I'll just get right to it; I need to throw myself a pity party:
Weighed in and GAINED 2 pounds!!! I'm really disappointed about it and in myself as well, because I cheated over last weekend, although I hadn't really thought it amounted to much...also maybe nuts had something to do with it. I think I need to do a cycle without them.
Well, choice days are here, and I'm going to have to really concert myself to not drown my sorrows with food...like my breakfast did (healthy amount of carbs ).
Off for a walk and, I hope, an attitude adjustment...
Losing, please don't beat yourself up! You have done so great and I am sure you are just experiencing water weight fluctuation right now. Drink a lot of water today and see if that helps your body release the extra fluids it is holding on to.
Agl, it is just too hard to follow a regime when out of town, and this is a very special occasion. If it were me, I would start my choice days now, and begin a new cycle on Monday. Have fun at the graduation and bring lots of hankies!
Hiker, I'll keep an eye out for the amborosia. The name just sounds good! I just got some Royal Gala yesterday and haven't tried them.
Amj - the Gala apples are the absolute best!! They are juicy, delicious and crisp!!! They taste like an apple should and not all pasty and dry. I really think you will enjoy them.
It sounds like most of you had a really good week. Mine was fair but no loss for this cycle as yet but I still have until Thursday to go.
Several gals are going away for one reason or another, so to those folks have a wonderful time. Enjoy the time away and just take it slow - try to remember the over all rules and you should be ok. The temptations will help to make you a little stronger in setting your higher goals - I know, easier said than done, but I know you'll give it a good try. Besides, when you are back home you can concentrate then, so for now ENJOY!!!
Have a great weekend one and all.

Susie Q: Your weight loss is absolutely wonderful, and all within 3 cycles. Tell hubby that when you lose rest of the weight you need a new Jacquar to go riding in!! And, as far as the 18 year old -- Yep! They make their own meals, and they also get jobs!! LOL
C-ME-SHRINK: Believe it or not, Cashews and Milk is actually my favorite, plus it's filling.
Losingwt: How can you turn down the frozen yogurt? That's the best part of the diet but I truly understand your point. What I do is typically buy a small cup at Macy's. If there is a Macy's in your area, you must try it -- absolutely delicious! Also, don't get too stressed over that 2lb weight gain. It will come off. What I would give to be 8 lbs from my weight goal!
AGL3591: I always drink skim milk on the diet. I don't think it really matters. And, by the way, CarrieBeth was correct about posting URL's. So I removed the "http://" from your web address to farmlanddairy.
CarrieBeth: That's a great idea. That's actually the same idea that I suggested previously. I don't understand why people with families have such a difficult time sticking to the diet. I have a 10 y/o. What I eat is pretty much what gets incorporated to her meals as well, and she never has any complaints.
Rainbow: I'm so happy for you. It always feels wonderful when your clothes begin to losen up and you can pull those old clothes out of a box, try them on and they fit. There is nothing more encouraging when that happens! Good for you!! But, like I told Losingwt. Don't give up on the frozen yogurt. That's a wonderful treat throughout the cycle. Just buy a pint size, or go to Macy's (if it's in your area) and buy it by the cup. Also, places like Baskin & Robbins and some Dairy Queens sell frozen yogurt. Try buying only what you plan to eat rather than keeping it in the freezer. It's too tempting when you do that.
WannaTravel: Don't be afraid of the cheat days. They are in place for a reason. Just remember to eat sensibly. I feel strongly that even on cheat days we should stay away from certain foods such as those which are deep fried or too starchy. There are very good meals that can be eaten during choice days that don't fit either category. Look at cheat days as your maintenance meals -- i.e., would you eat those things if you were on a maintenance diet? Secondly, be sure not to skip your choice meals. I made this mistake almost every cycle because my weight loss was not as progressive as others who took their choice days. I believe choice days (when eating sensibly) help to facilitate the weight loss process.
Krispy: Welcome to the board. We hope to see you back when your trip is over. I think you'll find much encouragement here.
Amjacie: I love those Banana Shakes. Although I haven't been on the FL4I diet in a while, I still make those banana shakes -- Yummy! I will be back on the diet come Monday.
Airlog: Just remember to measure yourself - arms, busts, waists, hips and thighs because there will be some periods you will see little weight loss, but loss of inches.
Hiker: Love those Krispy Creams. I wish they would just move out of Michigan completely. Actually, I should probably just buy stock in Krispy Creams because there was a time when I truly kept them in business all by myself!! LOL

Hi Everyone,
Today is a real busy day. We are going to my Father in laws and helping move from a 3rd story apt. to a 2nd story apt in another building. I sent my Husband and son early and us girls will go later to help. It will be a good work out. He is taking the family to lunch, but I'm going to be good and take my chicken and shake. I'm so determined to take off the extra pounds. I've only lost 2 lbs in between my last weigh in, which was at the end of cycle 1. I only had a half cycle for 2 and started cycle 3 on monday. I am hoping for more pounds at the end of this cycle, but this is where I always hit the plateau, I'm just hoping I can break this plateau this time.
Rayna- How are you doing? Have you hopped back on the wagon? I hope so. I know you can do this. I think we need to be more determined then our bodies.
DianeB- I too have been good this cycle and I'm hoping to see more progress. But if I don't see more pounds off, I'll need you all to lift me up again and keep going.
Amj- Yes it felt great to be back in that skirt. That's the only thing that kept me from taking some of that Pizza and stuffing my face. I'm so glad I didn't. I'm proud of you too for staying strong. I know we can do this. I too am going to a beach soon and I want to look my best.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'll probably check in tomorrow.

Hi all....I'm almost there ....feeling more energetic...don't recommend this virus to anyone!!
Even though I have eaten very little over the weeks(4) with this virus...I lost only 1 1/2 pounds...that tells us that fasting shuts down the metabolism!! But I have followed our way of eating as best I could and I am down to a size six....can't believe this diet.... there seems to be sooo much more fat lose than the scales let on!! So once again check out your size and don't be totally slave to the ups and downs of the scale....the scales do bounce around for a variety of reasons....the scale is helpful only as long as it keeps us heading in the right direction.
I will try to catch up on posts at some point....haven't even caught up with emails yet!
I have a lot of catching up on work and household chores so I may not be as active here....hope you are all doing well. Thanks for all the prayers and kind thoughts!

Hi, Sunshine! Glad you checked in and so sorry that virus hit you so hard! And a size 6? omg! that is just awesome!
Dee Dee, I haven't gotten to try the apples yet. My last two days have been protein, protein, protein. And I find it causes me very bad heartburn. The exact thing happened to me the last two cycles and it lasts for several days. I find that alka seltzer has become a very good friend. Anyway, I get to try them tomorrow with my fruit salad...yay!
Over the last two days the only time it hasn't been all protein has been a serving of prunes yesterday and one meal today is mixed veggies and salad, other than those two meals, my meals have been exactly the same the last two days: meal 1- ham and cottage cheese meal 2- tuna plate and roast beef, meal 3- chicken and cheese and heartburn heartburn! yikes!
This is day 5 of cycle six and I weighed today. I haven't weighed since the end of cycle four, and cycle five was a half cycle, so basically I have done one complete cycle since last weigh in and the results are 5 more pounds lost for a total of 40 pounds! I am hoping for a few more pounds loss in the next 7 days before I hit the beach, but I have to admit, I had a big smile on my face when I weighed. I think 5 pounds is still great for basically 12 days of dieting and six days of choices, which is what I just did since cycle four.
Rayna, can't wait for you to join us on the diet again on Monday! I get a lot from your posts in the way of encouragement and amusement!
Diane, good to see you check in. Those pounds will come off! keep it up!
C-Me, you have my sympathy. I hate moving! And good for you on taking your meals with you!
You know, I mentioned that I have the mixed veggies and salad today...I just made a veggie soup that is really good! This is the first time I ever used v8 as the soup and threw in several frozen veggies I had in the freezer: broccoli, cawliflower, carrots, small peas, green beans, red and yellow peppers, and snap peas. Pretty tasty!
Everyone have a grand Saturday!

| Shasha - I've said this before, I feel MUCH happier and energetic when I'm on the diet. I suffer from anxiety and depression and I've noticed that I feel worse after my cheat days. Not so much on my cheat days, but by the end and when I start a new cycle...I feel so blah and tired! All that junk we make our bodies process really DOES slow us down! Good luck to you and everyone else. Hope you're all enjoying your weekends. I have done VERY well today I'm proud to say. Cleaned a lot, took a nap, and stuck to the diet almost exclusively. Lately, that's an accomplishment for me!

Hi to eveyone here,
I am starting this diet tomorrow (Monday) as I want my cheat days to fall on the weekends. I did use this programme sometime back and have 25 menus of what is now known as the old version. I rejoined to see what the difference was in food choices and I must say that I prefer the original old version. We could only access the site for 3 months at that time, but now of course you can go on anytime you want.
I lost 35 lbs (half of what I wanted to lose), but gained it back because I was a ding-bat and resorted to bad eating habits again . But I do know it works and found it quite easy to follow when I did use it. So here I am staring again!
I just wanted to swing by and say "Hi" and wish everyone luck .

Hi Free, welcome back, I will be starting up again tomorrow too but I will be doing the BC version. I do plan to modify the BC plan by still doing one all fruit and one all veggie day so I can commiserate with you on those days. Actually I like veggie day, fruit day, not so much. I'm not sure if you were on this site before when you did it but if not I think you will like it a lot. It's quite on the weekends but during the week it's very active. I think most of us can sympathize with you losing so much and gaining it back, that is really the struggle we all face...maintaining the loss. Basically we all know we need to change our relationship with food but that is easier said than done. But we move on and eventually we are all going to get there!

Sunshine: I've missed you so much! Glad to hear from you.
Amjacie: Wow! 40 lbs. I must say, you are definitely motivating me again. Yep! I'm back come tomorrow. Can't zip my dog-gone jeans up anymore. Can't have that!! LOL I'm really looking forward to it and especially looking forward to walking again because I haven't exercised in so long.
FreeSpirit: Welcome back! Seems like you and I will be starting together tomorrow. We'll keep each other motivated. That means, we'll have next Fri, Sat & Sun as cheat days during the holiday weekend.
Hiker: Hey! Sounds like you'll be joining FreeSpirit and myself tomorrow also. I'm actually looking forward to getting back on the diet.
CarrieBeth: I agree! I also feel much happier and energetic that's why I'm actually looking forward to starting back up tomorrow. Worst of all, I haven't had water in such a long time. I may drink a cup/day only when I get thirsty (I absolutely hate water) but I did feel much better when I was drinking it.
C-ME-SHRINK: I feel you on the plateau thing. I'm hoping that since I've been off the diet a while, that my metabolism will really kick in when I get back on the diet tomorrow.
DianeB: Remember not to weigh yourself all the time. Be sure to read the thread that I created call "FL4I - WEIGHING YOURSELF". Do so frequently can cause motivational issues. Just weigh/measure yourself at the end or beginning of each cycle. Hope this helps.

My Thoughts for the day...
As I'm sitting here drinking my second Banana Milk Shake today, while preparing to start the FL4I diet tomorrow, I thought to myself ...
When you look at the food combos and food choices on the FL4I diet, I've decided that this diet must have been created by some mysterious man out in cyberspace. (Sorry, Larry).
Is this really something that would typically be chosen by women? Okay, with the exception of a Banana Milkshake and Fruit Salad.
So, I thought to myself, instead of ...
Scrambled eggs -- why not eggs florintine?
Lunch meat -- why not real meat?
Sausage Links - why not Canadian ham?
Flounder -- why not Mahi Mahi with a butter sauce and slivered almonds?
Bacon strips -- why not french toast?
Cashews -- why not chocolate covered cashews?
Cottage Cheese -- why not cheesecake?
And lastly, if you're gonna make me eat baked beans with all that sugar, why can't I just a box of chocolates? And on Fruit Day, why can't I eat a banana?
Can you tell I'm bored right now with nothing better to do?
Thank you for allowing me to whine a while!! LOL

Good morning everyone. Well today I am starting back on BC with my slight adjustment of joining those on DG on fruit and veggie day. I know, I am not suppose to mess with the diet but I am not afraid of the FL4I police, I have a very good lawyer . Really, I hope it isn't too bad to do that but I am going to do a cycle and see, it might be too many carbs but I'll see what happens. It can't be any worse than what I did last week when I followed the " eat everything in sight diet", I have to say that one did not work out too well
Anyar and Larry, I love you idea of tequila in the banana milkshake...now I wish I was following DG (LOL).
Well it's a beautiful day here so I am going to keep positive and try and get some exercise. My boss is already bugging me (at 7 am) so I might have to take an extra walk or two so he can't reach me...I'll just "forget" to take my cell phone
Have a good day and stay strong.

O.K., new cycle of DG today, new vigor, new attitude, and, yes, a beautiful day!
And tequila in the banana milkshakes! Wow, that'll make a big difference
I hope everyone's doing well!
P.S. Hiker, how was the walk? (the breast cancer walk)

Losing, thanks for asking. The walk went great, the weather really cooperated this year. We raised over $150,000 for breast cancer treatment and research. Most of it for the Healing Garden which is a non profit organization in a beautiful setting, that offers non medical treatment (yoga, group counselling, massage, relaxation therapy, sometime just holding someone, etc) in conjunction with traditional medicine. We also donate to Mass General cancer research dept but you can probably tell where my heart (and most of my donations) lie.
My group is small, 40 women but we keep it that way, that allows us to donate 100% of what we collect to the cause, we pay our own expenses and we have a great group of people who support us with water stops and use of facilities along the way so we can continue to donate 100% which makes us quite unique. As you all know I did not actually walk this year but I sure hope I can be out there next year. Sorry to go on so on a non diet subject but I thought you might like the update.

Just wanted to say good for you Hiker and your group for what you all are doing for breast cancer!
And good luck to Rayna, Losing, Hiker on starting new cycles and to free spirit on starting first cycle today! Remember to drink that water!
And, Hiker, I'll be interested in hearing how you do with the different diet!
This is day 7 for me and this cycle has been a good one for me! Hoping for a great weigh in in a few days!
Have a great day!
Oh, and Rayna: got a good laugh out of your post! Indeed! Why can't we have a box of chocolate instead of those baked beans!

Howdy everyone!
Gosh darn it why didn't I think of the tequila for my nana milkshake-going to work would have been more interesting !
First day on the old version and I must say I am feeling optomistic . Mind you, it's only been a few hours, but so far, so good!
I need to eat my second meal and it says *delicious egg omelette*(thinking eggs florentine would be a bit more exciting). I went through all my old menus this weekend and my choice was menu 6, to start with. Based on the old version, there is one day when I do fruit and veggies, not two separate days, so that seemed easier.
I have also decided that I will weigh myself after each cycle (1st day of each cheat weekend), because I don't want to become obsessed with how much I lose, or not lose. So about every 2 weeks I will check and see my weight and either do a few backflips or fling the machine out of the window .
I'll check in again soon and till then everyone stay focused and remember that we are what we eat! (not sure that is always a good thing, teehee).

Good Morning Everyone,
Well this Day 8, Cycle 3 on DG and I have to say it's been a real good cycle. I'm feeling so positive. I was real good this weekend and did not cheat at all. I'm feeling like a hero out there when I eat some salad instead of that pizza and when I choose the chiken fingers at Jack in the box instead of a burger. I'm getting stronger everytime. I really feel it is a life styel change. I know that it's because of this forum I've been able to do so well. Thank You!! to all my friends!! My old clothes are fitting. I can't believe it. I thought why am hanging on to these capris. They are cute, but my behind is too big. My behind shrunk enough for me to get it into those cute capris. Yes, they are snug, but they fit.
Rayna- I'm glad you are back today. Stay Strong the pay off is great. Oh great thoughts for the day!! hahaha. I have similar thoughts on a regular basis.
Hiker- Great job on doing a good thing!!!
Amj- I'm so glad you are having a good cycle. Soon you'll be at your goal.
Free- Welcome back. You know if you did it once you can do it again and some. We are all here to see you reach your goal.
SS- Glad to hear from you. Feel better soon!!

Good morning everyone!
I just wanted to check in. I am on my 7th day of my first cycle of this diet and i had to weigh, i couldn't take it any longer i needed to know if i was actually losing weight or not and........... Wow was i surprised. I am down 7lbs I didn't think i would see that much this soon since they say you CAN lose 9lbs in 11 days. WOW is all i can say!
It will definitely keep me on track for sure, I am so excited. About three years ago I went on a diet and lost 70lbs I felt great and looked pretty good. but about 15 months ago i decided to change jobs from a job i had for 10 years to a major hospital and things were way different there. Soon i began to see a little weight gain here and there im guessing from stress. Somehow i seem to let about 20 lbs creep on me before i said i need to do something about this. I am so happy for finding this diet i hope i can get that 20lbs plus another 20 off.
How much has everyone lost so far on this diet? Am i hoping for too much or have you seen people who has lost alot?
Thanks for listening everyone

Airolg, most of us have seen big weight loss in the first month or so. Then as we get closer to our goal weight, this tapers off a bit. In some cases, we've plateaued for a while but stayed with the plan and the weight starts coming off again. So, stay with the plan! And good luck!
Remember, we're all different. Some cycles you may lose big, other cycles not so much, but you got so excited by the last cycle that you can be disappointed if the weight loss doesn't continue at the same rate for the following cycle. The key is not to give up. You'll reach your goal.
Many of us put back a pound or two or three on cheat days. This is normal and exactly what the plan intends. We need to keep our bodies guessing and our motabolism charging ahead. Cheat days help us do that. Oh, and congrats on the 7lbs!
Anybody else out there with some thoughts?

Well, I'm down about 12 pounds and I'm fitting back into my size 10's. That's good news. I celebrated by totally cheating!! *hee* Oh well. I'm not worried about it. Tomorrow is another day and I'm pretty sure I've gotten it out of my system. I was good all weekend, so that's a plus. And I'm paying for my pigging out today because My. Stomach. Is. Killing. Me.
Now to get to my size 8's... I *will* get there.
Hello to everyone else...welcome newbies. Sorry, I'm just not feeling well right now. Post more later!

Hi everyone! I’m new to these forums, however I’ve been lurking for a while now. I read some of the first posts (from 2005!) and skipped to this page and one question came to my mind: do we know if some of the early posters have been able to maintain their weight over the years? I purchased 4LFI and am starting tomorrow. My main concern is weight maintenance, since fast weight loss usually means fast weight gain! What has been your experience with this diet?
I’m 5”6 and 160, I’ve been plateauing for the last 2 years between 155 and 160 and it’s driving me nuts. My main goal is 140, but anything under 150 would make me happy!
Thanks!

Babette - Welcome to the forum and good luck! To answer your question about some of the oldies, I'm not sure that I remember anyone saying they were from that far back, but what I'm guessing is that if anyone goes back to their old ways of eating, then they are going to gain it back, slow or otherwise. We are hoping with this plan that it will be a live style change and hoping that we learn from all of this. No diet is easy, but I will say that this is one of the best for seeing results. One thing I would suggest is for you to take measurements because you will for sure lose inches and that is even more rewarding than weight loss! I believe most of the people on the forum would agree. If you have questions do not hesitate to ask them here because everyone is so willing to help you. I'm guessing you may have read some of what I've said already, but I simply wanted to confirm that you are in the right place for success!!! Good Luck!
DeeDee
PS - Hello to everyone and hope those folks on veggie day are doing well. I always struggle with this day, but so far so good.

Hi Babette,
I had the same problem and could not drop below the 155 mark. I am now at 148. Cycle 1 was a full cycle, Cycle 2 a semi cycle and now I'm on day 8 of cycle 3 all DG. I lost a total of 12 lbs because I was up to 160. I hope to continue to lose more and get in my size 8 pants. This is a great forum and I'll think you'll like the results of this diet. I think if you make this a life style, you will be able to keep it off.

Hi everyone,
sounds like there's a lot of positive thinking going on--great to hear!
And some great results: CarrieB, size 8 is around the corner...12 pounds is amazing! C-Me, more shrinking awaits; enjoy the cute capris!
Hiker, congratulations on what you and your group did this weekend! Bravo! And I hope your new combo plan works for you--sounds like a good compromise! Was today day 1? If so, you'll be with me tomorrow on sandwich, I mean, fruit, day! And, btw, I'll probably (but knock on wood that I don't) jinx this, but Lester's pitching his way through a no-hitter...fingers crossed...
Welcome, Babette! Good luck on your start tomorrow! I agree with Dee Dee's thoughts about maintenance...I've come to the realization that this (healthy eating) has to be a way of life; there are no miracle cures...however, that is not a bleak statement. I feel so much better when I'm eating like this. Believe me, after my weekend of choices, some good, some kind of bad, some downright ugly , I know!
Amjacie, glad this cycle's going so well!
Sunshine, still mending well, I hope
Rayna, did you start new today??? If so, I'll be with you on fruit day tomorrow. Great recommendations about the frozen yogurt--buying it in single portions...I have to go a cycle without it as my penance for overindulgence...next time, though
hi to Rainbow, Larry, free, lose41, diane, agl, alleyne, and all of you . Keep marching forward!

John Lester, left hander for the Boston Red Sox pitched a no hitter last night! Sorry, just thought everyone would want to know that .
Babette, welcome to the site, I think we all did some "lurking" before jumping on, I know I sure did! I think you will find this site very helpful.
CarrieB, you have done great and that size 8 is in sight.
Today is fruit day which for me is always a tough one but I know I'm not alone, I know Losing and Anyar is with me and I am sure there are more I have forgotten. We can do it, onward to sandwhich time!
Sunshine , hope you are continuing on the mend, we miss you but we also understand, you must take care of your health.
Lar, Rainbow, Airolg, Amjacie,AGl, Krispy and all I have missed, have a great day.

Good Morning everyone!! Welcome to all the newbies!! I survived my days away...not saying I didn't gain...but I also know that I am retaining alot of water!! So today starts a new cycle for me and lots of !!
I haven't had time to read all the posts from when I left, but have read some! Kudos to all of those who have seen a loss! That is such a great feeling !! And for those that are struggling...hang in there!! I have such a messed up metabolism and thought nothing was ever going to budge that scale, but this plan has!!
Gotta share this tidbit...I don't know if anyone remembers when I first joined FL4I, and I said that I was unable to walk for long distances because of pain in my hip . Part of the reason why we were gone these past 5 days was because my MIL had an auction as she is moving. To make a long story short...there was a CardioFit Plus(exercise machine)on the sale that my DH got for $2. 50 and I can use it and it doesn't bother my hip at all...so it's onward and upward(I mean..downward..LOL)for me from this point!! I said that might of been the best $2.50 he ever spent!!
Will close for now and catch up on reading and getting life back in order from being gone and will check in later!! Have a good day everyone!!

Pink - Welcome home - That's a fantastic steal on the ex machine!!! Good for you to be able to do your walking without pain - it must have been waiting there just for you so have fun with it!
I wished I could say veggie went as planned, but not. I do great all day and then come evening I simply can not take another round of veggies. It should be like fruit day with a reward at the end with a "sammy"! LOL Also, is it the closer we get to goal the more lax we become with staying on track? I'm finding that to be so with me and I'm not happy with that. It's like all my will power was used up during those first few months and now with only 5lbs to go the devil has taken over. Yes, I'm on the pitty-pot at the moment, so forgive me. I'll just keep on trying - I WILL get there!

Good morning all:
It is good to be back. This cycle is going okay so far, did a weight check on monday, down 5lbs. yeppie. Happy for that. did cheat a bit, still have 4 more days to go.
Hope everything is going good for everybody else.
DeeDee: I can sympathize with you, I am on veggie day today, and it is just a.m. and I am finding it hard, also I am finding hard to stick to plan also, and I am far from my weight goal 26lbs , but I am still trying. What I have started doing is I am very consistent with weekdays and weekends I fell off course, so I stick to plan monday to friday and saturday and sunday's I deviate a bit from the plan, and climb back on track on monday. I lose a bit slower bit I this is how I can cope with the diet.

Hi everybody! It's veggie day for me.
Rainbow, my 16 year old's last day was yesterday. He'll be a senior next year! But I think the craziest part of this week is going to come from getting packed and ready for vacation and driving 10 hours in a mid-size car with four other people, 2 being teenage boys, and one five year old "rock star/princess"! Thank goodness my best friend will be along. I'll let her mediate! lol
C-Me, congrats on the fitting of the capris! That is sooo exciting!
Thanks Lar for the reminder of how important cheat days are!
CarrieBeth, congrats on the 12 pounds! woohoo!
Welcome Babbette!
Dee Dee, also good advice given and a reminder to us all that inches count!
Losing, Hiker, and Rayna: Good luck on fruit day. I know that sandwich will be heavenly. I agree with someone who said we should be able to have a sandwich on veggie day too!
Pink, awesome deal on the exercise machine! Let us know how your new exercise program is going!
Alleyne! Good to hear from you! I was wondering how you were doing!
Well, friends, just want to say hang in there! We can do this!!!

Hi everyone,
I'm done with veggie day. It was not too bad. I'm up a couple of pounds. I'm thinking it's water gain, so I'm downing some H20. My body has done that before and the next couple days it drops and some. I'm too worried at all I know it will come off again.
Hiker-I saw John Lester on ESPN. That is awesome. It's so exciting when the pitcher does that. Randy Johnson did that for the D-backs a few years back and we still get excited to see the replay.
Pink- I'm so glad you can excercise. It always makes me feel better. We are having a heat wave right now and it's going to be around 110 today so I can't go walking. I'll probably do my Aerobic tape from the 80's
Ranyna- How wa your first day back? Fruit day today. Smoothies helped me a lot last time.
Lets stay Strong !!!

Hi Everyone! I'm new to this forum and the diet. I've always been pretty active, but I have a habit of binge-eating which is why I am heavier than I should be (173 lb on 5' 6" frame). Aside from losing the extra poundage to look good, I'm really wanting to try rock climbing which is too hard for me right now at my current weight.
Does anyone have any advice for a newbie????
Also, has anyone tried the calorie-shifting diet while exercising regularly? I don't know what regular or vigorous means, but I usually exercise twice a day if I have the time - 40-45 minutes of yoga in the morning and 30 minutes of weight training every other day and 30 minutes of cardio OR 60 minutes of cardio on days I'm not weight training.
Thanks alot!

C-Me, it is fun watching games like that...of course I get nervous and want to eat, but then again I pretty much always want to eat.
Pink, glad to hear you are able to do some walking now...it is amazing as we loose weight how so many of our health issues resolve. It's kind of sad what we do to ourselves but it sounds like you are making fantastic progress.
Maimouna, welcome to the site. I don't have any wise advise to give other than if you have any question please ask, someone will have an answer or at least an idea.
Boy this site has been quiet lately...guess everyone just needs some down time. It was fruit day for me and I had my sandwich for supper....a very large roast beef sandwich, boy was it good.
Good nite all.

Maimouna, sounds like you're getting plenty of exercise! I work out 6 days a week in my home gym; weights and cardio, so I can tell you you're only helping. Try not to knock yourself out during cardio; we burn more fat at a leisurely pace for 30-45 minutes. There's no need to do 60. If we really push and get our heart rates way up and soak ourselves, well, that burns mostly carbs, not much fat. So nice and easy does it. As for weight training, I don't do it for weight loss, only for muscle building and tone, which they tell me raises your metabolism and in turns burns fat, so that's just a plus.
Also, you may find you feel dizzy on fruit days. That's your body screaming for protein. So have a hard-boiled egg or some nuts and the dizzyness will go away. I have a whey protein shake. Works every time.
Any other questions, fire away. Someone here will be around to answer.
Best,
Larry

Hey folks:
Haven't had a chance to read everyone's post but wanted to let you know that I DID NOT start the diet on Monday but I did start on Tuesday. Monday night I had a date. Wow! Wierd dating after 3 1/2 years, but it was pretty fun with dinner, drinks and the theatre.
Will check in sometimes tomorrow, then catch up on all the posts.

C-ME-SHRINK:
What type of smoothies do you make on Fruit Day that are allowable?
Any help to get me through tomorrow would be truly appreciated! I have a pretty hard time with fruit day.

Hello all! Welcome to the newbies I see floating around here. You'll love it here, I know I do. Very supportive and fun.
Anyar - I made a great smoothie my last fruit day with some Crystal Light, frozen strawberries, and some fresh blueberries and raspberries. Quite yummy!!
And now, confession time. I stopped the diet for this week. It has just not worked out for me motivation-wise or food-wise. Mostly food-wise, actually. I was really unprepared. I don't know how I was so unprepared, because I'm at the grocery store constantly it seems, but there it is.
I'm not going overboard or anything (though there *might* have been a sausage breakfast sandwich involved...I'm not sayin'), I'm not out eating double-quarter-pounder cheeseburgers. But my weekend was nuts, I didn't get to the grocery store like I needed to (still haven't, in fact), and at one point I was just NOT in the mood for a meal of macadamias and bacon. Go figure, eh?
