Yes, especially so.
http://www.caloriesperhour.com/tutorial_salt.php explains that salt makes you retain water: but drink lots of water and the sodium is now more diluted and your body can let go of some of the water it has been retaining (caution: there is such a thing as drinking too much water)

Nir hit it right on the head, you need a balance of salt and water

I have never heard of drinking to much water as being a bad thing. Please explain...

Drinking too much water can cause hyponatremia. It's very rare, but potentially fatal, and has to do more with drinking too much water in a short period of time.
Here is some more info, if you're interested:

That was very interesting. I had no clue.
Ok, now what about tea? I drink a ton of tea, is that bad? Sometimes I will drink two or three 32oz glasses before bed or when I am working out. Of course, I am in the bathroom every 5 mins. because of it. So, I think I am getting rid of fast enough.
Just find this all very interesting.

Let's re-read the linked article:
Just because you're getting rid of it, you're not solving the basic problem: minerals (including sodium, and I forget which others) are diluted and lost.
That's why victims also included people who drunk (vast amounts of) beer
I think the "max one litre (about 32oz) per hour" guideline is the thing to take away
