I hate food commercials!

How many times have you went to the refrigerator to get something to eat cause you watch a food commercial?

I remember once when I pregnant. I drove into town to get a big mac at 2am cause I seen a McDonald commercials.

Everyone please share your views on food commercials.

I especially hate seeing them while I am working out. I think to myself, ya go get some of that food, so I can do more walking. Working my butt off and seeing a big juicy cheeseburger just get my goat.

In 11th grade English class (Lordy, that was 1962!) we had a session on commercials. That set my mind for life.

Realizing how they are designed to manipulate your mind, I just shut it down when I see one. I am never influenced by any commercial.

Boy, I am glad you don't let them influence you at all.

After I figured it out, I started to change the channel or shut it off or something like that. But, now they just make me mad, lol.

I think they should be outlawed.

Outlawed? I assumed Muscoda was in (free) America.

Just teasing. I'm sure some others will post more supportive comments.

BTW, you can also post about this in the Pet Peeves topic in the Off Topics forum.

Thank you for bringing up this point. I want everyone to watch a fast food commercial and point out ANYBODY that is slightly overweight. It won't happen! A bunch of skinny people eating fast food and the commercials on the radio are just as bad. I hear the Wendy's commercial everyday that says something like, after 11pm and getting those cravings? We're open until 1am. Then they say it's not fast food, it's Wendy's. If anyone can explain that saying to me I would appreciate it. The fast food places want nothing but your money and will manipulate anyway they know how. Moderation people.

lol....Wendy's is one of the commercials I seen last night. Like you, I heard the it's not fast food. I chuckled at that one...... I don't care what they claim. There is probably not one item on there menu that is under 500cals.

When I see a commercial and think wow, that sounds good - I try to make myself picture it attached to my butt or thighs!  The DQ brownie bowl is the one that has been bugging me lately.  Luckly we live about 20 minutes from town and with gas prices so high I will not make a trip town for a craving.

Oh god, seen that tonight. Looked so flipping good!

I will not fall for it, but might to have to make some of my oatmeal cookies that I love so much.

Have not made them in awhile with the challenge going on.

Oh yea, I live an hour from that treat, so a little easier here. Unless I make some brownies.

I'm listening to my headphones as I type and just heard the latest Wendy's commercial saying, eat way better way later. Because that's what someone who's "health conscious" wants to do. Let's grab a bite at midnight and biggie size everything please because it's way better. Ha!

I used to be slightly bothered by the food on T.V. but as I got older I got wiser and it doesn't phase me at all. I can go into fastfood resturants and ignore it all and not eat anything. This might be easier for some people...

Just picture everything you been eating. Veggies, fruits, lean meats, counting calories, exercising for that hour and then think about what that one BIG MAC can do to you. Think about how nasty and disgusting it is with all the trans fats and calories. I can now proudly say "no" to food, I can go down candy isles with out buying that candy bar. It's a battle I won mentally and A battle i won vs advertising.

Another thing thats ingenious is ciggerates; they put young healthy people jogging and everything and then have a smoke afterwards. Makes people think smoking has no effect on your lungs. But obviously their wrong.

Hmm tv commercials. Good thing I don't watch tv anymore. The food looks so good. Yeah it doesn't do people a favor because we are brainwashed so easily by the fantasy on tv. But you could say the same thing about every other commercial you see. We really are brainwashed by all types of commercials. Car commercials, beauty commercials, the news....

Food commercials, I'm drooling right now thinking of them. I think if you have control you won't be swayed by commercials. Control I mean as in proper motivation and a desire to be different than other people who fall for that. I can see food commercials, let my mouth water and then change the channel haha.

The last food commercial I saw was for some sort of burger. They had a nice shot of it sitting there with FAKE STEAM rising from it. So the burger looked like rubber. Sorry, didn't make me want it! :chewing: I heard once that when Thanksgiving turkeys are on tv, they are actually raw and painted? .... YUM.......... ..... ... .

My sister-in-law takes advertising photos and told me once that they paint on lots of the stuff on the food.  The burgers and steaks had painted char lines on one set.
