Question - can a dry cleaner actually 'expand' your pants by cleaning the fabric? You know, the opposite of shrinking them?

For your sake... I hope not! (Never heard of it.)

I know sweaters can get big and out of shape if you wash them wrong, so I guess it could happen with dry cleaning too.

Yeah, the verdict is - grrrrrr bad dry cleaning job.
I am so disappointed. I bought 3 new pair of pants that I really like (same pant, different colors), 2 of them went to the cleaners. They have a bit of stretch fabric in them and I guess the cleaners stretched them right out. Now they look stupid. The "control" pair that didn't go to the cleaners and while I've lost a little weight they look good.
I could go back and complain but I doubt it will do me any good.

Hey, you never know, remember that guy who filed that huge lawsuit? Apparently he thought he could get something out of it..

I would go back and complain. You said the pants were new. Take all 3 pants back and show them the difference. If you have the receipt from when you bought the pants take that too. You may get something.

| If you would take all three pants to the cleaners and show the manager the ones that his operation cleaned vs the pair not cleaned, they should be willing to reprocess the pants. A different approach may shrink them back to size. If they made a mistake and didn't process the pants correctly (according to the care label,) they may be willing to have their alterations person take them up for you. It would be worth a try to see what they might be willing to do to rectify the situation. Some clothes just don't "do right" no matter what you do to them. Those need to go back to the store where they came from.
