I think that's really awesome. 16 lbs is a lot of weight to lose. I am at 173 and I would love to be at 130. I just started 6 days ago don't know how much I lost (and I WONT weigh in untill day 11) I am just really nervous about cheat days. What did you eat during cheat days? I don't want to gain back all my weight. COngradulations and keep it up

Hey ReallyTryin, I have only been at this a month but I only had 1 lb gain on cheat 1 and No gain on cheat 2. I treat myself to whatever I want, I just do so inside the IPD parameters, I eat until satisfied, not stuffed, I drink my water and I eat every few hours.
This past cycle I had, IHOP, O'Charley's, Pizza Hut and more, and like I said I had no gain.
I think part of the lesson is to learn that if we go back to overeating we will gain. Just one person's opinion.

scupple--I am exactly the same predicament! I'm 5'4" and weigh 126, too! I would love to lose 20 pounds. I want to trim the excess body fat and get svelte--I don't want to be chubby and soft anymore.

I just started today, so I'm feeling a little sad right now that you've been doing this for seven days and your results have been less than great. That was my fear--that people like us who don't have much to lose wouldn't really lose with this diet.

I just paid 27 bucks for this thing... I hope it works. I generated some different menus and I have to say--it seems pretty random. No pattern to the carb and protein meals. Is this whole thing a dupe?

keep in touch scupple and let me know if you are losing at all. I'll do the same.

loser_gal: I'll keep you posted.;)

Maybe the first time around, all that I will lose is water weight. I have been noticing that as the days go by I get thirstier and thirstier despite drinking 3 liters of water a day... this might be a sign of my body burning fat... i dunno. But I WON'T let my optimism get ahead of me. When it comes to losing "weight" I really don't care about what the scale says: the first few days I was dieting I would weigh myself- and after eating every so often and peeing out all the water, the weight would fluctuate up to seven pounds (as far as I've seen). I think the real measure of loss is getting it down to what you really want to see when you look at yourself (undeniably, a difference of 30 pounds on the scale is not so bad either).

Again, I'll let you know- I plan to weigh again Tuesday morning (day 8) and Friday morning (day 11). From Sunday, I calculated that, by the salespitch, I should have lost 5 lbs by then.

Try to keep in mind that it says you can lose up to 9 pounds in 11 days. Not everyone will have the same results with any diet. Our bodies are all different and will respond in different ways. As you can tell from some of the veteran members your weight loss will vary. Try to stay positive and remember that at the end of the day a loss is a loss.

Thanks Cris20056. I'm determined. This time around I want to be a little more creative with my meals.   I have gone back and read through a bunch of posts....so I'm caught up.  I've picked up a few good points here an there from other people's + and - experiences.  This is a great sounding board/support group.

Scupple and Loser Gal - I am another 5'4" person with 20 lbs to lose!  However I am almost definitely older than you girls (58) and this weight has crept up since the menopause and I cannot shift it - mostly round the waist.  I think that we will lose less quickly than others with more weight to lose, but I am going to persevere with this diet plan as I really like the four meals a day of either protein or carb - it seems to suit me (I do not get hungry) and I find I never stuff myself as eating chicken on its own, say, is not interesting enough to prevent you hearing your body telling you when you are full.  My temperamental digestive system is also very happy when I eat this way.  In fact after I have lost the 20 lbs I plan to carry on with this diet during the week permanently and eat what I like at weekends, as a maintenance plan.

I want my waist back by summer - so that gives me three months.

Thank you for the feedback, Jayelle.  I guess I will try to eat whatever I want and just not stuff myself.  I did think about not even doing the cheat days, but I know it is necessary in order to keep tricking your body into losing.

Okay , everyone... I couldn't help it.  Today is my day 7.  I know I said I would not weigh in until day11, but when I woke up this morning I just had to know.  And guess what?  I am down to 168.  That means I lost 5 lbs.  I have to motivation I needed to keep going cause Lord know I wanted to give up.

But honestly reading everyone's sucess is also very motivating.

Now, I know the deit says not to do intense exercise, but will it hurt?  I mean I am doing my walking for 30 min, but after that I sometimes either jog a little or do some taebo.

Hi everyone,

Im not having that great of a day. Im feeling really down for some reason. Im kind of bummed about my gain during the cheat days and I feel like Im just going to work this whole cycle to get that weight I gained off. Its very discouraging to me, but I know I have to keep going. I just cant seem to see the light at the end of the tunnel right now. Also, I work with my father and he just brought be a bagel with cream cheese. I am so hungry at just the thought of it and in my head I keep thinking well I already gained weight anyways so will eating this bagel really hurt? I feel like there is a war going on in my head right now debatng back and forth on whether to keep going or not..i:angry:ts very exhausting. I wish I was home because I really need a nap...

Sorry to be a downer but I was hoping someone would come up with some kind of motivational speech...:dizzy:

Chris,

If you are really hungry, you need to eat something.  BUT NOT the BAGEL!  Is there anything else nearby that you can eat?  ANd whatever you eat, just make sure you don't stuff yourself.  I am new to this, but the advice Jayelle gave, I think was good.  On your next cheat days, just don't eat until you are stuffed.  It is better to wait a few hours to eat again.

But don't go hungry and don't be sad and DON'T give up.  You have given so many of us inspiration!

Cris2006,

Hang in there! I am by no means an expert here...but my short experience with this diet has shown me that the first few days back on the cycle.....you will lose most (if not all) of what you gained on the cheat days. Tell Dad to eat that bagel (preferably outside) so you don't have to look at it!  That would be sheer torture for me too.  And, yes, definitely eat something...you'll feel better soon.  I think the hardest time for me was the first 2 11-day cycles.  Everyone's different and you don't no how your body will react.  I always carry a bottle of water with me (otherwise I'd forget to drink it).  Whenever I was really craving food I would chug a bunch of water...it would tide me over until my next meal.  I also keep some sugerfree gum handy...helped a lot! Extra has a new flavor called Cool Green Apple - I love it, feels like I'm cheating.

Every day will get a little easier....

Hi again everyone,

I was very pleased to come back to the forum and find the kind words. I truly dont know if I would still be doing this without all the support I get from you guys, and for that I am very greatful. You are all right, and for the record I did NOT eat that bagel. I did drink loads of water, and I had my second meal of the day which helped alot. You are all right and we  can all do this! I do want to be in my skinny jeans, forever! I jsut woke up feeling pretty rotten today and Ive been dizzy and weak, with a headache all day. Feeling that way probably didnt give me much motivation to be strong, but reading your words did.

Thank you all again for the constant support, and I'll let you know how It turns out at the end of this cycle...I do not want to quit another diet!!

Good luck and best wishes to all!

hey lucebianca, I mean that I eat until satisfied, space my meals out (every few hours) and get my water. That's all I mean by the parameters. I stick to the rules I've learned from the IPD handbook.
Hope this helps

Good morning all,

I just had a quick question...When you all have your 'delicious omelletes" how many eggs do most of you normally use? I used to do 2, but then i moved up to 3..and yesterday after i ate the 3 i was so stuffed! I mean I felt sick like I over ate! But I didnt mean to! I mean I was hungry and maybe I ate too fast and didnt realize I was full until it was too late, I dont know.

But, anyways, I jsut wanted to know how many eggs u all normall use and today Im fully motivated again to keep going and really watch what Im doing, because yesterday was just horrible over all. (at least i didnt eat that bagel!)

Thanks for any input,

Cris:)

I've been making 2 eggs and with each meal, I try to eat slow cause it is really hard for me to tell when I am "satisfied".  Sometimes I think I don't eat enough. Other times, I feel full.  I don't know.  But I guess our metabolisms are working because they say that if you get hungry, your metabolism has burned up its "fuel".  Cause usually right after I eat, I can't imagine eating again, but in a couple of hours, I feel like I am sooooo hungry.

I knew I made a mistake looking at that scale.  Today I weighed myself and I was 169 (1lb heavier than yesterday)  I don't understand!  I almost got discouraged, but I am determined to be "FINE" by the summer.

Take care everyone!  And oh, wher do you get oat bread.  I have just been eating a little bit of plain oatmeal to substitute:monkey:

ReallyTryin I get Oat Bran bread at Wal-Mart. It's Arnold Country Classics and its really good. It costs about $2.99 a loaf but its totally worth it for a good tasting fully legal bread. Hope this helps.
I use 2 eggs and its plenty. If I add meat to my omelette I can't finish it. If I just use veggies, its fine. I switch it up. But never more than 2 eggs.

Hi! I have been on this diet before and and lost 12 pounds. My friend stopped going walking with me and then I started cheating and finally quit. I started back on Mon the 6th. I am determined to lose this weight. I stay so depressed all the time. I have 30 pounds to lose but it seems like 100. Maybe someone can help me this diet is supposed to trick your metabolism by changing the foods you eat every day but what if your menu is almost the exact same thing every day? How will it work? Can someone give me a daily menu of what they eat? Mine is ham and pineapple, chicken, orange pineapple smoothie, eggs. Then the next day it is almost the exact same thing. If anyone can help me by giving me one of their daily menu's would be great. I think everyone on here is doing great I hope I can do as well as you guy's.    Thank's Lisa       I hope I am doing this right this is my first time posting.:D

Hi everybody!
I completed 11 days with a 9lb loss. I am on day 2 now of the cheat and have gained 3 of them back. Grrrrrr.
I just generated my 2nd diet for this next 11 days and am off to the market in the morn to pick up the food I need for the next few days.
I think the hardest thing for me so far has been that I have also gone cold turkey off of caffeine. I would normally drink a pot of coffee a day (with Hazelnut coffee creamer) and also treat myself to about 4 cokes. Since I have high blood pressure I have needed to give up caffeine for a long time. Not to mention the huge amount of calories that amount of sugary beverages has. Habits are so very hard to break. Evil they are!
This is a time of change though. I've enjoyed a steak on the grill, a chinese lunch buffet and french toast over my cheat time. I did manage to keep the portions to a size not considered obscene though. ;)
Wish me luck all....I'm trying hard to keep the faith!

Jayelle, you are doing fantastic! In fact congrats to all on this journey, you ALL inspire me.

I have found that I can do this within reason.  I have not pushed it too far (i.e. Hamburgers instead of ham/pinapple, etc.)
For example, I consider the plain chicken a pure carb meal, as is the oatmeal.  but the tuna salad combined protein and carbs (the vegetables) so I call that a combined protein/carb meal.  Does this make sense?
Chicken is protein and not carb.  Tuna is a protein.  Veggies have carbs, but way fewer than protein grams.

Good morning all,

I am now back to the weight I was before the cheat days so Im happier. But I really hope I lose more weight before my cycle is through. I am being a lot stricter with my portions this time around. Yesterday I only ate 1 egg with my omlette and it was acctually enough. So I might start just eating 1. I havent done any of the walking but my boyfriend said he would walk with me if I wanted (Im scared to walk around my neighborhood at night!), so I may start doing that. Next weigh in March 16..I'll let u know!

On*A*Mission- Congrats, on your weight loss! Kepp up the good work, just keep thinking 'skinny jeans', thats how you got me back on track!

ReallyTryin- Dont pay attention to the scale, especially not on your cheat days! I learned that the hard way. Next time Im determined not to weigh myself until im well into my 3rd cycle so I dont get discouraged!

To everyone else- Thanks for all the support when I was feeling down and discouraged you are all so great!:star:

Good luck!

:(:(:( I cheated last night... REALLY BAD. That's the bad news. How did I cheat? I went out with friends to this new bar. I had a glass of wine at home. Then I had a beer. Then I had a glass and a half of champagne. Then I came home drunk and ate cereal out of the box because I had major munchies and a handful of raw almonds. Definitely cheated--and this is only day 3!

The good news is, I woke up this morning and I looked slimmer than I did last week! I think it's all the protein. I feel so much better. The first couple of days was tough--I didn't have enough energy and I had to drink a lot of coffee to get by. But now I'm sleeping better and feeling better. I know I wasn't getting enough protein before--I used to be vegetarian, but it's hard getting good quality protein when you don't cook for yourself often and you're vegetarian, so this year I started eating meat again, but I really don't like meat. I'm a carb freak. This diet is making me eat more protein and it's making a difference.

I went to the doctor day one of the diet and I weighed in at 126... I was horrified because that's the most I've weighed in my life. But then, I weighed myself today and I weighed 117 with 30 percent body fat... Huh? I guess my scale is off. It's one of those Tanita digital scales that calculates body fat percentage, too. So now I don't know my starting weight because I refuse to believe I lost 9 pounds in three days. So maybe I should say losing weight is 120.

I'm glad I started this diet. I feel healthier if anything and I think it's teaching me to eat. I have a hardtime knowing when I'm full, though, and I have a hard time not eating late at night...

Any hints on how to stave off late night hunger? I'm a student/artist with mild insomnia and stay up late most nights.

This forum is great--without your support and reading about all of you wonderful people who are going through similar struggles I would never have even started this diet. so thanks!

Loser-gal,

Dont stress about cheating. I know how old you are but you seem to be somewhere near my age (22..23 in a few days :D) and I know how crazy things get when you go out with your friends and they all eat bad food and drink and never seem to gain an ounce! On my cheat days I drank so much! Im glad its over! Haha, anyways, dont stress over the cheating just make sure you get back on course the next day and keep going strong! We all make mistakes and our success is based on whether we acknowledge the mistake take it as a lesson and keep going! (WINNERS NEVER QUIT, QUITTERS NEVER WIN!)

As for the late night eating I know what you mean, especially if you are at school or going through school! Being there made me want to eat constantly especially with the stress of tests and papers! When I was at school my late night snacks were always wendy's and taco bell (who told them to stay open so late!) But just take what people said to mind and try to keep some fruit around or maybe some jello, i heard that was ok too.. and as long as you dont eat right before bed i think you will be alright. Supposedly you are supposed to allow 2 hours for your stomach to digest so you dont go to bed on a full stomach.. let me know how it turns out.

Good luck to everyone and keep going!!

Hi All!

Well, I weighed in today and was down another pound -- that brings me to 27lbs. lost.  Even though a pound doesn't sound like much, I'm happy for several reasons.  1) I surpassed my original goal of losing 25lbs. and am within "spitting" distance of my new goal which is to lose about 5 more (and as most of you know, it's harder to lose when you only have a few to lose). 2) I've added weights to my routine and muscle weighs more than fat so maybe I'm actually starting to tone up a bit. 3) I am almost down to my marriage weight, which was 21 years and 3 kids ago. 4) I feel good about myself again, and feel good in clothes (both new and old)! 5) I'm now at the point where I've altered the menus to how I  eat normally -- not necessarily eating what is on the menu, but using the general outline to fit my life.

Here's to continued good luck to everyone!

Thanks everyone for your advice!  And Congrats Shamrock!  you are an inspiration!

I'll try the fruit.  I think also I've been SO hungry this week because I'm PMSing right now and that always ups the appetite for me.

Cris, I'm 26 and a student, so I think we are in a similar position here.  Last night I went out with friends and drank more than a glass of wine and then I got hungry cos drinking makes me hungry so I had a burrito and french fries.  SIGH... I don't know guys, my will power right now is NIL.  But I'm getting right back on because, honestly, I like this diet.  I like that it tells me exactly what to eat.  I try to stick to it as closely as possible, but I do substitute depending on where I am and what's on hand.

Anyway, best of luck.  Tomorrow and veg and fruit day... which is fine, I used to be vegetarian.  I think the toughest thing for me will be only eating till I'm full and only eating three meals.

Shamrock- WOW! Congrats, I cant wait until I can say the same thing!

Loser_gal- I know what you mean.  I get terrible munchies when I drink too, but like I said before Wendy's was the first place Id run too. I havent drank too much on this diet expect on one of my cheat days, and after drinking for a bit I ate lots of fries :crying: Dont give up even though you may feel like you dont have any motivation now, once you lose more weight and you fight into clothes you never thought you wuld again it makes you so happy and even more motivated then you were at the beginning. Everytime I get aggravated, want to quit, or feel unmotivated, I read over the forum, look at my current weight (to see how far Ive already come!), and look into my closet at all the stuff that used to make me look cute and now has dust on it!

As for the veggies day, I knwo what you mean. Mine is on Sunday this time and I am NOT looking forward to it. I took someones advice and woke up as late as I could waited a little bit to eat then ate, waited 3 hours before my next meal, ate , waited another 3 hours, ate then went to bed early! The idea is to cut the day as short as possible, i guess if you are an insomniac that wont be as easy for you!

Good luck and I hope you dont give up!

Hi everyone. I just spent an entire afternoon reading through every single posting in this thread. SO MOTIVATIONAL!! Downloaded WL4I a couple days ago but haven't been able to start as I've been quite busy. Since it's the weekend, I decided to start this monday, 13th March. Reading thru this thread has inspired me so much and I'll be back frequently to get more motivation and maybe some support!

Hi guys.

On a mission: I was just wondering, since you lost 6lbs in 5 days, can you notice a difference already in how you look?

I am really excited to get started. I can't wait for monday!

Hey I'm new here and after reading all of your guys' comments on fat loss for idiots, i decided to start the diet. it seems too good to be true...but i guess its not. I was just wondering about the food they tell you to eat, how much of it are you supposed to eat? and if your not full can you eat something else like fruit or veggies? also what kind of drinks can you have? thanx 4 ur guys' help.

I read some one's comments about not eating cheese.  I thought we could eat cheese sometimes like with eggs.  I really hope I did not kill my diet with the cheese

I have avoided cheese since low fat seems to be a big part of the meals, but i have added it to burgers and even sandwiches.  Eat it if it keeps you on and you make progress.  If you can go without, leave it off for a small performance boost.

Also have any of you ever used diet pills while on this diet? Recommend or not?  If so, which one?

I never have, but I really encourage you to try and not rely on these since this is teaching you to eat for life.

Jayelle wrote: Hey ReallyTryin, I have only been at this a month but I only had 1 lb gain on cheat 1 and No gain on cheat 2.

I can add my recommendation to what you are saying.  I think you absolutely have captured what is needed for the cheat days and eating for life.

We are off right now since we took a few days in the country and had company in again.  I have gained a few, but after being off and having foods that I have been missing, I will take the few.  I realize how much my body needs based on what I eat when I am on the diet, but I still over eat.

However, I am learning!

Point is, good point, Jayelle!

ReallyTryin wrote: Now, I know the deit says not to do intense exercise, but will it hurt?  I mean I am doing my walking for 30 min, but after that I sometimes either jog a little or do some taebo.

Let me repeat what I said in Feb.

The question is what can you do?  Walking is touted by FL4I as the best fat burning exercise, but anything that just elevates your heart rate is ideal for this. (Look at any cardio machine at the target level of heart rate for fat burning.  Same concept here!)  Read this:

exercise.about.com/cs/cardioworkouts/l/aa022601a.htm

Anyway, if you walk for 30 minutes, you will do some good.  Walking for longer does more good.  The key is to find out what gets your heart rate up to the target level and for most of us, brisk walking does it.  However, I am a firm believer in building muscle.  The more that you build, the more that you burn 7x24 to keep those muscles going.

The point is, eat healthy and exercise will ALL add benefit of one kind or another.  If you jog, you will burn more over all and still burn fat, so I think you are fine doing it.

I am so excited to have found this forum !!, I started the diet on 03/07 .. I was doing very well ,lost 2 pounds on the 4th day ..was very motivated to stick to it.

We got some unexpected guests on Sat, I didnt want to tell them I was on a diet and tried my best to work around the meal times. We all went to chinese and I ordered Scallion Chicken .. I fugured I will just have the chicken and no rice/noodles/egg roll that comes with it. When the dish arrived I realised the chicken was breaded , fried and had a sweet sauce (It said it was spicy :(). I had no option but to eat it without making a huge scene .... so i just gave up and let go of the diet.

Got up today, and wanted to continue the same diet ... cos well i just need to do it .. Has anyone done it this way before, cheated on the 5th day and citnue the diet from day 6 ? ..  Should I just restart my whole 11 day diet ( I will have to wait another week to do that as we are visiting friends over the weekend .. i wanted to loose a few pounds before we visit them ..:() .. Please help.

Good mornin y'all,

Tryin'*Hard- I fell of the wagon this weekend too. This morning I just went on with my day 8 as if nothing had happend. Since this is the first time I acctually did this I wont tell you if itll tunr out alright, but I have read in the past that if you fall of just get back on and keep going, so Im going to accept the consequences of my actions and keep on..

I just had the most horrible time being good this weekend- Friday went off alright, Saturday was the most beautiful day we have had in awhile here in MD and we decided to have a picnic. I figured since I could have a sandwich that day I would jsut eat that and I would be fine. But everyone one else had soda, chips, potato salad, and much better looking sandwiches..I ate my sandwich and 3 cheetos :( but I thought ok well i cheated but I cant let it get to me. So I said ok calm down its only 3 cheetoos and Ill jsut run around a bit and maybe itll even out. Basically I just said oh well nothing I can do about it now. Sunday my boyfriend and I got into a huge arguemnt and like always I turned to food for comfort. I had a bag of popcorn at the movies (with lots of butter:angry:) and then I went to burger king and got a whopper meal (with a coke and fries :pig:)..I am so dissapointed with myself. Especially since Sunday was my veggie day! ugh...but I am not going to quit. As long as I dont gain any weight this cycle I will be happy...I will have to deal with being so horrible and not expect to lose as much, if at all!

Thursday is my last day of my second cycle and I cant wait to start cycle 3 already! I jsut want to prove to myself that I can stick to something, and acctually accomplish something! So Im trying not to be too hard on myself for the slips because if I do that I knwo Ill give up!

Anyway, I weighed in at 180.2 this morning which is a 2lbs loss over all this cycle...hopefully Ill get another pound of before its over I cant seem to get under 180...when I see 179 on the scale im going to be ecstatic!

Let me know how you are all doing, and stick with it! I know I will

Cris

One more thing...(sorry I know i tend to ramble on and on)

I have noticed some posting about hamburgers...I have never had that on my menu. Is that what you eat when it says you can have a sandwhich of any type or does your menu acctualy say 'eat a hamburger"?

Thank You Cris, Just knowing that I am not all alone does help. I am back on the diet and hoping for a anouther pound loss.

Usually when you select hamburger in ur menu, It comes up on the first day of your menu and you can have any kind of bread/bun with anything on it.

It's there Cris.  Instead of Hotdog or sandwhich of any type.  Always question 8.

Either way, just consider a Cheeseburger with anything on it a sandwich.  It really is anyway.
