i am a 20 year old girl, and i currently weigh 116 lbs. i'm 5'5 in height.
last year, around october, the parties lined up almost everyday, and as a result, i gained around 6-8 lbs. even before that, i guess i hadn't really kept track of what i was eating, as i was used to having a slim body and felt i could eat as much without gaining as much. however, i think the food binge was what did me in.
i used to have a totally flat stomach, and a 27inch waistline. now it's got a little bulge, and my waistline is now up to 28.5inches. my hips measure around 36.5inches.

i recently started working out on the crosstrainer, but i'm bad at endurance. i only manage 15minutes a day and try to do around 15crunches afterwards, and i'm slowly working that number up until i can manage around 90-100 a day. (since i read some advice that it's better to start at 10 and increase 1 per day to get to the bigger crunch numbers.)

so how should i set my goals? i want to get down to around 106lbs, but i don't know if this would actually really decrease my waistline. furthermore, i've tried eating less, as recommended, but not to the point that i would starve myself.

do you have any advice on what i could do about this and if i should make any more changes?
i used to never exercise but i feel its importance, specially since i have a slightly higher resting heart rate than normal, usually around the 120s. (this is also why i feel i cannot do more than 15minutes, because by then, my heart feels like it's about to explode.)

any advice/comments/suggestions would be appreciated. thank you so much.

well, at your current weight, i think eating less would only do more harm than good.  if you are serious, i would find a way to find your body fat %.  that will tell you so much more than the scale ever could. you are already 116 so really, if you have a belly, check your body fat %.  it can be totally surprising.

the only way to build endurance it to keep at it.  you just have to increase bit by bit.  don't push so hard that you feel you are going to collapse, but enough so it feels like work (and work means- yeah, ya don't want to do it, but you know that at the end the paycheck is not too shabby... ends justify the means... blah blah blah...).  add more time every week... or a smaller amount every day (seriously, like a minute)...

cardio and a healthy diet are really the best ways to get rid of fat.  yes, doing crunches build muscle and you shoud continue to keep wokring your muscles, no doubt!  if you dn't, you will regret it.. and it is absouety necessary!  you don't want to lose that hard to gain/easy to lose/ dramatically important LEAN BODY MASS (don't you love the sound of "lean body"?  i sure do!).. and you have to have cardio and a healthy diet in there.  and cheating occasionally is alright.  i assume you are in school?  college, uni, something along those lines?  well, you can best bet that you will gain if you keep partying (been there...  oh yes...) but you can still have a good time and keep in shape.  just don't party everyday. couple times a week might be great for you.  once a week might be great.  just find out your happy medium.. that's really all you can do.

hope you figure it out!

well, i have a scale and though i doubt its accuracy, it says i have about 22-24% body fat. i don't think that's a very good percentage, is it?

anyway, thanks for the advice on how to build up endurance.. i've read that the recommended duration for exercising is 30minutes, at a minimum. hopefully i can keep at it and add a minute everyday until i get there, and then some..

in your opinion, do you think that my workout/routine is enough already? i've heard that doing weights would do more good, but i'm unfamiliar with most weights exercises and i'm unsure of its effectivity if i do the exercises wrong. i mean, i do have weights, but i'm skeptical because i'm not sure exactly how i should go about it.

and yes, i'm still in my 3rd year of college, so there aren't much healthier food choices on campus because the most common foods are processed or those that can be prepared in the least amount of time, and the fat/health factor isn't considered as much.

i really appreciate your response! thanks so much!
