Hello there. I am a 5'2 , 21 year old female. Over the summer I took up cycling regularly, an an hour a day. I havent lost any weight and now im extremely demoralized.
I am a regular smoker and I dont eat much but when I do eat I end up eating junk food as that is the only available option at university.
I need to lose 20 lbs at least., I currently weigh 126 lbs and am extremely unhappy with my weight, I gained on my upper arms and thighs. I am desperate to lose the weight and I'd lose the weight gradually. Please Help with a flexible options as I am away from home from 8 a.m to 7 p.m

| Are you eating enough? Your unadjusted RMR is around 1300...that means you should never eat less than this. If you're cycling, you should eat even more. If the only options to you are junk food, go to a store and stock up on foods you can bring with you. Most fruit is very portable, as are granola bars (just watch the sugar content), trail mix, cereal, cut up veggies, and many other things if you could maybe bring a small cooler with you. The key is to plan ahead! And try to eat 5-6 times a day.

| Your RMR is your resting metabolic rate...it's what you need just to function day to day. It doesn't sound like you're eating enough if what you put is all you had all day. That could definitely stall your weight loss.

| At first, sure, you'll lose water weight and muscle weight, and maybe some fat. But you continue to keep your body in starvation mode, and it will hold onto the weight. Not sure how long you've been eating so little, but when you lose muscle, your metabolism slows down and you put on more weight...not what you want, right? Read the tutorials on this site, they should explain things better.

The last poster is correct as you may well be aware once you get to starvation levels then your metabolism starts to shut down and you may even put on weight as fat takes longer to be broken down.
Do not even go there, I have and it is an awful experience. I would suggest a balanced dit coupled with exercise such as be found here. I followed the advice and lost 30lbs
Yours in health

Tratra is right, you need to eat more and eat more healthy foods. Nobody ever looses weight by starving themselves without having serious health issues. So, eat healthy and exercise to loose weight.
Eating less is not always what some of us need to loose weight. So, I would get some healthy snack foods that you can keep around and chow on. Nuts are always a good thing. They are high in good fats and tasty. But, don't eat to many of them.
Good Luck,,,

I am not starving myself, its just all i can eat in a day. Its because of my bad eating habits, if i eat more i feel sick or my stomach acts up.
Im allergic to nuts.

Just because you're not trying to starve yourself, or don't have time to eat, doesn't mean your body doesn't need it. I'm in college too and am on campus for long hours everyday, but I always make sure to pack something with me when I know I'll be gone long. I'll usually bring some chicken breast, maybe some cottage cheese, or ham slices with cheese and lettuce. It takes a little extra time in the morning to get ready... but it's worth it to keep my metabolism going.
I know it sounds very counter-intuitive, but if what you're doing right now isn't working, what's the harm in eatting more for a while?
Good luck!
Oh yeah, also, if you get your BMI all the way down to 18, you'll be technically underweight... maybe lose a little at a time and re-evaluate that.

Hello Aenima,
First of all just left smoking habbit as its not good for your health, Do some meditation and exercise to control it.
Junk Food is not good for you, why don't you get your meal from your place, try to avoid junk food from university. To loose weight exercising is good option for you so just stick on that.
