So, I know it hard to explain...but what exactly is satisfied? I know they say if you aren't sure, eat less, but this whole week I have been stuggling with this feeling. Anyone else have this problem? I guess this is why I have slowly gained weight over the past several years...I have a habit of overeating. Any tips would be great.

The last newsletter was about sweets, but there are some tips that will help you with all your food, like eating slowly:

Hi Brandie,
I struggled with this a little too, but eventually your body tells you you've had enough. When the hunger goes away, you're satisfied, and that's my rule of thumb. For days when I'm super hungry and concerned I might overdo it, I drink a glass of water before each meal. That way I feel full when I've really only eaten enough to be satisfied. Plus, it's a good way to make sure you get your water in. Hope that helps.

I think we all struggle with this one. For me its is easy to ignore my satisfaction point if I am eating something that I really enjoy.
I know I'm satisfied when I make an obvious inhale. I've heard others say this too. It happens every time. Yesterday evening when I was having my pasta, I did this. I had about two bites left so I finished what was in my bowl. I can pretty much eyeball how much it will take to satisfy me these days. I try to make sure I don't put more than that on my plate to prevent myself from finishing it anyway (like last night ;))
Might I suggest you keep a food journal for a few days. Just long enough to get to know your body.
Record how hungry you were, about how much you ate, and how you felt in intervals afterward. (Say 1/2 hour, 1 hr 2 hr and 3 hrs) At the 3 hr mark you should be about ready to have something else. That way you can start to get a good feel for how much it takes for you. If you are stuffed at the 15 minute mark you know you ate too much. If at the 1 hour mark you are hungry again then you ate too little.
I hope this helps,
Jayelle

| not sure if this works 4u, but in my past diet it has....try saying or singing a few sentences in between each bite.....this will train u to eat ur food slower n feel fuller. Ur brain needs a few minutes to know that you are full....so by eating slowly it will allow ur brain to know that you are now full....thus telling u that ure satisfied.
