I'm not a Christian, but I listen to black gospel music anyway, because the beat really keeps me on track.

Godsmack - Whatever
Poison - Talk Dirty to Me
Pussycat Dolls - Don't Cha
Scandal - Goodbye to You
Shania Twain - Man I Feel Like a Woman
Soul Asylum - Somebody to Shove
Three Days Grace - Animal I Have Become; I Hate Everything; Just Like You
Three Doors Down - Kryptonite
Bush - Little Things; Comedown; Machinehead; Everything Zen
Creed - What If; One; Higher
Metallica - Ain't My Bitch; Fuel; Hero of the Day; King Nothing
Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten
Gosh, I'm sure there's plenty more...trying to remember what's left on my mp3 player.

If I was better about exercise I'd probably have more, but this is what gets me moving:
White Riot - the Clash
Higher Ground - the Red Hot Chili Peppers
Bad Reputation - Joan Jett
Battery, Master of Puppets (live versions) - Metallica
Hot for Teacher - Van Halen
Bring the Noise - Public Enemy/Anthrax
Dance on Through the Night - Santana
Rollin 69 - Rob Zombie
Innagoddadavida - the Slayer version
Bawitdaba - Kid Rock
I look like a good little midwest catholic girl, but I'm really kind of a metal head!

Hey Midge! I know the feeling! I'm always a little shy when I have to admit my fave bands are Metallica & Godsmack. I LOVE your choices by the way! My son stole my Master of Puppets cd LOL!

| Hi Scoobs - not to get off topic but if you don't have it get the S&M CD. It's the one Metallica did with some symphony - everything is sped up and awesome.

Ha, I totally have Hot for Teacher on my playlist frequently too! I don't know what it is about that song, but it's just such a blast to listen to!
Now I don't have a specific tracklist that I play every time I'm out and about, but instead I have a rather eclectic arrangement based on who I like at the moment: Circa Survive, Coheed and Cambria, and even a few songs from the Postal Service. I throw in some Gnarls Barkely when the mood suits me. There's also a few songs from the Ataris that I like. Throw in some Guns n' Roses and Van Halen to round out the mix, and I'm good to go!

Gave me some good ideas for pump up music!

Got some more anything from early Red Hot Chilli Peppers (Pre Mothers Milk). Anything BY D.R.I or S.O.D. Not your average music that people listen to

The Hamster Dance Song by Hampton the Hamster is a great workout song if you are not in the mood to work out. It's so funny that it makes your workout totally enjoyable even when you are down in the dumps

I listen to about everything from the new stuff to the good oldies. I can't do country, my parents turned me against it, from having to listen to it non stop growing up.
I put them on my phone, (old nokia) and listen to it on my bluetooth headset. So, I can change the song frequently and it holds allot of them.
One of these days, I will have an ipod shuffle. (dreaming, or hoping someone will buy one for me)
I loved everyone's choices of music. I think I have listen to most of them on the list at one point or another.

Wow, thanks that is really helpful. I also don't like country but lately I found a country song that I can listen to over and over again, its by Carrie Underwood - Before he cheats. (maybe a good song to stretch or walk too.) I love dance songs but last month my husband bought me this cd of Roxette and it reminds me of when I was younger and had lots of energy, I added the songs to my mp3, and for some reason it motivates me, I get all hyper! Which is NOT me at all. lol

Just found a couple of fun songs from the 90's that I'd forgotten about:
Groove Is In the Heart by Dee Lite I hadn't heard this in years, it is such a fun song!
Quad City DJ's - C'Mon Ride That Train
Everybody Dance Now (can't remember the name of the band)
Are You Gonna Go My Way Lenny Kravitz
I have a huge 90's playlist that I downloaded the other day! It sure takes me back to my teen and pre-teen years, I was REALLY into music then. Part of my teen angst thing I guess...lol...but neat to hear a lot of these again.

All good tunes! LOL...I just started working out this week and I listened to Dave Matthews Crash album (or CD or whatever they are called today) and it kept me on the elliptical for the whole half hour. It kept me going when I needed to and let me catch my breath when I had to or I was going to fall off the machine and quit...lol! I had to chuckle...Groove is in the Heart....I remember that song...lol!

How can you walk to "Thriller" without doing that crazy zombie shuffle they do in the music video? That song gets me every time. It's very awkward at the mall, y'know.

My spin teacher played a lot of Milk Inc (European dance group) in her classes. I'm not normally into dancy-trancy stuff, but the RPMs on the tracks provide a great steady pace for cycling and helped me keep within my recommended heart rate zone.
Since she left (boo), I put together my own "Dancy-Trancy Fat Burning Spin" which is now an iMix on iTunes.
When I get sick of clubby stuff, I'll listen to anything from The Smiths (Big Mouth Strikes Again is GREAT for spinning, although not my favourite Smiths track), The Avett Brothers, Tito Puente (or any classic NY mambo), ska and English rock and pop (reminds me of home . )
To cool down, I've just discovered the Great Lake Swimmers - very relaxing.
