I just received an email telling me that Caloriesperhour is going to be incorperated into a new website called Livestrong.com.  I went to register, and it asked for a "beta" code.  I have no idea what that is, so therefore, I cannot register.  The email had a line saying "your access code is ____" but did not give me an access code.

Anyone know anything about this?

Did you eventually get a second email which included a beta code? I got one without a code and one with a code (about 20 minutes later)

Wouldn't let me register, said my username had already been taken [yeah right!] Tried the retrieve password feature which had my username and email correct, but still it won't let me sign in. Seems as though my account details have already been transfered but it refuses to let me use them?

Hi folks,

If you have also registered at The Daily Plate (http://www.thedailyplate.com), your TDP username has been reserved for use at LIVESTRONG.COM. That probably explains why your username would be unavailable at LS at the moment...

It will be "unlocked" for use on LS soon.

I too tried to register with the beta code that came with the second email.  I got the same message beta code invalid, and user name taken.

If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know.

Also -- if your BETA code is invalid, are you using the same email address that we emailed when you register?

No, Nir, I have never created an account there.  In fact I have never even heard of it.

Yes, Lex, same ole email address!

Tip: it appears that the CaPiTaLiSaTiOn of your email address matters. Look at the email you got (the one with the BETA code) and look at how your email is captialized. Type it into the registration form exactly as it is spelt in your email!

Lex,

REDQUEEN continues to have a problem. Her email address as stored at calories per hour is in CAPITAL LETTERS. Here Beta code was (presumably) generated based on the capital letters in the email as originally presented. Yet there is (bug/feature) in the Register page which 'validates' the email into lowercase. Thus it no longer ties-up with with the Beta code. This seems to be the cause of the problem for her. Can you assist?

So far I have not been able to register.  They want my zip code, and their is no country listed except USA.  I am in Canada.  Guess I will wait awhile and see what happens. Also say my user name is taken...of course by me!!!!

So have not even been able to look around on the site.

Maggie: I am in the UK. I used the zipcode 12345 when registering. (In the UK postcodes have numbers, letters and spaces)

Maggie, zenobia: what happens when you try to register with a different name, such as Maggie1 / zenobia1 ?

It is!

Snooped around and discovered you just have to email

support @ dailyplate . com

to have your account deleted and say what your username is. I don't see why they couldn't just include a Delete Account button like many other websites do. Hopefully that'll work and let me log on to the new site.

Thanks Nir,

Using the zip code 12345 worked.  Is there such a place.  Postal Codes in Canada are letters and numbers also.

I am still not registered, but using a number behind Maggie will likely work, just I would like to stay with Maggie....hoping they unlock it or something.

Cheerio

I'm having troubled signing up too. I couldn't use my name here 'Storm', cause it was 'already in use', and my code was invalid. I tried a different name (StormShinjou) which seemed to work fine, but it's still saying my code is invalid. O.o Help, please?

I saw the post about thedailyplate.com, too. I was gonna go there and search for a member  there with the name 'Storm', cause even though I don't have a membership there, someone else might, with the same name. But the page isn't loading for me? I clicked the link AND manually typedin the address. Are they down for matenance or something? o.o?

I received a beta code via PM and was able to log on to the Livestrong site.  I still do not understand if this means that we are going to be losing CPH.  CPH is like family.

Exactly how I feel mollymoo.  I registered and received that beta code via email and logged on but??  I don't understand if anything is happening with this CPH site.  That is not a place I would continue to visit like here.  If I wanted a blog/group type of set up like that I would have stayed over at PeerTrainer. :dizzy:  I, too, feel like this is family here.

I'd rather not get into a long discussion about this here or anywhere else in the forums. But for those who don't know what's up...

I started cph as a hobby with a calories burned calculator in 2000, and it grew from there. It became so successful that I could no longer run the site by myself, and so finally accepted an offer to sell.

Demand Media bought cph in August; I have remained active in the forums because I love them. They also bought The Daily Plate, and my conjecture is that they planned to continue running the two sites and possibly others that they would buy.

But then a deal with Lance Armstrong came along, and they decided it would make more business sense to put all their efforts into one website associated with his name and celebrity. Again, this is conjecture.

I was a little surprised that they announce the new site to our members, and that cph was closing, without saying anything about what cph features -- if any -- will be moved to the new site. We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm sure Livestrong.com will be able to reach a much greater audience, and help even more people with their struggle with weight loss and other goals. Albeit a little differently than a retired old man would do it from his visiting grandchildren's bedroom.

We'll know soon enough!

Peter, thank you.  I'm sick at the prospect of waking up one day and finding CPH gone.  Including all of the great calculators and the forums and the friends. - the most important additions to my life in recent times.  I was hoping they'd leave CPH intact or link it with TDP.  It will be sad indeed to lose it.  Can we buy it back?

I don't seem to be able to login in Livestrong under MollyMoo24.  I had created another username with the beta code to get in and look at the site but would still like to be MollyMoo24.  Can you please see if there is a reason that I cannot get in under MollyMoo24?

MollyMoo24, have you ever had a TheDailyPlate account? I know that all user names on that account are currently reserved (so no-one can 'steal' a user name that belongs to anyone on that website)

If you haven't, and given that everyone else seems to be eperiencing this issue, I guess all CPH users' names might also be reserved? I guess that means that when LiveStrong goes 'live' your user name will become available to you.

(this is educated guesswork on my part)

I think it would be nice if somebody from Demand Media could post in this topic and tell us about the features of CPH they intend to retain when CPH is 'switched off'

I have the same ID mollymoo24 at TDP.  I mistakenly thought from an above post that those with dupes should now be able to access Livestrong.  I've got a temporary 'fake ID' which I am using to browse Livestrong.  Thank you Nir.

ETA - I built a group over there called (CPHers exploring Livestrong) just to see if anyone can find it.   I also started my blog - again to see if anyone can find it.

First impressions - nice site but it is a MONSTER and obviously ruled by a small group of people.  (as large sites have to be) .  Anyone find anything like a regular forum on there let em know.

Midge!  I found the group you created and your blog.  I joined the CPHers group and also started a blog just to see how things work.

Just slowly navigating around there.  I sent you a friend request, though.

CG:music:- It's a little confusing right now, but after I joined the CPH group, I clicked on Midge's name that was listed as a member of that group, and it directed me to her profile page - and from there there's a box to click on to request to add her as a friend.  Apparently we have the 'power' to approve/deny friend requests.  Ok, clear as mud?
