I am a 29 year old female.  I started out at around the 1st of April at 218 and when I joined this site I last week I was bouncing around 213-210. My goal is around 140-150.  I'm now at 209 but am a bit confused at what I should do.  I have been doing 1500 calories a day with light activity.  I will start walking tomorrow and want to eventually add Boflex workouts.  I'm not sure that I'm doing this right.  I'm afraid I will do something wrong or not loose weight and loose interest.  Tonight I had a microwave 250 calorie meal for supper but felt like it wasn't the right thing to have because it tasted too good.  Any suggestions on what to do?

I don't want to sound stupid but I just don't get it.  I have always had a problem understanding weight loss.  I think that's why I've lost intrest in the past.  I fail because I don't know what I'm doing.  I was extremely hurt today and gave into emotional eating.  I'm now at 208 so down about 10lbs in 3 weeks and today was told I'm not doing it right.  I am doing 1500 calories and today I was told I'm doing it wrong that I should do 800-1200 calories.  I feel like I have done good so far but when I was told this I started questioning myself.  Isn't that unhealthy?  But then again am I doing to many?  I've done the calculators and I just don't get it.  Please help...

Your unadjusted RMR is around 1600-1700 (I don't know exactly because I don't know your height). Eating 1500 is cool and you should be seeing results. Eating 1200 might work but it is a bit risky works for some people (accelerates fat loss) but others stall (body adjusts and they stop losing) so it is a case of try it and see. Eating any less than 75% of your unadjusted RMR should not be attempted without close medical supervision so think of ~1200 as the absolute minimum.

There is a lot of material out there about the mechanics of weight loss, check some of it out to put your mind at ease. The tutorial is great place to start.

My point above was that clever food selection can leave you happy and satisfied on this number of calories, so you are less likely to fall off your plan. However some people benefit from more help - for example I am a member of OA (overeaters anonymous) and I explore the reasons behind emotional eating through that program.

Thanks so much for your help.  I am understanding much better.  I have decided to stick with 1500 since I am seeing results. I just feel that at 1200 I will be hungry and binge eat or burn myself out. I was just surprised to hear that from him, I thought he knew a lot about fitness.
