Hello all.

I am new to this forum, although not new to this site.

I have a situation I am hoping SOMEONE can help me with. This is long, but please bear with me.

I just turned 37 but went through Menopause at 17. For 20 years now, I have had a constant weight struggle that got even harder 2 years ago. Hormonally my body shifted again in 2003 and I put 20 MORE pounds on top of my already curvaceous frame.

Last Jan. I began Atkins, seeing it as 'fool-proof'. Well after 4 months of stricter than strict on this supposed 'fool-proof' plan, I had shed 2-4 pounds. Naturally, I was very disappointed, so I consulted my Endocrinologist. He told me to UP my exercise. I was currently involved in kickboxing 2 times per week as well as walking.

Now, my regime is as follows:  sunday, tuesday and wednesday is 1 hour of INTENSE cardio kickboxing. monday through friday 55 minutes of elliptical machine with varying degrees of intensity. 3 days a week at weight training days, 35-40 minutes per session. and DAILY I do 15-20 minutes of jumping rope.

I am STILL holding the weight...it's a wonder to me, but with all that I am reading, I am now aware that I may not be expending all the calories I am possibly consuming.

My question ( after all that..lol) is this :

Is all this working out null and void because I have not lost a pound...or when I get my eating controlled better, will I see BIG results?

I mean, it can't possibly be that I am not making ANY strides with all of this, can it?

Thank you for reading me.

Welcome!

Each of us is so different it's a learning process for each of us... discovering what works. And what doesn't!

You have not wasted anything with your exercise! It is building muscle which burns calories faster than fat, and building endurance to help you burn more.

Hang in there and you'll discover what works right for you!

Thank you Peter.

I am despirately searching for what works for me.....ugh, such a process.

What makes me kinda mad? I have been at it for a year now, and I am the SAME EXACT WEIGHT. I guess I could be more, but with 12 days to go to being on a beach in Aruba, that doesn't help!!!

Thank you again for your reply!
