I haven't had time to check in since last week, a lot going on. I did manage to lose 5 lbs. this last cycle. I also managed to put back 2 lbs on CW, but am sure that will be gone in a day or two.

Zeva congrats on the new arrival, it's such an exciting time, enjoy every minute.

Kitty, I am very sorry about your dad. It is a difficult loss.

WOW, ZEVA, you are almost out of 1st trimester huh?!?!!

So I'm totally confused! I still have NO TOM so I'm about 1.5 weeks late (I'm never late) and I've taken two tests which were both neg.  I FEEL pregnant. You know, that overly tired, breast tenderness stuff.. YUP, that's how I feel.  I stopped FL4I Friday evening b/c I was conveinced I was pregnant.

I don't have anymore stress than usual and I hadn't lost an obsence about of weight to throw off my TOM.  So confused!  Anyone ever had this happen to them? I'll call the doctor after another week of this

Jodice....how old are you? My daughter had some perimenopause symptoms in her early 30's....we all differ.  Sometimes hormones do wacky things for no clear reason.  Do go and get checked if things don't get back to normal soon.  Stress can throw off the cycle. I had that happen occasionally with vacations or something really throwing things off for a cycle...rarely but occasionally....and I felt the same way.  Since you gave birth only 6 months ago....did you nurse at all?...could be your body is just trying to get back to normal.  Anyway...no fun...you and Webfairy are having similar symptoms:grin:...and hers are definitely not the big P....more likely midlife changes...lol  Hang in there!  Since you are not P...you can go back to the plan and keep going.  Let know how things go for you!

Thanks SS!  I'm 28 so I'm sure it can't be mid-life stuff yet?!?! I'm haven't nursed for 4 months and have been back to normal the past 3-4 months. I'm just hoping the tests I took were correct :) And I'll be seeing the doc if something doesn't give.

I think I'll take the rest of this cycle off since It's turkey week and I'll start anew next MOnday.

Happy monday to all

Jodice - Hang in there and let us know what happens.

Happy Monday everyone! Anyone starting a cycle this week?  I am doing 3 days starting today.  So that means the dreaded fruit day for me tomorrow.  But that may be JUST what I need to get things going (as in weight... going, going, gone!).  I am ready to ask my doc about this as it came on so suddenly and everyday I was up more and more.  Could not having my TOM this last month really do this?  Maybe I need to call my doc and ask him if there is anything I can do.  I hate to go out and by striped shirts.  I don't look good in stripes.  LOL

Hi everyone! I know it's off topic, but I found out I lost the baby today. I go in for the DNC procedure tomorrow morning. Please keep me in your prayers, I really need it. On the bright side, I will be joining whatever team it is starting next Monday for a new cycle. Still going to do BC though. Think it works out better with my work schedual. Thank you all for listening and being my diet buddies. I love you all.

Hi All...how is everyone doing with the plan?  What are you doing about Thanksgiving?  Is everyone taking the day off?  I will end my cycle early.   Everyone is different and has a different plan for the day.  I usually have a few bites of everything on the menu and eat more of the veggies/salad/turkey.  I eat the dessert as a separate meal and I try to drink my water and have something hot to drink so I don't :pig:out...heehee.  I really don't like the "too full feeling" any more.  Now that I stop when "satisfied" it is usually easy...BUT... when there are sooo many choices and everything is sooo good...it is much harder! lol  I do usually freeze extra turkey in packets and have it instead of turkey deli on my cycle.
I made homemade cranberry relish today.  I grind up fresh cranberries and oranges, along with some peels and then add sugar...YUM...I had to have a few bites to be sure it was just right! And it was awesome!:yum:

Hello Everyone.... I had a bad day on Day one of this cycle so had to start over on Day 2!!! That means that my cycle doesn't finish until Friday night, and although Thanksgiving is not generally celebrated her in Antigua, my mother-in-law is insisting that we do the whole turkey deal, so I will have to try and work something around my menu!! I put on a pound or two over th elast cheat days, but lost those and am down another 1.5lbs, so I hope to be down to at least 160 if not 159 by Saturday morning!!!

Found a yummy recipe for Souffle Tomatoes, as I seem to get cheese and eggs a lot, and seeing as salsa is made of tomatoes, I just took the tomato to encase the souffle!! I will post it on the recipe thread.

Sunshine - I went to sushi tonight.  But I didn't have any soy.  Instead of soy sauce I had ponzu sauce (which is a citrus based sauce), and I had no edamame or miso soup.  It was tough, but I did it! I had the most wonderful roll.  It was similar to a california roll, but topped with tons of seaweed and some sesame.  ANd the crab was REAL crab. Yummmm!  I also asked the sushi chef to make it with as little rice as possible.  And I had Unagi as usual, because I love it so much.  So, as you can see, I did not stick with the diet.  My sister and I were out grocery shopping at Costco (my 3rd trip in the last 4 days) so we make sure we have everything we need for Thanksgiving.  And she was hungry and I hadn't eaten, so her and I always seem to end up at a sushi restaurant.  It's some kind of magnetic attraction! I blame it all on her!

For Thanksgiving I am making all kinds of yummy dishes as I have 10 people coming, but these days I make much healthier versions, and everyone still loves them and doesn't know I remove some of the fatter ingredients.  But I want to make a point about what you said about dessert.  I do exactly the same as you I have dessert, but have it as a seperate meal.  I think everyone will find that if you don't add the dessert on TOP of your meal, you will have much better results.  So I wanted to reiterate what you said, as that DOES make a difference.  It's called "workin' it"! hehehe

Shaywin - Thanks for the recipe. I am going to have to try that!

Everyone else, thank you so much for your wonderful heartfelt thoughts for Zeva.  I am so proud to be a part of this wonderful, loving group here.  You are all so awesome!

Sunshine, are you kidding me?  Lilah is the main attraction! She is actually eating baby food, so will be having sweet potatoes and veggies for sure (although they may be out of the jar)!  My sister is making the turkey. I am doing a ton of other foods, including "Roasted Shrimp Cocktail", "Italian Sausage Skewers", "Apple Cranberry Sausage Stuffing" and "Walnut Mushroom Pate".  Plus I am making all the veggies (broccoli, asparagus, and spinach).  My sister and I always make enough to feed an army.  So everyone gets leftovers to take home.  Of course, I had to go out and buy a bunch of Rubbermaid containers and our children never return them!

We will have a big bowl where everyone has to write on a piece of paper at least one thing that they are thankful for (even the kids), and put it in the bowl.  Then after dinner (or you can do it before) we read them.  Who wouldn't smile hearing this?  My grandkids top my list always!  What are you making?

Hi Webfairy!
This year it will just be the two of us....that will be strange.   Our kids will be together on the East coast( minus one who is too far away and celebrates Canadian TG which is earlier in the fall).  It is a little to sad to think we will not be there this year.  My oldest daughter is hosting and my other two kids are contributing.  My four kids are all wonderful cooks!
DH and I will have a smaller version of a traditional dinner...minus the extras that one makes for a family gathering.  My DD even baked two kinds of cookies to go with the various pies..usually pumpkin or sweet potato, pecan, apple and cherry.  My mother always makes something called holiday onions...tiny onions in a creamy mushroom sauce with cheddar and walnut pieces(sound awful but is delicious) my other daughter loves the green bean and onion ring casserole.
Your stuffing sounds amazingly good!  And what is roasted shrimp cocktail?
Webfairy...I think we should start a separate recipe section for choice days ONLY...hehee...because it sounds like we have some wonderfully creative cooks and bakers in our group here!:yum:
Happy day before Thanksgiving all!
Hugs
SS:sun:
But all that said...today is a cycle day...sooo..I must stick with the plan knowing tomorrow I will have a special meal!

I'm happy to report that I have the worst cramps ever!!!! TOM has finally arrived so now I can go back on the diet! It's been a nice break though ;)

Was wondering, this probably won't work, but what if did the diet M-F every week and took the weekends off only? HUMMMM, that sounds like a great idea but probably not as benifical. ANyone ever tried the diet that way?

Well.... weighed in this morning, at a disastrous 162.00 which means that including my CD gains, I only lost 3 lbs this cycle. down only 1.5lbs from the end of last cycle.  I am soooooo upset coz I wanted to be in the 150's by now.... I did have a bad night on Thursday though... my menu called for chicken and bacon, so I was just going to have turkey at my mother-in-laws Thanksgiving dinner, but you know how it is.... impossible to resist all the glorious side dishes.... so I guess I only have myself to blame.

Hi guys, first post; I've been doing the FL4I for about several months now and I've been having great success with until about lately when I've noticed that I would lose weight up and until day 6, and then from that cycle day on, I either gain or stay the same weight even though sometimes the amount of food in the meals i eat decreases. Has anyone been through this and what would you recommend doing? Thanks

Beirutio8...welcome!!!  Congratulations on being so successful!!  It can be frustrating when losses slow down or stall.  Stalls are quite normal especially if you have been dieting a long time.  Webfairy has some good info on stalls that she can give you.  Also as we become lighter in weight we often lose at a rate more in keeping with our new size:grin:  As we approach our ideal weight...losses are less per cycle for many of us.
Give us some details so we can more effectively help you.  How old are you...M or F...how much have you lost...average loss per cycle....how much more do you want to lose?  We would be happy to help all we can! Are you generating a new menu each cycle?  Are you overeating nuts or fro yogurt or having any other issues?  We have all had to tweak things at times.  The veggies of the second part of the cycle are an important part of nutrition so if you are going to be dieting for quite awhile more it isn't good to give up veggie day...but you may be able to shorten your cycle.

Thanks for the quick reply sunshine, as for some of your questions, I'm 20 yrs old, ive been doing this diet for about 6 months now and lost around 20 lbs. I'm currently  at 83 kg, and 75kg is my ideal goal, so not a lot to go to be honest. Before FL4I i was w/ LA weight loss and in total so far i have lose around 70lbs. I often find that when i do generate a new menu, it always ends up pretty much the same foods daily with some tweeking no matter how many choices i pick. I don't really over do the Frozen yogurt, but i do often get peanuts and cashews pretty much everyday in my menu. Average loss per cycle is somewhat around 5 lbs. Lately i haven't had the amount of required water at all (which could be the cause) and i don't really exercise much. If i missed any other info let me know

Thank you all so much for your love. This is truely an amazing group of people. I think it was Kitty I told, if we can survive dieting together, we can survive anything together! Again, really, I thank you with ALL my heart.

Now, on to diet matters.....this week has gone completely out the door. I hope you all understand... Also, I need to have my turn on the box......Thanksgiving is only 1 day a year, as is Christmas, and dare I say New Year Eve and Day. The diet teaches us how to eat, what to eat, and we learn to use common sense on these days. They are special days.....not meant for dieting, but for moderation. Like Web mentioned, having dessert as a seperate meal will help so much. For all these holidays on the way...ENJOY THEM!!!!! Just keep in mind the principals of the diet, and you will be ok. We have the rest of the year to strictly diet...OK?

I will be with whoever is starting on Monday to get back on track....maybe I'll lose another 5-10 pounds by the end of the year??? Lol.....I can hope right? I will be doing BC. (works well with my work schedual) The first day is mostly fruit, but will be suffering through a fruit day on day 2...hahaha, I need to get rid of the bloat I feel, and I know it will help to do 2 days with mostly fruit, and having the sandwich on the 2nd day will be super.

Have a wonderful rest of your weekend everyone...I am so thankful for you all! see yall Monday!

Zeva...It is wonderful to see you back with us!!:rose::rose:  You have been dearly missed!  I will be starting on Monday with you.  Glad to be on the same team....I will do a DG cycle.
Yes, holidays are  very special and Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for our many blessings.  Celebrations are for celebrating!!  I wholeheartedly agree.  They come so seldom.  Those days are not what makes us over weight...it is the daily poor choices..."the little fox that steal the grapes"  Now that we have celebrated...time to get back to the plan.  I am grateful for the extra turkey to use this cycle!

Beruiti...wow...you have lost a lot!!  Good for you! It sounds like you are doing great! How much more do you need to lose?  5 pounds per cycle is great.  I lost 1-2...but I am petite.  I was very happy with that and reached goal more slowly than the bigger gals...but I got there.  If you seem to have stalled...change up some choices on your menu and see if that helps.  Do you drink green tea?  I brew a green and black teabag together so it has more flavor.  Green tea and even other teas help with fat loss.  Try a cycle sometime without nuts...see if that changes your losses.  Experiment.  We are all different.  I think that really you should continue to lose..if even a bit more slowly...by just continuing to do what you are doing. The water does make a difference so at least get back to drinking that this cycle and see of that alone helps.  I try to walk some each week too.
Feel free to ask questions as there are lots of folks here to help...though many are off due to a holiday weekend in the USA.

Beiruti - Hello and welcome! Sounds like you have done great so far!  I didn't really have that problem, but I wasn't doing it for 6 months in a row, either, only 4 1/2.  If you want my info on stalls and plateaus, PM me and I can either post it in a PM or if you PM me your email address I can email it to you.  I would cut back on the nuts and see if that helps some.  The water is important, so try upping that again.  Have you increased the portion size at all?  Sometimes we do that without noticing that much, but it can add up, too.

Zeva - I am so happy to see you! I think I will do a DG cycle this week since I flaked the last 2 times.  I did lose 1.5 lbs. but need to lose about 3 more.  Hopefully I can be a good girl and stick with it this time, at least until Friday.

Sunshine - I hope your open house went well.  I spent the day Christmas decorating and got my tree finished.  I started the outside, but ran out of daylight.  It's been a long weekend and I am going to bed. :moon: Night all!  See you tomorrow!

Here we are another monday. Today is veggie day, I do prefer fruit day, mainly because of the sandwich. I followed the menu all week, but my weekends are difficult. Luckily I gained only 1 lb. from friday morning. I am determined to stick to it the next 4 days and drink water till my eyes float!!! I am now able to get into pants that I wore 5-6 years ago, I didn't say they fit well, but I can wear them!!!!! I like to wear clothes that are snug, it helps to remind me that I still need to work on my weight.

I'm still rather battered from falling pretty hard off of the diet wagon. As we say in my household, Uffda :nono: (a Norwegian-American phrase of annoyance). Needless to say, we had a great Thanksgiving .

Didn't lose, didn't gain last cycle. :dizzy: Gained over my loooonnngg 5-day cheat period, but I am back on track today and am determined to stay with it -- even through my birthday next week -- to take off my 5# cheat weight and maybe an extra pound or two.

:sun:Today is a new day.:sun:

Yay poof! I just bought myself some "skinny" jeans (so I can wear them with my new knee high boots) Funny I never thought a 14 would be considered "skinny" hehehe:tongue: I'm not one for wearing tight fitting anything, but these skinny jeans DO remind me I need to stay on the diet wagon or else they wont fit! **and if I fit into the clothes I wore 5-6 years ago....I'd be eating my way back into a 22-24!!!**

Sunshine, glad to hear you are doing a cycle with me! Like I said, I'm doing BC as it works best with my work schedual, but FB:horse: day is coming for me tomorrow as well! I really feel like I need the extra fruit day. **Day 1 on BC is mostly fruit too** (I do think I overate on my protein meal though...still feel it!)

Web, isn't the diet great? You can always go back and do a partial cycle just to get you back in that comfortable range. You are such a super example of how well this diet works!

Changes, I've got 5 pounds I NEED to lose ASAP. I di good not to gain in the short time I was expecting, but my body shape started to change a little...I will feel so much better with 10 pounds of wiggle room, but will set my first goal of 5....SO, will you be my diet buddy? We will set a goal to lose so we can be more comfortable for...well....New Years (so we can eat some more!) I know you can do it...Happy Birthday coming up and all.....I just need the extra kick on the "skinny" jeans!

How are the rest of you doing? Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving...even if was just the 2 of you, or 25 of you. Weekend's over guys...time to hop back on the wagon. Hi Zeva!  I want to get some knee high boots to wear with skinny jeans.  I see lots of young gals wearing them...looks so cute!  I used to wear them years ago.  Now that I have lost weight...my calves will fit into boots with the jeans too.  I've always had full calves...probably because I was a runner for years.  Now my calves are slim for the first time in years...so I am excited to think about boots!!
What fruit ideas:lightbulb: do you have for tomorrow...I need a push to get me psyched for fruit day.  I know the good effect it has on me...but.....:dizzy:
Hugs to you!

Sunshine, I am afraid all I have had time to work on is "THINKING" about my lesson for tomorrow! I know I am going to have a delicious sandwich when I get home from school....... They just opened a new Jamba Juice (smoothie place) down the street from the school, so I thought I'd get one of those for lunch. It's a nice treat, and the weather has been very nice.....breakfast, well, all I have are tangerines and a couple apples....so much for being prepared! I will figure something out. That may be enough...I'll bake the apples when I get home for the evening meal....smoothie....that's about all I got! I havent had a chance to think about my game plan yet...it was hard to get myself to work today...got lunches packed, my lunch, got my IL's home from thier trip safe and sound, homework done, clothes layed out, laundry done....diet? What diet??? Good thing it's a diet for idiots huh? If I had to think about dieting too, who knows what would happen???? LOL:wink:

Hey everyone!

Newbie here!  I did FLFI last year for 2 cycles and lost 15 pounds.

Now I am back on the diet again and hoping to lose 60 pounds total eventually.

I am on day 2 of my first cycle.

Thanks for the welcome back Sunshine!

I am excited to be back.  I have tried so many diets in the past and had lackluster results.  Finding a diet that actually worked for me last year was such a revelation.  I am just bummed that I didn't stick with it then.  I am committed and ready to go this time around.

Thanks for the welcome!

Could your gain be bloating?  I never weigh myself during that TOM because I always bloat 4-6 pounds.   I read about your recent loss - I am so sorry.  I lost a baby at 11 weeks last spring so I understand.  I bet the gain is totally hormonal.  (HUGS)

Zeva,

UFFDA  is right! Man o' man, the only thing I can think of is salt -- with enough water you should be able to flush it out... so to speak.

My Uffda is that I am have a terrible time keeping my mouth shut. Found some cookies left from Thanksgiving and gobbled them up last night. Uffda.  Today, I was getting such a horrible headache from my fruit :apple:I broke down and ate a 1/2 cup of squash I had left over from yesterday's red/green veggie meal (maybe not exactly red, but close enough). Uffda. At least the cookies are gone so no more temptations there and I have nothing but fruit here at the office.

Today is the full moon -- blame it all on that!!! When the moon starts waning (tomorrow) we should be able to get back into control.... (I just made that up, but it sounds good to me.)

Hang in there diet buddy!! Keep drinking your water! :bottle_water::bottle_water::glass_water:

T.

Thanks Joy and Teri.....I di fine diet wise this am with my smoothie, but when I got home had some rum and diet soda, cookies, and hummus and crackers...I'm not stuffed by any means, but I did totally fail at dieting today. Guess I've got a long way to heal mentally too. I found myself wanting sugar so badly yesterday, but not caving in. I suppose the junk I ate today will just add to the crazy gain of Nov 30,2009!!! I need some rest today...maybe just take the day just for me, and hop right back up tomorrow, and do day 2 on the BC as planned. I've been drinking water like crazy.....not too much salt yesterday being mostly fruit, but even with a lot of salt, I have never had a gain like that ....EVER! We'll see....tomorrow am may be better. Thank you Joy for sharing, and your kind words. I really appreciate it during this hard time:smile: AndTeri...my dear diet buddy...I'll hang in there......fruit the rest of the day......girl scouts honor! **my fingers are crossed just in case!! hehehehe**

CHANGES- I've had an Uffda today, during my fruit day...  I've felt light head, accompained by headache b/c of all the fruit today so I have had a string cheese and some cashews also...

WE'll get there team :)

CAN'T wait for :apple: to be behind me... I need motivation to stay AWAY from some yummy wine my husband got today as a thankyou... I know you can have a glass, but I like to stay away from it all together b/c 1 glass will equal 1 bottle by the time it's all said and done ;) I love me some wine.

Bring on WEDNESDAY already :yum:

OK...what is with today????
Jodice, I was doing great and then I got a raging headache and ended up eating some chicken and some salty carbs(not fruit) as that usually helps me derail an oncoming migraine!!  I am feeling a little better so back to the fruit for me too, Zeva.  Uffda, Teri!!!
I guess we are in TG withdrawal:nono:...going off the wagon sure has its payback.  No fun.  But we will all feel better once we get back on track...that I am sure about... I can speak from experience to this one!! lol

Well. the workday is almost done. TG. I made it though without any more sneaks. The sandwich is almost here. Whew. Rough day for many of us, I see (at least for those suffering from a holiday food hangover).

Don't look backward -- only forward. Remember -- tomorrow is another day.

Changes in Latitudes by Jimmy Buffet  (my theme song)

...Oh, yesterdays over my shoulder
So I can't look back for too long
There's just too much to see waiting in front of me
And I know that I just can't go wrong

Chorus:
With these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
Nothing remains quite the same
With all of my running and all of my cunning
If I couldnt laugh I just would go insane
If we couldnt laugh we just would go insane
If we werent all crazy we would go insane

Gabesmom - Welcome back!  This diet is like the energizer :rabbit: bunny, it keeps going and going and going... and we can keep coming back and back and back!  How great is that?!

Zeva - I am right there with you. I won't even say, but.... well... I am right there with you, like I said.  Losers we are, only today, not the kind of loser we were hoping for!  No big deal, because we have done it before and we can do it again.  It's just like falling off a bike right?  We KNOW how to do it, so it's just the matter of getting back on.

Changes - I second your post!!!

Sunshine - I need some help!!! :tongue::tongue::tongue:

So my computer at worked crashed and burned last Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving.  I immediately got on the tele and ordered a new one from Dell and it arrived today.  I spent the whole day installing software and updating and all that jazz.  The part I was dreading went smoother than expected, and the rest (what I thought was going to be a breeze) was a battle... very frustrating.  I feel so drained tonight.

And my diet?  Oh ya... what diet was that?  Sausage was on the menu, but I don't recall seeing SAUSAGE ENCHILADA !  And I had cheese on my menu (which, btw I also added to the enchilada), but I had to have CHEESECAKE, in addition... seperate meal, of course.  Then, there were the nuts on my menu, also, which materialized in the form of a SNICKERS BAR.  Needless to say, I am utterly disgusted with myself at the moment.  I don't know what the heck is going on with me hormonally, but I can tell you I don't like it one bit! :nono:  Yet, I know this will pass (it better be soon, too!).  I promise I am going to pull myself together and get back to my old self.  You know... the one who lost all that weight pretty fast and was encouraging instead of whining and complaining?  Where did that girl go?  I am going to dig her out tonight and tomorrow she will be here... I promise.  Meanwhile, I am going to have a Vodka martini and be thankful that tomorrow is a new day!  This diet rocks because we know we can wipe our slates clean.  I love that!

Webfairy and all...yes, tomorrow is a new day full of promise and new beginnings....it will be what we make.  Let's all pick up the pieces and have good things to report by this time tomorrow.  It is up to us...there are plenty of excuses each day to blow it...but at some point we just have to bite the bullet and make it happen!  I for one want to be slim and healthy...and not have regrets of regaining what I have worked so hard to lose!!  How about you?  I want to fit into those Zeva boots...skinny jeans etc:grin:  And I don't want to feel bloated and "uffda-y" anymore..hheeheee  Enough already...let's turn this ship around and get serious tomorrow...and drink your water!!
See you all here tomorrow...turning over a new leaf...it is after all a new month...so let's go team!
Hugs all
