i know that everyone is built differently and carry weight at different areas of the body.

i am at 116lbs yet have a 28-inch waistline.

i just want to know about OTHER people:
what are you waistlines and how much do you weigh?

i know it's not a matter of weight that determines the waistline as weight constitutes fat and muscle weight.
BUT FOR GENERALITIES SAKE, please reply with your weights and waistlines-- THANK YOU!

ps. i just came from a forum and read that a 5'5 woman (which is also my height) who weighs 125lbs has a 26-inch waistline.
so yes, i'm very much concerned.
(but i am also beginning a new healthier diet and am beginning to exercise on a daily basis.)

Can I ask why you are concerned about your waitline?  Everyone is built different, there is no reason you should have the same waist line as someone else who weighs the same as you do.

Just measured myself now. I'm 5'3" and 126.8lb. My waistline [narrowest point] is 27". But at my navel it's 31" :crying:. My waistline is quite high up so I'm never sure which to use - some places say use narrowest, some say navel. So I record both.

I can understand why you would be concerned [not in reference to your waistline personally! But as a response to OnceUpon-A-ThinGirl] because all the posters I see around about diabetes and heart disease mention waist measurement, not weight/BMI/bodyfat%. I'm guessing that's because extra weight carried around your middle increases the risk for those conditions, hence men who are more likely to pack on weight around their waist are more susceptible to heart disease.

I'd say if your BMI and bodyfat% are in the healthy range and generally you are well it isn't much to worry about medically, unless it's for personal aesthetic reasons. Either way, a healthier diet and daily exercise is no bad thing.

Many experts say its the hip to waist ratio that determines whether your waist size is healthy.  Is that calculator on here?  If not you can find it here:
