Cubs~let me be the first to congratulate you!!! I am so proud of you! I know it's been frustrating at times, but you have done so well. You figured out what works and what doesn't. Thanks for all of our talks and our cheat meals together...so where do you want to go to celebrate....hehe! Just kidding...
You have been an inspiration here with your words of wisdom....thank you!!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome back.
Day 1 went fabulous. I am in the middle of rearranging rooms. I'm moving my office and reclaiming the family room, hopefully it will keep my mind off eating especially on fruit day. I really didn't plan ahead to start a cycle this week so not a whole lot of fresh fruit in the house. Guess that sandwich will have to be a huge one!!!!
Web, how long before you noticed a difference once you started taking thyroid meds? I did some research and can't believe all my symptoms were related to thyroid!!! Also my cholesterol is pretty high and read that it can be related to thyroid as well. I sure hope that's the case.
So I guess I'm on shrinking violets since I started Mon?

| Quick question guys. I'm on my veggie day and I wanted to make a salad for dinner, but I wasn't sure what type of dressing i should use. I know it says low cal, but what kind should I use to be on the safe side? Italian? raspberry vinaigrette? I just want to make sure I don't sabotage my veggie day with too much dressing. Thanks!

Well last week was vacation for me in which I fell off the wagon you could say. When you are camping and boating with family it is just too hard and expensive to pack two sets of meals one for yourself and one for your family. So, instead of 3 cheat days I actually had 7. I got back on the plan yesterday and saw a 1.5 pound loss as of this morning. I am hoping the weight will keep melting off today and the next 10 days. I have another big holiday weekend out of town coming up for the 4th but I am going to do my best to stick to the plan. If not atleast eat a lot of salad and fruit and veggies along with my protein. If i can do that I will atleast stay close to where I am now. I got into the potato chips and too many hotdogs last week while on vacation.
Wish me luck. The nice thing about this plan seems to be if you gain back over your cheat days the weight comes off quickly and you start dipping below your last cycle end weight.
What does everyone eat for a sweet snack? I am really digging the fruit salad and it is so easy to make.

Tinker-You can use any lo-cal dressing. I personally can't stand lo-cal dressings. (Plus I'm not a fan of all the artificial "stuff" in them). I'm Italian and only make my own vinaigrettes. What I try to do for myself is just use less dressing. You'd be suprised how little it actually takes to make the salad taste good. Also, try using more vinegar to oil ratio. The usual portion is about 3 parts oil (and I always use EVOO) to vinegar. I personally don't like my salad too vinegary, but sometimes I'll use fresh squeezed lemon juice instead of the vinegar and then if I use less oil it tastes better to me. We also like balsamic vinegar the best and I think you need less oil with that as well. Hope that all made sense and will help you with your dilemna.

Hey Snowbird. I answered you earlier and lost the whole darn post. I hate when that happens. So in a nutshell, it took me a few weeks to get the right dosage of meds for my thyroid, but after that it was great. I wasn't tired any more and I did not gain any more weight. I felt like a new person (but still fat so I started this diet ). My cholesterol was very high (306 I think) which was found out when they did my labs along with my thyroid discovery. So the cholesterol meds lowered them quite a bit but I went off them thinking I am thin now and don't need them anymore. Wrong! My doc says it is genetic with me, so I am back on cholesterol meds. It's a vicious cycle.
Omayra - Thanks for that info on the WF vinaigrette. I have to get over there and get some of those products and try them.
Tinker - I am with Cubs, and go with vinaigrettes. (Of course, I am Italian, too! )
The baby shower lasted until 11pm and I didn't get home until midnight last night. I am beat today, but had a chance to check out the pics I took, and it really turned out cute. My daughter was so happy and we had a great time. She is still due (no baby Lilah yet) so I will let you know when she has her. I am so tired I think I will go to bed early tonight. I have been barely keeping my eyes open here at work today.
P.S. Oh ya... Cubs!! That got deleted with my last post that disappeared... CONGRATULATIONS on becoming a DISTINGUISHED MEMBER! And Happy Anniversary!!

Webfairy, no problem. So far, that dressing as well as their regular and creamy italian dressings as well as their bleu cheese dressing and dip are the best if you have to eat veggies. Other than that, I prefer their chocolate dip and syrup.
Other than that, I think I'm sticking to DaVinci sugar free/cal free gourmet syrups when I'm not craving chocolate.

Omayra - What is True Lime powder? And where do you get it?
I just updated my before and after pics by adding one from my daughter's baby shower yesterday. It turned out smaller than I thought, but it still gives you an idea of my size. It has now been 8 months since I "ended" the diet, I wanted to show that I am still maintaining for the new members. Also, since I had the breast reduction in February, it helped to make a difference in my overall appearance. Anyways, I thought I would add the pic so I can PROVE that maintaince after this diet CAN work.

Thanks, Sunshine! You know I love you!
(I swear, I did not pay her to say that! ) Seriously, isn't it great to know that we have a tool for not only getting us to a healthy weight, but to keep us there? I know this sounds kind of silly, but I am so thankful I "stumbled" across this diet!!!

Webfairy, you'll find True Lemon products at the spices/herbs aisle. There's True Lemon, True Lime and True Orange. They're crystalized citrus juice products that are calorie free.
Go to http://www.truelemon.com
You can use they're crystalized lemon and lime to substitute the juice. I know lemon juice is allowed and lime juice isn't much different but fresh lemons and limes can get expensive sometimes.

Yay Cubs! Good for you! Congratulations.... We are so lucky to have you here! You have met your goal, and are now holing steady...what an inspiration to all of us, that it can be done..20 pounds or 100 like our dear AMJ. It's so good to see you back and doing so well!
Joanne, I am so proud of your "thiscloseto70" pound loss. Isn't it such a great feeling? I am thiscloseto 60 pounds down, and am really happy about that. I still dont see it when I look in the mirror, but I sure dont fit into any of my old clothes, so something must be happening huh?
FFF's we are so close to the finish...tomorrow I have fro-yo for 1 meal...fruit salad des for another.....milk for another..and finally turkey and cheese for the last one...what kind of crazy day is that? I will definately make my frozen banana sunday again, as my fruit salad dessert again, that was amazing! So many treats in 1 day!!! I'm just getting home, and this is my first chance at the computer. Hope everyone is well, and I'll see you all tomorrw! Good night

Thanks so much for the tips. I did end up taking my measurements and weight. Bad, but not as horrible as I thought it would be.
Congratulations on the big weight loss! Any loss is good, but wow 70 pounds! I can't wait to be able to say that about myself.
It's become very frustrating over the last few years, trying to lose weight. I can see what I could look like in my head, but can't seem to achieve it. Have often thought that I might even be afraid to achieve it because i've become so "comfortable" with my current state of being. I think in the past I sabotaged myself. It seems very silly to me to be so afraid of failure that I would give up the life, health, & body that I want so desperately, but I think that's exactly what's happening.
It's really great to have a safe place to say things like that. Thanks to all for letting me share with you. Sorry if the post is too long! Have a great day!

Karen/WW....many of us "got comfortable" but still felt "uncomfortable" about ourselves. I think that if you have no hope(because of multiple diet failures) you just start thinking that way to get by. With this plan you can have hope and success...that changes the game! When you know that it IS possible...your head lines up with your heart and you go for it....the body follows. We can not be led by our bodies...cravings ..moods etc...after a while we just feel worse and worse and our health suffers. With this plan...if you don't cheat....the cravings diminish so greatly that it makes staying on the plan easy! And you start to actually feel more energetic and physically better...which makes getting out and doing things like walking easier too. This is a great place to share your thoughts and feelings because we are all fellow strugglers who understand and we help each other find success! We can't do the work for you....but we will be here to cheer you on!

Omayra - Thanks, I will check out those products! I never heard of them before.
Karen - All of us have been "there"... the thoughts, the feelings, etc. so we can relate to yours. Just believe it IS possible and you CAN do it, and MIH - MAKE IT HAPPEN! We look forward to celebrating your successes with you! It's so much easier (and fun) when you don't feel like you are doing it alone.

Web, just checked out your pics.....WOWEE-WOW-WOW! You look great!
WW, like SS and Web said, we have all been there, and are there, and will be there...just like you. Sunshine said we can't do the work for you, but let me tell you, this forum is the main reason for being able to stick to the diet for this long. Everytime I put something in my mouth I shouldn't have, I feel like I need to stand on the confession podium, and tell you all what I did....but it goes both ways, its not all bad...there are so many good things we share too....like I FINALLY BROKE INTO THE 170'S!!!!!! So, we have eachother through the journey and it is a great feeling to know we arent alone!
When I weighed this morning, I was 178.8......I havent been that weight since high school.....I am working on moving down even further...but I did it....finally! 7 more meals in the cycle and hopefully I will see a solid 178 at the end.....**keeping my fingers crossed it doesnt go up!!!** I still cant believe I made it this far, and know I will be in my new "comfortable" zone very soon!

Just a friendly reminder....on fruit day ....try washing and freezing grapes in a ziplock baggie...wonderful for these hot days of summer. Also freeze any of the fresh fruits and make a slushie and eat with a spoon. The frozen grapes(on any menu day they appear) are great to eat slowly as a dessert or snack or at your desk....they last and last...very refreshing!
Hope you are all doing well and getting creative to make this work for you!

Thanks so much for the support Sunshine, Webfairy, & z1434eva. It's so nice to come here and visit with people who are going through the same journey.
I just completed day three of Beyond Calories. So far, I've been able to stick to the diet and am very encouraged with progress to this point. I don't know if I've lost any weight yet. I'm trying to stay away from the scale until the ten days are up. But I already feel like I'm losing some of the puffiness that I've felt, especially in my tummy. I'm a bit of a sweet freak as well and have almost given in a couple of times to my sweet tooth. But I can already feel those cravings lessening. YEA!!!
I weighed in my first day at 215, but I know that number is soon to be a thing of the past. I just stumbled across FL4I & BC on the internet and am so happy I did. It really seems like this is going to be a new way of life & eating that I can live with. Haven't felt deprived at all!!
Congratulations to all of you who have made the decision to be healthier & happier! Keep up the good work!

Hey PRose, always good to see my buddy posting!
Karen, I'm glad you found the diet, and all of us too! 215 will be a number of the past forever...very soon. I encourage you to drink water, tea, crystal light, whatever you can, in huge quanities! I find I have better losses when I drink at least twice as much water. It really helps with all the puffiness.
Well, today is the last day of the cycle....I am really looking forward to the weekend. For the first time in, well, ever, I dont have anything I want to devour over CD's. We are getting together with friends and I am making a macaroni salad, and a 7 layer dip with tortilla chips....I will have to do my shopping tomorrow, better to save those trips for the last minute savings on things! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, stay strong this last day FFF's!

Happy last day of your cycle, FFFs! YAY, tomorrow is weigh-in day, so that means MORE losses to celebrate! SVs, you are 1/3 through your cycle. Good job! I think it is exciting to weigh in after each cycle and see your accomplishments. It's like a bi-weekly present to yourself. And you deserve it!
Still waiting on my daughter and soon-to-be granddaughter to arrive. She had to go to the hospital yesterday for a Morphine shot as she is in a lot of pain. I can't believe they give a pregnant woman Morphine! I just wish this baby would hurry up and get here. My daughter is having trouble dialating, so they thought if she could relax and sleep, it would be easier for her to dialate. I don't know. I'm getting a bit anxious and nervous. If something doesn't happen soon I think I will need to go to the hospital and get something! LOL

I was supposed to start my cheat weekend today but I decided to throw in a fruit day to this BC cycle. I didn't even bother weighing in but I measured my waist and I lost an extra .5 inch. This cycle I've lost a total of 2.5 inches off my waist.
This will be a good weekend. My in-laws are in town and I'll be celebrating my boys' birthday a week early. They turn 2 on the 11th but my in-laws will be gone by then.

Thanks so much for the support & feedback you've all provided. It makes the different eating schedule & foods easier to stick to.
Congrats to kitty & omayra on your losses!!

I'm at work today. There were hardly any cars on the roads or freeway driving in this morning. It seems that most people have off today. So while I was driving here, feeling sorry for myself having to come into work, I realized... hey, I have a job. I am sure there are many others out there who are unemployed, that would trade places with me in a heartbeat! So if any of you are at work today feeling the same way I was, you might want to consider the alternative. There is always something to be thankful for!
Omayra - Tell your little twin boys Happy Birthday ! I hope you have a great time celebrating. Losing 2.5" off your waist is fantastic news! I think I am going to try a BC cycle, or maybe 1/2 cycle and see what happens. I am ok on scale weight, but I would like to lose a little off my waist. Thanks for sharing your discovery! I was listening to a Jillian Michaels video that was really interesting. We all store our fat/weight in different areas on the body. She said hers goes to her butt area. Mine definitely goes to my waist. If I gain a couple of pounds, you really can't tell at a glance, but my pants are tight closing. It immediately goes there! I wish we could be in charge of redistributing our fat.
Kitty - Congratulations on your 2.8 lb. loss!
Just an FYI - On that Jillian Michaels video I mentioned, she said that you can throw yourself into hypothyroidism from years of crash dieting. I had no idea, but I guess it makes sense. So I thought I would pass that along, for those who didn't know.
WW - Thanks for the wishes. Added P.S. CONGRATULATIONS on the 5 lbs. loss so far. That is wonderful! Keep it up!!
FFFs - Happy CDs (perfect for the 4th of July celebrations). Remember you can enjoy yourself, and still follow the diet guidelines to keep any gains to a minimum. It's all about your choices. I can't wait to hear the rest of your losses!
SVs - Keep on truckin! Your reward is coming up next week!
Have a great day, and drink your water!

Good Morning
I have been hanging in there. This morning my shingles pain decided to return, not too bad but enough to make me take notice. I'm still working on my room changes, I've got the office moved and the family room cleaned, then I thought ----- good time to clean the blinds, then once they were down better take care of the water stains on the window sills, well after stripping, sanding(dust everywhere again!) they are ready to restain. what a JOB, certainly didn't think it would take all week.
We are going to a BBQ tommorrow which I'm sure WON'T be FL4I friendly but will do my best. We'll be taking our ladder golf game so hopefully will work off a few calories. On Sun I"m going horseback riding with my granddaughter for her 14th birthday . Now that will be a workout!!
Have a great day and a happy 4th tommorrow

| Hello everyone! Woe is me....thats all I can say this morning! I was down in the 170's 2 days ago, and today when I weighed in, I was 4 pounds higher than yesterday morning! How in the world could that have happened. I followed everything, no deviations at all, and TOM weight isn't due for another week. So, WEB, please put me down for a measly 2.2 pounds. I am just in shock......I have guests coming right now to swim, and have a last minute B-Day party for my DD....Have a grest day everyone, I will check back to talk more later!

Sorry folks not been about so busy. Lost 2lb
Off to Wimbeldon tomorrow (note my text colour) so sad I am not seeing Murray in the final - although I am sure most of you are all chuffed. However I don't think Roddick has any hope at all so a straight set drubbing I think. Going to have a great time in London anyway with my hubby and no kids for the first time in about 4 years!!!!
Back on cycle on Monday upon my return.
Good luck all FFFs for weigh in.

Hi everyone!!! - Been gone so long don't even know where to start, except to say hi again! Haven't had a chance to read any posts since last week, so have some major catching up to do. But it looks to me like SlimNeel is back - Hey! great to 'see' your shining face again, Slim! And I did read a post of yours last week about your 3 year old thinking my avatar doggy's wearing green glasses LOL! And AK_Snowbird! Wonderful to 'see' you again, too! Will catch up on everyone else after I get a chance to read back a ways. My company for the week just left this a.m. and I am pooped. Did stay as closely as I could to several small 'meals'/day and as much water as I could manage. Was only up 0.6 pound from my last day on my last BC cycle, which ended June 28. With that, I am going to claim that I think I am still an FFF and ask Web to put me down with another loss this time around of 2.6 pounds. Bringing me just ~~squeaking under~~ 140 at 139.8 for the first time in a looooong time. (I even had my annual DQ Blizzard during the cycle - just got right back on the plan.)
Welcome to all you newbies who have decided to embrace the one plan that WILL help you to lose those nasty extra pounds, be they many or few. You will love it here - So many wonderful helpful people.
Happy 4th of July weekend to all my friends, old and new. Have a wonderful weekend!!
Big hugs all around!

Zeva - {{{WHOOSH!}}} {{{SMACK!}}} Do you know what those sounds are? My whip for your "measily 2.2 lb." comment!! Bad, Zeva... bad, girl! You KNOW we don't say "only" or "measily" or any adjective that degrades any weight loss. I can't believe that came from your mouth (or keyboard). So please rephrase it with something like " I am happy to report that I have lost 2.2 lbs... YAY!" You are quite an inspiration to many, so please act like it. Man, I hate being the disciplinarian, but someone has to do it! Btw, CONGRATULATIONS!
Jane - Congratulations on your losses, too! Have a great time with DH and tell us all about it when you get back.
Sunshine - Thank you so much for the reminder that us women are not just our children's mother. Even with them grown and moved out, I still have a hard time remembering that! Wow, that feels good!
Annie - I hope you have a chance to relax now, just in time for the 4th of July festivities. Good job on continuing to lose, even with guests in your home all week, and not adhering to the diet. You obviously stuck with the guidelines and prove that it can be done! Thanks for that!

I weighed in at 166.4. about 3 cycles ago I weighed 163 but at least I'm below 168 again. When I weigh close to 170, I know I need to get serious so I feel relieved.
I'm doing my best not to go crazy this cycle.
I went out to dinner with my husband to Chili's and I only had an apppetizer and dessert. I didn't bother getting a full meal because after a few tortilla chips and and cup of chili, I already felt full. I had their sweet shots which are basically dessert samples in shot glasses. I had a key lime, brownie and red velvet cake. By the time I got to the red velvet cake, I could only finish half of it. I only had 2.5 shots.
For breakfast I had a brownie and for snack I had about 5 chocolate troufles prior to my dinner at chili's. Hopefully I won't gain much back.

Good morning, and Happy 4th of July!
Web, just to clarify, I wasn't so much upset with my 2.2 pound loss, as I was the 4 pound gain the day before. I'm just baffled over why that could have happened...I know I'm a slow overall loser, and that's ok...I just wish I knew what happened..that's all!
I was up until 6 am this morning, unable to sleep. Finally fell asleep, now I think I'll look up a movie to watch. There are several good ones out I'd love too see. My 3 hours sleep should be enough to get me through the day, and evening we have planned with our friends! I hope you all have a wonderful day, and a great rest of your weekend.

Zeva - I know your schedule gets hectic, but you MUST sleep. It is important to the overall picture. I was having trouble sleeping a while back. Even though my kids are grown, when they have "stuff" going on in their lives I still worry, probably more now since they are not in my "control". But the lack of sleep was really affecting me physically and mentally. I did not want to get into the cycle of pills, so I tried a few homeopathic pills which really didn't help much. Then I happened across a spa cd and it reminded me of the music when I had gone for a accupressure massage. So I pictured myself in the room where I got the massage, imagined all the surroundings and how relaxing and peaceful it felt, and soon I drifted off. The cd runs for about an hour and at first I was staying awake for over 1/2 the cd... then maybe 20 minutes, then 10 and now I barely get through the first track and I am out. It's just a thought. But I am a real big believer in sleep. People often take it for granted and don't realize how important 8 hours sleep a night really is, and that it DOES affects us. I hope you can find something to help. I feel for you, as I know what it's like. Hang in there.
About the 4 lb. gain... I know exactly what you are talking about. That has happened to me several times (at least 3 lbs. in one day). I was like "WT? How can I gain 3 lbs. in 1 day?!" Of course, you really didn't eat that much to gain like that in 1 day, but your body can be holding on to food, water, etc. and the scale only knows what you weighed the day before (because you were "emptied" out at that reading and then since that time your body was reflecting what food and water it had not yet had a chance to dispel (or just hormone stuff that plays havoc on us women). Our water weight fluctuates alot, especially when we don't drink enough to rid ourselves of the water we were retaining. So since you weighed in before your body released all that (which easily could have been another day or two) it is a shocker. That is why it's not great to weigh yourself everyday. It isn't really an accurate picture of what is going on overall... just for the moment. I watch this stuff a lot since I am a everyday weigher and I see the crazy stuff that goes on. I guess it is more frustrating when we are dieting, and it happens around "weigh-in day". That can be discouraging (numbers wise). Just remember it is a very temporary thing. You have done so fantastic and continue to lose and that is what counts. I hope I wasn't too hard on you with the "whipping" LOL I just think sometimes we get so caught up in the "numbers" that we forget all the wonderful accomplishments we have made. We are harder on ourselves than anyone else would be. You are truly an inspiration, and isn't it funny that after I said that, Yaya mentioned the same thing. I just want you too keep remembering that, especially when you have a 4 lb. in 1 day weight gain!!
Yaya - Woohoo on your 2.5 loss! I am happy you are still hanging in there and losing! Good for you!
HAPPY INDEPENDANCE DAY, everyone!!!

Thanks Web, and you too Yaya! Thanks for keeping me in line! I do tend to forget the 55 pounds already gone....I'm just so afraid, to have them come back, the 4 pounds freaks me out. I do weigh in the same time everyday, wearing the same thing....(nothing) lol.....so, I dont know???
I did take the kids to see Ice Age 3...Great movie...it was just as fun, if not more, than the other 2!
