| For one, it helps you feel fuller, so you would eat lesser. Also from what I've been told, is that it also helps remove all the toxins out of your body that can slow your liver down from removing less fat. Your liver is a very important organ, that removes toxins and fat as you lose weight. So, if you do not drink enough water, it slows down the process. Also, if you do not drink enough water, your body becomes dhydrated and when you do drink water, your body will hold on to it, therefor causing water weight gain. I hope this helps!!!!!!!!!

Even if you aren't counting your calories to restrict them, drinking water can still make you feel full enough that you end up eating fewer calories; burning more calories than you eat is how you lose weight, so eating fewer calories - whether or not you're aware of those calories - can help you lose weight.
Besides, if people don't drink water, they usually end up drinking coffee, juice, pop, milk, tea, or some other type of beverage like that; all of which have calories themselves. (Milk, some teas, and some fruit juices at least have nutritional value to go with their calories; pop is just flavored sugar water.) Drinking water not only can lead to less calories from solid food (because of feeling fuller), but also cuts out calories from whatever liquids you might otherwise drink.

I read on this one website, HowStuffWorks.com, that drinking ICE water actually burns more calories than drinking warm water. If you drink the recommended 8 glasses of ice water a day, 7days/wk, it can add up to almost 500 calories burned in that week. Figure that extra 500 calories in with the benefits of water already and its a win win situation. Unless you can't drink ice cold drinks. Here's the address for the above site:
science.howstuffworks.com/question447.htm
The site also has more on calories, diets, and the human body.
