How much do you want to weigh? How much was your starting weight, how much are you now, and how much do you plan on weighing someday?
I started out weighing 200 pounds and I've lost 5 pounds this month, making me currently 195 pounds. My ultimate goal is around 110-115 pounds.:D

Well, I'm limiting my calorie intake and walking, which seems to be the most effective exercise for me.
My meals are:
Breakfast
Egg beater salsa omelette w/o butter 75 cals
Slice of toast 130 cals
Lunch
Chicken Salad 160 cals
Carrots 38 cals
Dinner
2 pieces of honey mustard chicken 300 cals
or Turkey Sub from Subway 300 cals
Snacks:
100 cal snack packs
Apple 60 cals
6 ginger cookies 130 cals
(And a few mints and gum just to keep my mouth full to refrain from eating other foods.)
So my calories would be around 1,023 a day, but trust me, I usually stray from that, yet manage to stay less than 1,200 a day. So I'm good, lol.

I started out at 210 lbs after having my daughter (4 years ago this upcoming January). I am currently 166 lbs and my ultimate weight goal is 140 lbs.
My REAL ultimate goal is to get as close to the ideal measurements, as determined by the calculator at bodybuilding.com. (Its all posted in my diary on this site, too). I have over 22 inches to go! Another ultimate goal would be to find a physical activity I really enjoy and compete in an event featuring this activity. I suppose I've got to identify that activity first :P!!

Hey everyone - just wanted to share my goal with you all!
I'm a 27yo Aussie female - 173 cm tall and last week I weighed myself at 84kg / 185 lb - I soon after decided that I need to make some real effort to loose some weight so that I feel better about myself!
I would like to weigh 70kg but a realistic goal would be 75km / 165lb (I have a heavy frame and tend to retain a fair bit of muscle from cycling)
I don't really mind how long it takes me to get there but if I can get there in 4 months it would be nice :)
As of last week I have been counting calories using this site - I have been setting a goal of roughly 1235 cal per day + extra for exercise (mostly stationary and road cycling).
I have started to record and plan everything I eat every day and its been a real eye opener even just in this first week! i.e. I now eat way more veggies, fruit and eggs and eat way smaller portions or meat, rice, bread and pasta.
This site is a great tool - I tired out a few other sites but this is by far the best and it's free too!!
Good Luck to everyone and thanks to the administrators for a great site!

Hehe - oops - sorry Peter - THANK YOU BIG TIME
NB I just did the calculation of calories burned by activity during a standard 24 hours. I’m a bit surprised - from this my total calories burned/required in 24 hours is 2732 and thats on a pretty inactive day!
This means by only consuming 1235 per day I am more than halving my intake (cutting at least 1497 calories a day from my diet) Is this ok or is it too much of a change all at once ??
Any suggestions or comments would eb greatly appreciated
Thanks again
Shell
here's what the calculator came up with...
]Totals: 2,732 calories in 24 hr
Animal Care - play, sitting, light
18 calories in 5 min
35 calories in 10 min
Driving - light vehicle (e.g., car, pick-up)
28 calories in 10 min
Surfing - internet or TV
21 calories in 10 min
Food - preparing, at home
158 calories in 45 min
Animal Care - feeding animals at home
18 calories in 5 min
Ironing
32 calories in 10 min
Reading - reclining
42 calories in 30 min
Sleeping
570 calories in 7 hr 30 min
Sitting - quietly (e.g., watching TV)
338 calories in 4 hr
Cleaning - multiple household tasks, light
106 calories in 30 min
Eating - sitting
11 calories in 5 min
42 calories in 20 min
42 calories in 20 min
TV - watching
169 calories in 2 hr
Office Work - desk work
989 calories in 6 hr 30 min
Driving - light vehicle (e.g., car, pick-up)
28 calories in 10 min

I'm 5'4". I don't know how much I weigh... But when I started my "make-over" I was 151 lbs and wearing a size 14. Now, I'm wearing a size 12 and they are very loose on me. So, I'm guessing that I weigh around 145. I need to buy a scale :)
Anyways, my ultimate goal is to weigh 120-125 lbs and wear a size 5-7. I'd be happy at a size 7. I used to wear a size 4 and weigh 123 lbs, but that was when I was 14 years old (now I'm 17). So, I'm not really sure if I will ever go back to that, because I'm sure I developed more. But, we'll see.
Check out my diary in the diaries section. You can see if I reach my ultimate goal.

Corina,
Out of curiousity, where do you carry your weight? Because I am the same height 5'4, and weigh about 160 and wear a size 10 (ocassionally 12, ocassionally 8). Then again.. when I weigh in the 120s I wear about a size 5 (I carry my weight in my thighs - I don't think I'd ever wear smaller than a 5). I have thighs of doom - seriously - they are like 25 inches around.

College Student,
I'm definitely a pear shape. All of my weight is in my thighs, hips, and butt. The main problem with me is getting pants over my hips.

| I am 30 years old and 5ft tall and weigh about 165 lbs and would like to be at 125 lbs I have two small children and sometimes don't have the energy to do anything. I have been trying to lose weight and can't seem to stay on any diets. I feel really depressed all the time and I am very hard on myself. Maybe someone can help me.

Does anyone ever stay on diets? Haven't met anyone yet that has. Perhaps that's part of your problem.
I suggest you start by reading the FAQ (link below) and then post more specific questions.
Welcome and best wishes,

Hi...this is very new for me.
I hate the way I look and decided to make some changes.
I am 29yrs old, 5' 3" and weigh a whopping 140lbs
I want to get back to my high school weight of 110 to 115. But...I am just scared I can't do it. I will check these message boards daily hopefully for motivation and information.
I am so glad I don't have to do this alone!!! :D

| I currently weigh 197.5 pounds. I just started counting calories yesterday and I already lost about 3 pounds...woohoo. :) I know it was probably all water weight but it was still really cool to see the scale go down. Anyway, my goal is to get down to 170 (or a size 10). Once I get there I will re-evaluate myself and decide if I need to loose more.

My ultimate goal is 145 lbs. I think that's reasonable considering that I am 5'9.5. I am currently 170lbs at the dr's office.
My weight has gone up and done a lot in the last few years. My high point was 228 lbs and my low point was 112. One of the reasons for this is that I have some big thyroid problems and the other reason is that I went from meat-eater to vegan to vegetarian and then decided to consume dairy again.
Good luck to everyone else who posted, may your progress towards your goal never loose strength.

| Hi! My goal is 130 by June 24th for my best friend's wedding (I'm 163 now at 5'4"). I would then like to get into the 120s, but when I drop below that I start to look kind of sunken in. So somewhere in the 120s.

| I weighed 240, im 5`7 or so...and when i started working out in early July i did weigh 240 and had a 38 inch waist. About 2 weeks after that i weighed myself and i was 233....i couldnt belive that i had lost so much so fast. I havent weighed myself since and to tell you the truth im a little afraid to do weight myself, instead im just going by how i look and feel. Im a 36 inch waist now and they even feel a little loose now. Should i look at the scale more often? It seems like a more accurate measure of progress it seems, what do you think?

Most people will tell you not to worry too much about the scale. It can be a source of frustration, since the body does fluctuate. Also, the first week or so you lose a lot of water weight, so you will likely not continue to lose at that rate.
The most important thing is how you feel and how your clothes fit. If you are following a weight loss plan, and sticking to it, you really don't need to worry about the scale.
It's all a personal choice. Besides, you will find out what you weigh next time you head to the doctor ;)

My beginning weight : 265
Current weight: 215
Ultimate Goal: 135
I have been dieting 4 months now and have lost 50 lbs. I have slowed down on the pounds lost each week now and so I have picked up the exercise routine. I walk 30 minutes a day and do a fitness game 30 minutes daily. I usually cant work out on Mon. & Fri. because of work, but make it the rest of the time.
This is a great site. I just found it and plan on doing alot of reading and catching up!

Thats depressing! I'm about to go to the gym now... i just gave myself motivation.

Started at 210
Now at 147
Goal is 135 according to doctor
Ultimately would like to be 125
I eat 1200 calories a day. I also make sure that I watch my carbs, fat, and protien. My trainer says I have to eat a carb & a protien at every meal and have 2 snacks a day. I find it hard to eat 1200 cals a day. I have to force the food in at this point to maintain 1200 with the 2 snacks also. I strength train 2x's a week to raise my rmr and do fat burning 3-4 x's a week. Went from a size 20 to a size 10. :D Good luck everyone on meeting your goals.

I'm new to this forum. I'm 19 years old. I'm 5'4, small frame, & 196 lbs.I dont look like im that fat. I have muscles. I gain muscles fairly easily. I want to be 110 lbs. When I was younger I was skinny. I think it was bc I lived close to my cousins so we were always outside riding bike or whatever. Sine 14 however I have been overweight. I moved away then my cousin and gain weight. At 14 years old I was about 30-40 lbs overweight. i stayed overweight bc I wasnt active anymore because we moved to a different neighborhood and since my mom knew no one I couldnt go outise :(. I have been overweight from 14-16. I really picked up weight since we moved again...actually to a different state and I got depressed. So Now I have gained about 46 lbs on top of being 30-40 overweight already. I need to lose about 86 lbs.
I have done major research to lose weight. So my calories are going to be 1500 calories a day. I'm going to exercise daily. I'm doing cardio and strength training(for mucle tonning not gaining muscle). I'm hoping to start off losing at least 2-4 lbs a week. I know you have to burn 3500 calories per lb of fat you want to lose.
I have a passion for diet and exercise. It just with my being depressed and then getting frustrated with all the weight i have to lose I havent tried until now. I know its not going to get done until I do it. I want to be a personal trainer so I really need to get into shape! I'm starting college in August(06 of course) of this coming year to major in Nutrition and Exercise Science.
I'm starting to lose weight today!

Well, my ultimate goal is to get my weight down to 156lb and maintain it there. Over a year ago I weighed 189lbs and after the doctor told me I was officially overweight, I decided to do something about it. I got my weight down to 156lbs slowly over 5 months. This gave me a BMI of 21.8, my 'ideal' weight (I'm 5'11 and female).
However, over the following seven months I regained 14lbs. I have just lost 4lbs over 2 weeks, but maintenance is more my goal than weight loss now (as I am in the 'normal' weight range for my height). Of course this is easier said than done.
Anyway, good luck to everyone whatever your goals are.

Well my ultimate goal right now would to weight somewhere between 170-185. I currently weight 256.5. I started on Oct 31st weighting 261, so I have only lost 4.5 pounds in my first month. I was sick for a good almost 2 weeks though.
So far I have just started to really watch what I eat. I try and eat more whole grains in the morning for cereals. I really like the Kashi cereals and they have the fiber that's need. I eat a lot more fruits for my snacks, and I have tried to eat 5-6 times a day, 3 meals, and 2 or 3 snacks. My calorie intake has been around 1400, but I have been told I should be eating around 1700 at the least. It's very hard for me to do.
Anyhow, this site is great! Everyone can make their goals! Keep up the great work everyone!

I discovered this site when browsing google for calorie calculators and weight loss tips. It's quiet nice.
I am 5'2" and I used to weigh around 144. I started eating less at the end of August when school started back up for me. I am now at 116. My goal is probably around 105-110. I am almost there. I know weight is important but now I need to build muscle.
At least I'm glad I did something for myself. I was tired of feeling like #%@&!.
