Hello all: I guess I wasn't the only one to gain weight on veggie day. I didn't
think I would considering I have been starving today. I am barely making it my 2 1/2 hrs before I want to eat again. I am drinking gallons of water today as well. I hope this is an abberation cause I love veggie day with veggie chili and fresh pinto beans and pico.

Hi guys!! Gosh I've missed so much! I've been with the flu so last Monday I officially started my second cycle & this time around I've checked my weight DAILY! lol Am still sick so my exercise hasn't been great & I haven't been perfect this time around... so far I've only lost 2 lbs (without counting the lbs I lost from cheats) I'll be more on track next cycle...
I changed my food choices for my next cycle tho.. this time something from the list I picked was cottage cheese... I've never had this before... any suggestions you guys could give me?! I really hate milk! (I only drink soy milk) I do however LOVE cheese, yogurt & other Dairy products!
A big hug to you all & a warm welcome to all the newbies!
Missed u all, DK FFF

Hi! I might as well add to the list...I also gained 1/2 pound after veggie day. I am hoping to see the loss tomorrow. I can't wait for cheat weekend for some reason...

DrkNgil - Sorry you were sick! If you get cottage cheese with something like chicken or fish, you can mix cottage cheese and salsa for a nice topping (heated up). It's really good and a nice change for a condiment type addition . I love getting cottage cheese so I can do that. Hopefully Sunshine will see your post and tell you how she makes her mock cheesecake with cottage cheese.

OK gals and guys....do we need to have the "don't go by the scale" talk again?
REALLY....if you weigh everyday you will see ups and downs...this is NORMAL for the human race...even non-dieters!! It concerns me that some of you are cutting out beans because you see the scale go up. Beans are full of fiber....fiber holds water and stays in the gut a little longer....hence the scale gain(not fat gain...there is a difference...the scale can be up and you can still be losing pounds and inches)...BUT beans are so important for good health. They will actually cause WEIGHT LOSS....not weight gain...when added to your food plan.
The scale is NOT your boss....if you only weighed day one and day 12 you would not be freaked out by every little bump in the diet road . The fl4i plan works!!....all our biggest losers had beans....AMJ is down 100 pounds and she is the "queen of beans"LOL and taught us the crockpot method!
So folks...either don't weigh everyday or else EXPECT ups with the downs...it is the synergestic effect of the diet that works.
OK...I'm done now and getting off my soapbox
Hugs
SS
PS...cottage cheese is good with chopped herbs and garlic and green onion, I LOVE it plain with pepper, with oregano, basil and a little garlic, with salsa, or my favorite for a sweet treat....blend the cottage cheese until sort of smooth with powdered drink mix...lemonaide is nice(you can also add the tinest bit of vanilla) and dust with cinnamon(sort of like a mock cheesecake filling)....or add almond extract and sweetener or instant coffee and dust with unsweetened cocoa powder etc...make a tiny bit and see if you like it before making alot.

Sunshine: Thanks for the pep talk. Sometimes I forget that. I wish I could hide the scale for the whole cycle but alas will work through it.

Thank you Sunshine! We definitely needed that pep talk!!! And, btw, feel free to jump on your soapbox anytime! It's true... that darn scale can rule our lives, if we let it. It has the power to ruin our whole day (just ask me!). Our weight does fluctuate due to many reasons, hormones, water, etc. and it is not realistic to blame it on poor beans! Especialy with all the protein we eat on this diet, we need all the fiber we can get. The beans, veggies and fruit are the items on this diet where we can get our needed fiber. I got really bloated when I had 3 meals of beans for veggie day one cycle. That was a little much. But I always had beans on my cycles, and some cycles I lost 1/2 to 1 lb. some I gained the day after veggie day, but ALL cycles I lost weight. I know I have said I lost 45.5 lbs. on the 10 cycles, but that was off of my original weight. On the 10 cycles I lost a total of 61.5 lbs., so that is an average of 6 lbs per cycle and I ate beans!!!
It's so hard not to weigh daily. I really need to make an effort to only weigh once a week. Before I started this diet (when I was overweight) I never even owned a scale. I had to go buy one when I started FL4I. Now it is a ritual with me. Every morning I wake up, go to the restroom, weigh myself, exercise and then get ready and go to work. I think I need to cut out one of those tasks.... I won't go to work every day... I mean I won't weigh myself every day.

Ok...I give in....My name is Zeva, and I'm a scale-a-holic! I know the beans are great, and to have them a couple times on cycle is fine. I love them! I just can't have them all the time, especially all day for veggie day. I can feel the bloat even with all the water I drink. I admit I weigh everyday, but I do use it as a guide so I know if I'm drinking enough, what foods don't agree with me, you know? I do get frustrated when I see the scale move up rather than down when I'm following the plan exactly. But the mid cycle gains dont happen that often...the losses do, and it keeps me on track...not to give in to that banana cream pie! Today was a light, day calorie wise. I do feel hungry with a half hour to go for my last meal of apples and grapefruits. Tomorrow seems more substantial, and I am so excited! I still get excited about having chicken and cheese, and roast beef and milk! I steam the milk, add a splenda and a few drops of vanilla, and I have a nice hot dessert! Yum! I hope I can finish the cycle a couple more pounds down.....the dress I bought for my brothers wedding is sooooo awsome! I love the way it looks and feels on...plus the black satin platform heels I bought to go with it...as if 5'8" isn't tall enough! I am really looking forward to knocking everyones socks off! Not to draw attention from my brother and new sister in law, of course! Well, time to watch a movie with my girls, and get them ready for bed......

I posted some new progress pics on my blog. If you go to my profile there's a link to my blog.
For the record, I don't need glasses, but the ones I'm wearing in the bottom pic are just some cheap reading glasses I used as a prop when I was goofing around with my camera LOL.
I thought it was about time since I hadn't posted anything since July last year.

Sigh. its been a really crummy few days for me personally. Yesterday was my day 1 on the diet and i did great! today...all fruit day...thought i was doing great until about 7:30 pm. sigh. had pasta. hubby made for dinner. i had all intentions of having my baked apple.
I hope this doesnt mess me up for the entire rest of the cycle??
Anyone have experience with cheating on fruit day?? Should i just continue on like this never happened?

Omayra - Oh my! You are so pretty! Woweee. My favorite picture of you is the second one with the greeenish-bluish dress on. Gorgeous! You look smaller than 154, too! Really, you look amazing!!!
Zeva - You will have to take pics with your beautiful new dress and share it with us.
Princess - I would not give up. Pick up where you left off and do't beat yourself up. Just try to be strong when temptation comes along. You CAN do it. Just say NO! You can always add in a fruit day at the end or whenever if you want for that last boost before weigh in.

Oh My, Omayra!!! You look amazing! I love the pictures!
Web, I didn't really start taking pictures of myself until I started up my space with my friends...I dont even have a before picture. I still dont see the change in myself when I look in the mirror...weird, seeing as I have lost 40 pounds, but my mom has a picture of me and my brothers from last Christmas time on her piano along with this years photo...my jaw dropped to the ground! I saw the difference for the first time, and wow. I'm sure I will take tons of pictures at the wedding, so when one of you tells me how to do it, I will post a picture of me now(after the weekend)....in my BLACK dress....to answer you Sunshine!
Princess, hang in there.....stuff like this happens. Just keep going tomorrow, day 3, like normal. Be strong for the rest of the cycle....you will be so happy you hung in there. The benefits of the diet are so great...you can do it!

Princess...one thing to keep in mind...if you absolutely must cheat....have something on the DG list...have some cheese and meat or nuts etc....I find that things made of flour are the worst for messing with the losses. If I want pasta RIGHT NOW ...lol...I drain a can of french style green beans and heat them and put spaghetti sauce over...even a little parmesan cheese and eat with or without sausage or meatball(no bread in it)....it hits the spot and no flour products....and doesn't do much damage to the plan....just veg and meat.
Om...those photos really show your losses...you look amazing...DH is pretty cute too...one special
couple! Three babies and you are back to looking great! You are an inspiration! Congrats!

Zeva - Isn't that exciting when you can see it in pictures? It is so hard to notice when you see the everyday transformation, as it is subtle. But to look at and compare two pictures, before and after the loss, it is truly amazing to see the difference!
Ok, I finally posted the weight loss cycle results for the last FFF and SV cycles (I had forgotten that our dear Zeva braved one out on her own at Christmas!). Here is the link to both results.... http://www.caloriesperhour.com/forums/forum3/7256.html
I have been having sciatica pain all day (since last night, actually), and it is really hard to sit still. So I am going to take a pill and go to bed early. Of course, what was my first thought? Oh, the pill will slow down my system and... well, you know I am obssessing about weighing tomorrow because I am sure the pill will add at least 2 lbs to my weight, right? So I think I will try to skip weighing tomorrow. It will be hard for me, but I will be mad if I really am up 2 lbs! hehehe
Good night everyone!

Web... sciatica... oweeee. I'm no stranger to it. Do you have a chiropractor? I finally found a good one and all my lower back problems (which included but were not limited to sciatica) have gone away.
Om... my goodness! Do you look great or what??? Isn't it a treat to do the work then get the reward? Good for you! Now you've got me thinking of posting pics. I just worry about privacy issues on the internet. Maybe all of us can figure out a way to post pics that can't be pirated? Or am I being too paranoid?
Any ideas, folks? It's just so good to put faces to names, you know? Web posted a pic a while back and that was so welcome. So... what can we do?
Best,

Web-SJSU is my old alumni!!! I'm originally from Monterey. Moving to Vegas was total culture shock. I'd move back in a minute if I could afford it.
Canadians--a day or two ago someone mentioned having to pay a handler to show their dog. i did agility and obedience w/ my sheltie in his younger days. Agility was not easy carrying around extra weight. Now i'm a mom and even in worse condition. i'd love to get back into it. Now I'm a single parent of a 3 and five year old. the older has Autism and keeping him moving forward takes everything I have emotionally and financially. Starting this eating program (I don't like the "d" word) is the first selfish thing i've done in years. But our families need us healthy. I can't wait for the first noticable change in my stamina when it comes to trying to win a game of tag!!!
I'm glad the scale issue was covered. I haven't bought one yet. Maybe I shouldn't because I don't know if I could resist the temptation. I did take my measurements over 7 different body areas to try and keep focused on my size instead of a scale. thats also why i'm focusing on a percentage of needed loss (36%!!) instead of a weight. It's probably futile but I have to address the psychology of how I got here.
I survived day 3 of my first cycle. I don't think i've eaten this much protein i the past month! It was not easy to feed the kids left over burritos to the dogs!
It's great having "someone" to discuss this with. i feel like I'm being judged if i talk about obesity to people I know.
Good luck to everyone in the coming days.......

Morning all
SVs day 3, FFFs day 10.
Princess don't worry about the cheat - just keep going, I often have a handfull of nuts on Fruit day and it has not effected my loss.
Sunshine - what wise words, I prefer to go by my clothes - and they are looser. I normally weigh day 1 - obviously, day 3 after fruit day - I am down 3 this morning by the way - then perhaps day 8 or 9 then at the end. I think if you must weigh daily you must accept that there will be days you will be disappointed and not understand why there is a gain.
Beans - I never chosen baked or pinto on the food choice but I have it in 3 of my 4 meals on veg day.
Om - you are a babe - that is all I can say. A total inspiration for L4L.
Have a fun day.

I survived 2 days, no cheating. Wed. has always been my weigh in day, so this morning I was down 3 lbs. It will become harder tomorrow when my husband comes home. I have very little will power.
I woke up this morning to -26 degrees celcius, wind chill of -36. I wish I didn't have to go out but yoga starts this morning.
My sandwich for supper last night was fantastic.

Poof- It is the frozen tundra here in Chicagoland as well. I am terrible at converting Celsius to Fahrenheit, but I think we are probably similar this morning. (about 6 degrees F). I can't remember if you said where you are in Canada.
LARRY-I saw Grimsby on the map and you are really close to Niagra Falls and western New York. No wonder you have similar weather to us Chicagoans. Prepare yourself, buddy, the big chill is headed your way, if you haven't already experienced it. We are not supposed to get above 0 tomorrow. The heat vent is right under my computer desk, so it's one of the warmer spots in the house. I may be "chatty" tomorrow. hehe!
Weighing in (pun intended) on the daily poundage. I have been weighing every day and I do see wide fluctuations, as well. If you can stand the "heat" of seeing your weight go up and down, then continue to weigh daily, if not----just weigh at the beginning and end.

Thanks for the comments on the pics guys! I'm still a litle frustrated that I'm 5 pounds heavier than those pics now but it could be worse.
Hopefully I'll be fully back on track by the end of the next cycle.
I have Myspace and I have it set to private just because I have pics of my kids there. Only friends can see those pics.
Whenever your pics are posted on the net there's always a risk, so I only recommend pics of you alone rather than pics with family members. If you're trying to post pictures of your results you can find a way to blur your face out so no one will know it's you.
Since my pictures aren't "suggestive" I'm not worried. I only worry about pics of my kids circulating the net.

Cubs~ I agree with you about the scale. I too weigh myself everyday, but I do realize the ups and downs in a cycle so I don't get discouraged...however, if that doesn't work for some people than don't do it. Also, I know I have had some cycles where I haven't lost that much weight, but I have lost inches instead...that's good too!
yes, the cold snap is headed our way....brrrrrr!!!

Hi Poof,
Really really cold, I'm not going out at all. They called me for overtime at work, and I said, no, no, no, not going out today at all. I'm down 3 1/2 pounds and am so excited. Fruit day was no where near as bad as I thought it would be. I think those giant grapefruits helped immensley.

Good morning, Only today and tomorrow and we are home free......(for the weekend..lol) Larry, I was thinking about the picture issue too. Is it possible to do a mass PM, to everyone with those pictures? Would that be safer? Is there a way to post the pictures, and remove them the same day after everyone has seen them??? Putting a face to a name is always nice, plus our transformations are all amazing! Everyone should be so proud!
I bought some new french vanilla splenda a while back for my coffee, and it was really good! This morning I discovered they also have mocha. I know not everyone is a big fan of splenda, but it is really good and helps me to get over my little sweetness meltdowns! I tried the mocha as soon as I got home, and it is also very good...just thought I'd share. If you use splenda and drink coffee, I recommend it!
Sushine, your green bean spaghetti sounds delicious! You are making me hungry, and I just ate!
Web, I sure hope you are back on you feet again. Back pain is no fun at all.......Get better soon!

Hey everyone! Its been a little while and theres sooooo much to read. Last week I started my first cycle since before the holidays. 3 days later I started PMSing and also got a nasty cold. The cold caused me to not want anything that wasnt warm the PMSing caused this horrible horrible feeling of not wanting anything but pasta. Shame on me.
My boyfriend and I made plans to go to Ocean City Maryland this coming summer with a buncha other couples so he promised me that this past monday he would start "dieting" with me. HE DID! But I wasnt able to start a new cycle this week because I had to keep my cheat weekends the same as what I had already planned out for. I have been eating extremely healthy this week though and have been drinking plenty of water. I was supposed to go back to the gym but I went snowboarding for my first time last Saturday... all of my muscles ache.
I feel like I've only gotten through one full cycle since I've started. In fact it has only been one full cycle. Very upsetting. Oh well life happens although it always seems to get in the way of the life I would like to have.
Everyone sounds like they're doing really well with their losses. Keep it up!

Sometimes I even eat cream cheese.

Poof...yes...basically any cheese that can be sliced...some have blue cheese, feta, pepperjack, swiss etc. I even have laughing cow light wedges when I need a portable cheese for the road. I think that part of the reason for the "slices" is to SEE how many you consume...hence portion control....most of us measure out nuts and don't sit in front of the TV with an open can for the very same reason....it is easy to eat mindlessly and not for true belly hunger or until just satisfied.

Happy Wednesday all! I had a bad night and had to get up at 2:30 am to take another half a pill. My stomach is very sensitive to pills and most pain killers make me naseous. So I only take half a pill instead of a whole. It doesn't really take the pain away but takes the edge off enough so I can sleep. Since I lost weight I hardly have this problem anymore. I have had it for 20 years (a deteriorating disc in my lower back) and there were times when it was so painful I couldn't handle it. I am pretty tough about pain, but back pain and toothaches are killers! Anyways, doctors usually give muscle relaxers and pain meds but I rarely take them. I end up throwing away almost full bottles 2 years later. But it was pretty bad yesterday and last night. I took another 1/2 this morning and I'm doing ok at the moment. I guess I should consult a chiropractor. My friend owns a chiropractic business so maybe I should call her. She has been trying to get me to come there for a while now. I am having breast reduction surgery on February 19th. So that will help this problem, also! I think I will wait to go to the chiropractor until after the surgery. I am going to be off work for 4 weeks and the surgeon said I will be on some heavy duty meds for the first week or two, so not sure how I am going to do with food and all. Maybe I will lose more weight without trying!

| Web fairy, I had the same problem this week, sciatica. I did go to the chiro and he helped, didn't make it go away but eased the pain. I'm sure if I went back it will help more. I had the breast reduction done many years ago, one of the best things I ever did in my life. You'll feel like a new woman. Good luck,

Cubs, you have to have soft yokes for corned beef hash! How else are you going to smash everything together in a horrible mess! I also top mine off with a shot of ketchup. The only time I eat ketchup and eggs together. Now that you mention french toast....hee hee hee!
poof, I have lots of different cheeses when I am allowed cheese. It depends on what combo I get. I do use feta, brie, blue...as well as one of my favorites...Panela. You can pan fry this cheese and it holds it's shape. Sorta like fried mozzerella, without the breading. Fantastic with fresh tomatoes. You can use grated cheese for sure, like Sunshine said, it probably has something to do with portion control...seing how much you are eating.
So gang, I have emailed some pictures to Web, from just after I started the diet, and another from mid November. Between that time, I lost 30 pounds, and as of this morning I have lost 42. You will get the general idea anyway. I will try to post an even more recent picture after the wedding saturday.
Have a good day all!

In the first post I was very chatty and had many colorful whatnots, the second had cartoon swears (you know %$#@*^) because the first didn't go through, and the third I threatened to throw my laptop into a snowbank if my post didn't go through (didn't end up doing that because it's just too cold to open the door unnecssarily). So here we go again - let's see what did I have to say? Oh I remember - My fruit day was tough (and after I said that I liked fruit day ). I just couldn't get that satisfied feeling, was hungry all day. Had a small handful of nuts between fruit meals 2 and 3. Just had to take the edge off. Is it possible that I'm using up my food/fuel faster because of the cold If it's true I may go sit in the snow for awhile (Hee - Hee). Was still 1.2 lbs. from yesterday. Another I'm drinking alot of 50/50 tea (green and herbal with nothing added) and water - hot . Does watered down tea count toward my 8 - 10 waters per day I hope so 'cause as mentioned by many 'Baby it's cold outside'!!!
Had combo chicken and cottage cheese on my menu today. I put boneless/skinless chicken breast and some salsa into a foil pouch and baked for 30ish min. @ 350 and then put the cottage cheese on top. This is a twist (I think) to Webs original cottage cheese/salsa topper. Boy it was good. Chicken was moist and tender instead of the usually dry type I get. Have that combo again tomorrow YEAH!!!
Typing of WEB, I hope your back eases up for you. My Mom had a bout with sciatica that put her on the floor (hard surface) for about 2 weeks if I remember correctly (with a pillow under her knees). She was fine ever since. I have had some back problems (nothing like sciatica) and have gone to the chiropractor twice. The first time I was thinking 'waste of my time' but about 3 hours after the adjustment I was in love with the man. It did work for me, twice. Good luck.
OK, this is another chatty one - hope it goes through. Hugs to all!
Hang in there SVs and only one more day FFFs. Great loss wishes to all!

Hello all:
I have started doing a 30min workout 5 days a week... just a fat burning workout on my treadmill.
Today was a day off from it but I feel like I ate like a pig . I ate more today than I have in a long time and drank my water like a good soul. I hope that the workout will help me feel better and lose weight as a bonus.
Looks like tomorrows workout will be shoveling snow again. Lots of snow this winter (but I love it). I feel sorry for those of you in Canada. All of you must be way past frozen by now.
Good nite to all and only one more day to go!!!!
