Do you have an Eating Disorder?
I suspect that most of the people reading this do, though very few would ever consider that they did. But then I have a very loose definition of the term.
I suspect that many people simply think they are hungry all the time, and it's that simple. But if that's the case with you, then ask yourself why you will still eat when you feel full?
It's not important whether you label yourself as a person with an eating disorder or not, but it's important what you do about your habits that got you to this forum. And as we so often hear, admitting that we have a problem is the first step toward solving it.
For me, as I share in our highly ignored Eating Disorders forum in My Story by Peter, I wasn't eating because I was hungry or because I craved the taste of food. For me, it was an escape from all my problems. And if it weren't for the fact that it was ruining my life, I'd still be bingeing today because it worked!
So what do you think? Is it possible you eat for reasons other than hunger? And that you will have to address these issues before you can make any real progress with weight loss?
I find it interesting that many more people read these forums than are willing to join, get involved, and help themselves and others. Similarly, many more people read posts with polls in them and don't vote, even though voting is anonymous. (You do have to register and log in to vote.)
Please give some thought to the possibility that something more than hunger might be affecting your dietary habits. And if you're not sure, consider keeping a journal for a few days to find out!
