Just out of curiosity, what is your idea of "perfection"?
.....and in case you don't mind sharing, how far away are you from your goal---or are you already at your goal weight?
My ideal weight is somewhere between 115-120lbs, at 5'4". Currently, I'm 25lbs away from this goal.

I have pretty decent-sized frame, so I think 180-190 would probably be good for me, assuming a good deal of it was muscle.
I still have 125 pounds to lose to reach 190, though. I'll get there!
EDIT: Oh, and I'm 5'11.

Hi, I am 5'10 currently not sure of my weight as I am not weighing, but rather going by how much bigger my clothes are getting. I started around 245 little over a month ago. I would like to eventually be back to 150, however, for the time being 175 is somewhat of a goal number.

I'm female 5'4" and my ideal weight is 125lbs. I have a medium to large frame. I don't know if my belly will be gone by then, but if not then I would lower my goal weight to 115-120. I'm not sure if that's perfection because I think heavier weights are attractive also, but it's something I've never been before and I want to get there! Currently I am 8lbs. away from my goal. My idea of perfection is a body like Anna Kournikova, but with slightly more belly hahaha. I like the little belly, but still small enough to wear a bikini. I'm not looking for washboard but a more sexy feminine belly.

| perfection? well, what i see as perfect for my body is... well, it's hard to put a number to it. i am a bit inclined to like a toned, slightly muscular but still feminine look and i know muscle weighs more than fat. i am 5'5" 125 lbs. i think i looked my best at 116, but i was not muscular, though my back didn't look too shabby. still had a belly and that's one thing i really want to get rid of... don't know if i will ever be able to, considering i have such of a short waist...

That's the same for me. I am 5'4 and trying to get down to 120lbs. Less, would be nice, but I think for me unrealistic. I have been trying for months to get the last 10lbs off. I am now down to 5lbs. So, it's getting harder and harder.
And if one more person tells me that I am skinny enough, I am going to strip down on the spot and show them my fat gut, lol.
Good Luck to you, I hope you meet your goal weight.

I am male and 5'5.5" (1.66m) and currently about 118lb (53.5kg). BMI about 19.4.
I don't know what my body fat % is, it seems to vary between 10% and 12%. Let's say it is 12% and I want to be 9%: then I will be 114lb (51.8kg) and my BMI will be 18.8 (still the right side of normal, but only just).
Having said that, even at my current body fat I am in the best shape I've ever been at (and for the longest period consistently) and I see great definition so just maintaining what I have (by eating 2000 calories and exercising 90 minutes a day) is fine and if I don't lose those "last 4lb" then that is OK too.
I guess Anna Kournikova looks OK, but not something I am specifically aiming for

| I'm 5'6" and I suppose my ideal weight would be 120 lbs but I think that for my body type 125 lbs is more realistic. I would be perfectly happy at 125.

Yea, what is with people. Do they really think that you lose all that weight so you can still have a gut. Geeezzz, I don't want a gut, thats why I lost weight. What's so hard to understand about it. It's really starting to annoy me.

I'm currently about 278 and i'm about 78 pounds away. I'm tall and I have a very large frame, so 200 would seem like a perfect goal in my eyes. Even 225 would be perfect but 200 seems to be a farther reach I can most deffinitly try and do.

I am 5ft2 and my ideal weight is 120-130lbs. Actually, I just want a body fat % of 20%. If I weighed 150lbs and had that body fat %, I wouldn't care about the scale.

Eh, this is one way that people show support for YOU, not just for your weight. While being healthy is very important, it's also important that you like yourself for who you are, right now at this moment.

I'm currently on my "ideal" weight and I'm 5'3. But I don't think that 113 is ideal at all for me!
Knowing that I'll never be satisfied or "thin enough" makes me sad sometimes.

I think that some people misunderstand the fact that when weight is lost, it comes of evenly, rather than from the behind first, then from the stomach second, and so forth. Every person is shaped differently, and people will generally maintain their shape with weight loss and gain. Even though someone may think they have large hips and a large stomach, when they lose weight, their hips and stomach will still be relatively larger to the rest of their body, however they will be slimmer overall.

| I'm 39, 6'-0" tall and currently weigh in around 180 (+/-). I feel that my ideal weight is between 175 and 180. So I am just about there, but there is still the slight belly fat, etc. Honestly, I am at the point where the major visual changes will come about through more exercise (toning).

| Javan, I put your numbers into the calculator, that is a BMI of about 24. You must have a lot of muscle if you are so lean at such a (relatively) high BMI. May I ask what your body fat percentage is?

I haven't check the BF in quite awhile, perhaps tonight I will try and locate the calipers (we are doing extensive home reno's, so I am unsure where these things are).
As far as the muscle. I have always had very muscular thighs/calves and chest (must be from the Scottish heritage...)
I can always tell if I am losing the body fat when I can clearly see the veins in the tops of my arms (and that is finally happening, once again).

| OK then I'm impressed, maybe you can be sub-12% at BMI 24 (I was seeing veins at 12% I guess)

I love how I am. I just don't like my gut and I know if I could get down a little more and hold it. I would be great. I still ware a large in shirts cause of my gut.
People act like I am starving myself or something. I guess they don't see all the veggies and fish that I eat. lol
Plus alot of people here where I live now, have never seen me skinny. I was always skinny before we moved here. I wasn't even that over weight when we first arrived here 10 years ago. Some of them are just being nice, but some, I can tell think I have a problem or something. It's annoying, cause the only problem that I have is not being able to quit eating. lol, and their thinking the opposite.

Yep, you are right. My neighbor, I told her I had 5lbs to go and she said. Where are you going to lose that from. You have nowhere to lose it from, cause you are so skinny. I said, you haven't seen my gut. I would show ya, but you would be scarred for life. lol
People just don't understand, that just because you look good with cloths on, doesn't mean you don't still have fat underneath.
For my height and age, I should be at 120lbs. Seems simple enough to me. I don't get why others can't see that. I know someone else on here was struggling with the same thing. So, I take my own advise and just tell people that I have done the research and I know what is a healthy weight for me.

| I'm 5'7 and I weigh 150 right now. It's my highest weight ever. I weighed 135 in December but I have since then quit my job. I can't seem to find an exercise regimen that takes place of the 12 hours a day I was working walking nonstop. What gets me is how many people actually have no idea what thick is.. To me, I'm thick now, but when I complain about it people think I'm crazy. They never guess that I weigh as much as I do. Some actually even guess that I'm like 130, which is hilarious. I want to be back down to 130. I'm only 28 and I want to lose the weight so I can not worry about getting fat if and when I ever get pregnant. I don't want to be starting a pregnancy 20 pounds over already.

5'9" and currently weigh 246.5. Ideal weight would be 155 but I'll be happy at 175, where I was most of my adult life up until about 8 years ago.
My sister is a firefighter and looks fantastic, she's same height and weighs about 160, carries a lot more muscle than I ever will. I think an important part of this calculation is your age-I'm 45. If I was still 20 I'd be going for 155.

At almost 5'9" I think my ideal weight would be around 150 - I think I weighed that at the age of about 12! - but I also think that I will be satisfied at about 170. One of my biggest motivators to lose the weight is wanting, for the first time in my life, to wear "regular" size clothes. I've analyzed and studied my body changes in regards to my clothing size (yes - I'm that obsessive) and believe that I'll be about a size 14, or even a little smaller, at that weight.
They say that 10lbs = 1 clothing size, but at over a size 14 or 16 that exponentially increases. Over size 20 it's closer to 20lbs = 1 clothing size. (But everyone is different!) I'm 260 (really 258.5!) and a size 24 now. Where I started, 281, I was a 26 so so far so good.

| Midge you should be way smaller than a 14 at that weight. I'm 5'7 and weigh 150 and at 145 I was very comfy in a size 9 and 29 waist jeans. If you shop at Old Navy you would be even smaller since I can still wear a 6 there now. And I have a very good size behind.

Ooooh, wilson00 I hope you're right! Looking at my family and who I physically take after I'm not so optimistic, but I hope! (I'm an "apple" shape in the extreme, so unfortunately even though my rear, thighs and chest only need a 20 or 22 right now i can't get them buttoned around my center! Hopefully my weight loss will, by the end, be more uniform but right now I'm walking around in droopy drawers! )

I think it just depends on your body type and the clothing brand. I've always had a pear shaped body (huge hips, thunder thighs ) and when I weighed 170-175 I was a size 12 to 14- depending on the brand. But I agree with you Midge, I'd love to be able to wear normal size clothes again, shop from places like Sundance, Banana Republic, Title Nine. I used to love clothes, when you're tall and slim, everything looks great. Sigh....

Hi. My name's Kevin. I'm 25. I'm 5'10" and weigh 172lbs. I would be fine weighing between 160-155. It sounds like a lot of people have the same problem I have, fat around their stomach/mid-section area.
It'd be much easier if I could just grow 4 inches instead of lose 17lbs. My BMI would be the same either way. Oh well.

| I am 5'8 and right now 200lbs on a medium frame. My ultimate goal is 180lbs. I've NEVER been skinny and will never be. I feel pretty confident about myself now but I would like to lose about 20 more pounds and then I'll see from there how it goes. Last edited on 31 May 2008 12:54 am by chickabom2

I too have always wondered what weight would look good on me. My poor husband on many occasions has been forced to ogle other people after my persistant pestering of "does my butt look that big/small." " do I have that shape?" type of questions. I don't think I have ever gotten a good answer, or it might be my self doubt kicking in.
But anyway, I am 5' 5.5" and about 149. My goal is 140lbs as I have never been a light weight in my life and have a lot of muscle mass. But I think at this weight my celullite might be reduced and the few patches problem areas I have on my thighs will slim down. By no means do I want to be boney or a specific "size," just not too jiggly. But with the way things are going...the only thing I am going to have to buy is a new bra size
