I have found lead Hamburger Patties at the grocery store near my house. They have 130 Calories and 7g Fat. I used Whole Wheat Buns and make burgers on my George Forman Grill or the BBQ.

I have also found lower fat Hot Dogs and Smokies. The Fat Free Hot Dog Weiners and not so good but Turkey Smokies are quite yummy.

I have these on the weekends when I have time to cook them and have time to go for a long run to burn off the calories.

Yes, I still cook out on the grill on occasion.

We try to buy Laura Lynn 96/4 or 92/8 ground beef, since it's more natural. When it's  not available, we buy the standard 93/7.

I make Ball Park dogs for the rest of the family, and buy Hebrew National 97% Fat Free for me. They're not bad.

Oh yeah!  I'd be lost without my little George Foreman grill. :tongue:  I'm always tossing on chicken breasts, lean hamburger patties and turkey burgers. :yum:

Oh, I like the turkey brats. The regular ones are to greasy for me. I think they almost have a spicy italian taste to them.

Yep, we grill all the time. I usually do healthy things for myself and whatever anybody else wants. We get very creative with grilling, since we camp allot its about the only way we cook beside breakfast and it's done a griddle.

Asian-Spiced Turkey Burgers

  • 2 slices firm-textured white bread
  • 1 O Organics™ Large Egg, beaten to blend
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced green onions
  • 2 tbsp. Safeway SELECT™ Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp. minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp. minced fresh ginger
  • 1 1/4 lbs. ground turkey (not extra-lean)
  • 4 large potato hamburger buns or wheat hamburger buns, split horizontally
  • Garnishes: red leaf lettuce leaves, hoisin sauce or Chinese mustard, and plum sauce or Safeway Ketchup
1. Whirl bread in a food processor or blender until fine crumbs form. Pour crumbs into a bowl and combine with egg, green onions, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. Add turkey and gently mix with a fork just until ingredients are evenly blended.

2. Divide turkey mixture into 4 equal portions. With your hands, shape each portion into a 3/4-in.-thick patty. If making ahead, lay patties side by side on a plate, cover airtight, and chill up to 24 hours.

3. Prepare a gas or charcoal grill for direct, medium-high heat (you can hold your hand 1 to 2 in. above the cooking grate only 2 to 3 seconds; visit our Grilling Essential section for complete instructions). Place burgers on well-oiled cooking grate; cover gas grill. Cook, turning once with a wide spatula, until meat is opaque in center (cut to test), about 10 minutes total. During the last minute of cooking time, place buns with cut sides down next to burgers and cook until toasted.

4. Transfer buns to a platter, tuck burgers inside, and garnish to taste.

PER SERVING 427 CAL., 28% (123 CAL.) FROM FAT; 33 G PROTEIN; 14 G FAT (3.2 G SAT.); 39 G CARBO (2.1 G FIBER); 941 MG SODIUM; 157 MG CHOL.

it sounds yummy, though i wonder if the bread crumbs are necessary and if so, if one could use a firm whole wheat version.  also, why not the extra lean turkey?  i wonder if you could use ground chicken breast.  i know buffalo meat is a lot leaner than beef, but i'm not sure how it compares to turkey or chicken.. i wonder how it would taste with that? (yes, buffalo is really really good and good for you, too).

I love things cooked on the grill, I'm careful though, because I love sauce.

We have a local buffalo farm so that's the kind of meat I tend to barbeque for hamburger, I do occasionally buy turkey burger, I use that more for meat sauces though, it's a flavor thing.
