempt. I hope this is the one that will work. Like I said, I had lost a little bit of weight with exercise and some diet. I stopped exercising a few months ago due to a hectic schedule. This was after 3 years of being a very avid exerciser! So, imagine the change to my system. I've gained a good 20-25 pounds over the past year. Now, I'm starting all over.

My question for all of you is this.... I printed my first menu off and it is mostly eggs. I like eggs, but there are days when I am having them for 3 meals! That is a bit much. I must have selected eggs a whole bunch when making my choices. Anyhow, I ended up  creating a new menu that is much more palatable. Do you think I can just start with the 2nd menu, or do I need to go with the first no matter what? I want to follow this as closely as I can so I know I am getting the best results. Any opinion would be helpful.

Also, to MSUTX ...... how closely have you followed the plan. You've lost a total of 51 pounds in 9 months. That is nothing to laugh about. That is great. I was hoping for an average of a 5 pound weightloss with every 11 days. Have you been doing one round after another?

Thanks for all of the postings. I think  this website will be motivational for me. :-)

Curious if you really mean the website vs. the forum.

I don't think anyone on the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet has ever posted daily (or thereabouts) in the diary forum. That would be very interesting to follow.

Wishing you success in the new year!

Hi there.  Thanks to everyone for posting your results on here.  I read all the comments and was encouraged by what I read.  I knew after Christmas would be the time for me to get on some kind of weight loss program and exercise plan.  I got an elliptical machine and am now on day 2 of the diet.  So far, I have been enjoying the food.  It's a basic, simple plan and easy to follow.  No special wierd foods to go out and hunt down.  I wish you all continued success and I'll let you know how I did at the end of my first 11 day cycle.  Happy New Year!

Peter-

I meant the forum. I wish people would post more regularly, though. I think it could be a great tool for success on the program. I want to know SPECIFICS. I want to know how long and how faithfully they are following the program. How much weight they've lost. Any suggestions and recipes ..... especially for ground turkey.

There has been a little bit mentioned on substitution of a protein for a protein, carb for a carb. Are there very many people that are substituting and still losing.

Not that any of this matters. I hope to have a success story of my own soon! I have a good feeling about it. I cannot wait to begin losing!

Hey big loser,

Do I follow the menu plans religiously? No..I have to say I don't always. For example, one of your days consists of 3 egg meals. Now that is based on the answers you chose as your preferences to make up your menu. Again, the menu is randomly selected by a computer program and just splits it up by carbs, proteins, and fruit. Let's be honest, you probably wouldn't want to eat 3 egg meals a day anyways (especially since there are no portions). So substitute a protein for a protein. That's what I always do....instead of eggs.. eat a salmon fillet, chicken, mixed nuts, etc. But never substitute a carb for a protein (vice-versa).  Also be creative with your fruit and veggie day. For some reason, this is my favorite day just because I feel lighter and it kind of detoxs the body, in my opinion. Have like a vegetable soup, mixed veggie stir fry, fruit salad, etc. As far as doing round after round, sometimes I get thrown off track.. For example the holidays that just passed. Christmas was not one of my cheat days, but how can holidays NOT be a cheat day! loL! So basically what I do when I have a unscheduled cheat day is to have a fruit and veggie day the day after and do a little bit more walking. Like I mentioned before, it's like detoxing the body. Just get back on track and go back to day 1 and start the cycle over. Just don't make this a habit! Anyways rember to always drink your 10 glasses of water/day!!! Best of Luck and Happy New Year!!

Hey Nana,

As far as substituting...I do it all the time and I'm still losing the weight. Again, walking is a big part of losing the weight along with the diet. The diet helps with portion control and teaches you how to spread your meals out and not force it down in my sitting. Eating every 2 1/2 - 3 hours is key because it helps control your appetitte and maintain your metabolism. Good luck!!

Opps answered that question to the wrong person, it was actually relating to bigloser's question......but congrats nana on starting the program! Yes the foods are very basic and can fit into any recipes! The elliptical is a great piece of exercise equipment! But remeber to still do your walking! Good luck with your weight loss and keep us updated! I only have 12 more pounds to go!!

Hello Everybody!!!

Happy New Year!!!

I am starting back on the diet after an approx 20 days off and when I weighed in this morning I found out I have put everything I had lost back on!!!!

The first week I lost about 7lbs, which was great, especially as I don’t actually have that much to lose, so I thought it would be much slower... anyhoo, I ate like an absolute pig throughout Christmas and New Year, but decided to take advantage of the fact that the 2nd was a Monday and party’s over, to start again. I am super motivated, and have prepped all my food, looking forward to that “slim-feeling” again!!

As for advice, I stuck as religiously as possible to the diet when I did it, though I did make a few changes, for example today mine was a tofu sandwich and I have made wholemeal pasta with tofu a little homemade tomato + asparagus sauce. Also I was supposed to have banana and strawberry shake for brekkie but strawberries are out of season here so I substituted them for kiwi and banana (kiwis always seem to be in season somehow!)... anyway, I do agree that it works so long as you stick to substituting a carb for a carb and a protein for a protein. Drinking the water is very important too, as is the walking. I am going to do a month of just the walking and then I shall join a gym once I get slimmer and do an aerobics session every evening... I REALLY am going to succeed this time!! New year, New start and all that!!!

I’ll look forwards to hearing about everyone’s progress and difficulties, please mail me if you have any questions, I’ll do my best to answer them!

Take care and good luck,

Antonia

Thanks msutx,

I have yo-yo dieted for a big part of my life so now at this stage of my life my body clues in pretty fast if I try to go on a diet and my metabolism shuts down.

I decided to give this diet a chance because it sounds like it should keep my metabolism fooled.  IF it's even alive anymore!  :)

I'm on day 3. I've got about 25 pounds to loose.  Think it can be done by summer?  I'm hoping to use this diet as a learning experience as far as portion control is concerned!  I can honestly say I have NOT been going hungry the last 2 days and have not been craving the usual sweets!  That's a good thing.

Madcow,

Good to see you didn't let your weight gain discourage you and that you are back on track.

Good luck to all and have fun slimming down in 2006!

I knew that the new year would bring out new blood!

I am back.  I joined this list in October and gave up checking when postings waned.  Also, I have been off the diet since November 15th or so.  Started in August and lost about 25 pounds by November.  Then had a string of excuses to keep from going back on.
  1. Business trip (eating on their tab and stopping when I was full?  I think not. :D)
  2. Thanksgiving
  3. Holiday season (snacks at work all the time)
  4. Vacation
  5. Christmas
  6. Might as well wait for the new year
I know doubters of this diet will eat this up, but I did gain 10 pounds.  But honestly, I ASKED for it.  I did not want to gain weight, but I did NOTHING to stop it and really did everything wrong: No water, no walking, not stopping when I was full, drinking Cokes, wrong foods, not waiting 150 minute between eating, eating desserts/snacks, etc.  It was FUN and really is the same thing I do every year.

The difference this year?  I know the 10 lbs will be gone by end of the month if I can work out (not rocket science, but it is dark so early and sunrise so late that it is hard to find time working full time and walking especially when it is cold.

So some common questions that I thoguht I would weigh in on:
  1. By nature, I prefer to be strict.  But I do freely substitute one of their foods for another similar food.  We also do not eat ham most of the time.  To salty for me!  I smoke a pork loin and we just love that!
  2. I have always had a hamburger bun and do not intend to change with my results being so positive.
  3. Recipes for turkey posted here: http://www.caloriesperhour.com/forums/forum3/528.html
Best of luck to you all and I hope to be confabbing with you guys regularly.

Happy new year and here is to less of each of you by next year!

Okay, I'm also back on the diet -- I enjoyed the holidays but, to my surprise, only gained a pound back!  So, I'm still down a solid 14 lbs. even after "fudging" (and I do mean that literally) over the holidays.

I'm excited about being back on the diet and exercising regularly again.  Good luck to all.

Hi everyone. I purchased this plan back in April of last year. I lost 23 lbs. in two months and just loved it. Then for some unknown reason, I stopped. I have gained back 12 of those pounds so started back on the plan yesterday. I have a lot of weight to lose and I really love this plan. I find it so easy to stay on because I am eating all the foods that I chose myself. So there is no excuse for me not to stick with it. Hope everyone is successful!:)

Hi everyone-

I just wanted to let you all know how my first day went. It was great! I have not been hungry at all! The only thing I found hard to do was actually remember to eat every 2.5 hours. I went 3.5 hours on my last round. I hope that doesn't screw anything up. The food was good .... no complaints. I had scrambled eggs with onion and green pepper for breakfast, cottage cheese, mixed nuts, and for dinner I had a grilled tuna sandwich. So far, so good.

I am just heading out for my evening walk. I will keep you all posted. I hope all is going well for everyone.

It's well cool that so many people are back on this, that way we can all help each other and motivate each other!!!

I am on day 3 and so far, great, I love it, I don't feel deprived at all, and to be honest I get such a downer everytime I look in the mirror that it just motivates me to stay on!!!

I definitely feel slimmer already, which I suppose is normal after eating everything in sight for 3 weeks...

I haven't been sticking to it exactly, just because sometimes the generator goes a bit crazy in my opinion, for example last night my dinner was fruit and soy milk, breakfast today was fruit salad and then lunch was another fruit with soy milk... oh and breakfast yesterday was also, fruit salad. So today I have swapped fruit and soy milk for a tomato, mushroom and herbs omelette made with 2 eggs and no oil, so that is like protein and carbs, which should replace the soy and fruit quite happily!

I did this the first time round when I lost 7 lbs and it worked fine that way anyway, so no worries!!!

Right, here's to a new slim year for everyone!!!

Ok, so yesterday was my second day and it was difficult. I think my body is going through withdrawals. Not necessarily physical withdrawals, but habitual withdrawals. My bad habits wanted to kick in. I was hungry. I ate until I was satisfied, but I was hungry shortly after. I just had to tell myself 2.5-3 hours wasn't very long to wait until the next meal.

My last meal was at 5:00. The evening was very difficult for me. I was sooooo tempted to just cave in! I DIDN'T! I knew I would be fine if I could just make it through those few hours. And, I survived! I am not starving this morning, I've already been on my walk and feel better. I WILL do this for the 11 days. I am determined to see if it really works so I don't want to cheat or give any reason for it not to work.

I hope all of you are doing well. I don't want to hog up the message board so I probably won't write again until I weigh in. Today is day 3.....8 more to go!

Great forum.  I've read through all the posts in this thread and I must say I'm very curious about this diet!

All of you who have had experience, could you let me know if it might work for me?  I want to lose the last 10 pounds.  I'm healthy in terms of BMI--I weigh 116 and I'm 5'3", but I have a lot of extra padding that I've had all my life.  I really hate working out, but I know I have to to lose these last ten pounds.  These are vanity pounds to be sure, but since I'm an actress, it's important for my career.

My diet is pretty healthy, although the past six months, I've been really pigging out... when I eat, they are healthy choices, I just have no portion control and I really like to eat at night.  It's hard to stay to the 1200 calories a day!

That's why I think this diet MIGHT work.  If I have a solid plan everyday that a computer spits out for me, then I'll know exactly what I can eat and I'm pretty sure I can follow the rules.  It's when I'm not specific that I cheat.  I don't eat meat, but I do eat fish and sometimes eggs and no dairy (lactose intolerant)--but looks like from this thread that that won't be a problem on this diet.  And the major thing is I almost never cook.  living in NYC and running around, I usually end up eating deli sandwiches/salads, etc.

Anyway, anyone out there who only has ten or fifteen pounds to lose who has found success with this diet plus exercise?  I do cardio 30-45 minutes and weight training (moderate) 45 minutes right now.  I just really want to get in the best shape of my life and get rid of the flab and gain muscle, since I have almost no muscle mass right now!

Thanks!

So I was at Barnes and Noble and searched online and I think this diet is based on the Rotation Diet.

The Rotation Diet a/k/a The T-Factor Diet, written by Martin Katahn, works on the basis that weight loss is best achieved by rotating or varying the amount of calories we eat. Dieters vary the number of calories they consume during a three-week period (the rotation for women is 600/900/1200 calories; for men, 1200/1500/1800) for 3 weeks. [website: wwnorton.com/tfactor/rotation.htm

Does this sound right to all of you who have tried this?

Loser gal:

I think this will work for you.  I began this program at the beginning of November and had about 25 lbs to lose.  I've lost sixteen and am still losing.  I did lose a chunk at first and the rest is coming off in 2-3 lb increments which is fine by me.  Before I started this program, I was  doing heavy-duty cardio 5 times a week and cutting calories -- believe it or not, that didn't work for me.

Following this plan and walking (I do throw in some weights) has jump started my metabolism which seemed to have been MIA for a couple of years.  I find it easy to follow and have only found myself hungry a couple of times.

Hope this helps -- good luck!

I just finished my 3rd - 11days.  I lost about 5 lbs the first week, gained back 3 and since lost it plus.  I am down about 7 lbs now and I too found the biggest influencers on the loss is exercise and water.

Does anyone have any advice on cooking for your family while on this diet.  I have a really hard time making a nice meal when all I can have it cottage cheese.  Also, if you add a few veg when you have a protein meal eg: can I have a couple slices of tomatoe with my chicken.  Do you think this will stop the weight comming off?  I find that other than the fruit/veg day, I don't eat many veggies; where I used to eat at least 5 servings/day.  Any thoughts?

I started this plan last Monday, (the 2nd).  I had a dr.'s appointment on Wednesday evening and I forgot that they would be weighing me.  I decided I wouldn't look at the scale and the nurse didn't tell me what my weight was.  I didn't want to be bummed out so soon after starting this diet.  BUT me, being the brat that I am just had to look when I was walking out to the exam room.  I had lost 8 pounds.  I know you're saying water weight, but it doesn't matter to me.  I need to see an appreciable loss quickly in order to jump start my motivation and keep the momentum going.  Incidentally, when I got home I got on MY scale to see if it would register differently than my dr's.  It showed the same 8 pound loss.  I haven't weighed myself since then, though.  I am not on the best of terms with scales, but my rings are now sliding around my fingers all the time.  I will take that as a positive sign.

I was catching heck from the Dr. about my cholesterol and he was urging me to lose 20 - 30 pounds for that and the fact that arthritis is starting to creep up on me.  I have found that I am not able to be as active as I have been in the past.  We have horses and it kills me to have a hard time climbing up on them now.  So I also have that additionally as motivation.  I think when you start having to cut back on what has always given you so much pleasure, it really hits home.

At any rate, I told him about this diet and he asked me to explain it to him.  I did and he sees nothing wrong with it for me.  I have no health problems otherwise and it is a plan that suits me.  I don't have the time to be messing around with weighing portions and cooking meals with odd ingredients.

I have also found that my appetite is waining on it's own with this plan.  I have followed the rules to the letter.  Not a bit of cheating on it and I have not had any hunger pangs between meals.  It IS however, hard for me to try to be eating every 2/1/2 to 3 hours as one other poster said.  I really haven't been that hungry.  I have found that "Season Salt" is invaluable to me, however, on the veggies when I stir fry them either alone or with the turkey.

Hope this helps someone.....anyone......

By the way,  GREAT SITE PETER!  Happened on it by accident, and yes, I was a good girl and have found your other areas to be very informative and OK....sometimes even interesting!  hee.hee.

Hi there, my name is Ange and I am from down under New Zealand, i came across this site wheni googled WL4I, i started today and would love to be able to join in on your forum to have a little support group. It was interesting to read about subsituting proteins for proteins etc, we dont get turkey mince over here so i have to use chicken mince so it was a great to hear that people have swapping proteins for proteins and still getting results. I do have trouble with the 2.5 / 3 hour break thing, i am a dental nurse and dont have time at work to sneak out from surgery to eat, but my understanding from reading the diet was that u had to wait a minimum of 2.5 hours???, I have done every diet in the book as im sure alot of u have, and have been a member of Sureslim before, i have 20kilos to lose which is alot (not sure how to convert to pounds) we use kilos over here, have had weight problems since suffering a major depression and having to go on antidepressants, i am great now but concerned about excess weight, especially around my midsection. Anyway thought id fill u in on a bit about me and i hope to maybe meet some new weightloss buddies on here so we can help each other along. Kind regards Ange:cool:

Hi there Sandy, thats great u understood it the same as me, its just not possible with my line of work to eat every 2.5 hours, so i just try and spread it out as evenly as i can, try not to get too paranoid with it, then i just get stressed and give up!!! ha ha, hope u feel better after your popcorn binge!! yum caramel, gotta love it!. hve a great next couple of days, regards Ange :D

Hello!!

You're right, it says on the site that you have to eat at least every 2.5 hours, not that you HAVE to eat every 2.5 hours! I think it's just to make sure you leave a correct digestion time and don't just eat and then eat again after 1 hour...

I am on day 8 and it is going well, but I must admit I went nuts at the weekend on the wine front and drank loads, so I can't expect to lose a lot. On the positive side, I feel slimmer and my clothes are looser, so I'm sure I've lost something, and anyway, I still have 4 days left (including today) and I am doing it perfectly, drinking tons of water and will go walking tonight...

I'll keep everyone posted on the progress and let you know if I have managed to lose anything by Friday morning!

Take care and good dieting!

I am new....first day on the diet.  Not too bad, a coworker who is also a very good friend went on it with me.  We are lucky, have a full kitchen at work so we can fix our meals here.   Question:  I noticed reading the postings on this topic that everyone referenced ground turkey.....my printout has no ground turkey  -- the hamburger is not  meat specific.   We raise piedmontese beef so I will probably substitute some of it for the meats as it is lower in fat and cholesterol than roasted skinnless chicken breast.   Since it is so lean and healthy, I don't think that would be an issue would it? We butchered a steer this last year and ended up with over 600 pounds of beef in the freezer.....guess I will have to substitute some steak for ground meat anyway.

I have a lot to lose -- over 100 pounds (that would still be in the 170-180 range) I was there about 10 years ago after doing the "diet Dr" thing with all the funny colored pills that had me bouncing off of walls and only able to eat about 700 calories a day.  Gained most back within two years and then diagnosed with high blood pressure.   Lost 42 with ATkins -- gained 60 back......up to my current weight.   Now showing signs of diabetes.   Dr. put me on 1200 calorie diet- did it for 3 weeks with NO weightloss at all and I was miserable.   Thought I would try this.   Lower carb is better for me as I am showing diabetic tendencies.   On top of everything else, I am allergic to tomatoes....this is one of the few diets I found that didn't have tomatoes in every meal.

I am really hoping this works.  I intend to try and do 30 minutes on the treadmill tonight...might get energetic and do some before work tomorrow if I get real ambitious.

I am glad I found this site.....I even signed up for ediets but couldn't seem to lose.

Question #2:  are there any "free" things on this diet...for instance sugar free gelatine?  In the liquid state it is less than the 10 calories specified in the allowable drinks section -- I am wondering because it might make the first few days a little easier to know if I am hungry in between meals that I could have a little taste of something so I am not feeling deprived.

Thanks for being here.

envirodiva: I don't think there are any "free" things.  I think the idea is to have a completely empty stomach between meals.  I know that when I eat, I am hungry and I have to eat slowly so I don't overeat, because amounts are not restricted.  I found it hard in the beginning because I am a muncher, but once you are used to it you will probably find it much easier to diet.  I am on my days off now and find myself snacking all day.  I am very tired today (because of the snacking on carbs) and just not comfortable.  After my next 11 days I will be more sensible on the days off so I feel better and have more energy.  This diet does teach you to eat properly and listen to your body. We eat to live; not live to eat (I think Socrates said that, or something similar).

Also, the hamburger is an actual hamburger, like McDonald's or home made, but with the bun, condiments etc.  I ate it and still lost weight. :)

dar: good luck with the diet.  It sounds like you are off to a great start!  This has been a great source of information for me.  You can find most answers to your questions on previous posts or other members.

Hey guys!

Glad to hear of all of your success stories!! Right now I'm actually on a 11 day cruise and then off to 4 nights in Vegas (really bad for the diet - haha!) , but I've been controlling myself. I probably gained like 3 lbs or so..but still have kept up with the walking and all. I guess this is a great test, but I know when I return home, I'll lose the weight I gained from the trip. Have I splurged? yes! I'm on vacatioon- why not?! What's good about this is that i know that I can always go back to the diet and keep my weight down without ruining my vacation (thinking about what I eat). But yes, it is challenging at times- example: Midnight and chocolate buffets!! Well just wanted to say hi to everyone on the forum- We're in Curacao now and it is such a nice , beautiful island! Off to Aruba tomorrow!! Well keep up the great work!

Hey everyone!

I'm a newbie to both the WL4I program (just started today) and the forum.
I am glad I found this site; it's answered quite a few of my questions :). I've also read most of the posts and saw many of the progresses some people have made. Hopefully I can do the same. I'll keep everyone posted.
I was just wondering if there is some way to cook or prepare cottage cheese or do you just have to eat it as is :S?

Thanks! Hope everyone is doing great with their weight loss

Hi Sugar...welcome to the diet and the boards.  As far as cottage cheese goes..I don't know of any other way to eat it other than mixed in with other foods...which wouldn't be allowed if that meal is to just be cottage cheese. I tend to like it plane though...so it doesn't bother me.  Maybe someone will respond with some grat idea that will benefit  us all. That is what is so great about this board.

This diet is wonderful...I'm sure you will experience what we all have. Good luck and hope to hear good news from you soon. By the way..if anyone is every online and would like to chat...sometimes you need to vent  to more than a message board. I am on AOL...Dar2144 and would be happy to talk to you if I am on. Have a great diet day everyone!

Hello to all!!

This is my first day on the diet!  I am very excited and optimistic.  I actually enjoyed my banana milk shake for breakfast.  Like many of the people on here, I have tried everything.  I hope this works for me.  I like the plan because it seems simple.  I don't have to guess what I can or can't eat, I don't have to weigh out my food, or follow serving suggestions.  The only thing that I may find difficult is knowing when to quit eating.  Any suggestions?  I generally don't know that i'm full, until I'm full.   I will post my results as I get them.

I look forward to the results and to the discussion here.

Hey All,

Well, I started this diet on Monday so this is day three. So far, I feel very bloated and I've gained weight (2lbs). I've been experiencing abdominal cramps and pain in my left side. I've been following the diet to a 'T' with the exception of cream and one sugar in my coffee (of which I have two a day and won't give up!!)... has anyone else experienced this?

My friend has mentioned that digestively speaking when you change your diet to include more fibre (fruits and veggies) that this can be expected to a degree.

My sister has been on this diet with a great amount of success and I'm keen to see results myself and was very happy to find this forum as the website provides minimal guidance.

I haven't felt hungry nor do I crave anything in particular but do find the food rather dull (then again I'm a sucker for rich sauces and melty cheesy things).

I have about 30lbs I'd like to trim off (I'm currently 180lbs at 5'7'' and would like to get down to 150lbs) and this seemed like a good way to go.

Thanks for all your input and suggestions and good luck you all!

Dar:  I have always gained on the days off; up to 5 lbs.  The good news is that after the first day back I am back to where I was when I started the three days off.  I am assuming that it is water weight because I don't restrict salt or sugar.  Don't worry and do your best.  The first 3 days off for me were during xmas and I did eat too much.  The next 3 days off was just prior to my monthly :( so I ate tons of carbs and I actually felt terrible because of it.  I have found that even though I am not dieting on the days off, I still try to control what I eat and don't overeat because you will feel sick if you do.  Has anyone else found this happens to them?  I am on day 2 of my 4th cycle and have lost a total of 8 lbs (average of about 2 lbs/week) which I am totally happy with considering that I get to "cheat" and eat out every now and then (hamburger for me usually means whopper at BK, but I have found that I can't eat all that white bun)

Its good to see so many people on this diet.  The more support the better!  I think posting our results is motivation for everyone.

Thanks Sandy and Bedbug.....I've never been on a diet where I was allowed to cheat...so it does freak me out a bit. BUT. I AM SOOOO EXCITED to be able to eat a cookie if I want it. I do plan to eat what I want..but I also plan to eat sensibly. I think one of the reasons this diet is so doable is that you aren't tempted to cheat because you can see an end of the cycle when you can. I absolutely love this diet. I have never gotten results like this before. Today is Day 11 for me and I woke up this morning another lb. lighter..so I have lost 9 lbs. I will let you guys know how much I gain..since I'm sure I will gain something. Thanks for the comments and encouragment..it sure does help.

Mc Something....I too was worried I would still overeat at my meals..since I usually go from hungry to stuffed. What I do is try to really listen to my stomach. Insead of eating till full...i eat until I am just no longer hungry. Does that make sense to you??? I know it sounds like the same thing..but for me it is not. I have never once felt stuffed..so whatever I am doing seems to be right. As soon as I don't feel hungry anylonger....I stop. Trust me..I could continue to eat more...but I don't..and I have never once been hungry on the this diet.  Good luck ..and let me know how you do.

See ya all soon.... :P

Hi kids!

Here I am at day 10 of my first cycle and I am too afraid to weigh myself anymore.  I started this on a Monday, got weighed both at the dr.'s and at home that Wednesday and lost 8 pounds.  I know I've lost more, but I am too afraid to get on the scale since Friday will start my 3 days off and like several of you I know I'll freak if it shows one extra pound.

I have found that the urge to :pig: out on ANYTHING has left me.  I haven't had any desire for bread or potatoes or sweets really since day 4 of this.  I truly don't think the cheat period will be a problem for me.  I would rather have the extra energy and lack of digestive problems since starting this than the old foods.

An idea I saw for cottage cheese is putting a bit of cinnamon on it.  Haven't tried it myself, so can't vouch for it.

I did find something that really helps me get all that water down, though as I'm not that crazy about it plain.  I do use lemon in it, but also I found a Peach flavored diet iced tea here.  Since I don't need the extra caffeine and such as I drink a lot of tea anyhow, I put about one part tea in a glass and fill the rest with about 6 parts water.  Gives the water enough of a twist that it goes down really easy.  My skin looks SO good now too from all the water.

Hope that helps somebody!

Hi McSomething. You & I have a few things in common, We both started the diet on Monday, I have 30 pounds to lose, and I also won't give up my cream & sugar in my coffee!   I don't know anything on the subject of what you're experiencing and I'm hoping for you that someone that knows a little something about it will post a message for you. I am thinking more along the line that it could be an ailment of some sort that you're experiencing and maybe nothing to do with the diet at all. But then again, most of us on this diet can attest to the fact that we're pretty much shocking our system and every "body" handles things differently. I can say for me that I've been experiencing periodic headaches (and I've never been one to get headaches) so I tend to think that I'm having them due to sugar withdrawals possibly so.... I look at it as a good thing (weird as that sounds) I wish you the best with it all and hope you post again with an update!

OK...here I am to post my results from my first cycle of this diet.  After 11 days I am happy to report that I am down 9 1/2 lbs and one size. How can you beat that in 11 days!!!!!!! Bev...I never gave  up adding to my coffee. I use fat free half and half and one sweet n low. I LOVE COFFEE...I have also used a bit of the 0 carb flavored creamer too. It doesn't seem to have hurt me in the least. I too have 30 lbs to lose....20 1/2 to go :P

Bev: I love tea but cannot drink it without cream & sugar too; but I measured one day and 100 calories is what it added up to.  Now I use artificial sweetner and fat free evaporated milk.  I find now that I like it even better though the sweetner was a bit to get used to.  It does disolve faster though.

Dar:  Wow, 9.5 lbs. Excellent start.  Hint: don't weigh yourself until day 2 of your next cycle.  I find that actually seeing the gain is depressing, even though it is water (no one can gain 5 lbs in 3 days!)  Keep drinking water.  I also found that I have to slow down and taste the food; that way you realise that "yea that cookie was good, but not good enough to have another".

Sandy

PS: I was down another pound this morning.

Hey All,

Well, after checking a calendar, I think the abdominal cramps/pain/bloating have more to do with PMS and possibly needing a dose of Metamucil than the diet itself, which is good news indeed!

I've decided to not weight or measure myself again until the end of the 11 days. I found myself a bit hungry last night but not enough to cheat, so I sipped on some herbal tea instead.

Found that heating up some ham/pineapple for a few mintes in the microwave and putting some salsa on it tastes an awful lot like hawaiin pizza...food for thought.

Later!

Hi all,  Thanks for your input! Well, today is my fruit & veggie day. I read a post on here somewhere wondering if potato was allowed on veggie day, well according to the rules ANY veggie is allowed so being the meat & potato girl that I am, I didn't have to read that twice! However, As most of us know, potatoes are very filling so be careful. (And I say that with experience after todays lunch, oops!) Oh, another tid bit for you butter fans, I used "butter buds" and thought it was great! Of course I was pretty well hungry and everything tastes good then but this really tastes like butter!( 5 cals. per TBSP., 0 grams fat)

I can't help but feel that one big reason the people that are having success with this diet is because they see a light at the end of the tunnel (aka 3 cheat days!) And once they get to their 3 days off, they are very aware of the pounds they just shed and therefore don't go overboard and stuff themselves, I really think that is the key here, yes, cheat on your cheat days and enjoy every bite!  just don't over do it.  And even though the FL4I website isn't as well structured as I would like it to be, It is a well structured diet. Good luck to all of us! Bev

Hello everyone!

Today is the first day of my cheat days and I weighed myself this morning.... well I have only lost about 1 lb!!! To be honest I haven’t done it correctly at5 all.

Out of 11 days, 6 of them I didn’t stick to it. 3 of them I ended up with severe hangovers which means I drank like a fish the night before and ate like a pig the following day. So I suppose I can’t really complain. Oh, I also didn’t do any of the walking that I was supposed to do.

OK, I’m #%@&!.

Anyway, I feel a bit slimmer, though for the life of me I can’t imagine why, and I don’t feel too bad!

I am having 3 cheat days but I am not going to go totally overboard, today I have fruit for breakfast and a hard boiled egg salad for lunch and dinner will be a feta cheese salad. So defo not going to go crazy! And hopefully will be going walking tomorrow if the weather permits!

I have resolved to do better next week. I am not going to go out at all. Monday I shall do my shopping for the week and then every other night I shall just go walking and then home to dinner and bed. All week I shall drink loads of water and I shall eat exactly what my diet tells me to eat.

I’ll keep you all updated.

Good luck to everyone!

Love

Just finished my first 11 days and I lost 9 pounds!  I know the first 3 - 5 was water gain but I was very excited!!!  I did cheat a little - on the veggie day we had company over who made a stir fry - mostly veggies but there was a little chicken and I did have a little brown rice.  The last 2 days I actually only did 3 meals because my schedule did not permit me to have time for 4 - as a teacher I am limited about when I eat lunch so if I am busy in the evening it can mess up the timing for #3 and #4 especially because I won't eat after 7:00 at the latest.  Oh and cottage cheese - can't stand it plain so I added a little juice from my canned peaches - (I know canned fruit too)  I am on my 1st cheat day and I just had my bowl of cereal - I typically eat a high fiber cereal so I was actually getting less fiber on this diet.  My lunch will be the same as I usually do prediet - a salad but I will probably have a cookie or something today.  Dinner is where I will have to watch it.  It's funny, on day 1 I started hoarding items I planned to have on my cheat days and now they aren't all that appealing.  We'll see how it goes with the cheat days and then back on - I want to lose 5 more pounds definately and then 6 more after that depending on how I look.  We are going on a cruise in Feb so I want to look good.

Depending on how bad I am, I do gain weight but only a fraction of what I lose.  And I have not been sticking to the rules on teh days off.  Now I have the right mind set and intend to eat four meals that are moderate.  Example: We have donuts/bagels brought in every Friday.  Last friday sucked walking by them all morning.  Usually i would grab a bagel and  doughnut or two on my off days.   Today I had one doughnut, ate it slowly, and I am done!

I will let you know Monday because we have company in and we will be eating out a bunch. :pig:

I know it sounds gross, but try it in a small proporation and judge for yourself.  We mix it with catchup, oregeno, basil, and onion powder.  It really makes it taste like lasagne filling!   Good luck!

Niccole,

If you are doing okay on hunger, it is easy (or if you can deal).
  1. Don't eat until you are full.  Eat until you are not hungry.
  2. Eat slowly and not in front of TV
  3. Drink a glass of water 30 minutes before you eat.
  4. Use common sense on a serving and then see how you feel.
  5. Arrange your day so you can expiriment.  So I ate two cups of fruit for breakfast and was okay for three hours and could wait another half hour to eat my second meal.  But if I HAD got hungry at say TWO hours, I could eat 30 minutes later.
  6. The more you do it, the more you feel when to stop.  I ALWAYS clear my plate and I hate that!  I also don't like going back for seconds.  What I do is
    • Intentionally serve too little
    • Sit for five minutes talking to my wife or watching TV after I eat it all.
    • If I am hugry, my body reminds me and I go get about a serving that is about one third of what I served the first time.
    • Most of the time I find I am not hungry for more.
Let me know if this helps!
