Oh man. I am going to be one of those people that just cannot do it. Victor, you need a REAL inspiration. I lost a kilo my first week and was sooo excited! I kept doing what I had been doing and now, after my second week...I am back up where I started!!!! I told my husband that I was giving up and of course he told me not to but I am really frustrated and depressed. Can anyone help me? I realize that it has only been two weeks but on every other diet that is when I lost the MOST weight, I certainly didn't reach a plateau already! Sigh......

| We all go thru plateaus...just think, you got your first one out of the way early! Maybe next week will be a big loss, but you'll never know unless you stick with it!

C;mon Cathy, hang in there. There will be bad weeks!! If losing fat and getting healthy were easy, we would all be super-fit!! It takes some work, and sometimes no matter how much you out in, you just don't get what you ought to back otu. But it will even out!!!

Thank you guys sooooo much for replying and not just figuring that I was a quitter. That means a lot to me. I know it is not easy, and I never thought that it would be. I am just feeling especially depressed today, probably pms. I guess that could explain the weight, not to mention that my legs are swollen...that would be another good reason. Don't worry, I didn't binge out or anything. I couldn't if I wanted to! My husband is not into sweets or cakes so there is nothing in the house. I will do it! I will stick with it and keep you up to date! You are all so nice!

| New to the forum, but I want to say stay with it. Also I've had lots of trouble losing weight, and for sure some of it has been discipline, but something that made a big difference for me was to focus on getting rid of high fructose corn syrup. This is kind of my high horse and after doing some research I can't believe how bad this stuff is for us and it is in almost everything. It can really slow things down FYI diet stuff is usually loaded with it.

You beat me to it, I was going to suggest PMS. Don't let it get you down. You are not in this for the day to day changes. You are in it for the long run. You need to be OK and recognize that your weight could go up 'that time of the month'. If you retain a lot of water, maybe up to 6 pounds!! Also sodium can make you retain water. So DO NOT get discouraged, you will see it all come right back off. Don't sweat it and don't give up. You are not a quitter, on the contrary you did exactly the right thing, coming here for inspiration when you needed it!!!! Now get back out there and show those hormones who is boss!!!

If weight loss were easy, we wouldn't need this forum. And everyone would be thin!
But think what would happen if we all gave up!
As my monkey always says... hang in there!

You are all so nice! I feel so silly about the way I was yesterday. You guys don't know half of it. I was in tears, saying my whole life has been a failure...the typical pity party. I am bipolar, so my emotions can really run away with me! My husband says that it makes life interesting... He's really great too, like you guys. Thank you all again so much! You will keep me going, and I hope that I will be able to help you all too when the time comes.

Hi CathyWe -
You don't mention what program or diet you're following.
But you do mention that you've followed other diets previously, so you know that it's important not to find just a 'diet', but also a sustainable lifestyle, so that you don't have to go this route again.
Please read the tutorials on caloriesperhour.com, if you haven't already.
Also, work on your frame of mind before and during your program. It's part of the jigsaw, and you need all the pieces.
Good luck!

Hey, I've hit a platuea too...I lost 50 lbs. Put back on 10 and haven't lost anymore. But, I did start going to a gym faithfully and have lost some inches! Plus I feel soooo much better! My knees don't hurt as much and I can feel myself getting stronger. It'll happen, give it time.
