Hi Trish,
Yeah, a diet buddy I agree that being organized is a big help. My husband and I work totally different shifts so he will eat different things at different times. It can be challenging but if you want it bad enough you can make it work.
So I'll check back at the end of the week too to compare notes.

Hello Denise
Looks like it is just you and me girl! How did you do? I have been very good and stuck absolutely to the diet, did not feel hungry, walked five days a week and drank water but possibly not as much as they want you to. Also had a couple of glasses of wine, which is apparently allowed. Today is the last day but I can't weigh myself as my electronic scale is playing up. Decided not to replace it until this weekend, to stop myself from weighing every day. I intend to weigh myself on Monday (after the three days off) for a realistic idea of how much I lost, so will post again next week. Hope you are still in there with me!

Hi Trish
I am here too, its just i cant look at the boards every day, as I do this from work. I also think that posting goes in cycles- you post a lot- you get maybe one response, then you dont post again for a while. What I also think happens is we have a lot of people looking at all the messages/questions, but dont like to 'get involved' with a reply.
Anyway- My name is Jules and I have been on this program since Feb 2007. Lost 25LB, kept it off by continuing on the 11 day menu plan with 3 days off-----UNTIL I tried the maintenance program-------DISASTER I put on 7LB in two weeks.
I posed a help question, but nobody who had been on maintenance replied, so I just did what I know-- thats the 11 day menu plan.
I totally love this program. I was one of those great YO YO diet people until I started this. I have learned to adapt certain recipes to work in with my food choices, and as soneone else siad on the board., I learned you should only buy one weeks food at a time to cut down wastage.
Will try and keep up the posting

Hello Jules
Great to hear from you - I too am in England (London) so there are two of us from this side of the pond. Congratulations on your weight loss. I did quite well on maintenance by carrying on with four (small) meals a day of my choice and also walking and drinking water. However the wheels fell off when we went on holiday so I need to get rid of the extra pounds before they become extra stones! This diet is brilliant and I almost enjoy going back on it.

Hey Trish,
Today is my last day of the first cycle so will weigh in tomorrow. I did a few times during the past two weeks but was disappointed and even felt I gained. But I will wait until tomorrow to see for sure.
I do enjoy it though, not ever very hungry and getting used to the new way of eating. I really have no complaints at all. Well I do miss hamburger
I'll check back in tomorrow.

OK, the big day is here. Drum roll please.......1 lb. That's it.....1 lb. To say I'm disapointed is an understatement. Hubby lost 5. It really makes the 3 days off meaningless as I feel I don't deserve them. But I'll try another cycle, it's too soon to give up now. I'm wondering if hormones can play a part in the ability to lose weight. Maybe I'm just looking for an excuse.
Good luck to everyone else. I'll be around, checking on you.

Hello Denise
I too have a sad tale to tell but it's all my fault. My scales broke three months ago and so when I started this cycle I estimated my weight judging by tightness of waistbands etc, adding on about 10lbs to when I last weighed myself. Husband bought new scales last Thursday, I leapt on them on Friday morning and I was 2lbs heavier than when I started the cycle! This means I put on much much more than 10lbs in three months of eating "normally" (I do not have a sweet tooth and never eat cakes or chocolate or puddings). Good news is that I only put on 1lb in my three day cheat period, probably because I spent most of it lying in a darkened room trying to recover from the shock.
I know they say eat until you feel full but that is my problem - I have a huge appetite and almost never feel full. So what I am going to try is this: for each of the four meals I am going to check the calories of my portions and try to keep them at maximum 300 cals per meal. This must surely work on any basis.
So don't despair, there are plenty of success stories on this diet, let's give it another shot.

Hi Trish,
I think that is my problem too, I'm eating too much at a meal. I have slowed down but I still eat the whole thing. So today I started cutting back and hopefully I will see a difference in the next 11 days. I'm also not going to weigh myself until the end, it just sets me back too much.
I really need this plan to work as I have scary high BP and have never been worried about it, until I started reading about it and what it can do. I really don't want to take medication for it though and hope that weight loss will help some.
I'll check back at the end of the week.

Hi All,
The portion size- eat till you are satisfied- sinario seems to be the stumbling block for most people, including myself to begin with.
I changed the size of my plate that I eat all my meals from, down to a tea plate(7 inch in diameter) instead of just cutting down the portion I put on a dinner plate.- This was my life saver.
I also put my knife and fork down half way though the meal, have a small glass of water, slowly'ish count to ten((YES, I know I am BIZZARE, BUT IT WORKS!!!!), then start eating again. Have another small glass of water/ diet soda when I have finished. It took me 2 weeks of training myself to do this, but it makes me 'satisfied' and that was the aim.
PS. The diet book's version of satisfied is, if after you have finished your portion, you feel like you could go back for more- but without feeling hungry- then you have eaten enough and should stop, till your next meal.---
Hope what worked for me will help someone.

Hi all,
I´m new to this forum and to this diet.44 years old, english but have lived in Spain for many years.
Today is my first day. My story is no different than most peoples, yo yo. Never getting to where I want to be even though I seem to have been on a diet since I was a teenager. Never been too much over weight though. Right now I would like to loose 10lbs. Not a lot I know, but I just never get there!
From what I have read so far a lot of you have had some great results which is very encouraging. I look forward to getting to know you and sharing this weight loss journey.

Hi Chati,
Welcome! I'm glad you're here. The past posts are very helpful and that's what made me decide to start this plan. As you can see my first round was not all that successful for me, but I have not given up. I have too much riding on it, so must go forward.
Come back often with any comments, questions or tips of your own.

Hi Denise
Thanks for the welcome.
I must say that the most recent post, by yourself, Hillary etc don´t make me as hopefull as I was yesterday but I´m going to give it a go. So far today Its been much the same as my normal diet although I don´t know what I´m going to do with the choices for "meal 4" tonight : milk, broiled halibut and prunes!!! I won´t be ticking the milk as a choice again.
Looking back at Nir´s question to Hillary as to why she chose this diet my reasons are more or less the same but I´m not a vegetarian.
Jules well done on all your weight loss. Amazon, how goes it?

Hi everyone, haven't been by here in a few days. I'm starting my 5th turn on the diet. I ended at 185lbs. last time and went up 2lbs. during the off days (I indulged in far too much pizza and beer). Today is Day 3 and I'm already almost back down to 185. I'm hoping to get to at least 180 by the time the 11 days are up, although my diet will be interrupted by a wedding this Sunday so we'll see how it goes.
Chati, let us know how it goes for you. Some people have mentioned that as they get closer to their goal the weight loss slows down so I'm curious how it'll go for you with only 10lbs. to go.

Hi all!
Ok, so a friend at work told me about this diet and I had to check it out. Quite frankly, I was skeptical. I have lost about 25 lbs since the begining of the year through portion control and excersize but I have hit a plateu. I haven't lost another pound in 2 months.
So I've been reading all these testimonials and I'm trying to decide if this is the plan for me or not. This is one girl who loves, LOVES, her carbs. I'm a little broke right now otherwise I would sign up today and give 'er a go.
And on a side note, would it be smart...er... more like safe...to try this so close to the holidays??? And what if I needed to lose a lot? Most of the people on here seem like they only needed to lose 10-30 lbs. Has anyone had significant weight loss on this?
Ah, decisions, decisions...

Hi Foxpaw,
I will let you know. I´m curious to see how I do too. I am worried ( already and I´m only on day 2) about the "off" days cause I know when I´m doing my normal sort of diet that I always blow any good work I´ve done through the week at the weekends. Thats why I thought this would be a good one to try. SURELY I can stick to 11 days!
I´m on my fruit day today. Never been very good at those so I´m saving my sandwich till the evening which is my weekest time.
Hi Peckerhead. Holidays as in Thanksgiving? Can you work it so that your 3 days off fall on that time ? Thing is "things" are always happening. I´m always the same. Not now, cause this weekend so and so is comming, happening etc. I can´t give you any advice on the diet itself cause I´m only on day 2 of my first cycle. Good luck whatever you decide and well done on your great weight loss.

Hi chati
The less you have to lose the slower it will go I'm afraid, but I think that is true with any diet. I don't have a huge amount to lose either (more than I originally thought, but we won't go there). The reason I love this diet is that I like all the food choices, but I am on the old one which IMO is much better than the new one. There is a lot of info on Part 1 of this thread about how to access old or new.
Anyway this is day 4 and I have lost 2 lbs and am very happy with that. As jules has said, portion control is everything on this diet and if you remember that on your cheat days as well you will be okay. I want to have lost the bulk of this extra weight (20 lbs, aaaaargh) by Christmas, and then go back on the diet in January for the last few lbs.
Welcome to foxpaw and peckerhead.

Hi Trish,
Yeah I think portion contol is important and as Jules says taking a rest inbetween. I know my hubby always eats too much too fast and sometimes I find myself eating to his rythm and have to force myself to slow down.
I was going to say I find myself eating less than I expected but for goodness sake I´m only on day 2 ! lol
I´m off to have a look ( if I can find it) at the old plan now.

Hi Jules,
Whilst looking for something else came across the post of yours with these comments
"I think it is soo easy- I never did junk food to start with, but the no refined carbs really suits my body type.
I have learned how to make the 3 'cheat' days work for me( I just follow the same principals of NO banned carbs)"
I think thats how I´m going to feel. I find if I eat "bad carbs" I feel very bloated. I used to do the SW diet and on the green days I´d go to bed so uncomfortable I´d hardly ever do them.

Foxpaw - hows it going? I´m about to start day 4. So far so good.
Hows everybody else doing?
Did anyone feel bloated on the all fruit day? I also felt a bit lightheaded and sick last night but was more or less ok once I ate meal4

I feel better this week now that I cut my portions a bit. Still resisting the scale until next weekend. I got to tell you about my all fruit day. I don't feel bloated when I do it, but sure can't wait until that sandwich. I had bought 1/2 lb of turkey pastrami so when I made my sandwich I used almost all of it. It didn't look that big I could hardle wrap my mouth around it though I started getting full after the first half but kept going. By the time I finished, I was miserable, even several hours later. A big mistake that I will never do again.
Wishing you all a great weekend, I know they are difficult.

LOL. I made a pretty big sandwich too but it was very easy to eat. I can´t have done too bad cause I still wanted more when I´d finished. Maybe I´m just greedy!
I´m doing ok so far this weekend but is it a boring one!!! Oh well at least my housework is getting done!
No socialising for us! I did have my daughter round last night with her hubby but thats ok I can manage that. (most of the time)
Denise - You on day 7 today?

Yes, this is my 7th day on second cycle. I'm rarely hungry, and not too bored with the selection so far. Dinner is fish and milk, my most unfavorite combination
I feel good but don't really think I'm going to have much for weight loss this time around either. But that's OK, I'll keep going. Overall it's got to be better for me than what I was eating. I'll check back in next Friday at weigh in.

Fish and milk. I got that too! Don´t think I´ll be ticking milk next time.
Í´m not too bored with the food. It was just the weekend. Keeping away from temptations!
I did it though and I´m pleased about that.

Hi there! I just downloaded my first menu today, but won't be starting until next week because I have some food I need to get rid of first, going out of town, etc (not making excuses, I promise!) Anyways, I have really enjoyed reading about everyone's success with this diet. Hopefully I'll be on here as inspiration to someone soon!

Hi Zach
As you may have noticed I´m pretty new at this too but so far so good. I did weigh myself yesterday ( begining of day 6) and I´m down 4lbs. So I´m pleased with that. Í´m not singing victory as yet though, cause I want to see what happens on the 3 days off. I must say its been pretty easy to follow even though sometimes the combinations are a bit wierd.
Look forward to sharing your progress

So I succumbed to temptation this weekend. I already knew I was going to be going off the diet on Sunday at my friend's wedding, but I ended up going off the diet a day early, on Saturday, and staying off all the way through Monday. I'm starting over again today with a new menu. I was through day 5 when I fell off and had already lost about 2 lbs., which I promptly put back on over the weekend. No big deal though, they'll come right back off.
The best part about the weekend was being able to fit into a shirt that my wife had bought me for Christmas that was so small for me back in February (the first time I tried to wear it) that I couldn't close even one button. It was a bit tight around the midsection when I sat down this weekend, but I was actually able to wear it. Amazing.

Yeah, the menu does present some weird combinations... mmm can't wait for the walnuts and cheese slices. Haha. I've been yo-yo dieting for about a month or so, and it has gotten old, so I'm hoping that this will be easy for me to stick to. I'm only 20, so at least I have that working for me!

Hi all,
Dont forget you can eat cooked or raw salsa with all meals. I make a batch of raw on a Sunday and have it the rest of the week.( tomotoes, onion, corriander all finely chopped, then lime juice over the top, with a little salt and pepper if you want)
This goes well with say the cheese slices meal, or most of the meal choices, at least that I have------ havent tried it with egg mind you-lol

Hi Jules,
So it would be ok to cook the fish in a sort of "salsa sauce". I´m certainly not planning on choosing milk as an option next time cause I couldn´t really get my head round eating broiled fish and a glass of milk!
I made a lovely veggie soup with some pinto beans thown in last night, for todays all veg day. I´m planning on having it for 3 of the meals then in the evening some spinach with grated cheese on top. ( Its easier at work to eat the soup) Wonder if I´ll still think its lovely at the end of the day?

Hey Jules,
Salsa is great on scrambled eggs That's my favorite way to eat eggs, try it sometime.
Chati, great idea on the soup. Soup is much more filling than salad. I don't like Pinto beans very well so what I do is drain and rinse a can and put it in a container with lots of lime juice, cillantro, cumin, chili powder and salt. I let it sit all night and then put it over a big salad.
I always have the squash for breakfast, it's filling and gets me through to the next meal.

Like the idea for the pinto beans. I often (on normal eating times) make white bean salad with onions, garlic, parsley, olive oil and vinager. Going to try the pinto ones next time round.
The only squash I´ve ever seen here is the peanut one. Would that be ok to eat? Not that its one of my faveorites. Too sweet for me really.
I´ve been having a few cravings today, mostly for sweet stuff. Going to the supermarket was pretty hard work and when my hubby came back with some stuff for our work and left a couple of packets near me I could have swore blind in amongst it was a packet of croissant!!! lol. Which of course I wanted to eat. Turned out to be a bobin of cotton ( not the small household type). Honestly I mean I know my eyesight is getting bad but i think my mind was playing trips on me.

I usually cook my chicken in a "salsa sauce". I use a little bit of oil (it's cheating, I know ) to sautee some onions and garlic, add 2 or 3 finely chopped fairly large tomatoes to make a nice sauce, add salt and cumin for flavor, then add the chicken breast. Cook it on low heat for about 30 or 40 minutes.
On veggie days I usually do the veggie soup also. I basically do the same thing I do with my chicken, but using one or two cans of beans instead of chicken. I'll usually eat that for at least 3 meals. With the other meal usually a salad or just cucumber in light ranch if I'm in a hurry.

Hi Everyone!
I'm new here.. on Day 3. I'm embarrassed to admit that I just cheated by scarfing down two cookies like there's no tomorrow. BTW, maybe other women can relate, but this is not the diet to be on while PMSing.. actually any diet must be challenging! Anyways, I'm hoping if I just jump back in, I'll be okay!
I did have a couple of questions....
Wine - Is one glass of red wine really okay everyday?
Coffee - How bad would a soy latte be? It's soy.. how bad?
Thank you!

Foxpaw - That sandwich is the best thing I´ve eaten all week! LOL
Jules - I´m doing that with the pinto beans tonight.
Calima - Hi and welcome! Not an easy time I know ! Regarding your questions I get the impression the one glass of wine is after you´ve lost the weight and is in the maintaining bit, but I suppose its ok on your three days off. I´m staying away from it whilst on plan cause its not often I stick to just one. When I want "just one" I treat myself to a mini bottle of champers. Not quite not one but better than half a bottle! lol
Haven´t got a clue about the latte. How you doing today?
Denise - Glad yesterday is over. The only thing that kept me in check was the fact that I was on day 8 ( so far so good) and that on Sunday I´m going to the bakers first thing to buy one of those lovely buttery croissants they sell. Actually don´t think I will. I´ll be too scared of putting on the little I seem to have lost. So it´s your weigh in tomorrow how do you think you´ve done.

Good morning Everyone:
Today is my first day on this plan. I am super excited and have been reading the forum from the beginning (I have a ways to go!) to learn what works for people and what doesn't.
I plan on incorporating a couple of different concepts (Fat Flush Plan, Eat Right for Your Blood Type, & food combining) into this plan from various health and diet books which I feel make sense for me while following the rotation and other recommendations from the handbook. Something has been missing for me in those other plans though, and I feel the rotation is the key.
I just turned 50 on Oct. 16th and wish to get back to what I consider a comfortable weight for me. Somewhere between 111 - 116 lb. I got married last Christmas and have ballooned up to 145.5 lb. from 122 lb. last year. I can't fit into my winter clothes and it's right around the corner !
After reading some of the posts, I see that a lot of discouragement happens by weighing every day or too often, and especially after the cheat days when some of the weight returns. I plan to wait until after day 11 to weigh myself, go on my cheat days, get back on the next cycle and weigh again. In other words, I am NOT going to weigh myself after my cheat days. I will, however, take my measurements along the way.
My stats are:
Weight 145.5 lb. Bust 39.5" Waist 30" Abdomen 37.5" Hips 42" Thighs 24"3/4"
I am very grateful to have a support system here, and I will definitely be sharing what is working for me.
Hugs to all

Hello there Starborne,
Welcome. I´m pretty new here as well. Only on my 9th day. Its been pretty easy although I had a hard day yesterday, but I got through it.
Hope you don´t mind me asking but are you not very tall? 111lbs seems a pretty light weight.
When you say your going to incorporate other things do you mean during the 3 days off or during the 11 days?
We got married last December too. ( 1st) I´m just weighing in my usual once a week day. Last Monday I had lost around 4lbs but it certainly doesn´t feel like I´ve lost anymore since.
Look forward to getting to know you and sharing your progress

Hi Chaiti,
I'm pretty short ... 5'3.5" with a small frame. 111 lb. is pretty slim, that's my joy joy happy dance weight; I would satisfied with 116-118 lb. I feel more energetic, less joint and back pain being slim.
As far as incorporating other ideas, since you asked (this might be kinda long) ... I am doing it during the 11 days. I'll see about the cheat days and how I feel.
I have made food choices from the list according to "Eat Right for Your Blood Type"
During the meals that fruit is offered, I will eat ONLY fruit until satiated (proper food combining) and not mix it with protein or starch vegetables. I also will not be mixing protein and starchy vegetables.
I am not (well, after today anyway, I've already had some) going to do much in the way of coffee -- based on information from "Fat Flush Plan". Caffeine messes around with one's metabolism as well as adding to the toxicity of one's liver. Also, diet sodas are really not a healthy choice as they can add to NUMEROUS health problems.
I plan to detox my liver. I've read from the above plan that the liver is our major fat-burning organ and the lymph is our major fat-processing system. Anything that is adding toxins to our system is inhibiting weight loss. As soon as I can get to the grocery store, I plan to add to my 8-10 glasses of water, UNSWEETENED, ORGANIC PURE (not from concentrate) CRANBERRY juice. It's one of the main things recommended from the Fat Flush Plan, and it's so much easier for me to get in my water intake.
The dilution is 4 oz. straight cranberry juice to 28 ounces water. You can add stevia if you want for sweetness, but I like it without it.
I'm also going to most likely add a morning/evening drink of psyllium husks with the "cranberry water" which will help cleanse my colon and balance hormones.
I'll be taking daily liquid mineral supplements and an essential fatty acid supplement.
In addition to the water and/or diluted cranberry water, I'll be adding detoxing teas and other herbal teas to help fight hunger.
In common with the Fat Flush Plan with this FL4I is regarding exercise. It definitely recommends a less intense regimen -- walking and jumping on a mini-trampoline. The mini-trampline is GREAT for the lymphatic system (remember the lymph being our major fat-processing system).
What I like from reading FL4I is the simplicity, the mostly detoxing affects in food choices, the rotation of foods for some reason makes a whole lot of sense to me, the teaching of how to stop eating when satiated, and not having to measure or limit my food intake until * I * decide when enough is enough.
Sorry this is so long, and I really appreciate the opportunity to share with you what I plan I doing so that I can be made "accountable" .
BTW, loved the 'cotton' story . hee hee.
Hugs,
Alyssa Rose

oops ...regarding the cranberry juice to clarify ... buy the PURE CONCENTRATED cranberry juice ... not the Oceanspray kind that is made from concentrate with added corn syrup, etc.

Hi Alyssa Rose,
Sounds like your on a mission!! A lot of what you say I follow anyway. I try and stay away from, potatoes, corn, cooked carrots´. Don´t drink soda drinks. ( but i do like my wine and beer! lol) I don´t eat ready made dinners ets and try and stay away from pastries, cakes and stuff like that.
I like this diet cause it´s easy to follow, you´re eating foods you like, not a lot of prep and you don´t have to think about what to cook all the time! and it´s more or less along the lines of the Montignac diet which I was trying to follow before comming on this but to tell the truth I needed something stricter at least just to give me the kick in the bum I needed.

Chati,
Never heard of the diet you mentioned. Gosh there are so many.
I agree though, this seems like a no brainer when it comes to what to eat each day.
Beer and wine! That's how I gained so much weight this last year!!! Guess it goes back to that liver thing again. Soooo... sigh .... no more for me. Maybe ... MAYBE for special occasions, I'm just not good at limiting myself .
Good luck .
I'll be checking in here daily. In the meantime, will be reading more past posts.

Weigh in today. 4 pounds down in the second cycle along with 1 in the first. It feels like more though and wish it was. Hubby has lost 10 altogether. Don't ya just love it when the husband loses more than you. I'm going to continue to blame it on hormones
We're celebrating his BD this weekend so I told him I would make a nice pasta dinner.
Have a nice weekend everyone and I'll be back on the wagon next week.

Denise -Congrats on the 4 lbs.! What did you do different this time around?
For those of you that had fish and milk and don't like the combo. It's my understanding we can substitute protein for protein... yes? Fish sprinkled with cheese maybe?
Yesterday I had a combo of fish and nuts . So I crushed some macademia nuts and sprinkled them on top of the fish with lemon juice/garlic/dill and a drizzle of olive oil under the broiler. (Ate more nuts than that tho') .
My first day was pretty good. Drank lots of water and herbal tea and wasn't too hungry until late night but didn't have any extra. I saved my last meal until 8:00 pm and made it fruit -- prunes! (I actually love prunes, they are so sweet).
Despite going to bed hungry, I was NOT hungry when I got up. I'm still drinking coffee for the time being. Wasn't actually hungry until quite later -- I didn't have my first fruit until 1:30 pm or so ! I tend to get hungry later in the day, so I think I'll spread my meals out accordingly, with my last meal being a fruit 'snack' if it's on the menu anywhere. I find that if I'm drinking something hot (herbal tea, for instance), I feel quite satisfied for a long time in the morning.
I made my husband hide the scale until my 11th day ! hee hee

Also remember that you don't have to eat all the items for each meal. You can eat just the fish and skip the milk.

Hi Alyssa,
The only thing I did different this time around was cut down on my portions a bit, eat slower and pay more attention to when I get full. I think I was eating way too much so I wouldn't feel 'deprived'.
Has anyone picked the baked beans yet? Last night I got fish and the beans and I thought I had died and gone to heaven Next menu plan, one meal is pinto beans AND baked beans. Not so sure about that one
This is my off weekend and I'm having popcorn for dinner. It is one of my favorite foods and every Thursday my daughter and I have popcorn night. So now, she still does on Thursdays and I wait until every other Friday. That's my reward I guess.
Foxpaw-I'm going to try your chicken in salsa recipe next time around, sounds good.

Denise - Great stuff on the loss, enjoy your days off but don´t go mad. Has your hubby got more to loose than you? I´ve got baked beans today but with apricots which of course arn´t around this time of year. I´ve learnt a few things for my next 11 day plan. Such as, no milk. Not ticking 2 types of eggs cause you get them on the same day. I´d rather have different choices even if sometimes I only go for one of them at any given time. Maybe I won´t choose cashews next time. I like them too much.
Foxpaw - Last night instead of having a small piece of "frozen fish" and a glass of milk I went and bought a biggish fresh sea bass, wrapped it in a piece of foil and stuck it on the bbq. Had just that and it was lovely. Best meal of the week. Even better than the sandwich on the fruit day.
Alssya Rose - Enjoy your fruit day. So will you just be having a lettuce and tomato salad sandwich for one of your choices?
Zachattack - You there? How goes it?
