I'm 16 years old, 5'3 and 114 pounds. Which means my BMI is somewhere in the 20-22 range, which is normal, but because of my bone structure and my tendency to only gain weight on my belly it doesn't look as good as it should.
Now, 5 months ago I was 140 pounds, and I lost it all through really crazy dieting, completely cutting out sugar and fat and not eating at all for a few days once (which I now realize was a mistake!!!) I recently joined a gym in the hopes of knocking off those last few pounds (my goal is about 108-110). I went there twice so far in the last 3 days, running on a treadmill for half an hour and doing some light strength training, played tennis and stuck to the same diet. I gained two pounds even though I had the same intake and was using more energy.
I think I put my body into "starvation mode" during that crazy diet phase and now I don't know what to do or how to get my metabolism back to normal without gaining all the weight back.
Any suggestions?

| I'm not sure how many calories you're consuming now...your RMR is around 1200...so you should go no lower than that. I would say slowly increase your calories, keep up the exercise, and you should be fine.

Hi,
Maintain your exercise. Aerobic exercise will burn calories and strength training will build muscle which will increase your metabolism. Don't stop eating. Rather, eat a good breakfast, a healthy snack mid-morning, a good lunch, another snack mid-afternoon and a good dinner. You should eat 5-6 times a day, particularly if you're exercising.
Tratra is right about your calorie intake. Don't go too low as your body will think it's being starved and you'll go into a mode that holds on to the fat stores you have.
When you eat, make sure you get some healthy fats such as olive or canola oil, the fats in pistachios (just a handful) etc. You can cut out processed sugar but the sugar in fruit is great.
Read the tutorals on this site. They give you a good bit of info that will explain why we gain weight and what we need to do to get it off.
Hang in there!
