Diane, wow! that is awesome!
Dee Dee, lol, that's good advice. But, I'm not guilty, actually! I have done really good and completely stuck to the menu. I just know that when I hit the beach this Saturday for 7 days, I won't be following the generator, and honestly, I can usually follow any diet for a couple months and then I begin to fall off because of boredom. I don't want this to happen to me on this diet, because I really feel like I have found the right one for me, so with all this in mind, and knowing myself as I do, I think this will be a great break. I will also be tricking my body...haha. I don't want it to get too used to the generator!

| Dee Dee - that's what I'm saying! Beating ourselves up does us no good at all. That's why I'm taking the break. It's been a bit of a struggle so I figure, don't fight it. As long as I don't keep up that mentality for six months I should be okay. And I know I won't. I'll be happy when it's time to start again and totally excited to see how well I do on my 4th cycle!

Hi there,
I've been a bit of a lurker myself lately, just taking a few minutes here and there to read but not having a chance to post! Life has been a bit of a whirlwind but with mostly good things.
I was discouraged last week after a not so great weigh in and then my choice weekend was not one of my proudest moments . I still have great faith in this diet and in myself, and...
I'm on day 3 today and I'm being very strict. I have not chosen nuts this cycle--not because they're bad, just because I was overdoing it with them. So, we shall see. Anyway, I already feel like my system is working better without some of my weekend excesses.
Anyway, Amj, that's so exciting that your beach trip is just about here and, wow, 40 pounds. You deserve a relaxing, metabolism-renewing break. Enjoy it!
Congratulations, also, Mavsfan and daughter--have a nice scrambled eggs and cashew-free break!
CarrieB, enjoy that break--you have a plan that sounds very logical. You're doing great
Hi C-Me, Hiker, Dee Dee, Diane (great job on those inches!), Rainbow, Sunshine, Larry, Mayflower, Joanne, and everyone!!!
I hope to be more in touch!

DianeB, well done! And to those who are "taking breaks"... I recommend you stiill eat 3 hours apart or so and don't stuff yourselves. Stay with the pattern, if not the exact plan.
The potential for sabotage in any diet begins in the mind, not the body. On FL4I, your body is really happy. It has no complaints at all. So... where is that voice coming from? It's all in our heads, folks. The body isn't bored in the least. So, we simply have to agree to disagree with our minds. Which is hard to do since we ARE our minds.
My mind sees me eating four or five Nathans hot dogs, for example. I say, wait... who are you to demand instant gratification? It's then I realize that I have more than one mind, more than one brain. I have the reptillian brain that pushes me towards as much food as it can for survival purposes, and I have the higher self brain, which is a bit like a surfer dude; calmer, in less of a rush, sees a bigger picture. It says, yes, Nathans hot dogs are the best, and maybe one day you'll have a couple, but... how happy has fat, salt and sugar made you? So, instead of a hot dog, why don't we slip into a bathing suit without embarrassment and go for a swim?
...And you know, I like swimming in a bathing suit I don't feel stupid in A LOT MORE than I like hot dogs.
We are not slaves to instinct. We have a say. Make a statement.
Best,
Lar

lla great advice! And to everyone else, well done on all your weight loss and to those who are struggling-this too will pass!
I am on day 4 of the 1st cycle with the old plan and I am feeling quite good. I avoided temptation on Tuesday (will tell you later what I meant by that) as I have only a few minutes to spare right now. Today is 1 fruit meal and 2 veggie meals for the day. As I detest fruit this is not one of my fav meals, but as I like veggies, it'll be okay .
I will post later on today with an update and my *temptation* story (quite proud of what I did).
Be safe and stay focused.

Lar, thanks for the post about our attitudes/mindset, I am really struggling right now but I haven't given up and that post helped me try and get things back into perspective. I wish I could say I'm back on track but every day seems to be a challenge to me and for some reason I am just not up to it. Very unlike me, usually once I set my mind on a path I follow it but for some reason I keep getting detoured. Well anyway, looking at it as needing to look at the negatives of overeating I think might help.
That's what great about this site, so many different ways of handling overeating or eating unhealthy food. My nephew who is 4 categorizes snacks into "healthy snacks" i.e. yogurt, cheese, fruit, eggs etc and "unhealthy snacks". Unhealthy snacks are measured and limited healthy snacks are not (within reason of course). I think he may be onto something.
Have a good day everyone.

I haven't had much time to write but just wanted to mention that the SF cake that losingwt posted was great. I made it Almond flavored with White Chocolate frosting (I posted in recipes forum). It was the hit of the birthday party. The two diabetics divided the leftover cake and took it home. Thank you losingwt!
Today is day three of cycle three. I'm at kind of a lull but still have a week and a half to lose a few more pound before vacation.
Have a good day everyone!

Amj - You have done a fantastic job and you deserve the relaxation and fun in the sun with your new bod! And what's more is that it's going to get even newer in days to come! LOL I'm guessing the "guilty" thing is - if the shoe fits, wear it - it fits me way too comfy!!!LOLOLOL I too agree with the finding the right diet for me, never been happier.
CB - sounds like you too are going to be just fine. We will all stick together and find our way back to the generator - I have no doubt - we just can't ignore the good that has been done thus far.
Great days to everyone out there!

llalonde- I agree whole heartedly! I stick to eating 4 times a day, many, many nutrionists recommend eating 4 to 5 times a day opposed to three. I've been on an extended break, 7 days starting back on the diet on Monday.
Since last Thursday I've lost 2 more pounds (19 total). I have had pizza twice, and beer. Went to a 50th surprise B-day party for a friend (no cake) and to my dad's b-day (no cake). One party served huge Subway subs the other a ham dinner, for which I made 3 desserts.
Somehow I've found a balance on days where I'm not at a birthday party! I limit my processed carbs, 2 a day. No potatoes, corn, rice, or sugar. Just two slices of skinny bread with peanut butter (organic, no sugar) in the morning and a low carb pita pocket for my sandwich at lunch. No processed carbs for dinner just veggies and protein, protein for my forth 'meal', cashews or peanuts.
Over eating starts at the grocery store! If you don't buy it you can't eat it. Stick to the outside aisles, get in get out! Have a plan and stick to it!
Keep up the great work everyone- There are some very impressive major losses in this group- Outstanding!!!

Hi everyone, thanks for the kind words and welcome. This is my 2nd day on the diet, and yesterday went like a charm, was full all day. Today is my fruit day (not a problem for me, love fruits!) and I've been pretty full so far, with breakfast and lunch. However I'm going to the movies tonight!! So I planned on eating my deli sandwich for diner before the movie, hopefully I'll be full for the entire movie and won't be tempted by my husband's pop corn and soda!
I did bring some cashews to work in case I had a case of the dizzies.
I'm bringing some grapes to the movie and will sneak in a water bottle.

Babette, sounds like you have a great plan for the movie. That's what it's all about, making this plan work for us. I think eating the sandwich is before going is a great idea. Also you might want to try freezing those grapes first, it gives you something a little crunchy that way and to me they seem sweeter too. Enjoy your evening.

Hello Everyone! Hope your day is full of sunshine! We had a "picnic" at work today from our employer - it was pretty nice. Didn't enduldge myself as I'm sticking to the plan until the weekend. It actually wasn't that hard.
Lar
- Your words made so much sense to me. What an awesome way to think about things. Sometimes, as intelligent as we all are, having it put that simple is just what is needed.
We are off camping in the morning so I won't be on until Monday night. My 3yr old has been counting down the days as she loves to have her Papa (my dad) drive her around on his tractor! This time it's going to be warm enough to go swimming in the lake as well. No TV, no cell phone, no washer / dryer...I CAN'T WAIT.
Remember all those who have served and are serving now during this weekend -

Good afternoon everyone! Sort of a gloomy day here...looks like it could rain at anytime...and it's chilly! You know....back a month ago, I bought new summer clothes...and haven't been able to wear them yet!! Hopefully one of these days!!
Well, I totally blew my day yesterday...so I am doing it all over again today!! Oh well, hopefully it will be worth it in the end. No plans as yet for the weekend...so if nothing is shakin' around here I plan to follow this to the letter...if we have company/or the neighbors drop in, maybe not so much!! Have to go to Dr. on Tuesday...would like to be down 25 lbs(from previous plan and FL4I)but if not, at least I know I have lost weight since the last time I was there.
Everybody hang in there...for those of you taking a break, don't forget to come back. I think we all need a change from time to time to strengthen our resolve!!

DeeDee, thanks! I weighed today and have lost another 2 pounds, so that's 42 pounds with one day left on the cycle. I'm very happy!!!
CB, Happy anniversary!
Babbette, enjoy the movie, and good idea on bringing some fruit with you!
Lar, I Totally agree on eating every 3 or 4 hours. My body is used to that now. Before I did this diet, I did the Jorge Cruise 3 hour diet. I just couldn't stick to his guidelines. They were healthy, but the dg tells me definetly what I can have and just works better for me. I think the 3 hour diet is what I am aiming for, for life maintenance, after I lose all the weight.
Losing, good to see you around! Hang in there. This is just a lull. Mine was on cycle five, and ended up being a half cycle, but I kept going onto cycle six and lost 7 pounds since the beginning of that half cycle and this full one. You can do it!
Maimona, welcome aboard!
Suzie, congrats on 19 pounds! Great job!
I want to say a big hello to everyone! hang in there! We can do it!

Hi everyone,
Is anyone here familiar with the old version of this diet? As I said in my earlier posts, I tried this diet before and I am currently using one of many menus that I printed off 3 years ago. In this version we have just 1 day of fruit/veg (3 meals in total). The reason I am asking is that some of my menus have day 4 , others as day 6 and some with day 7 as the fruit/veg days. I was wondering if I am suppose to change the veg/fruit day each 11 day cycle?
I volunteer at my Church cafe every Thursday and obviously eat lunch there. They make lovely vegetable soups that can meet the veg meal option and also the 11th day (also a Thursday) I have some menus that include egg salad or tuna salad as one of the meals. I simply want to be able to eat lunch there, each week, rather then bring my own food for that day.
Any advice would be most welcome .

Good Afternoon Everyone,
It's my last day for this cycle yahoo!! I'll weigh in tomorrow and let you know the final weigh in. I hope it's good. I'm a little hungry, because I didn't feel like eating turkey and bacon. I'll be eating a salad for dinner and a small snack tonight. I took a walk today before it started to rain. It's in the 70's here in AZ which like winter weather for us, so I had to get my sweat shirt out We love this weather.
AMJ - GREAT JOB 2 MORE LBS. That feels so great when the scale finally drops.
CB- HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! My husband and I have been married 10 years. I think we are on the same time line. You have a five year old too right? Mine is starting KDG this year. I can't believe how fast she grew.
Pink- I hope it's a good weigh in.
Well just wanted drop in and say hello to all my diet friends and to have a great weekend. I'll be on cheat days and I will try to good.

Hi to all you slimmer(congrats on all the inches and pounds) friends....Rainbow, Hiker, Anyar, Lar, Losing, Alleyne, DeeDee, AJ, Mavs, Cme, lose 40, Ag, Wannat, Diane, Pink, Carrie, Susie, Maim, Air, Sasha, Krispy, Frees, Bab and anyone i missed??? Some of us are MIA....where is Willbe, Sarah, Quincy,Denice etc???
Lar...yes... the body and mind seem to battle each other for control....our bodies seem to have the "mind" of a 5 year old that wants candy and snacks NOW instead of a balanced meal....and we don't let five year olds get away with it...why should we let our bodies control us?
Susie...love your statement that "overeating begins in the grocery store"...how true!!! Usually in the chip and snack aisle.. If we don't buy it we can't eat it...we always seem to convince ourselves we are buying it for the kids or hubby or cat ..do they really need junk...are we doing them a favor??? hard questions
AJ...enjoy your new energy and smaller body on your vacation! You have worked hard and done sooo well! With all that beautiful hair you'd better bring a hair scrunchie with the wind at the beach...smile!
.
FreeS...yes on the old plan the veggie/fruit day is changed each cycle....it keeps the body guessing.
CB... happiest of Anniversaries to you and DH!
Bab...good plan...i often take water and baby carrots and salted cuke wedges to the movies...crunchy, sweet, salty...but oh how I struggle with that smell of popcorn!!!
I am feeling great! Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts and encouraging words...four weeks is a long time to be down and out with a virus...glad to be back!!

Hi all!
I've been missing hanging out here--just been crazily busy, which is actually not a bad thing from a dieting perspective. The stress angle is a different story, but...this too shall pass, right?!
Sunshine, so glad to see you back--you have been through the ringer...on the positive side, your body now has immunity to this horrible virus!
Amj, you are moving down, down, down on that scale. Thanks for the encouragement
Babette, CarrieB, hope your special events (movies, anniversary dinner went off without a hitch) I agree about that smell of popcorn; it's a hard one to resist...
Free, look forward to hearing your temptation resisting story...
Wanna, glad that cake turned out
Larry, you're right, of course, about harnessing our minds and not making bad dietary choices. And, oh yes, my inner surfer dude much prefers the unselfconcious bathing suit wearing...I actually swam some laps yesterday in the pool we put in last summer with no worries, well, almost no worries, about UPS showing up. That's a big step for me.
Rayna, How's everything going with picking up the diet? have to report that Boston and Michigan are engaged once again in an athletic battle, basketball this time...Hope that Boston wins so my husband is bearable to live with--no offense, Pistons Hiker, are you loving this too? Or are you still celebrating the 2 grand slam game tonight?!!
Pink, hope fruit day number 2 went okay. You're officially a hero in my book for doing it twice!!!
Susie, good thought on the shopping angle; I have been making myself put things back a lot lately, so I'm onboard; it's actually a lot cheaper too.
Hope you're all well (Rainbow, hope your busy days are going okay )!

Hi everyone ,
Thank you Sunshine for clearing the veg/fruit day dilema for me. I assumed that I would have to use menus that didn't have that day always in the same place each 11 day cycle, but I thougfht it was best to seek out advice!
My temptation story isn't all that exciting but for me it was a chance to get the new mindset in gear. I began my first cycle this past Monday and on Tuesday I took some time off from work/studying to be at an assessment for my mum who is moving into sheltered housing. My son was off from school on Monday and Tuesday (yet another bank holiday over here) so came along for the ride. Of course afterwards we had to go out to lunch. As my mum has been cooped up in hospital for some 4 months she suddenly suggested McDonalds-of course my son enthusiastically agreed. Well, when the time came to order food, they got their usual cheesburgers, fries, apple pies and donuts and I ordered (drum roll..........................still drumming.......................ok so now this is annoying, but.............)
a bottle of water (tada-now everyone does a backflip in jubilation of my most awesome effort to stay on track). Afterwards I came home and simply grilled a piece of chicken and drank more water. It wasn't so much hard as it was a time to be aware that good choices pay off and let's face it those fast food burgers are not that good! .
Ok so day 5 and so far so good! I managed to get through the fruit/veg day fine although I was looking for a 4th meal later on and even for a brief instant in time thought "well another veg meal can't hurt?* . But I looked temptation in the eye, said no and did that *talk to the hand sign* and got some work done and went to bed (go me).
I'll be in touch again and let you know how things are progressing. Till then be safe and stay focused.

Good morning all my co-idiots! Actually in my head, we are not idiots at all! We are the smart ones...we went searching for a unique way to lose weight and found it! What other plan can you 'have your and eat it too!! Or anything else that you have a craving for?
I made it through day number 2! So it's onward today. And todays menu doesn't look too bad! And today I am going to go look at a new !! A black and white Shih Tzu!! Not ready to be adopted out..that won't be for another month...I'm like a kid in a candy store when it comes to baby animals, so more than likely will reserve one!!
Everyone have a safe and enjoyable weekend. Remember our troops past and present. Whatever your food choices are for the weekend, stay strong!!

Freespirit - WOW!!!!! That is AMAZING self control!! Congratulations!
Thanks to all who wished me and DH a happy anniversary. Yes, it was 9 years of mostly wedded bliss. *yuck yuck*
C-ME - I think we are about on the same track. My eldest is five (going on 19) and will be kindergarten this fall. My youngest is 2 1/2, will be 3 in September. I can't BELIEVE she's going to be in kindergarten!!
Oh, and a sweatshirt in 70 degrees? Give me a break!! *hee*
The movie was good, and as I'm the only person on the planet who doesn't care that much for popcorn, no temptations were had. Hubby and I shared a Diet Coke. We had dinner at TGI Fridays beforehand and I splurged with Sesame Jack strips and the Lobster Tortellini...I'm paying for it today. My stomach is so upset! Guess shoving heavy food in it wasn't such a good idea...
Happy long weekend to everyone!

Good morning!
Well I didn't cheat on the popcorn or soda, brought the grapes with me and snacked on that. I'd eaten what seemed like a truckload of fruits all day, plus my sandwich at around 4 PM. However after the movie I had a headache and was very hungry and dizzy. I can't let myself go hungry, diet or no diet, this is just a no-no for me, so I ate an apple and some nuts around 9 PM, and immediately felt better. Still at the same weight this morning, but I'm not letting it get to me. It's only day 3 after all!
PS: the movie was "The Rocker", it was the premiere, as I think it's coming out in August. It's with that guy who plays Dwight in the US version of The Office, and a bunch of other comedy actors I like. Quite funny, although at times I felt it was like a Disney version of Spinal Tap.

Good Morning Friends,
Okay I've finished Cycle 3. ya hoo!!! Drum role please... I've lost 5 lbs on this cycle and 4 inches off my thighs and 1.5 inches off my belly. cycle 2 was a semi-cycle and just maintained on that cycle.
Since I started this diet 4-21
I've lost 13 lbs, belly 3 inches, thighs 6 inches, from a size 14 fitting to a snug size 10. I hope this doesn't sound like I'm boasting, I just want folks to know that this is working.
CB- I know we are total whimps when it comes to weather here in AZ. It's in the 60's so I'll be wearing my jeans and maybe a light sweater. hee hee We all get excited here to wear a sweater once in awhile. My oldest is 8 and my youngest is 5. My little girl is something else, she Thinks she rules the house and bosses her big brother around. As far as weight wise, I think we are in the same boat.
Free- Good job at McDonalds. I've had to do that too, it's hard but don't you feel so much stronger afterwards.
Bab- Going to the movies is hard and having to smell that popcorn is difficult. I LOVE POPCORN, but only have it on cheat days. YOU DID AWESOME
Pink-OKAY Idiots stands for:
I- intelligent
D- Divas
I- in
O- overcoming
T- tight clothes and
S- Scales
Hello to Everyone else. I've couldn't of gotten this far without you

Hi everybody,
well you all seem doing very well so congratulations!!!! This earth is spinning faster without our weight piled on it lol.
I am just finishing cycle 2 and tomorrow starts 3 free days. I am going to try and be as good as I can although Sunday we are going out for a meal. I have my newly found niece coming to stop at mine for 2 days. I am adopted and found my birth family 14 yrs ago, my niece and her Dad ...my brother are the only missing pieces from my jigsaw of life, although he is out of the country at the moment but should get to meet him later this year. I am so excited as this is the first time I will have met her and she is 21.
So if I go quiet for a couple of days you will know why. I hope I can report back with some positive results.
Take care everybody xxxx

Hey, everyone! I'm not lost. I'm still here every single day monitoring the threads. I just don't post as often.
As many of you know, I started the diet again last Tuesday but with a few modifications. I'm at a point where I can no longer handle the odd combo meals, so I try to spice them up a little while remaining on the diet. I anticipated that my weight loss will be much slower, but my lifestyle just can't handle strictly adhering to the diet. But, like I said, I'm still following the diet, just with a few modifications.
I want to first say congratulations to everyone that has lost weight on this diet. I agree with DianeB that the world may now roate a lot faster! LOL
CarrieBeth: First of all "Happy Anniversary". Also, thanks for the "smoothie" advice. It worked out very well. I truly understand when a break is needed. I'm also heading towards that, as well. I'm finding it difficult to solely adhere to the diet because life is taking me in so many diferent directions. That's why I decided on doing a modified version. It's still much better than the way I was eating, but just not adhering solely to the DG. I do hope you remain on the board as so many enjoy your advice and encouragement. Meanwhile, be sure not to over do it while off the diet. You've done very well so far. Consider doing what I'm doing -- a modified version!
C-Me-Shrink: Yep! Had a date. Seems wierd dataing at 50 y/o and after 3-1/2 years. But, he was rather nice, not to mention very good looking, and an entrepreneur. We'll see how things go. Also, I absolutely love your IDIOT acronym!! LOL
Amjacie: That smoothie sounds wonderful. I will definitely have to try it on my next fruit day. Amjacie, your weight loss has been wonderful. Make sure you enjoy yourself but don't over do it during that beach trip!!
MavsFan41: Wow! That is wonderful for both you and your daughter. Great weight loss!! Keep up the good work.
DeeDee: Thanks! That was wonderful advice you gave to members on the board about taking a break. I'm a little quiet on the board only because I'm away from home so much. But, although I don't say much, I'm still dieting and quite active in monitoring the discussion threads.
DianeB: Great inch loss! You're a true testiment to how some may not lose as much weight but drop more inches.
Losingwt: I agree about the nuts. I think I also over did it. Nuts are like popcorn. Once you start, you can't stop. That's why I stopped adding them to my diet because I don't know how to stop. I also have great faith in this diet. I hope you will continue and stick with us.
Larry: That was absolutely wonderful advice to eat AT LEAST 3 meals per day.
Hiker: It sounds like you and I are of the same mindset at this time. I'm still gonna stick with the diet only with a few modifications. I simply need some variation right now because I'm so busy. Once things slow down, I'll be back on track.
Susie-Q: Absolutely wonderful -- 19 pounds total! It sounds like you are also establishing some great eating habits.
Babette: Good for you! I do the same thing at the movies. I usually bring my own snacks and a bottle of water.
Pink: Glad to see you on the board. Don't worry too much about blowing fruit day and starting over. I'm sure everyone on this diet has done the same thing at one point or another.
FreeSpirit: Not sure if anyone answered your question about the old diet version. Unfortunately, I don't believe there are many currently on the board that are/have used the old version. If you're interested in knowing what the new version is like or want to see one of the diet menus, send me a PM.
Sunshine: So glad to see you back. I know that virus/flu thing really got you down. It has gotten me 3x since last September, so I know what you were going through. I think a lot of people are "MIA" because the weather is finally breaking. Michigan has had some horrible weather, but I can finally go outside in sandals and go walking without wearing a heavy jacket!! YAHOOOOO!!!

| Hello I am new to this site as well as this Fat Loss 4 Idiots program. My first question is, does it really work? And second, after signing up for the program I read about the three days of cheating? I mean if you can cheat and lose a certain amount of pounds, if you dont cheat couldnt you loose even more???? Then I would not want to cheat, or do you have to cheat? And when you cheat on those 3 days, can you eat anything at all, chips, pizza, soda, snacks, etc??

Sarathi... cheat days are important because they keep your body guessing. I tried not doing them and found that my weight loss levelled off. You can reduce them from 3 to 2, but no more than that. On cheat days, try to maintain the four meals a day, spaced by 2-3 hours apart. Even if you're eating hamburgers, just eat the burger (with bun, etc.) and try to avoid the fries. If you can't avoid the fries, at least remember to eat until you are satisfied, not stuffed. The whole premise is to keep your caloric intake per meal to a reasonable level.
Just be smart. Don't over eat, and don't eat too much #%@&!.

Hiker... I hear you. But it's just food! Maybe there's something else going on for which food is an answer - not a good answer, but an answer. Food is never the answer. Never. Food is food. Answers lie elsewhere. Food as an answer is too easy. You need to dig deep and ask why are you really struggling? It's not the food. It's NOT.
Hugs (because I think you need some),

Happy Saturday everyone!! Everybody must be enjoying their weekend as they should! So far no plans here, so it will probably just be a relaxing or maybe not so much weekend at home!
Looks as if a new will soon be a reality here!! Gotta tell you, she's adorable! Not ready to leave mom just yet and last of 3 summer trips for us will be over the weekend of June 22, so will pick her up anytime after that!! The waiting is gonna be hard...let me tell you!!
Saraitha, in answer to your question..yes this plan does work. If you read through some of the posts you will see that others have lost weight. Some might lose more than 9 lbs. their first cycle, some lose less. It isn't 9 lbs. each cycle, so if you were counting on that, you would be very disappointed. I switched from another plan to this one in mid April and have had lots of interruptions along the way, but have lost 8 lbs. and last I checked I had lost 9 inches. So sometimes the scale doesn't always say as much as the tape measure does!! And our cheat days(we call them 'choice days')are not free-for-alls. Most of us have found we are very cautious with these days...cuz we don't wanna gain back what we have lost. Yet we still give ourselves a little leeway!!
Gotta run...Hi to everyone in FL4I land!! Have a great weekend!! Glad to see you again and glad you are feeling better!!!

Air...larry had some really good advice in his post above. Do think about what you really really miss or want and have some of those things in MODERATE portions....drinking all your water and eating what you want in several smaller meals is a good plan. The "rules diet" in the handbook states that you could eat a restaurant meal and bring the dessert home and have that as another minimeal...sooo I think they are encouraging not stuffing yourself...just eat til satisfied...have a plan on your drinks(once you have one it is easy for some people to go on to several more...if that is you...have one or two...nurse them and have seltzer and lime the rest of the time or diet lemonlime soda with lime) Alcohol calories are converted to sugar...sooo that can be bad in large quantities.
I usually have a few things or meals that I am missing/craving and I have one a day along with some smaller items. For instance...I love Indian food...so i will have a good protein breakfast of eggs to cut the cravings..I'll have some water before the restaurant meal to make sure I don't overeat and to flush out all the salt in restaurant foods...I"ll have a medium portion of all i desire.... then I make sure I have smaller sensible meals or snacks the rest of the day and more water. The next day it may be that burger and fries...but I don't go whole hog on every meal each day...I "choose" my treats.
Most of us find we do gain on the scale over choice days( in the beginnig some gain 5 or more pounds)...it is mostly water weight....as long as you didn't binge in a huge way.. and comes off by the 5th day of the new cycle. Now that I am closer to goal...I gain less water weight on choice days probably because I have less bodyfat to retain water and I have found a choice way of eating that works for me. Remember it takes 3,500 extra calories to actually gain a pound of fat...so don't binge but don't worry if the scale shows a gain after choice days...just get back to the plan. Choice days are important for several reasons....challenging the metabolism, giving the body carbs, avoiding boredom or cheating for the next cycle and getting nutrients that may be missing from the menu you chose last cycle.
So enjoy your choice days...let it be a time to learn to eat off the plan but in control. Many of us found we actually look forward to getting back to the plan after choice days...so do take your choice days...I take mine on Fri Sat, Sun and start again on Monday so that my 11 day cycle always give me every other weekend off.
I hope this helps some of you new fellow fl4i's.
Great weekend all!!

| Thanks a lot, I thought it meant, cheat days, were when you could eat junk food, know I just know its sensible food you miss. Also I know they reccomend walking but if you wanted to could you do some activity you love, such as play tennis, and would you still lose the same calories you usually burn off, so that you could burn in to addition the weight your losing from the diet??? Thanks a lot guy. I start today.

Sara...all excercise is wonderful....don't give it up....but only moderate slow excercise actually burns bodyfat. Strength training and other active excercise may build muscle which will over the long haul burn more bodyfat....because the more muscle you have the more calories burned per day....but do remember that if you add strength training that muscle weights more than fat. Do measure and try on something tight before you begin and then remeasure and continue to try on the previously tight pants each cycle. This diet is a fatloss diet so the scale is not the only measure...you will shrink faster than the scale shows.
I hope this helps

| Thank you fo that information. I also had another question though, even thought the diet says you dont have to worry about calorie, Ive never been used to eating without counting. Even though the people in this diet dont count, I believe subconsciously they may be eating a deficit of a caloric intake. So I want to make sure I eat like that too, but just trying to eat without being full but satisified is very hard for me, cause I just dont know, just dont know how to eat like that. Any suggestions and anything that has worked for people to meet this not full but satisfied rule??

Sara...that comes with time. It seems at first you eat alot...must be a mind thing cuz when you only eat turkey and peanuts(for example)your mind tells you to eat alot, cuz that's all your getting. But as time goes by, it seems that it doesn't take much to give you that feeling of satisfaction..I think the tummy shrinks!! There has been times that I only eat an apple..and that seems to satisfy me until my next meal....so give it time...it will happen.

For all you Starbucks fans out there..............I have a quick question. If I have low-fat milk listed on my list of what I can have for a meal, can I have a sugar-free vanilla, non-fat latte? I don't know if I can do this diet if I can't get a latte once in a while!!

I'm a Starbuck's junkie. My favorite is the Skinny Caramel Latte with fat-free milk and sugar-free caramel syrup, and only 90 calories for a Grande.
Anything you wanna know about Starbuck's, I'm your gal!!
All I need is an intravenous line running from the Starbuck's down the street, into my condo, and directly into my arm -- I'd be a happy woman!!
I SAY ... GO 4 IT!!

| Well I get that it comes with time, but I dont overeat, thats not my problem. I eat very little even now, and I feel satisified I believe, I mean, Ive never heard my tummy growl. But I want to make sure I am not eating too less. And another thing, this diet, even though it tells you not to watch the amount of calories you eat, it does rely on a caloric deficit right, but different from normal diets, in that the caloric deficit is something the body wont get used to, because you switch up the type of calories you eat. So having a caloric deficit is something you should aim for right?
