Hello Sunshine & Leeza!

Browneyed - don't beat yourself up about this morning, we all make mistakes. Personally, I think you should resume with day 4 tomorrow and then maybe only take 2 cheat days. I say this because I don't think you should have 2 fruit days so close together. I had a bad headache last night, too, but I attributed it to too much sugar (the fruit variety) because I don't usually eat many sweets, and fruit has so much natural sugar.  Also, make sure you still get your caffeine if you usually do, because lack of that can cause a nasty headache, too. I think we should all probably take a multivitamin while we are doing this because we get such "different" nutrition every day. One other thing...I think you probably just didn't eat enough to sustain your workout. Either way, we are here for support! I was sooooo tempted to munch last night!!

Today is going well. I think I even feel a little smaller already, could just be wishful thinking. Either way, I am not gonna weight myself for a few more days. If I can get at least 5 pounds off this first cycle I will be thrilled!

Just had my pasta- I NEVER eat pasta- was on the Low Carb thing for soooooo long.

But my metabolism is shot and stopped loosing and started gaining- But that was that and this is this- so keeping positive thoughts.

The headache thing can also be because you are really detoxifying your body when you drink so much water and eat fruits and vegs.  Just a thought.

Found the ticker thing- pretty neat!

Anything for motivation can't hurt.- AWSW:clover:

Thank you everyone, for your kind words of encouragement!  After beating myself up over it, something good actually happened.  Most women will understand what I'm talking about when I say this...I washed my favorite jeans last night.  Which means they feel so much smaller and you have to wear them around the house for an hour or so to "break them in" again.  So you can understand my resentment for putting them on for the first time tonight after their "fresh wash."  Well, guess what?  They fit and they fit good!  No need to break in!  I was like "Go me, go me."  So not that my slip up this afternoon was good, BUT it wasn't the end of all!  I, of course, didn't weigh myslef or anything, and it could just be a fluke, but if it is, that fluke made me feel great.

I had a great dinner with a girlfriend of mine, then we went to a local club/cafe to watch one of her friends band, who was playing.  It was a nice low key night for me.  My friend doesn't drink, so I had no problem ordering a diet pepsi at the bar.  Needless to say, the bartender gave us our drinks for free, and thank god I took a sip before my friend did...he put vodka in them!  That f***er.  I mean, my friend stopped drinking a few years ago for personal reasons and I'm just like "THE NERVE" of that guy.  Ugh, anyway...

Not that this was really so much a compliment, but a guy (about 15 years my senior, mind you) told me I had a nice #%@&!.  His exact pickup line was "Wow, I couldn't help but notice your beautiful smile...but I must say, your #%@&! looks even better."  I'm like, WOW!  Original and classy, I must say---sometimes people don't think before they open their mouthes!

Anyway, tomorrow is a new day and I'm excited to get back on track.  I'm coming out swinging when it comes to fruit day again.  I know what to expect and it's not getting the best of me this time!

Again, thanks to all of you for the encouragement and your words of wisdom.

Hello broweyedgirl

Thanks for the encouragement pep talk.  Since I am new to the tickler system, I have been just posting every single time there is a difference.

Anyone -

As far as the FL4I, I actually tried to start the diet on January 3, 2008.  I weigh myself and I weighed 242.  So I started the day.  By the time I got off work, I was so hungry, that I went to burger king and had a burger, so I figured the diet is ruined now, I might as well start the next day.  But when I got on the scale the next day to start, i actually lost 2 pounds. hmmmm.  So, I started that day on January 4, and have been good every since.  I am more focused now.  I was complaining about slow weight loss, but this morning on Jan 12th, I lost another 3 pounds. YAY

So does anyone know.  Should I start from the 242 or the 240.  I think 240 would be reasonable since I actually started on the 4th.  Also, after my 3 day cheat, I am considering trying the BC - the second system that FL4I has to offer.  Has anyone done any interchanging here?  And one more thing.  I love veggies with a lot of dressing, but I know this is a bad thing.  However, I can get away with eating them with just vinegar, preferrably red wine vinegar.

Anyone - any thoughts.  Thanks, finally155.  Speak it into existence with hard work!

Hey B E G -  Love the jeans story- who can't relate to fitting into your favorite jeans after they've been washed!!  I'd have drunk the vodka- wine substitiute---lol!!

As for the guy with no class- take his comment as a compliment and use it to boost your confidence when you meet a nice fella!

The As Within So Without comes from a book by Emmett Fox written in the 1920's called Sermon on the Mount- it's an American Indian thing- like your thoughts create your life- everything that ever was started out as a thought.  NO I NOT SOME RELIGIOUS FANATIC!!  Actuallly I get more God in my canoe then I ever got out of 12 years of Catholic School!

155- Just start at the weight you want to I say use 242 it's where you decided to make the change.  Best of luck to you.

Well enough of my 12 hour night shift ramblings- Have a great day everyone.

I was also thinking of doing the Beyond Calories.  I didn't purchase it though and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on it.  From what I've read, it allows you to eat 6 times a day.  From most other diets i've been on, I ate around 5-6 times a day and never felt hungry.  Most of my days consist of waking up at 4:30 am anyway, so sometimes I think it would be good to have an extra meal or two throughout the day.

I am just going to stick with the regular FL4I first though and see how it goes.

Yes, fitting in to the jeans was great.  I woke up with a new approach, started at day 1 again after my slip up and I'm ready to go.  I was just going to go on to day 3, but you know what...I AM going to conquer fruit day!  Haha!

As for the class-less guy.  I am somewhat used to comments like that.  About 5-6 years ago I did a lot of beer promotions and local modeling, and I was somewhat used to that sort of thing.  I think one of the reasons I wasn't so concerned with my 25 lb weight gain since then is that I get less of those comments.  But then again, about a week ago I was looking back at some of my photo's and was like "I want to be like that again."  So that's what prompted me to "just do it"

As for the vodka, yes, in most circumstances I would have drank it.  But the fact was my friend had a lot of problems with alcohol in the past, and even though she is young, she gave it up.  I thought it was very rude of the bartender to just "assume" it was ok to put alcohol in our drink without telling us.  Other than that, I'm all for a little vodka.

Leeza, AWSW is so true.  I believe as well that life is somewhat based on circumstance, but more out of what you make of those circumstances.  I have a great piece of work called ATTITUDE.  I will dig that out at some point and post it on here.

Anyway, as always, thank you everyone for your continued support and encouragement.  Finally 155, I would start with 242, but that's completely your call.  You are doing great!

xoxo

Browneyed - WTG on the jeans, I know exactly what you are talking about!

I was thinking more about your slip-up, and you know, that workout you did on an empty stomach after fruit day...well, if you think about it, even with the sandwich we probably didn't consume over 1100 calories that day, and that's estimating pretty high. So basically, you were working out with nothing in your belly. It's not a wonder you were starved!! Next time, I would make sure you ate before the workout, and if you experience that same problem, try a banana. I know it's not on the diet, but it's filling and it can't hurt with all the calories you've just burned off. I used to crave them after aerobics and I assumed it was because I needed to replenish potassium.

That said, we have to remember that alot of these meals seem filling, but are very low on calories...some days we really don't get alot of calories at all. We may slip-up because our body says "hey, I really need some food!!" The best we can do is try to eat something healthy when that happens. I have really pushed myself not to screw up so far, but it gets difficult when I am home all weekend & making meals and snacks for my kids.

Finally155, start with the 242 and take credit for your efforts!! Keep in mind that our bodies can fluctuate daily by a few lbs either way just from water weight, bloat, etc. so you need to count from where you "started"

As far as the sleazy comment from that man...let's face it, we all secretly like to know that we are sexy, and though that comment was pretty cheesy, he was just saying what a bunch of other men there were thinking and were to gentlemanly to say!!!

Anybody else finding out that they have to visit the grocery store alot?? Granted, my kids are eating alot of my grapes, cottage cheese, and sausage....but on day 4 I already have to hit the market again!!

What can I sub for ham slices on my next meal if I don't get to the store first?? I don't think I want just walnuts for my third meal...and the meal after that is green beans and grapes (which I also need more of).

Any suggestions? Larry, you have made substitutions quite a bit, haven't you?

Mamanita, substitutions are fine as long as you don't wind up eating the same foods/meals over and over again.  Your body will get used to them and slow down its metabolism.

If you've run out of ham slices, sub in slices of whatever's in the fridge.  Or do bacon strips.  And remember, you don't have to eat all the items listed for a meal.  Eat more of what you like or have on hand.  Ex: If a meal lists hard-boiled eggs, cottage cheese and ham slices... you can have just the eggs and cottage cheese or any combination.  You can have just the eggs if you like if you're not that hungry.

Yes, we do spend more time in the grocery store, but for me that's because I want the food to be fresh.  So I don't buy 2lbs of roast beef slices at a time, knowing some of it will go bad over the 11 days.  Same with fresh fruit.  As pricey as some of our items are, they are even pricier if we have to throw a portion out.  Try letting your kids know what food is yours - or perhaps buy two of an item and mark one with your name.  So they'll know that that pound of ham is theirs and yours is off limits.  You have to know what's on hand for you.

Browneyedgirl, any compliment is a good compliment - even if it comes attached to a guy in a bar.  But the most important opinion is yours.  If you have positive thoughts, it won't matter what others say or don't say.  It's best not to draw self-esteem from others.  That, in fact, can lead us into situations we'd be better off avoiding.  Just because someone says something complimentary doesn't mean they have your best interests at heart, as you know.

Happy Sunday,

Larry

Hey Everyone--

Yes, I think I will also be at the grocery store more often.  I am planning on going later on today and pick up some more fresh fruit and veggies for the week.  If you don't have ham, I would substitute turkey slices, or something with similar nutritional values.   I just finished a 45min walk on the treadmill and got my 2nd meal in today.  I'm feeling pretty positive, although I know there will be cravings.

Mama, I definitely agree about eating on an empty stomach.  That was mistake #1.  I bet I didn't even consume 1000 calories on my fruit day.  I felt so good that I made it through that, then was up most of the night with my headache and night sweats.  So when I finally got to sleep, I slept longer than I wanted to, then just got up and went to my aerobic class.  Bad idea.  But hey, now I know for next time, and there are NO excuses :)

Oh, and I just wanted to comment again on the sleazy guy comment I told you about.  I mean, yeah, you're right, we all want to feel sexy. BUT---Maybe I'm alone in this category, but isn't it much more fulfilling to get a compliment based on your personality or things that you do well.  Or based on YOU as a person. Such as "You're such a nice person" or "Wow, you're so intellectual."  Haha, I guess that's too much to ask, and that's definitely not a compliment you will get in a bar. I mean, I'm not going to be young forever, and my "rear end" will not look the way it does forever(and I'm not even a fan of my "rear end" anyway).  It would just be nice to have people appreciate "WHO YOU ARE" as a person as opposed to "HOW YOU LOOK"  Just a thought.

I know I've said this before, but thanks again to everyone.  You are all so great!

Hey Everyone,

I was thinking as far as the substitution thing- Pork for Pork- if you don't have ham or just can't stomach another bite of it then try a pork chop or pork tenderloin- it's less salt and has the same nutritional value. Just a thought.

I feel great today.  I had oatmeal- love it- fills me up and gives me energy for the long night ahead.  I find that whenever I get to eat it though- it takes forever for me to feel hungry again.  I feel like I'm eating to live not living to eat which is "a good thing"- eh.

As far as the food shopping goes- once you make a meal that you know is recurring then freeze another portion or two for another day.  I also have taken to freezing baggies of fruit-apples pears and peaches freeze ok and then I add the Non fat cool whip to the fruit to give it some staying power in my stomach.  (the non fat cool whip is allowed on the old plan- not sure about the new one.)   The same thing goes for the vegs.

Have a great night- AWSW:clover:

I just cut up some fruit and put it in the freezer too.  They stay fresh longer that way, and they don't take too long to defrost when you're ready to eat.

I just had my 3rd meal...Chicken with some BBQ sauce, a peach and a few peanuts.  It was actually pretty good and my cravings have subsided.  I get to have oatmeal with my last meal, so I'm excited about that.  Oatmeal fills me up too.

I'm on day 2 of my rest days i'm loving it. yummy XD lol i was cravin a pizza so i got a

thin crust pizza *drool* loved every bite.

But i'm also being careful. I'm eating what i want but within reason. I'm also weighing myself every day to keep track of the pound or three i tack on during. But i weighed my self this morning expecting to have gained some and i'm not at 175 lol thats so funny.

Also, i told my mom about the eleven day cycle but i didn't tell her specifics. She's really happy that i've lost some pounds and is now asking me what i can have haha

Good luck to everyone! I hear lots of great news everyday!

I wonder if we add all our pounds lost together what would that be? Probably amazing amount and somthing we could say thats gone forever

Good luck!

Dark,

I'm so happy you told your mom about your diet and your accomplishment.  I'm sure a huge weight is lifted off your shoulder.  I'm also sure she is so proud of you, and will become even more proud as you get closer to your goal.

Pizza is also my favorite and I will definitely be having a slice to two on my 3 day cheat.

OH Pizzzzzaaaaa!  I can't wait to have a slice- actually being from Philly a Cheeeeese Steak would be good- heart attack on a plate-lol!!

Dark- way to go-telling your momma- contrary to popular belief we are human and can relate to our kids- mine are 21 Katy and 19 Chuck- both have problems with their weight and I told them all about FL4I.  I thought if they see me do well then maybe they'll jump on the bandwagon- hey I'm already making the food so it would be a breeze for them.

I made a Calender for the diet and hung it up so they and my husband could know - what the deal is for that day.  The old FL4I is makes it easy to do this because there are only 4 things per day.  I shrunk the calender so I could carry one in my wallet.  That way if I know I need something for the next day I can look at it and pick the stuff up while I'm at the store.

If anybody wants a blank computer calender I'll email it to you.

I think I'll weigh myself tomorrow- I think everyday is too much but every four days might work-just to see- but it could backfire if I haven't lost any more or if <<GAG>> I gained.  Any thoughts on weigh ins anyone.

Leeza, subbing pork tendeloin is brilliant.  I've got several getting lonesome in the freezer.  And I suppose a lean pork chop is okay - especially if you trim the fat first.  Either will work, baked or grilled, just don't fry.

Also thanks for the tip on freezing fruit.  The remains of my last fruit salad sit in the fridge, a science experiment until garbage day.

Dark!  Good work!  And it's fantastic that you let your mom in on this!  ...I weigh myself when I "feel" thinner, if that's any help.  So not every day.  I'm a big fan of delayed gratification.  Or patience.  So I get on the scale once a week, or if I'm in the mood to double the fun, I go 2 weeks.  That way, if the result is disappointing, you only get hit with it once in 7 or 14 days, instead of every day.  BUT... if the result is great, the feeling carries you the next week.  But that's just me.

Browneyes... thank you for your support of... er... my support.  Even support needs supporting.  Truly, I do appreciate it.

Hey Lisa?  "Dennymas"... where are you?  How are you?  And Jane?  Fatchops?  Haven't heard in a while.  Hope the battle goes on.  But if you're having a rough time or something, let us know!  Maybe we can help.

All best,

I like the weekly thing with the weigh in- not too much so you're not tracking yourself, enough to show progress and smooths out any slight gain bumps- yeah that's the ticket!

Well, I'm here once again and just one more pound lighter, but still I know it's better than none at all.  Everything just seems to have slowed up. May be something to do with the few (ok, there may have been more than a few) chocolates I just couldn't resist over the weekend:yum:.  Got a disapproving look from hubby and he pointed out that he didn't see them on my list of foods!!!  He wants to help me, but doesn't like getting snapped at so didn't stop me either!

Welcome Sunshine - I love some of your tips - especially the cottage cheese one.  I found on my first cycle by day 4 I did not want to look at another portion of it, and have never selected it since, but putting it in a blender, adding some lemon and some cinnamon/nutmeg may just do the trick.

I think it was you had the idea for the baked apple too, so I've gotta give that a go as well, sounds delish, I wonder if I scoop out the core and fill with sultanas would I get away with it - any comments anyone??

Dark - congrats, you must be shrinking fast.  Well done.  You'll find the support from your family will help you loads, so congrats for that too.

Anyway, I'm halfway through veggie day, so it's more or less plain sailing until Friday.  So I'll post my progress then, that will be the 4th cycle complete.

OK, just like Larry said, I was feeling thinner this morning, so I weighed myself, andddd....

4 lbs down already!! And it is only day five for me, but I have been following it exactly. I am not going to weigh myself again until day 11....but I am SOOO excited!!

Glenda, I do the baked apple because it's warm and creates it's own "syrup" with the cinnamon & nutmeg. It makes you feel like you are eating something substantial on fruit day. Give it a go! And a pound is a pound, and at least you are still losing - that is the important thing!! The next cycle you are probably going to lose more!!

Larry, you are awesome, I am glad you are here to help us & we are here for you as well! I did get to the market yesterday, so I didn't have to sub anything. At least for this 1st cycle, I am really trying hard to follow the menu to the letter.

WTG Jane!! Leeza, thanks for the pork tip!

By the way, I baked chicken last night (for today) in a little red wine, garlic, salt & pepper, and it made my whole house smell SO good. I can't wait to eat it today!

Good morning, everyone.  Really busy week this week - I hope I can keep up and not let the stress push me  into familiar habits of what is er comfortable.  Had a bit of a slip up over the weekend when I let my guard down.  I definitely feel more bloated/heavier today because of it.  To those of you starting a new cycle today - Good luck - You can do it!

Hi Larry and everyone else, I'm still here. Just came off of my 3 days off. Our 12 y/o daughter made us dinner last night, BBQ chicken pizza. It was pretty good :chewing:

Congrats to everyone who had a good loss this last cycle or who are on their way. Glenda, I also lost 1 lb. I'm trying to think of it this way. During the holidays, thousands of people gained anywhere from 5-7 pounds and we LOST A POUND!!! Isn't that great! And I also sneaked a bit of chocolate when I felt stressed. This cycle I vow to be more strict. I'm going to curves 2xweek and doing the treadmill 4-5 days a week. Have a great week everyone.

Denise

Dark....Way to go!  Your Mom can now be a help with meals at home.  You are doing sooo great.  You are an inspiration.

Leeza...the menu/calendar idea is great...I'll be posting one on the frig and carrying one...thanks for the great tip!

Tin tin...love the name :)  Hang in there...busy weeks can be challenging...perhaps you can plan ahead and packet up some foods to take with or have ready when you get home...let us know how it goes....we all could use some hints on handling cazy busy weeks and navigating them successfully.  You can do it!

Anita...Wow, you're doing really well.  Good for you tightening up on the diet for a really great cycle.  I find the unsweetened drink packets(use tiny bit)...like koolaide in the USA...work great blended  with the cottage cheese because they add alittle tartness and color and the sweetner adds the sweet.  It beats getting  into bad sweets when you've GOT to have a bite of something sweet and creamy..lol  I'm going to try alittle coffee, almond, cinnamon and a dusting of unsweetened cocoa powder(chocolate is not on the diet but the powder is more like a spice) for tarimisu next time.

Denise...glad you're going strong and 11 pounds !!!!!! lighter

Jane...Good for you...6 pounds...and have a REAllY GREAT new cycle.

Glenda....that baked apple idea sounds soooo good for something warm on fruit day...the snow is deep here.

Larry...have a good week.

Browneg...Keep strong!

Finally155...great goal name...keeps you focused...and we call you 155 already!

I'm on my first veg day....I already did the tomato and cheese thing...it helped!  Thanks all for the ideas and support....really grateful!!

Hey everyone...Keep it up on the good work!  It's great to hear "real results from REAL people"

I am on day 2-fruit day.  And completely prepared for it.  I got a headache this morning, even through drinking tons of water.  I really think it's from lack of carbs from yesterday.  So instead of going crazy with my workouts, I skipped my normal morning workout and I am just going to go to an aerobic class tonight.

I also wanted to ask, do you think it would be ok to substitute regular yogurt for frozen yogurt?  For some reason, I can't find frozen in the grocery stores!  I'm going to go to trader joes today after work (last resort) in  hopes of finding frozen yogurt, because I'd much rather have that.

I have some grapes in the freezer now that I am going to eat as my second meal (in additon to an apple.)  Has anyone ever tried that?  Suck on them frozen...they take longer to eat and are really sweet.  Just an idea.

Mama, congrats on your weight loss.  That is great, I'm really happy for you!

Browneg....I have the same problem...no frozen yogurt!!  I looked in my food book and found the carbs, proteins and calories very similar....so i might use unfrozen too but would love the frozen.  Anyone have any ideas on this?????

Great to see all the familiar faces back again and still going!  Sunshine, how can there be no frozen yogurt?  That's like... that's like a grocery store not carrying cat food!  This is an outrage!  Well, no... CNN devoting 24 straight hours to Anna Nicole Smith is an outrage, but you take my point.  Actually, I've found that if you ask the store manager to add an item to their shelves, they'll try.  I guess it's a good thing the local superstore didn't act on my request for Nathan's Hot Dogs!  Anyone ever have those?  Hmmm... not the best topic for this forum.  But my goodness, I'd live on those things if I could!

Soooo... can there be a huge difference between chilled low fat yogurt and frozen?  My first thought is that the frozen type has sugar.  Lots of it.  But if regular yogurt was better, why is frozen yogurt on the list?  Too bad there's no one at FL4I we can asks these questions of.

I'm sure low or non-fat regular yogurt is fine.  If it's got some fruit in it, even better.  Or add your own fruit.

See you later

I KNOW!!  I used to always see frozen yogurt before, but now that I am actually looking for it, I can't find it anywhere!

I'm pretty sure coldstone sells frozen yogurt, so if worse comes to worse, I might go there.

As far as regular yogurt, I used to always eat the Dannon Light and Fit yogurt.  The strawberry and the vanilla are really good.  They're fat free and are sweetened with splenda so there is no other added sugar.  The carbs are pretty low too.

Earlier today when reading everyone's posts, I realize I skipped a few people.

Jane, Congrats on your 6 lbs.  That's awesome.  Its nice be part of such a supporting community and I'm glad your hard work is paying off.

Leeza, I would love a copy of that calendar.  I'll send you a PM with my e mail.

Larry, yes...it's true!  Sadly there is NO frozen yogurt at the grocery store.  I'm sure regular yogurt is much better anyway (the fat free kind) but frozen yogurt tastes so much more like a "real" dessert and regular yogurt :)  Has anyone ever been to a Shop N Save or a Foodland?  I know there are some of those in the area, but have never been there.  Maybe they have the frozen kind :)

Another good snack I used to make (that is somewhat healthy) is vanilla yogurt with some granola and blueberries.  Very good and very filling.  The carbs can sort of add up though if you use too much granola.  I don't know where that would really fit in with the 11 day cycle, but if you're trying to stay somewhat healthy on the cheat days, I think you will really enjoy it.

Well, my aerobics class starts in about an hour, so I'm going to have my last fruit meal now.  I'm saving my sandwich for after class since I know I will be starving!

Ohh and no, I never had Nathan's hot dogs.  Probably good though, otherwise I'm sure I'd love them!  However, ballpark makes a fat free hot dog, I'm sure you could substitute for some form of protein :)

Avatar,

Welcome!  Congratulations on your progress with your first cycle.  And enjoy those crablegs tonight.  Crabs are my absolute favorite food (next to pizza, of course).

Thank you browneyes, I have not felt hungry at all on this eating regiment. I am used to eating once or twice a day and the weight watchers { I use to go} specialist said I did not eat enough to lose..Doc said same thing.I eat very healthy 99% of time. Now 4x a day is new and I leave my printed menu on kitchen table and mark the food and time and it seems to help alot. I shop on my 3rd day of free eating choices so all is fresh and use the green storage containers for.. easy to not stay fresh for long items. I am adding exercise to my plan this week and look for ward to all the knowledge on this space to help me over the rough spots etc. Thank you for your welcome girl. Avatar
Ps crab legs from costco are the best except for catching your own...In Alaska that is...haha

I am so glad you all mentioned the frozen yogurt issue....I searched as well at our local Super Giant!! I did come up with a box of Edy's all-natural Smoothie & Frozen Yogurt Bars, so that will have to do! They are only 100 cals each so I assume it's ok. I never realized that they took regular frozen yogurt off the shelves!

Welcome Avatar! Good job on your first phase - it's great to see so much success here!

I live in Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab country so I actually get sick of them sometimes when they are in season, but they would be an excellent substitution for either the shrimp or fish on this diet. Fresh crabmeat is good for you....you just have to forgo the melted butter....I suggest Old Bay and vinegar.

Gonna go eat my tuna and cottage cheese now...

Mamanita, what is "Old Bay"?  I'm thinking a break from shrimp wouldn't hurt.  And what sort of vinegar?  Malt?  Oh and hey, congrats on the weigh in!

Avatar!  Welcome and good luck.  I think it's a testament to the superiority of Nathan's Hot Dogs that the mere mention of them drew you out of the shadows and into the forum.  Okay, maybe it didn't.  But it made me smile anyway.  They are really something, aren't they?

I see the King Crab Legs at the grocery store all the time, but have no idea how you're supposed to prepare them.  They look like a lot of work... dangerous work.  Anyone have a thought?

Sorry, forget to mention that granola can have VERY high sugar content.  So look for or ask for unsweetened.  Yogurt, granola and banana was a staple at my house growing up.  It should be okay to sub that in now and then for frozen yogurt or any other dessert on the plan.

Hi all......Well made it through the vegie day but it made me reeeeally tired this evening.  I had a little extra cheese to see if it would help.  Maybe I didn't eat enough but you can only cram down so many vegies at a meal and I like vegies .lol   Any suggestions for next time or is it just a hard day.

Welcome Avatar!  Glad to have you on board.  Sounds like you're on a roll.  Yes...eating too little or too few meals can stop weight loss...it seems weird but I guess it is a built in survival mechanism.

Larry.....Was wondering if "Light" icecream which is now the rage...the one with sugar...might be the closest to frozen yogurt in sugar, calories etc......what do you think? They have a really large selection and it seems to have replaced the frozen yogurt.  I think you are right about keeping the sugar to keep it close to the frozen yogurt and not go to the sugarfree.

Anita, I will look for the bars...sounds good to me!  Thanks.

Larry, I wasn't thinking when I said that...Old Bay is probably a pretty regional spice made by McCormick in Baltimore, MD. It is great with just about any seafood. I don't know if you can buy jumbo lump crabmeat by the pound where you are, but it is alot easier than steaming and picking them yourself. You would probably have to buy it frozen right now, and unfortunately it is expensive...but a nice treat once in a while. I forget sometimes that it's not that easy in other parts of the US and world to get crabmeat! We grow up on them here! I prefer steamed blue crabs to crab legs. But as far as the crab legs, you can either steam or boil them until they are a pretty reddish color. I would guess that the packaging would tell you how long to cook them (I can usually tell by looking at them). Then you have to use a knife and nut crackers to open them and get the meat out. Some people use a mallot & knife, but that just causes alot of shell in your crabmeat! Oh, and I use red wine vinegar with the Old Bay.

I am a big fan of steamed clams and mussels as well.

Never had a Nathan's hot dog, but it must be good! The best I have ever had was from Walter's Hot Dogs in Mamaroneck, NY.

OMG Larry,  you HAVE to try Old Bay.  It's amazing.  My family lives pretty much right on the maryland line and when we go home in the summer, we sit on the deck with a bushel of crabs and some corona.  Sooooo good!  If you can't find Old Bay anywhere, PM me your address and I'll ship you some!

I also don't know if there is  a Trader Joe's where you are, but they sell lump crab meat.  It's very good.  This may sound odd, but sometimes I use mustard with it instead of butter.  Butter of course, tastes soooo much better, but, you know...!

I just bought some sorbet today to sub. for my frozen yogurt.  I'm going to try not to eat too much of it though because it is moderately high in sugar, but it's natural sugar from fruit it says, and fat free.  We'll see.

Other than that, I am just rounding up fruit day.  My sandwich was delicious.  I heated up some low sodium turkey, then grilled it between 2 pieces of bread on the forman grill, then added a bit of italian dressing (fat free, of course), lettuce and tomato.  It was delicious.  I was actually getting full after eating half, but since everything i've eaten other than the sandwich probably only totalled 300 calories, I forced myself to eat the whole sandwich (which was probably only 300 calories itself.

I feel much better today, and am looking forward to eating some bacon and other real foods tomorrow.  Tomorrow I also get to have a banana shake, so I wanted to share something with you guys if you are interested in making your shakes a little thicker (which is usually more filling).  I cut up my banana and I'm freezing it over night.  Sometimes that alone doesn't make the consistancy think enough, so if not, add an ice cube or two in the blender with the milk, banana, vanilla extract.  I have never used jam to sweeten a shake before, so I might just skip that.  Doesn't sound too good, but you never know!

Have a great night everyone!

Oh, and I'm sure Mama has heard of these, but there is also a thing called Crab Chips.  I believe UTZ makes them, but they are flavored with Old Bay.  I, personally don't like them, but my husband loves them.  Everytime his parents come out to visit they bring bags of them for him.  Lucky for him he's in phenominal shape...little sh*t!

Yes, I know all about the crab chips! BTW, Old Bay is great on chicken and veggies, too. And for the best Bloody Mary ever, rim the glass with lime juice & Old Bay, add a jumbo steamed shrimp and celery stalk - yum!
