Hi guys im new here but thought I would give a really important tip as my first post
Starving yourself can actually make you gain more weight in the future. Basically what happens here is your body thinks you really cannot find food and when you do eventually eat again it stores it back double to prepare for the next time you may "starve."
That makes sense right? There are other reasons obviously why you should not starve yourself but this one is important enough for you to avoid it!
Anyways looking forward to being part of this forum

Starving yourself (or at least going on a severe calorie deficiency diet) can have long term weight-loss effects, but ONLY if you re-incorporate a small amount of calories at a time. True, if you starve, then go back to your normal eating habits without some sort of transition period, you will regain the weight you lost, plus more. However, I believe that most people who successfully keep the weight off gradually re-incorporate not only small amounts of calories at a time, but they also start eating healthy foods and leave behind their old food habits (like Nicole Ritchie, who supposedly stopped eating Taco Bell in favor of a more, ahem, strict eating regimen). Incorporating a workout routine after the "starvation" period would also be a good idea, not only to keep from re-gaining weight, but also to improve overall health and fitness.
I do not recommend starving by any means, however, if done "right," it can work (just like the Atkin's diet works by eliminating all carbs for the first few weeks, then slowly re-incorporating carbs into your diet---or not re-incorporating them at all).

It's not just the "starvation" mode that makes you regain the weight. It's also the fact that by the end of such a regimen, you will have lost a great deal of muscle, and your natural metabolism will be much lower. You can regain it back, but it's much more difficult.
Weight loss aside, your body will probably not be a whole lot healthier overall after such a regimen, either. Your body will likely be severly starved of nutrients, and your energy level will likely have plummeted.
